I'm Canadian and I understand what you are saying about privacy. I had a new neighbor that was from Somalia and she asked me about all my grown children and what they did and if they had girlfriends or wives and if they had children and what they did for a living. I didn't mind telling her because she told me all about her family. But I can see how that would put people off. I shared my garden and herbs and food with her and she with me, we said hello in passing every day. When I sprained my ankle badly and was off work she came to my house and offered to cook and clean for me and called me her sister, she gave me her phone number to call her for help. Of course, I never took her up on the offer as I have a husband and son that could help. She was a lovely woman. They ended up moving to Toronto and I miss her and her family as they were really nice people.
I love somali people they are hard worker and they are so funy people they make you joking and when they are with you there is no steress so sister you have apig chance becouse your naighboring is somali
I'll summarize the video quickly for you guys: 1) shit weather 2) distant and cold people 3) good luck finding even a crap job 4) cost of living is brutal All of those irrelevant things people ignore when considering a place to live in. Ps. I'm a born and raised Canadian
@@letjvngkook7 May I know which province or city do you live? As I am thinking about moving to the UK or Canada and I see lots of British praises Canada and actually moving lol
@@letjvngkook7 oh really? I thought Toronto is so multicultural comparing to other city in Canada so they should be more accepting. I have traveled to Toronto for a week last year and stayed at my friend's home around Markham seems fine
Honestly, a lot of these are why I want to move to Canada. I want to live somewhere where it's 0 degrees all the time (If not colder). And I like that people are more private. It makes me a little uncomfortable when people basically tell me their life story in 10 minutes.
In Canada it can get to +28 Celsius to +43 Celsius in Summer. In Winter it’s way colder. BC has a mild Winter. I’m Canadian from Alberta. In Spring it’s between +1 to +18. Depends on the day.
I live in Ontario and this winter I had to shovel snow one time most days were in the pluses a very mild winter and in the summer it gets over 30 Celsius
Comme in New Brunswick you’ll love it here! Everyone is friendly we have beach and most people speak their minds without being asshole. We have “big” city if you prefer that but we also have beautiful places that you can be in peace, without plenty of car and pollution with river and forest go check it out on google! I’m sure you’ll find it beautiful 😋
I agree Canadians aren’t honest about there feelings . We keep it to ourselves. Personally I would prefer someone telling me the truth . I used to live in Eastern Europe for 10 years . When I moved back to Canada 🇨🇦 I really realized it
Well William, I would say that just about every Canadian knows the difference between their and there, it is a result of our great education system: There: locational as in over there. Their: possessional as in THEIR feelings. Maybe you spent too much time with the gypsies in Romania.
João Marcelo wow, as a Canadian who has lived in both the USA and Canada, you have no clue when you have it good. You are just a typical foreigner with stars in your eyes caught up in the image of the US that you see portrayed in the movies🤦♀️. You are going to get a swift wake up call if/when you ever move there😂
João Marcelo no, not everyone. You must not be very worldly as Canada has a pretty darn good reputation throughout the world. My in-laws moved to Canada from England.....they had the option of moving to the US. They chose Canada🤷♀️. Oh, and just so you are aware, most of the Northern USA gets pretty cold in the winter as well....
Watching this as I live in miami and my parents are thinking about moving to Toronto canada can you carry firearms over? My dad has a few with a license ofc
@kevin lawrence you recommend anything? My dad owns a barbershop here but hes planing on selling everything would anything fit as a barber in canada and stuff?
That is even much better than Hell choseon(Hell Korea). Interviewers say anything to candidates, such hurting words or curse words even more (on age cultures, elders are supposed to play kings or queens.) We are still living in ancient era.
Sapientum Octavus . Let tell you something , may be one day you are sick, u will be happy to have a free healthcare system for any health problem.we may back less taxes in the U.S but without the basic protection that any citizen deserve.
Canadians can at times be rude, but once you get outside the big cities they're not that bad. And you don't have to worry that they're going to go after you with a shotgun.
For me, one of the disadvantage of living in Canada would be "cultural isolation" everyone is pretty much interacts with the group of people from the same origin. After four years of living in Canada and knowing plenty of people, I still feel lonely and strugling to build the real trust or true friendship.
I moved to Canada a year ago and I don't know anyone outside of my company. Maybe that's because I don't socialize myself but it is true that it's difficult to mingle with people from different culture b/c if there are a group of people of same origin, they probably just discuss their own culture.
I'll be your friend ♥️ My group of friends is multicultural. As a 39 year old woman, I find it hard to make friends and I'm from here. Lol. I suggest finding local groups on Facebook where they encourage meetups. That might help. Or join a local sports and social club.
Dianne Dadabaeva I totally agree with you. That's why I left Canada straight after getting my citizenship, I moved to Japan and was much happier there! I've heard that it's actually quite common for immigrants to get their citizenship and then leave Canada because Canadian life didn't turn out to be the life that they expected it to be. Good luck to you, hope you can find friendlier Canadians.
After watching the video & reading most of the comment all i can say Ones happiness and peace of mind is within one self , not in canada or in any part of this world.
I'm originally from South Korea and I used to live in Texas for 5 years. And then I moved to Montreal, Canada and I've been living here for 5 years as well. Canadians are way more introspective and aloof compared to Americans or Koreans. It's very difficult to make friends here compared to Texas. Idk in other part of the US but it seems like Americans are more aggressively friendly. Making new friends and meeting new people is in their skin. Like Igor said, Canadian people keep distance a little too much. It seems like most people prefer to keep a handful of close friends and stick to them. For example, most people stick with the same clique of friends from high school. People can do the small talk/chit chat with acquaintances but won't go out of their way to make new friends and meet new people. In Texas, socialization was so natural. You didn't even have to seek out. People will invite you and one thing leads to another and you'll get to bond with them. I think weather has a lot to do with it. Canada has a long winter and in winter people don't go out at all so it's hard to keep a wide social circle and keep up. Living in Canada can be quite a lonely experience. You really have to form a social circle/support group and invest in those handful of people otherwise it will be a lonely experience. That's why most immigrants join a church/mosque or any kind of ethnic organization when they first arrive to Canada. There's a bit of a social divide between Canadians and immigrants. I've been here for 5 years and have not made a single Canadian friend. My friends are all immigrants.
@@maxhope7691 that would depend on the person and what kind of lives they are living but many Korean-born Canadians are quite comfortable in their own "Korean church bubble". I would say many Korean-Canadians live like they are immigrants, even those who are born in Canada.
As a Canadian and former 영어 강사 in S. Korea, I fully empathize with you here, and only wish I could have had the chance to be that Canadian friend you say you've lacked thusfar. Though now staying in Vancouver, I even once lived for a time in Montreal ('86 - '93). Anyway, wishing you all the best in future. 👍
YGKay Well if you live in B C there s little or any snow and is the most beautiful province in Canada. Peaches pears plums cherries berries kiwi You can snow ski in the mountains and water ski in the ocean and lakes. Scuba dive in clear ocean waters and catch huge salmon etc!
I'm Canadian, and I can tell you what I like least about Canada, as opposed to Europe for example: rules. Canadians love order and they love rules. Our motto is "Peace, Order and Good Government." (With an emphasis on the order) Nothing in our motto about liberty or freedom. Of course everybody loves peace and good government, but this tendency to control and order can get a bit much. For example, I can sit down in a park in France and drink a glass of wine. Try that in Canada and there's a good chance you'll have your wine poured out and get a steep fine by the local constabulary. Young people are even more apt to be picked on because they tend to be perceived as "disorderly," ie, they like to have fun. (By the way I'm in my 60s). You can get in trouble in Canada by having too much fun in public. There's not much of the "live and let live" attitude here. Seems to me you can have peace without so much order.
There are 4 seasons in Canada : - Almost winter - Winter - Kind of winter - Roads reconstruction Which will be translated (for everybody else) : - Very cold - Extreme cold - Cold - Not cold because people can work outside fixing roads
@@ericmanget4280 Several months...? Severals day more likely, Toronto average only 12 days above 30ºC per year (Montreal only 9), stop saying several months, it is purely false
@@joantonio6331 In Toronto it is boiling for several months of the year. You're contending that it is permanently Winter because only 12 days of the year are above some random, insanely high, threshold? Lol, gtfo.
Accurate take on Canada. I'm an Aussie and have been in Canada for 3 years. Canadians are way too polite and won't speak out about how they feel. And cost of living is terrible. But it is a beautiful country and if you're a refugee you would be lucky to be here.
As a Canadian that has lived in Aussie for some years, I think it's safe to say it easily beats out Canada for overall liveability and the people aren't nearly as fake. Australians will take the piss out of anyone and anything, but make it into good fun. I like how people in Aussie are a lot more upfront and call out bullshit when they see it. I'm looking forward to the day when I can get my full Australian citizenship. It's a nice place to start a family. As for Canadians, most of my fellow countrymen are huge passive aggressive pussies that will never say anything to your face, but will promptly do so once your back is turned. I bet these cucks in the comments section would do the same in person.
I live in Canada and this guy's reasons not to move to Canada are absolutely bang on. In some respects he is a little too generous. He calls Canadians "too private." I would call them secretive and insincere. Also he mentioned the harshness of the winter, but not the length. Winter lasts a minimum of six months, and often a bit more. I'd also mention that Canadian governments, provincial and federal, are spendthrift, so income and sales taxes are frustratingly high.
Toronto. This year winter was about six months Last year the same. The year before the same, except that winter started later and ended later (in early June), but it was still 6 months. Here winter starts sometime in November and is not over until early May.
If you think winters in Toronto are harsh then move to Calgary and experience 9 month winters. Spring starts here in the month of May and trees start shedding the leaves from 1st week of September. Every Canadian Province treat each other as different country and even create hurdles for each other. Intra-Provincial imbargos are common that leads to massive opportunity losses for the citizens.
As a person from Finland, all these reasons "not to move to Canada" are the same as "not to move to Finland". Canada and Finland are almost the same; Freezing cold, beer, very high cost of living, ICE HOCKEY, and people being 'private'. I have always admired Canadian culture, even though its almost the same as Finnish culture. In conclusion, I'd love to move to Canada.
I have been to Finland and I agree but also I think that there is less integration in Finland than even in Canada. Finland has its own culture so if you are not Finnish and you move there you would find it difficult to integrate as Finnish people seem cold and unwelcoming to foreigners there. Nothing wrong with that as they want to protect their country in the midst of mass immigration all over the world which is totally understandable but its just my opinion.
Canada and Finland are not much the same at all. If you think Canada and Finland are one in the same then you must think the USA and Finland are one on the same because Canada is very much just like the USA just colder.
@@Mmmmmdddddd9 i live in south america and my dream is to live in canada due its safety, and youre totally right, life is way worse in other places than Canada
It always annoys me when someone talks about Canada without making any differences between provinces. Quebec, New Brunswick & Newfoundland are like 3 other countries about the culture. Specifically Quebec as they have a different heritage (French) & relations are not the same.
This was fascinating! I'm Canadian and the idea that we would ask somebody about there salary, isn't just unusual...it would be considered *very* rude!
charlie cheeseface bro these are random Uber drivers dressed like homeless people asking me about this stuff. These aren’t respectable people, but then again, everyone is Canada is “equal”.. pitiful.
Exactly, besides I am not sure if we can introduce people here as extremely polite... Never met rude, nasty, morons in this country? If yes, you must be lucky!
