      @@Pullisto Agree. Possibility one of the most beautiful of all the cruise ships built in the last 70 years. But so many guests want all the sophisticated entertainments and facilities such as cabin balconies these days. I guess we all eventually end up in the 'breaker's yard' at the end of our lives, but it seems so sad to see ships heading for the scrapyard.

    I hate the fact Marco Polo is going to become Toyotas and razors. She is one of the last ocean liners afloat next to Astoria. And she was the last Soviet-built ocean liner. I was so happy to see her go to Dubai to become a hotel but then I heard they backed out and she will be heading to Alang, I freaked out. The fact a historical vessel like her can't be saved is just sad and we have to stick around with these floating boxes. The grand old lady lived a happy life though, a happy and long life that we will all remember. Just such a shame she couldn't be saved.

    Hi Chris, I have enjoyed your videos since joining your channel last March. Very very informative. Sad to learn of how many ships are going off line. Maybe time to slow new builds down until the market opens. I have seen a few of these in post in FLA over the years but never have been able to afford the cruise myself. I enjoy reading the brochures and now via your channel to explore a ship and or voyage of the past. hey, keep up your great work and if you get to Boston, MA on a cruise let me know. Someday I hope to save enough to go on a cruise. Dave

    "used for accomodation". Does this mean that the scrapyard bought the ship for scrap, but instead of selling the steel, decides to keep ship whole as a accomodation block? Just curious on whether it is a one way trip where the ship can never sail again and becomes "landlocked" like the Queen Mary in Long beach.

    Carnica - I hope I have spelled this right- was never AIDAblu, as you have stated in this video. AIDAblu was build for AIDA at the Meyer Werft, delivered in February 2010 and has this typical Thertrium, a distinctive feature no other line has on any of its ships.

    It's sad to see the demise of the older and IMHO more graceful ships while so many really ugly looking cruise ships remain (e.g. P&Os Azura and Ventura). However, I guess it's a response to the current demand and the demand for increasingly sophisticated onboard facilities. I love cruising, but am very reluctant to get onboard a ship until the pandemic is well and truly over. I was ill for several weeks after our last two Cunard cruises (Christmas 2018 and 2019) - not with Covid 19, tummy bugs on both occasions, but it demonstrates just how easy it for viruses and other bugs to spread onboard ship. I was just 11 years old when I first saw the Alexander Pushkin (CMV Marco Polo) at Tilbury, London and I'm now 66!

    have often been described as 'floating cities', and as groups have pointed out that they are just as if not more polluting. A passenger's carbon footprint triples in size when taking a and the emissions produced can contribute to serious health issues. I really havent got too many problems with getting rid of quite a few of them

    They are being scrapped at the breakers near Atatürk , Aliaga Izmir in the North West of the Ismuth at 38.8301234 , 26.9303894 , where it appears that one or 2 may be undergoing repurposing , probably for the Turkish Navy .

    You know if people were kind of smart about it and man might came out way ahead if you would just strip the propulsions anchors and things like that the majority part the commercial kitchens and things like that and just sit in the port for homelessness for the homeless I mean if you really think about it the electrical generation plan on that alone would generate millions of dollars of income per month supplying basic electricity in the cities in the condo possibilities

    Sad also to think they will end up in a notorious Indian ship wrecking beach with all the associated horrors. A grubby business all round.

    Lol they have to get rid of these old ships anyway, not necessarily dud to covid. Cruise ship companies know they need to prepare for the boom thats going to hit when they can operate again. People love cruises and have had to cancel vacations all 2020 and most of 2021.

    Shipbreakers use up oxygen to cut the steel. It should cease immediately and the oxygen provided to the poorest families fighting to breathe due to endemic COVID-19.

    AGENDA 2030

  • @Draxindustries1
    @Draxindustries1 3 роки тому +1

    These cruise ships offer the very worst kind of communal holiday. Disease and illness is always rife.
    The closeness of human smell like toilet use, farts, bad breath, body odour & poor hygiene is much the same as the classic all inclusive hotel ie pretty awful.
    Now that the cruise (disease and illness) industry has finished most will end up on the Bangladeshi beaches broken up which is the very best thing for them..
