- Brighter Shores is the next big MMO coming out this year with it's similar style to Runescape and other tabletop RPGs, I decided to go over all the similarities it has with other games and how good this game actually is.

Andrew Gower has made me addicted to one of his other games for almost 20 years now so I'm giving him the minimum respect and atleast giving this game a try and I think you should too.
100% agree
Ye for real not trying it is not an option to me.
Out of respect for him, i will try it out. Out of spite to myself, i will play it daily.
That i would like most done right is that my american visa card is acceptable cause for rune scape couldn't pay through website or the ingame store cause the company that owns the game has a bank in Britain and that bank handles all of the transaction pretty much, since its a British bank its a separate entity from the american visa card thus no compatibility of course theres the steamstore page but your wasting alot of your money rebuying the same starters packs or delux packs over and over again, no option to just directly buy membership
There are banks in the US that will offer global services and a card that will work in the way you you mention. There are options

Brighter Shores definitely looks like it's designed to be more psychologically engaging than RS and OSRS from a gameplay perspective. Not too grindy and being strategically challenging, while still feeling like a classic MMORPG. It's probably very fun to play without guides, unlike OSRS where you gotta look everything up to keep up with other players.
A lot of people won't try this game because they don't like certain "control freak" stuff that Andrew Gower did with Runescape like 20 years ago. But I personally want Brighter Shores to succeed, because it's being made with all the right gameplay psychology in mind, and it's being made for all the right reasons.
This strange board-game aesthetic doesn't do a thing for me, and the idea of being room-to-room cuts off my favorite part of MMOs: the open world. Sounds a bit naive to think that a homebrew engine will stand up against the kinds of reverse-engineering and memory skimming that specialized macros are made of, and generic solutions are getting more sophisticated all the time. Premium-only trading also doesn't filter out the big botters that do it for a living (and on a large scale), just the curious players that don't want to risk much.
Its hard to get past the artstyle of it. Reminda of rs3 alittle bit.
Don’t forget art style is what turns most it players away from oldschool RuneScape, just because it looks similar to rs3 don’t let that turn you away. It could be just as good as OSRS but only time will tell 😊
Osrs is rs3 just with older graphics, well not so much anymore i guess since theyre releasing hd... osrs is rs3 now
Not a negative like at all.
gower bros are absolute legends
I will support anything that Andrew Gower makes. As an avid OSRS player I'm looking forward to this one.
a homebrew engine just means security through obscurity which is not a good best practice. I'm sure there are anti-botting measures implemented but if there is a will there will be a way.
Its raining and pouring i cant stand it! But i'm not wet have a wonderful day!!@@
This.
If it's click to move, there will ALWAYS be ways to easily bot unfortunately. Simulating clicks on certain parts of the screen based on image recognition is so easy, you can set one up in like 30 minutes with ChatGPT's help. Not that it's not detectable, but if you spend even more time making it, it will be. I just hope that those who bot won't impact our experience as much as in RS.
@@freshairkaboom8171 If a human created it, computer can do it better. It may not be easy, but it’s doable.
I'm very much looking forward to Brighter Shores and have it wishlisted, here's hoping it lives up to the hype
Hey Kribus, something you forgot (or maybe didn't know) is that Andrew Gower gave an interview to PC Gamer explaining what he meant by eliminating bots:
'"Obviously, you're never going to completely eliminate bots," Andrew Gower told PCG in a recent interview, "so our approach has been more to make it so that they don't negatively impact the game." That means all sorts of things, of course: Gower says the studio has "designed the economy of the game so it's not gonna be broken if lots of people bot," and that "the whole way that instancing works [means] you're not gonna be standing in a chunk and there's tonnes and tonnes of bots all around you."
But it also means something a bit more unorthodox: a "legitimate way" of botting the game.
Gower says one of the ways Brighter Shores is trying to minimise "grindy gameplay" is with a feature that lets you "set your character to carry on doing [activities] even whilst you're logged out." That means you shouldn't have to spend "hours and hours and hours to get your level up." Instead, you can set your character to get on with the grind while you're away. "You might be doing combat while every night [your character] is doing fishing," or vice versa.'
So Brighter shores will provide a way to "skip" grinds by AFKing them for less XP. And since botting does risk a big chunk of time investment going into limbo compared to a legitimate, more slower way to level up skills, most people will feel discouraged to bot.
Classes afiliations and auto gameplay , welcome to any other generic game from 2007 , but hey here you will train exactly the skills(professions) from other 2007 games , runescape 4 or metin 3? your choice
😮😮😮 dang this could be wild!
You deserve way more subs than you have tbh.