Daniel L, Another issue: Since English is the Majority spoken official language, the province of Quebec in terms of Language use is quite dictatorial, people are OPPRESSED from using English in Advertisements and is highly discouraged in schools and most public gathering,. In order to ""Protect"" the French language- How preposterously STUPID! There also exists a "Language Control Unit" which monitors Limits people from using "ENGLISH" in particular. Yikes talk about freedom of expression!
he is right about the private things being kept private, but I am also finding it hard to believe you run into a stranger at the mall and "hey bud, my niece just had her first period the other day, and let me tell you, what a bloody mess that was" is considered a common place conversation anywhere in the world.
Nothing comes free in Canada still Canadians (few) argue as if they are donating everything.. wished while creating human Species God would have shown a little intelligence not to give human crooked mind like these No no misters.. I love the world . God save the world frm heartless humans.. needed some kind of flood or tsunami to show u nothing is urs in this world..
Im from the south, so it wouldnt work for me. 1. Way too cold 2. All classic cars are rusty 3. Cant farm all year round 4. Chewing tobacco way too expensive 5. Roads are way too rough on classic cars
I can't stand Canadian hypocrisy! I always get a feeling that I'm talking to a smiling photograph and there is no way to see what's behind this photo. All this "being nice and polite" is just a fear to be open and sincere.
that's kinda culture here you don't like someone you move away if you don't have a problem you speak but you don't share private life it's not hypocrisy it's just tryna be nice they don't call us nice for a reason also do not I repeat NEVER talk about or complain about weather
Reasons Not To Move 1. Cold Weather - if you're used to warm weather in your country Canada may not be for you, its sunny but its still 0 degrees 2. Retailers - if you're used to smalls shops where you can buy some bread from a bakery or get your shoes fixed, Canada has usually big shops, the small shops do exist but they are more expensive 3. Canadians Can Be Too Private - In Canada they are gonna smile and say you're an awesome person even if they don't like you 4. Canadians Keep Stuff To Themselves - they don't like talking about how much they make, there family situation etc 5. Finding A Job Takes Time - not every job is gonna pay you're bills, finding a job here takes time, it may take you a few years to find a good job 6. Canada Is Not Cheap - the cost of living here is really high, unless you know how to save 7. The City's Are Very Spaced Out i would still say i'm amazed by this country, if i could immigrate again i would
PGRunner ' yea and 14 year olds have close in age gap relations where they can date someone up to 5 years meaning they can be with someone who is 19 and 15 year olds can be with 20 year olds 🤢🤢🤢
This video is insanely inaccurate. I’m glad I’m safe to walk to down the street. I’m glad I have food on my table. But hey others countries have lots of racism, shootings, but hey don’t move to Canada it’s too cold
I am Canadian. What I find unpleasant in Canada, darkness and depression in the winter time, high cost of consumer goods as compared to USA, small and sluggish job market compared to USA, high taxes....
i don't see the thing about sunlight, and if you are having 8 months of winter, you must be living up in Nunavut. if not your lying. cause even Michigan which is in the exact time zone as Toronto, has the exact same amount of daylight in the winter. hell even Ohio.
Thank you for finally someone who does not sugar-coat everything about Canada and tells the truth! I was born in Canada and can tell you it is not easy for Canadian-Born either. Regardless of if you're from here or an immigrant, you will have to work your ass off to make it here. I worked two jobs for many years 70-80 hours a week. Many do this because their spouse will raise the children while they do this because day-care costs a fortune and would take half your wages. There is no easy street here! Canada was built by people from all over the world busting their ass and working hard. If you're a student, you will have to work at the same time because it is so expensive. We work hard and play hard in Canada. Life is rewarding here and I hear from my immigrant friends we have it very good compared to other countries. So if you decide to move here, don't think it will be easy and be ready to work yourself hard and to prove yourself. God Bless you and thank you for choosing my beautiful Country to live.
As a born and bred Canadian, when I first saw title of the video, I was like wait, wait, what... dems fighting words. But you know what, he nailed us right on. On a personal note, yea, it would be really nice if interviewers told you why they didn't think you were right for the position. I didn't realize not being told wasn't universal around the world.
One factor in employment interviews is the human rights legislation that has taken away the old freedom of association. It can be dangerous from a legal point of view to be frank with a job candidate about why you aren't offering them a job.
John Casey here in the US its not common. You just get a standard email; "thanks for applying, but we have chosen a candidate whose skills more closely match". Blah blah.
one major difference i notice: when someone bumps into you in canada, you apologize to them, suggesting it is your fault to avoid confusion or not lay any blame. germany. when you bump into someone by accident, lookout is all i can say. prepare to carry your cleats and helmet with you at all times...
Dude I am an American and have no stake on the matter but your speech says more about Ukraine than Canada. I cannot imagine a total stranger asking me about my daughter or my private life. Normally English speaking folks don't talk about their salaries. I'll give you that Canada is horrendously expensive but not more than the UK or even Russia. Gas in Canada is ridiculous how expensive it is. Groceries not that far behind. I was recently in Nova Scotia and a gallon of milk would be about $6 here in the US about $2
David Lp I think this video is most helpful to Ukrainians or other Eastern Europeans considering moving to Canada. It is good to know the cultural differences. I think a more generalized list of negatives on Canada would not be helpful to anyone and this comparison of experiences gives a clearer picture. Groceries and gas are expensive in Canada. Sometimes for groceries it is warranted and sometimes it is not. For example in many provinces we have different standards for milk in regards to hormones and steroids in dairy cows. Milk production takes longer because of this and costs more. Ultimately we are getting a healthier product to purchase but it does come at a higher price tag.
You have a point there. From an Eastern European point of view the entire story may change its message. For us Americans pretty much everything in Canada is more expensive. Fuel is unreal how expensive it is. From car rentals to groceries everything is way more expensive. Someone said that it depends on the province but I disagree. For an American regardless which province the cost of living is substantially more expensive than down here. Good video there.
@Dorian If you were to do the math you'd see that it is not quite right what you say here. Canada is way better than the US in social aspects. We have none of these social programs. If our employer doesn't offer med ins we are in dire straights as to buy it privately it will be in excess of $1,200 per month. Dental is another exorbitant cost. But we get to chose what we are paying for. Your taxes gives the gov the rights to decide where your money goes. We are talking cosmetics. I'd pay your taxes if we could guarantee that we would not have Trump in the White House. In Canada you have way less crazies, crime and disturbed officials (ieTrumponians). What you call rough people up there is what we call regular folks down here. I just saw a video about your jails and inmates life style, dude that is motel 8 in the US. If the cost of living in Canada were lower you'd be several folds better than the US to live.
David, please remember to convert. It would have been a four-litre container (slightly more than a US gallon), and $6 Canadian is about US$4.65. I live near Toronto and pay $4.27 (US$3.29) for four litres of low-fat milk.
Still $3.29 versus $1.96 ON milk but booze is another story how ridiculously expensive it is in Canada. Julian since you live near the border is it OK for you to cross the border to fill up your tank or is it frown upon to do? Housing I hear it is way cheaper up there. BTW in smaller stores in Canada they were exchanging 1 US dollar for 1 CA dollar, haha
I may be wrong, but going to Toronto and the GTA a few times showed me how super reserved western Canada is. I’m born and raised in Alberta and yeah, I don’t like people encroaching on my privacy. I appreciate it when people mind their own business. But I noticed how friendly Toronto and the GTA was, specifically Brampton, was compared to Edmonton. In all honestly, if I had it my way, I would have packed my things and left for southern parts of the States. I hate winter.
Born and lived in Canada all my life. Love it much and it is only cold in winter as with other countries. The only disadvantage are taxes taxes taxes and property prices in urban centers are through the roof.
Canada is not even a country,if I buy beer in QC and I transport it into say NB I have a big problem, for me that is not a country under one flag that is BS. Still I would give my life too defend Canada
Isnt that always the case anywhere in the world. The vastness of the Canadian wilderness doesn't give you an excuse... freedom is hard work we all want the easy city life well it requires taxes
@chucky Taxes pay for "free" health care? Where's the free then? My American family and friends enjoy they're lower tax rates.. They have employer benefits as well and don't pay for everything as people think. They pay tolls if they want to take certain highways just like I pay for the 407 in Ontario.. Have you driven the 401? It's a nightmare. Many 1st class countries in Europe don't have taxes as high as Canada and have the same services.
Christian S you pay less than upfront as it is in America. Here you could pay what you pay in taxes to an agency that would only cover up to and above specific amount leaving you to pay often crippling medical bills. And that’s if you’re lucky enough to have good insurance. Some US cancer survivors are so overwhelmed by medical debts that they’re dead either way. Whereas you pay for healthcare through taxes and don’t need to worry as often if your broken leg will send you into homelessness
I can give you an answer. 1;)You will get very little for your money. 2:)You will be a prisoner to the system. 3:)You will pay a lot in taxes. 4:)If you are of low income status you will always be there because they do not allow you to work for more than a fixed amount of money. 5:)Canadian doctors and mental health workers will discriminate against you based on your social status. 6:)The weather is cold and the selection of natural food is limited to seasons. 7:)Organic is not always organic (you never know what they are selling you..and you pay a fortune for "good quality" that in your home country you are bless with raw buffalo milk, mango trees, warm weather, connected families etc.... 8:)in Canada the Children Aid society can try to take your kids awat for spanking their bum. They do not want your children to be discplined to methods you may be used to in your country. This comes with consequences. Spolied children, consumed with technology and crappy food. 9:)You can not find any good quality places to eat dinner at, forget about Portugal beef and potatoes with fresh vineyard wine. 11:) Welcome to the world of Time Hortons and Mcdonalds..11:)Forget about your rights! You need to give up all your rights here to government, pay taxes, shut up and be NORMAL. Canada is a country i am LEAVING. I was born here. The only good thing about this place, getting a internationally recognized degree. That's it. Unless you enjoy being an ignorant, conforming citizen. The freedom is no more than the freedom in a turkish prison. You get arrested for basic things, that in other countries you can have a lot less restrictions, freedom, food, equality. I can go on and on. this guy is totally delusional. DONT BELIEVE HIS IGNORANCE. Have fun being a slave to the system. Weed legalization is just a trick into making you more delusional to the degrading system of canadian government.
In 2005 I wrote a (somewhat) famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. I was ahead of my time. The government essentially made me unemployable in the country. So I left and worked in the United States until 2014. I now permanently live in the Philippines. I would never go back to Canada for any reason: not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. In the last ten (10) years Canada has gone completely down the drain and is currently a North Korea style dictatorship. No freedom, too expensive, very high income tax . . . too depressing. I am happy here in Asia, with much friendlier people.
If you dream of becoming rich, don’t move to Canada. Between the high cost of living and never ending taxes, it is harder and harder to achieve the dream here.
Yeah I know, that's why there are only 39 billionaires in the country, it is only the 10th highest on the planet, you have better chances of becoming wealthy in North Korea. You are a fucking idiot.
Born and raised Calgary.... You run out of things to do by age 12 and every year after is like painstakingly waiting for a chance to leave the place but you can't because to go anywhere is a tank of gas and a half into nothing Saskatchewan or middle of the Mountains BC. It might be different if you come here to live, it's likely very different from your own home nation but if you want culture, food or experiences that aren't the outdoors it's really not here. You'd be suited to just moving to England where there's actual history to explore
