      tire inserts make it a nightmare but there are videos that show you how, they take more time, patience and just little by little pushing and pulling. In spain, we say "maña sobre fuerza" which roughly translates to "skill over brute force" or "knack over whack".

    The trick of pressing the tire/wheel assembly against a wall when mounting the new tire was a ride-saver. After breaking one of my tire levers on a particularly tight new tire, I turned to the internet for some tricks and that was the one that saved my day. Thanks!

    I'd like to see you taking off a Bontrager S4 TubeLess after it has been on the (40mm) rim for half a year. It was the hardest tyre I ever removed in my entire life. Without a vice its almost impossible. Since that day I don't carry an inner tube with me anymore as in the woods I can't get the tyre off anyway....

    I don’t have a vice to break the bead so with punctures, it’s a combination of water pump pliers, utility knife, and pliers to cut through the bead taking care not to damage the rim or tube. Of course, not ideal for a field repair and pricy because it means a new tyre every time! I’ve not managed to find a way of safely breaking the bead yet.

    Funnily enough got stranded on my trekking haibike a few weeks ago and could not break the bead. Anyway one Saturday afternoon I used the whole afternoon to find a way of getting it off! I will be uploading a video soon but basically if you use your feet/trainers either side of the rim pushing the tyre edge down either side and gets lots of spokes balancing the weight across them pull the rim up and hey presto the bead pops then you can use tyre levers to get into the gap! Cheers

    I had an unbelievable experience trying to remove a vittoria banzo 29er , from a Boardman wheel , unbelievable, couldn’t get anything down the side of tyre to rim ,,, ,, I had to put part of wheel and tyre into a sink full of hot soapy water and allow about 10 mins to warm up , then in the end I had to use a blunt srew driver to prize the tyre away from the rim , it’s almost like the tyre was glued or something,,,, I even struggled in yrs past and changed motorbike tyres by hand with only metal levers ,,, but never anything as hard as this git ,, took about 50 mins just to remove 1 side , I never bothered getting the back wheel out to remove that one , was attempting to go tubeless , but I didn’t bother , stuck the tube back in and blew the tyre up , phoned Halfords and they wanted 40 quid to convert 2 ,,, if I include the tubeless kit,,, Sid that I,lll run tubes ,, cheers shane uk 🇬🇧

    Your doing it backwards, you need to do the bit by the valve last. That way you can get the maximum amount of bead sitting in the deep groove in the rim. And wear gloves you'll have more grip. I never use tyre levers

    • @embn
      @embn  5 років тому +1

      Yes this method is also very common but stems from fitting traditional tubed setups as you can push the valve out of the way to avoid potential pinching. The method we demonstrated allows the best chance of a good seal around the valve area on tubeless systems.

    My worst combo of rim + tire is 650 Hope rims 35 mm width & Nano Wtb 2.1 x27.5 .
    Really can't go alone in the woods . Impossible to unstick bead each side .
    I wish there was a product or permanent grease that won't dry out
    and that would be there for the next puncture .
    Dish soap will dry & I suspect it's making next removal worst .

    I think that it's only the rim tape that is making things difficult. With a standard rim, not taped for tubeless, there's usually plenty of room to get the last part over the rim.

    • @embn
      @embn  5 років тому +1

      Yes you are right, tubeless tape is not only for keeping the system air tight but also to help build a snug fit between the tyre bead and the rim so this is a common cause. 👍

  • @rdunk77

    I'd be inclined to start mounting the tyre opposite the valve so the tyre is able to sit fully in the deepest section of the rim well when it starts to get tight, rather than be obstructed by the valve.

      Agree valve last for tubless however, I do valve at three O clock start for tubed tyres, start at 12 finish 6. Physically its the least obstructive to the bead lip but without the hassle of the valve fitting pulling out etc.

    • @nicklovell7745
      @nicklovell7745 4 роки тому +1

      Opposite is the way to go. Starting at the valve just makes the job harder for no reason.

    • @JasonTankard
      @JasonTankard 4 роки тому +1

      @@BarryJTaylor Also, back when using tubes, doing the valve LAST means you can push the valve into the tyre a little and it moves it away from where you are using a lever and less likely to pinch the tube on that last bit. I always learned to do the valve section LAST.

    • @wynnmorris6270

      Always start at the valve when taking the tyre off and finish at the valve when refitting. It allows the bead to sit farther down in the well.
