I love it! It's beautiful and odd in just the right way. And please, don't take this the wrong way.... But it looks like a funeral urn for a circus clown.
Very Unique Piece of Turned Art. BEAUTIFUL as always. Really Enjoyed Your discussion about Professional Woodturners last week. Very insightful. I tried for about a year while living in Oregon a few years ago and Failed Miserably. Dreams Dashed, now Turning as a hobby again.
It looks like the hard candy at Christmas time! That is so cool! Great job as aways, and what a wonderful idea to use that leftover epoxy. Really love your videos and learning about your craft. Thank you for sharing.
Jim: when I started turning, 30+ years ago, I made miniature things out of pine. I wanted to see if turning was anything that I would like. I made spinning tops and small toys for the kids. I graduated to larger forms in hard woods. Your info is a good guide for beginners. The hollow form does look nice. Lots of colour. Take care and stay safe.
The resin chunks reminds me of Brach’s hard candy. So colorful and vibrant! Lighting it up was great too, it created a completely different look and showed the beautiful shimmer in some of the pieces. It would look great in a modern design setting. Great job!
Really cool video this week Jim such a great idea with the left over resin. Totally unique. Your great at thinking 'outside of the box' they really are great projects I love them. Top class man.
I didn't realize how translucent the hollow form is until those last pictures - pretty cool. I started with pine - from old 4x4 fence posts that had rotted at the ground that we replaced. The wood is light, very dry, and cuts easily. The wood was free and great to learn with. I'm simply a hobbyist and still have much to learn.
Hi Jim, whilst it's not my favourite project of yours (I'm generally not a massive fan of kaleidoscope projects) it was certainly winning me over when you were doing the glamour shots with the light source at the end. It really did look very nice. Nevertheless, another great video Sir! Hope you have a great weekend.
Beautiful piece Jim! I've turned some beautiful spalted Beech, it was dry (sat outside in a woodpile before it was given to me), and I just left it to dry in my basement workroom for about a year before turning. No cracking! It's in a video on my channel if you want to check it out ☺️
OMG ... last week so colorful, I thought it what the Mec Ultra, but I was rong because today's peaces is so joyful, I think I could passe hours looking at it and still find new combination of colors. Thank you for this Unic work of Art ☆•♡•☆•♡•☆•♡•☆
Well, I came back to life and I’m glad I did. This is a really fun piece. It’s kind of out of this world. It reminds me of something astrological but I can’t really tell you why. It looks like it would be right at home in a Harry Potter movie. Just fun and totally beautiful. Lots of creativity and lots of different directions you could take this. Good job.
It is beautiful Jim. They always pop when you put on the first coat of finish. Enjoy your time with your family, it is precious. We are visiting my son near Paris for the first time in three years at the end of next month 🌞
My granddaughter introduced me to resin videos but I found you on my own, and I love the items you make. I think this one is my favorite so far. I can hardly wait to see what’s next each week.
Jim, perfect description on the kaleidoscope ! My son looked over while watching it, and said it looks like one of those fun toys. “Dad you should make one, I’ve seen them in the catalogs before” 👍👍👍
What a recycle job of srevotfel into treasure. Woo!You got it, you flaunt it, and we can’t get enough. That piece turned out gorgeous. Surprising amount of translucency too. Thanks for sharing this one and some words about starter-wood to try.
that turned out really nice Jim, I was asked to make something like you made this week by a viewer, I hadn't watched this yet, funny how we both used left over resin for our projects, the FUN CUPS ! and yeah I tried smashing resin up like that for the Stained Glass Collab with Ken Moon, it really takes a beating before it gives up, see ya next week, thumbs up as always, and you put a light in yours too ! LOL
It’s funny I was thinking the same thing when I seen your video too. Going to rewatch it because I had a lot of family here and was pretty crazy. Let’s see if we make the same things next week, lol. Thanks for watching!
So cool! I think the translucent black was the right choice. It makes the colors pop without obscuring their brightness. Nicely done. I always love to watch you turn.
Omg what an amazing piece, love watching you recycle old resin so colourful, that black really highlights the colouring of the purple and shows you use lots of colours in your work xx
I don't care what other people say about your running narrative - I love it. The experience and knowledge you share are generally all the questions I have that nobody else covers (plus your accent is sooo relaxing to these English ears 🙂) The work you produce is beautiful too - so far I've loved every one. One day I might get the opportunity to learn myself. Fascinated by this craft. Thank you ☺
No lacking of your imagination!! Wondering what will come out of this?? Fantastic how well the wood and colored resin chunks will get along very well with each other!! Really great, building a beautiful finish!! Love how striking these color perform as you build the finish!! Totally amazing, how much buffing can grow even better!! Even hove great penmanship!! A lost art, computers have lost our script! The light bring fire to this piece!!
WOW, i love left overs, so colorfull this pice Jim. I have done almost similar for penmaking. I just call then Happy Colours, makes me happy to see so many colours in epoxy. Well done again sir. Regards Hans Olav
I liked the look..., But when it was on the table with the light? BAM! Lovely pinks in soft hues and amethyst purples shining so strong. What a piece! Can't wait for next week. Happy weekend with your people.
I love watching those ribbons of epoxy flying around!! On some of your videos you are explaining to some people (who don’t like it) that you chose to do talking after the fact (voice-overs) to explain what you are doing. I thought I would mention that I do really enjoy that format you’ve chosen. Sometimes it’s fun to hear the noise of the turning, but I also like being able to hear you without the distraction of that noise. I don’t turn wood and never will, but I really enjoy watching your videos and learning about it. Your pieces are beautiful!
The word radical comes to mind; totally retro yet modern, and very much a shout to the 80's in my opinion; the 70's were more round and bubbly in color I'd say. Super swick job, thanks Jim.
Wow Jim, that was fantastic. With the light from above, made it doubly awesome. When you first looked inside, only thing I could think of was the cat I saw in there.
every time you post i say “dang this is my favorite piece you’ve ever done” and here i go again. 😁 can’t wait to see what you do next
Thanks for watching
Another cool piece Jim! Well done, thx, and take care.