As an introvert I’d prefer it, I don’t like getting a haircut or dental work or doctor because all of them ask you the most personal questions about your job and plans and family and anything. It’s worse than any other social situation, I don’t know why they think it’s ok to ask such things (in us) I always feel judged by them no matter what I say too.
Why move to Canada if you want everything the same as your country??? And your judgment of how Canadien are is really an insult... Why not just go back to your country if living in Canada is so bad? Why not point the millions positif thing while your at it!!!!
I'll give you my top 5: 5: It's cold and it snows. 4: It's cold and it snows. 3: It's cold and it snows. 2: It's cold and it snows. and this one will shock you. 1: It's cold and it snows.
my reason number one, immigrated here to canada i have a good job as a software developer but i can say that canada is boring asf if you are young and you come from a country with nightlife, most of the bars here are sports bars basically all look the same are like bar/restaurants, there really nothing to see everybody will say that nature is amazing but in reality are only like forest and lakes that all look the same... is not like the US or latin america where there are many places totally different, and yes is true canadians are not friendly are polite they are programmed to smile but doesnt mean anything... is better just to find other imigrants to hangout...
I don't know where you get your information on the summer temperature here in Canada but you should revise them. Summer temperature is often over 30 degrees with high humidity witch make it feel 38-40 degrees Celcius (86 F feeling more like 100-104 F).
*_I'm Canadian, and in MY naked eyes, hot weather SUCKS! I USED TO LOVE IT, BUT NOT ANYMORE. A TRUE CANADIAN LIKES ALL 4 SEASONS. AND I CAN'T IMAGINE A CHRISTMAS WITHOUT SNOW. That would SUCK BALLS!_*
Jonty Shahi go back to your one country, you will be much happier. Retourne chez toi, tu compare dans ton rétroviseur ce que tu avais avant chez toi, maintenant regarde par en avant . Où retourne chez toi.
In Canada, -f your taxable income (i.e. after personal exemptions) was $50,000 in 2017, you would calculate your federal tax as follows: Pay 15% on the amount up to $45,916, or $6,887. Pay 20.5% on the amount between $45,916 to $91,831 or $837.22.
man that tax in canada is nothing compared to europe and specifically belgium where you pay up to 50% taxes on your income and 21% taxes on everything you buy beside food which is less
Aah as an international student here there is only one thing wrong in your comment ..There is no point in visiting here ... Nothing but just snow and more snow... If u want to travel go to eastern europe .
Wow! describing a country with 10 provinces, 3 territories, big cities, small cities, regional villages, a french speaking province, maritimes regions, Rocky Mountain regions, historical cities (Quebec, Montreal), big USA like malls, USA like food ans cloths chains, but also small pop and mom stores everywhere,... as a single uniform cultural profile! I think you should travel more in Canada before making such statements. But yes few caracteristics are commun for all Canada: winter is cold, people are generally opened and welcoming, family is important, people well-being is a value and healthcare is accessible and a universal right. I'm happy you like this beautiful country.
Stephen G people are also very cold and selfish in Canada. Surprisingly, most of Canadians are uneducated compared to the immigrants who come with great qualifications. May be Canadians are too poor to send their kids to schools.
I think Canada is the best.. they have amazing food, kind people, everyone appreciates each other, but you see I don’t know why people in other countries are talking bad about Canada/ and really the prices here in Canada aren’t even that expensive except for Nunavut. And the only reason why is because they are up north and they have to ship it up there. So please don’t make anymore videos of negativity towards Canada. Thank you,
Igor Sorry I thought that you were just someone from another country. I am so sorry it’s just when I see a video that says “Top Ten Reasons Not To Move To Canada » I just really don’t like it if someone was from another country and they are saying bad things about the country. I am so, so, sorry ( and I know I probably don’t have the best grammar)
Canadians are socially handicap people and dude it is not cold it is extremely cold. Canada has one of the worst weathers in the world. It is extremely tough to survive in Canada and it is getting worse. Just look at the housing price or the rents. How can a new immigrant afford a roof over his head. I wouldn’t advise anybody to move to Canada. Canada needs to improve its economy, work life balance and family values. Safe security and health benefits are nice but it doesn’t matter to a young healthy individual.
Please seek other countries to migrate. Why not try the European Union. Make a choice between Germany, France or Italy. Canada is only for serious migrants who want to go thru the struggle of a better future. Good luck to you Noman Amjad!!!!
Someone living in a large city I take it, which is the same the world over. And unless you are living in the extreme north then the winters are cold as anywhere else in the same latitude and quite hot in the summer, unless you live on the west coast like me where it's pretty mild all year round.
For me as a Siberian the cold weather is the main reason why I should live somewhere like Canada or Russia. Now I'm in Spain, it's Christmas, but the weather is like in early September in my hometown. I miss snow and cold air so much, I'm nearly depressed only because it's not real winter holidays for me. I've been studying here for three months, and I've decided that I would never live permanently in such climate. Never. I know, for a lot of people it may sound crazy, but it's true.
Alex \LG Well in B C there is no snow to speak of and is the most beautiful province in Canada. I am from Ottawa Ontario and lived there for one year. Terrific!
I would not recommend anyone migrate to Canada I have lived here my life and have many friends who have migrated to Canada and let me tell you many regret it... The cost of living is very high and getting worse and you get taxed to death your life will become work work and work so you can afford to live .... If you doubt this .. then look at the proof people actually save every dime all year to take a week long vacation in a 3rd world country just to get away ........... Think about that !
obviously you have not met someone who lived in southern California. i have worked 40 hour weeks for 3 years and not taken more then a day off. still live paycheck to paycheck. and i am lucky to even have full time employment. it is not common.
@@mashakhalfan5836 Don't. Stay and make your country great. So you don't end up as backwards as Canada. I myself and planning to move. Never to return after college. The rest of the world has more money, opportunity, better weather, better food, cheaper living etc. Also most importantly better people. Most don't want to marry and if they do they think they can be a whore and a mother at the same time.
I don’t get why I’m not the only one who has had really horrible experiences in Canada I’m from here but lately I keep getting singled out and targeted there’s no culture here it’s very superficial over priced too cold I’ve had a few life threatening experiences now it’s awful they won’t leave me alone it’s deranged I think it’s an awful boring cold country
After graduation from a Canadian college in 2014 I moved 3 times, changed 3 jobs plus a part time, then moved to another city and acquired my Master's degree, now I finally got a 'real job' that I can start building a career with. But worth the struggling because it's pretty fun...kinda costly though lol
I was born and raised in Canada, still live there and have spent enough time in both Canada and the United States to get an accurate read on both countries. I also recognize that there are far worse places in the world to live. (Hello, Iran, Venezuela, Syria, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, China and Russia! - among many others). Here are MY top ten reasons not to move to Canada: 1. Taxed. To. Death. Five decades of primarily tax-and-spend totalitarian-minded liberal government (spear-headed from 1968 by Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau, who gave away Canada's banking systems to the Rothschild banking cartel in 1974) has left this country with a combined federal and provincial debt somewhere north of 1.3 trillion dollars with a population of 35 million - and a politically-engineered stagnant economy with no hope of getting this debt under control let alone paid down. This is but one of many reasons taxes are so high in Canada. The average Canadian pays over half of their income to some form of tax, user fee or enviro levy. 2. Canada's so-called "free" health care system is the most expensive on earth from a tax-inhaling perspective, so it should be among the world's best and most efficient, right? Uh, far from it. Waiting list are long, and many life-saving treatments are not covered. It's like they WANT you to hurry up and die so that they a) don't have to pay out your Canada pension plans when you retire for any longer than they deem necessary and b) so that they can tax your estate and inheritances to the hilt as soon as possible. 3. The Canada Pension Plan is a Ponzi scheme, the scale of which makes Bernie Madhoff's crimes look like a jay-walking ticket by comparison. After paying into that system for 40 years, even if your contributions had been invested in simple interest you'd still have built a nest egg of several hundred thousand dollars. But instead they roll the pension fund into that black hole known as "general revenue", and then give pensioners
Of course, there are negatives about Canada as NO country is perfect . 1) Income taxes in Canada are a bit high ( about 10-15 % of an average salary of 40 000 a year) 2) Sales taxes ( except for food and school books) about 13% of every article bought in a store 3) Winter : about 6 long months non-stop from early October to end of April (below zero celsius) 4) Distances : from Toronto to Montreal , about 6 hours by car driving at 100 km/hr 5) Cell phones monthly service : minimum 25-30 dollars 6) Bar drinks : expect 5-6 dollars plus tips for a glass of beer I could go on but you get the gist ! On the other hand, there are positives but that was not the theme in this video !
I’ve been living in Vancouver for 6 years and I think the city is great, except the house price is messed up and isolation. People here are friendly but difficult to bond with. Culture diversity make people stay in their own culture group and unwilling to attach with others. I mean I surely have friends from many culture backgrounds, but they aren’t really “friends.” We greet each other and make polite conversation but that’s it.
I really agreed with him and other comments below this video. In my personal opinion, Canada is not best country and same with other countries too. One of the reason is that why i really to leave because they're one of the problems when it's comes to miscommunications and nothing compared to America. They do not speak their mind, they're are hard to bond and they're nothing compared to Americans and that's it. Americans are more socialized peoples I ever met in my life and to this day, I strongly believed they're dupitious when it's comes to certain standards and only under different circumstances. I really disagreed with a lot and a lot of them and they're really don't agreed with me most of the time but Americans was always theres for me and shine on me I've realized some Canadians are nice but they're not nice nice and y'all need to understand that if you want. canada can be up to 60 in the summer, i got heatstroke almost 8 times. and the snow does come a bit early, but only in some places. i live in vancouver and it does rain quite a lot but that's because at the moment it's autumn, but barely ever snows.
The taxes are ridiculously high. I am Canadian and its bad enough that 40 percent of my paycheck is taxed but what really gets you is the after tax tax. GST on everything you buy, land tax/ property tax, school tax, carbon tax, enviro taxes etc. also commuting is a big expense. Big country with lots of room in between work, home, school, stores etc. Fuel prices are fairly high compared with our southern neighbors. averaging 1.30 a liter. Public transportation mostly sucks and isn't set up very well in most cities. Food is crazy expensive too! blocks of cheese anyone? that will be 20 bucks, 4 liter jug of milk? 5 bucks please. we pay probably the highest amount for wireless services as well. it is not uncommon for 200 to 300 dollar a month wireless costs. Lets talk about winter. It has its own costs associated with it as well, as if the temperature isn't bad enough, you need a completely different wardrobe, the heating costs double, Electricity bills double, certain foods become more expensive, warm up time for vehicles, snow removal costs (in some areas) winter tires for vehicles, the list goes on. it is also very dark here in the winter, where I live it is only sometimes 8 hours of daylight a day so its pitch black going to work and its pitch black coming home. seasonal depression is a thing because of these factors. I lived through a 7 month winter last year. It is the middle of September now and there is already snow on the ground! very poor growing season in most parts of Canada. I am not trying to make it sound unlivable but it can be quite a lot to take in if a person hasn't experienced the climate before. I hope some of these points help you. Even with all of the above points I'm not really sure id want to live anywhere else, it has some pretty darn good points too. violence is low in most parts, nature is pretty easy to find. beautiful lakes. land ownership isn't totally out of the question in many parts of Canada (yet.)
LOL What are you talking about. Violence in Canada is huge, the government just covers it up and puts a happy face on it. Like they do with everything and anything that makes Canada look bad.
2:06 Not necessarily. It depends where you live. I've lived in Canada my entire life specifically Ontario and I know for a fact the near every neighbourhood there's a grocery store or a store in general.

