    What Profession will YOU be training first to start with?

    Brighter Shores definitely looks like an interesting game. However, if you keep using "Runescape" in your video titles, you're going to pit your game against OSRS, which is already a big hit. When players start playing the game, they'll always be comparing Brighter Shores with OSRS.
    While it's great to draw inspiration from successful games like Runescape, constantly comparing Brighter Shores to it may not be the best approach. Players will inevitably start expecting Brighter Shores to be a "Runescape clone" or a "Runescape 2.0," which could lead to disappointment if the game doesn't meet those expectations.
    Instead, focus on showcasing the unique features and mechanics that set Brighter Shores apart from other MMORPGs. Highlight the game's original content, innovative gameplay, and fresh take on the genre. By establishing Brighter Shores as its own entity, you'll attract players who are genuinely interested in the game for what it is, rather than just looking for a Runescape replacement.
    Keep up the great work, and I'm excited to see how Brighter Shores evolves as we get closer to the Q3 release date!

    My plan for coins in Brighter Shores is one that has been done in quite a lot of other MMO launches in the past. You make an account per gathering skill in the game that only does that 1 gathering skill (and anything else needed to do that 1 thing at max efficiency), then funnel all of the raw material to a main account that focuses on producing all the gathering skills for massive overall exp gains to the 1 account. That 1 account then has all the final products it needs to focus on PvM as well as excess to sell for anything in the game. I recall this being quite the thing when Albion Online launched as it allowed getting high level production skills for free, then profit from it, then just buy raw material and produce it further for a profit while focusing almost entirely on raising combat.
    If going for a small 1-3 account focus, mining + smithing is likely to be the most stable. If it is anything like it was in Runescape mining was the most profitable skill in the game when making Rune Armor in the super early days. 20+ years later in OSRS mining into smithing is still one of the highest pure GP methods in the game for ironmen as shops have very stable pricing for most smithing goods.
    Things like cooking, herblore, and similar could be really bad stable money if the game goes down a Runescape approach rather than a Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley/Cozy Game approach. In those kinds of games (farming sim/cozy) material like food and potions have a very stable sell rate to shops as the games are far more focused on consumables being sold rather than used, but in Runescape their value is based purely on PvM utility and market demand selling for nearly 0 to shops. In RS3/OSRS, potions that sell for 10,000s to players sell for under 500 to shops, so if the demand ever lowers for the product they become worthless. Mining/Smithing is more likely to be stable both for shop selling and market demand, so if one side fails such as selling to other players, the other one can pick up the slack of loading them off to shops.

      Great idea, not sure if i'll play that intensely. Maybe 2 accounts (if it's allowed) but don't fancy managing multiple, however i respect those that have the dedication to do that.

    Typically in MMORPGs I have noticed gathering professions are easy money while leveling and players producing items from gathered items are poor at the beginning but by the time you're both max level the producer will be far ahead because the time to money ratio tends to be higher for producers than gatherer.

    Think the market at the start of the game and in later part of the game. Depends on what the prices of crafted items, the shop will buy it for. If you even can sell the finished products to the shop.
    So if the shops buys the items of you quicker and at a decent proffit loss. Most people will just sell items to the shop and take those items out of the economy.
    So in general. I think gathering skills and combat loot will be king from start to finish.

    • @BrighterShoresCentral
      @BrighterShoresCentral  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, some good points can see that happening in terms of blacksmithing but for alchemist and chef these items will likely be in demand for other players. Maybe foraging is a interesting one? If it plays into both alchemy and chef then these items foraged could be high demand.

    I'm curious on whether items in the game them selves will be degradable both over time and / or through use of said items because in RuneScape many of the items during my "Peak Scaping" (between 2004-2012 before my interest slowly started to dwindle) were static items that never rotted or degraded via use which meant that the value of most items gradurally got lower and lower due to there being soo many of said item over a lengthy period of time. The Raw Shark for example used to be a good 1K each but now is a measely 300gp according to RSWiki because soo many are in circulation thanks to overfishing by both bots and players (and drops from NPCs), what used to be an immense money-maker back in the early days it now barely even worth getting 76 Fishing for anymore if you want to use fishing as a source of income.
    If all items in Brighter Shores degraded one way or another, if harvesting and gathering items "rotted" quicker, if produced items had a longer shelf-life but still rotted and degraded (all items could theoretically be stored in larders and dedicated "chests" "cupboards" and other forms of storage to preserve them longer at higher levels) and if combat fans had their weapons, armour and tools degrade because of overuse and had to choose between getting spare parts for basic maintenance or just binning their old and worn-out equipment and opting for purchasing new weapons and armour instead. That would keep all the skills in Brighter Shores much more valuable than whats happened in RuneScape where you could buy an item once like a Rune Scimitar and have it carry you through most of the game before your inevitable need to "upgrade". Not having to repair or replace said Scimmy once throughout its entire lifetime.

    • @BrighterShoresCentral

      Yes, i agree this is a very interesting idea. It would make skilling worth doing if the focus is both levelling up the skill and making coins.

    Just like in Runescape, I think the most money will be made day 1 through selling to shops. Then merchanting once you have a nice cash stack to work with. People will always pay top money to not have to wait for their items to sell.

    • @BrighterShoresCentral
      @BrighterShoresCentral  5 місяців тому

    I'd like to know how they plan on preventing market supply volume stagnation. When new players craft an item so many times it becomes worthless.