It's not going to affect Old School RuneScape at all, because OSRS players aren't attracted to it - it will, however, affect RuneScape 3 a lot. If Brighter Shores could live up to what Gower had promised, lots of RS3 players would probably end up leaving RS3 in drove for Brighter Shores. So we would have thriving and active OSRS and Brighter Shores, with a near dead RS3.
I play osrs and I'm attracted to brighter shores
Not everyone plays one game and one game only.
@@ImBuanana Not everyone has the money for more than one mmo.
@@ChunkSchuldinga I don't really see what your point is but you don't need money to play either rs3 or osrs
It would be nice to try for the fresh start aspect, seeing yourself at the top of the high scores possibly. So far the only announced release is in Q3 of this year, so July at the earliest?
Probably september if I had to guess and we'll get beta testing next month
Excited to see what will come 😄
Runescape 4 looks pretty good. I'll definitely try it
You know these small instances maps reminds me of the game jagex made on funorb back in the day. It was a runescape styled turn based strategy. I kinda dig it.
Thumbnail image looks nothing like Brighter Shores - I doubt I'll give it a shot since im not maxed on OSRS yet lol
I fucking love the intro with the slightly increasing bombed out bassboosted weird english/aussie rap. Its such a great vibe.
Things I want to see in an MMO in 2024:
- Teamwork / Co-Op play
- Support roles, Tank roles, Ranged DPS, etc.
- Trading not locked behind a paywall
Playing an MMORPG is inherently a social thing, so I hope that Andrew Gower can find a way to make this feel more like a party game and less like a solo experience.
Please tell me that ill be able to play it on my phone
Jagex are already excited to sue them.
They can't sue them anymore than WoW can sue Final Fantasy XIV.
what
I’m going to need the president of mmorpgs idyl to review this first, but I’d be willing to give it a try
I've had the game wishlisted for a few months and I'm looking forward to it, but I just wish it looked more like osrs than rs3.
I may do the start an account and let it bot itself, but i don't see myself playing this game seriously. At least not at the start unless it's more RuneScapey
Can't wait to play the game. Like that the content will be released in episodes.
Is brighter shores out already?
Not yet it’ll be out Q3
love the agro thing like classic
I'm very excited for brighter shore but I'm a little sad that there wasn't really anything mentioned in this video about runescape 4. I understand that brighter shore could push jagex to building out rs4 but that wasn't mentioned much either. Great video overall. Just a poor title choice. But it did get me to click on the notification so that worked exactly for what it was supposed to I guess.
nice comment, saved me watching the vid
osrs is already mostly by and for gamers so it won't change anything for Rs players. Some will try , fewer will stay
I just hope the quest aren't as mind-numbing as they were with rs 3 with NO MORE SLIDERS
I just wish there were no classes... It's what I like about Runescape and Skyrim.
So you don't like rpgs. Skyrim is the dawnfall of the TES franchise
Holy! That's a cool accent.
If it wasn't for the highly hypnotising, nerve stimulating shop.
I'd still play the game.
I can’t wait for RuneScape 6
we'll prolly see it before gta 6
J1mmy is shaking in his boots rn
Competition is a great thing indeed.
Cant wait to try out brighter shores
wrinkle wrinkle little star made me laugh harder than it should have.
no bots or rmt?
how can anyone believe such a claim?
Andrew Gower made both games
If you can automate keyboard and actions with a script, you can create a bot. Brighter Shores will have bots guaranteed. Arrogant to claim it wont.
Well they can’t be ftp bots at least
@@stevenalcorn4955they literally can and probably will be. Why would a botter pay for members before they’re accumulated the items they want to sell.
It’ll likely have lots of ftp bots, some of them converting into p2p accounts, that gold / item stack being transferred to a main.
he didn’t say it won’t, he said there will be few because there is little to gain from it.
When I am hearing you talk about botting all I am thinking is .. "Oh you sweet summer child"
At least Brighter Shores is transparent on being pro-bot, giving the player AFK/offline leveling tools. OSRS is just straight up hypocritical being "against the rules" and doing nothing about it. Other than that, I doubt anyone will move.
When yah get all the METAs down etc with 100s of boss camping videos etc I’m in so maybe 5 years after launch
RIP Osrs 😂
Nah this aint gonna kill osrs, i thought that too initially, but its not actually like osrs.. i mean its not even openworld 🤷♂️
All small things add up, and there seems to be huge amounts of small things that makes it nothing like osrs
as an average osrs casual player, i would check out brighter shores but wouldnt play on grinding it out like i have runescape all my years playing.
It’d be sick if they could offer an account importer - based on your total xp/total lvl/quest points, you get a unique cape or something lol. That’d 100% boost the initial player count for like…no investment. I’d consider it if I were making a new game.
This is the first time I’m hearing of Brighter Shores though. If it’s free, yeah I’ll check it out obviously, but I can’t say I’m excited for it or anything. I am interested though.