Canadian here: telling someone "I don't like you" if you don't know them that well is just rude. We WILL tell you our life story- and ask you about yours- within knowing you a relatively short time. I work with the public. Believe me, I hear the most intimate details of stranger's lives on a daily basis. And share mine. We are basically a nation of over-sharers. We like to make friends. But- he is right. Do not ask us about our finances. That is not your business. Or our love-lives, for the most part, other than peripherally. (I.E. it is ok to ask if someone is married or has kids. Not ok to ask if our spouse "satisfies" us. Nothing approaching sexual in tone. Don't be creepy.) I work with a lot of Indo college kids. They are really nice kids. They often call me "Auntie". Occasionally one of them asks a question that your average Canadian would consider "pushy". I just smile and say, "Why did you ask me that?" Sometimes it's not pushy at all- just awkward wording. I don't cop an attitude with anyone who speaks more languages than I do!
1 ) people are too polite 2 ) they call there money canadough 3 ) there's only one road in Canada 4 )It's cold and there's bears outside 5 ) they say hate and about wrong 6 ) there jaw isn't connected to there head 7 ) you have to be a lot closer to the usa than most other countries 8 ) you'd better start liking ice hockey 9 ) hmm maple syrup 10) did I say how cold it is ?
Been living 19 years in Canada: 1)Yes we are polite but we don't like to take shit. 2)It's Canadian dollars. 3)Roads are plenty and better then most countries I've been to including Europe and USA 4)I've never seen a bear except in a cage in India/Pakistan or as a dance worker on the street in India/Pakistan 5)Buddy care to learn some English, we offer free ESL classes! 6)Jaws are only hinged to the head for almost all humans. 7)Yes you can drive to work, study, weekend, even shopping across the border. 8)I've never liked ice hockey but know some crazy football freaks, I once saw an ice hockey match and it was sure captivating as hell, just like cricket used to be for me, but a faster and much shorter match. 9)Maple syrup lollipop suckers are addictive, one reason I visit gift shops at Niagara falls, I'm always a tourist in my own country. 10)Yes the true definition of "cold" is to be learned here in the winter, But summers can be as hot, And all seasons including the spring, summers and fall are most beautiful that I have seen anywhere.
I'm thinking about studying medicine in Canada, then living there. Problem is in Canada you have to be a Canadian to study medicine, and in certain universities they allow 2 international students per year. Competition will be crazy, but as an A+ student, I could overcome that. I'm thinking about studying pre-med and med there, then work there, apply for permanent residency, then citizenship. The only family I have in Canada is my cousin who lives there. Any suggestions???

I live on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Besides the odd winter storm, my grass is green 8 months of the year, and temperature hovers around zero degrees - most of the time - and lower than -15 is rare. Spring and fall is sweater weather, an summers can be brutally hot and humid! We're indoors in winter and summer except for sports and fun, with windows closed for heat or air conditioning, whereas, warm countries I have visited have open windows year round, and people are always outside and mingling.
You are not alone on this one, in Canada they love to say that they are welcoming to new immigrants, but they are not. They have so many stereotypes and prejudices against foreigners, that it is difficult to adapt and be accepted. After 20 years of trying I quit; they do have second class citizens, it doesn't matter if you have a PhD or are able to contribute to their society. Your accent, the colour of your skin, your gender or your sexual preference comes first when they judge you. There are some very nice people, but unfortunately, not enough in proportion. Very sad.
As an Indian, roaming around the world for more than 8 years, I prefer Indians must concentrate in improving life quality within India and earn their dignity. Also as we are more than 1.3 billion people , other country men get really scared about the sight of brown skinned Indians as we can understand if all of us tried to migrate. So a stronger India is not only the need of Indians but for the world. We cannot just be a burden to any country. Need to control our population , leave religions of all kind and advance scientifically and technologically.
As a Canadian, i agree with everything he said. It's best to stay away from Canada because we have a lot of faults and you really need a lot of patience and tolerance to live here.
I can not find positive things in Canada, if I compere it with Europe. Climat bad, No free education, small and ugly cities in long distance, everything very expancive, far from good resorts vhere you can spend vacation. One positive thing is a language.
I am canadian. I agree with a lot of this. I am very open and i dont care about offending people, but a lot of people here are just so uncomfortable lol. Most of the things he pointed out are totally true and some of it is offputting for sure! Oh i thought of another one! this could be positive or negative depending on what you care about , but i have travelled in some places that are more chaotic. Canada is pretty organized lots of rules and stuff like that but like...i question how fun of a people we are. I think we are kind of boring honestly LOL and with so many rules / regulations about who can do what job, i do feel it stifles our ability to genuinely enjoy our day to day life and slide between lifestyles. I know marijuana use is a taboo in some places, but its pretty common place in canada. But a lot of ppl here at least on the west coast like near vancouver used to make lots of money off of it... and like honestly, its not as harmful as some things even alcohol is honestly worse imo. But like, the point of bringing marijuana up is that the government legalized it... then they regulated the shit out of it so that honestly, it just killed the ability to make cash heavily off of it. But this is just one example, i feel like this is the way we do everything! Anybody think im crazy?