Wish they have mobile
I just dont like the look of it myself. Looks like its being released dated. I'm not sure if its done on purpose; however it doesnt have a charm to it.
Understandable. I've never cared about graphics personally, that's why OSRS is my favorite game among few other older games, I'm more interested in the stories and since Paul Gower who made most of the quests in OSRS is also making the content in this game, I'm happy to atleast give this game a try.
@@KriibusRS I'll definitely be giving it a try out of respect. But it's not the graphics as much as it is the style. It reminds me of the clayish look of RS3 and that doesn't sit well with me 🤣
Osrs has much worse graphics
@@Kindofsavvy I agree with you, I much prefer Osrs graphics over RS3 graphics because it's a style. Simple stylized looks over semi-realistic, weird looking models is always way better imo. Kind of the reason I like 2D animation almost every time over 3D cgi looking shows/movies.
If they really wanted realistic looks, there's the tech for it. Otherwise go for something way more stylized, so it's not semi-realistic characters moving stiff af.
@@Pheonixess yeah, it just seems soulless and not thoughtful. There's too many games with the same generic graphics.
If you think Andrew Gower wouldn't sell this game for a lot of money you're crazy. Did he need the money when he sold out the first time? No, but he did it anyways.
We're going from RS to BS lol
You can't run an MMO without revenue. £75m will only get you so far. You've got developers wages to pay
It isn’t a free MMO so the revenue will come from membership just like rs pre 2011/2012
????????? It's a subscription service what the fuck are you talking about LMFAO
Mhhwahh 😘
it’s gonna be micro transaction heavy 100%
Where the fuck is there any proof of that? Up your ass?
Ummmm... wow is sub only and its covered in bots. Membership just means the company will profit off of bots.
Also L for the click to move gameplay. Ppl play osrs for nostalgia any successor to RS needs to abandon the MUD style or youre going to alienate an entire generation of upcoming gamers. Hell i hate click to move but enjoy osrs for the memories.
As an ironman man, sorry i dont want to trade players. Imo this looks shit, and i think itll either take rs3 players or just die or get an overhaul and be back at the drawing board.
I wonder if selling RuneScape was Andrews biggest regret. He made bank out of it but his baby got torn to shreds :(
He has stated that he regrets selling Runescape in hindsight but I think it was the right thing to do. Securing your financial future for the rest of your life is never a bad option.
Bots will take care of this game in month time :)
I think this game has potential. But I kinda don't like the graphics at all, it smacks too much of rs3 and doesn't feel like it has too much character.
None of the environments shown in the teasers really speak to me. It all just kinda feels like "yep thats a kitchen".
Kudos to the dude for trying something so risky. But right now it's not something up my alley.
You can't really compare the 2 games.
Brighter shores is just temple trecking.
Osrs is open world.
If Brighter Shores is succesful it will likely game its playerbase from..Runescape. So the game is actually just bad for RS.
But if the games good enough i'd quit RS for it, wait and see I guess
Seems boring game but looks better than trash eoc mtx RS3 game. OSRS is still far superior when it comes to contents like raids, inferno and colosseum. I hope Brighter Shores can compete with OSRS in terms of high level pvm content.
I can’t wait to quit osrs. Jagex running it into the ground. High hopes for the new RuneScape
No
idk the integrity of runescape has been good even with all the owner changes. Jagex makes stupid decisions at times but you can tell with all thier newsletters they really do care about the player base and listen to us. At least comparing to the real greedy shit bags like epic games
RS3 crawled so that OSRS could walk, and without OSRS Jagex would have gone under a long time ago. I'm sure most game devs have good intentions, but a lot of uncaring business suits and interference from investors is likely the reason why RS3 has gone the way it has when it comes to all the shitty skill-boosting MTX.
Ngl it looks like rs3 and it’s off putting.
I'm probably not gonna give it a try because it has that ugly-ass RS3 artstyle. That was one of the big changes to Runescape's direction that I hated.
Didn't watch the video yet. Answer, no it won't. (But it'll be cool)
zogbot artstyle, horrific stuff

I'm legally obliged to say if this was an AD, otherwise I would risk losing my partnership on youtube. No, this is not an ad, I just really like the look of this game.
The only thing gayer than rs3 is rs4
And osrs
unsubbed, was this an ad?
😂😂😂
Why would u think this is an add? Its a game made by the rs creator something 99% of rs players would be imterested in
Cry more queerbait
nah, ill stick to osrs.
I quit rs ages ago. Mostly because it became p2w, but also because knowing that the game is infested with cheaters and rwters just ruins the experience.
That's why osrs and especially rs3 are just no options anymore. Those games are corrupted beyond repair.
I hope this one will fix that. I doubt it, but the least i can do is give it a chance.