Russians and other East Europeans are blunt, they just tell you to your face if they like or don't like what they see. Canada, we are polite, we need to keep the good interaction memorable for long, because sometimes being blunt is not a good way to go.
I used to hear about Canada's Politeness. They're well known for it. However, in my experience living there off and on for years, their "Politeness" is very surface/superficial level. They tend to be fake a lot. Especially in places like Ontario. Way too many fake people mixed with great people so it can get very confusing to know who is who so most just default to assuming everyone you meet is fake. Sounds harsh but it'll save you a lot of stress. Beware, Canadians are also masters of passive-aggressiveness and they use this skill shamelessly but they're quite effective with it. If you work hard about keeping your head about what truly matters (and not materialism, which is huge in Canada/Ontario) you'll enjoy yourself and find good people to enjoy life with but it takes some hard work to do. If you're lucky to find your groove in Canada, you'll find it difficult not to like it (or even to leave) but if you don't find your groove, it'll feel like living hell.
What you described is pretty much a reality across North America, not only 🇨🇦 But, keep in mind there’s a huge difference between rural Canada and big cities. Living in Toronto or Montreal, you’ll definitely find fake people, rude people, materialistic people.... I know plenty of them. But you’ll also find charming, real and sincere people, down to earth
@@olyl3859 Yes, you just described the uniqueness of Canadian racism. Yes, you find that in North America and the world (I have lived in several countries for years) but there is a noticeable increase in Canadian society and no, it is found both in Rural, Urban and most certainly in the suburbs. Racism in Canada is unique when compared to other parts of the world. It is sneaky and covert. That is why it persists and will be difficult to change. American society is fairly open with its racism. Canada on the other hand fights to deny it and hide it. Any time you tell people about the dang racism in Canada, they get highly offended and can get aggressive too. That is a similar pattern to people who are covert narcissists or abused person in denial. You show them all the ways Canada is racist and they reply with a number of retorts like: "well, in my neighbourhood, all people of all races party together" or "well, you get that everywhere" or my favourite "maybe you should find a canadian friend cause.." Yes, Canada is racist. The more it is denied, the longer it takes to fix it.
@@olyl3859 Oops, sorry. I responded to a different post about racism in Canada and it accidentally got posted here. However, to address your post, no, that isn't true either. Like I stated earlier, I've lived in a number of Countries - Japan, Angola, Kenya, Scotland, Netherlands, California, Aruba, Canada - and have visited others too. I had little to no issues finding genuine people to spend and share time with. In Canada, it was definitely different. I found a lot more than what I've found to be "normal" amounts of fake people. It'll take time to figure it out so if you're visting or having a short term stay, a lot of the people (especially in Ontario) may seem caring and loving but like I also said, with time, you'll realize a lot of it is fake. This can cause some mental distress for some people. Ontario right now has a mass problem with mental health and I think is partly to do with a society that exhibits strong resemblance to covert narcissistic traits. But that's just a theory of mine. So, one can disagree with me. Sure, that's fine and dandy, but one cannot gaslight me into believing the experiences I've witnessed in Canada are not reality.

My friends are all immigrants.
do you consider a Korean-born Canadian as an immigrant or Canadian?
@@maxhope7691 that would depend on the person and what kind of lives they are living but many Korean-born Canadians are quite comfortable in their own "Korean church bubble". I would say many Korean-Canadians live like they are immigrants, even those who are born in Canada.

Canada is way, way, way colder than Ireland. Dublin is as warm as Victoria BC, which is the warmest city in Canada

There are 4 seasons in Canada :
- Almost winter
- Winter
- Kind of winter
- Roads reconstruction
Which will be translated (for everybody else) :
- Very cold
- Extreme cold
- Cold
- Not cold because people can work outside fixing roads
Exactly 😂😂

Accurate take on Canada. I'm an Aussie and have been in Canada for 3 years. Canadians are way too polite and won't speak out about how they feel. And cost of living is terrible. But it is a beautiful country and if you're a refugee you would be lucky to be here.
lol see you guys are mean^^^^^stay in canada
Australia is way more expensive
Please go back , unless you are behind bars then pay your crime and Good Bye.
I would call Canadians "cold" --just like the climate. Polite, but very cold.
William S.
Where do you live that winter is 6 months?
Must be an anglophone thing the cold part...thats not been my experience with french-canadians.
One negative is that people is so individualist, it is difficult to make friends. Lot of people are lonely and not open to socialize.

I can't stand Canadian hypocrisy! I always get a feeling that I'm talking to a smiling photograph and there is no way to see what's behind this photo. All this "being nice and polite" is just a fear to be open and sincere.
that's kinda culture here you don't like someone you move away if you don't have a problem you speak but you don't share private life
it's not hypocrisy it's just tryna be nice
they don't call us nice for a reason
also do not I repeat NEVER talk about or complain about weather
I hate you for that! Now I'm going to catch YOU out being a hypocrite!
Respect for these thoughts, as a Canadian I think they are quite accurate.
Reasons Not To Move
1. Cold Weather - if you're used to warm weather in your country Canada may not be for you, its sunny but its still 0 degrees
2. Retailers - if you're used to smalls shops where you can buy some bread from a bakery or get your shoes fixed, Canada has usually big shops, the small shops do exist but they are more expensive
3. Canadians Can Be Too Private - In Canada they are gonna smile and say you're an awesome person even if they don't like you
4. Canadians Keep Stuff To Themselves - they don't like talking about how much they make, there family situation etc
5. Finding A Job Takes Time - not every job is gonna pay you're bills, finding a job here takes time, it may take you a few years to find a good job
6. Canada Is Not Cheap - the cost of living here is really high, unless you know how to save
7. The City's Are Very Spaced Out
i would still say i'm amazed by this country, if i could immigrate again i would

merc340sr I love the grey sky in the winter, the only thing I dislike about Canada is the depressed job market
merc340sr
The taxes in the Us are the reason the entire country I going to go bankrupt. Sound like a great please to live during the economic anarchy,
I feel more depressed in winter due to lack of sunlight. Occasionally, I get depressed from very hot weather too...
merc340sr
Please add that Canada is an English colony
i don't see the thing about sunlight, and if you are having 8 months of winter, you must be living up in Nunavut. if not your lying. cause even Michigan which is in the exact time zone as Toronto, has the exact same amount of daylight in the winter. hell even Ohio.
See people, if a women tell's you that, " I love you" she doesn't really mean it.
Perfect. I'm an introvert.
Blah blah.
Poor you. Potential employers owe nothing as to why they didn't choose you. Get over your entitlement.
one major difference i notice: when someone bumps into you in canada, you apologize to them, suggesting it is your fault to avoid confusion or not lay any blame. germany. when you bump into someone by accident, lookout is all i can say. prepare to carry your cleats and helmet with you at all times...
I never heard a Canadian say "dems fighting words" lol
I love how this guy loves Canada, had to brainstorm hard to find bad things and he still would come here
Dude I am an American and have no stake on the matter but your speech says more about Ukraine than Canada.

JP Geurts Canada is a country dumbo

Having privacy is a good thing though
That's just kindneess
As an introvert I’d prefer it, I don’t like getting a haircut or dental work or doctor because all of them ask you the most personal questions about your job and plans and family and anything. It’s worse than any other social situation, I don’t know why they think it’s ok to ask such things (in us) I always feel judged by them no matter what I say too.
Entirely a matter of culture or personality type. There's no "good" or "bad" to it.
I agree. I’m an introvert and I do not want people encroaching on my privacy.

Zulficar hamid how rude! Canada is basically the nicest country

I wish more people would heed your advice :((

I work in the Philippines right now and they always celebrate Christmas with a 30 degrees celsius plus temperature. Cannot be further away from snow!
Number one reason i moved away from Canada - It's SLIGHTLY too cold 😂😂😂
No jobs and the taxes are too high to live.

Try not living in Toronto Vancouver live in the middle its alot cheaper where I live 133k cad for house

This dude just isn’t in a small town there are those shops everywhere that he explained in the beginning where I live
Of course, there are negatives about Canada as NO country is perfect .
1) Income taxes in Canada are a bit high ( about 10-15 % of an average salary of 40 000 a year)
2) Sales taxes ( except for food and school books) about 13% of every article bought in a store
3) Winter : about 6 long months non-stop from early October to end of April (below zero celsius)
4) Distances : from Toronto to Montreal , about 6 hours by car driving at 100 km/hr
5) Cell phones monthly service : minimum 25-30 dollars
6) Bar drinks : expect 5-6 dollars plus tips for a glass of beer
I could go on but you get the gist !
On the other hand, there are positives but that was not the theme in this video !

That is NOT THE THEME of this video !

Very sad.

Russians and other East Europeans are blunt, they just tell you to your face if they like or don't like what they see.
Canada, we are polite, we need to keep the good interaction memorable for long, because sometimes being blunt is not a good way to go.
Hmm
thats is not just east europe thats is typical for all europeans execpt the southern europeans.
Groove? Did you try getting cat?
You show them all the ways Canada is racist and they reply with a number of retorts like:
"well, in my neighbourhood, all people of all races party together" or "well, you get that everywhere" or my favourite "maybe you should find a canadian friend cause.."
Yes, Canada is racist.
Good morning, sir. Thanks a lot first. Second, I am a Moroccan teacher of English. I have two children( 4 y.o+ 2 y.O.). Do you think I will find a position in teaching there given that I'm married to a housewife. Do you think Canada will be a good choice?
yes
Or Netherlands
Holy shit, you filmed this in Oakville Ontario. I always travel on that road. There’s a Walmart nearby.
A walmart in Canada? No F****king way
Next time put 50 reasons, that’s we have space to live here. I forgot, we have free healthcare, a lot of clean water and no guns.
Daniel Beauchamp what about college? Is it free? Do you have to be a canadian citizen to go to college in canada?
Don't move to Canada! Like David Suzuki said, "Canada is full."
@ the rest of Canada is undesirable to live in.

@@wizard9403 Good Muslims whose desire is only to provide for their families a better future are very welcome to migrate to Canada but those with extreme self-righteous religious dogmas PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE..PLEASE DON'T COME!!!!

I am very glad that you enjoy living in Canada and it's great that you are looking at the other side of the coin. Best wishes!
