I've always loved how D just says "So you guys are now called Ouroboros, we're Moebius, we hate each other but we're kinda similar. Got all that? Good" like he's just reading them the wiki or something before trying kick their asses. Great video all around by the way. Really fun to watch, but now I realized how big of an issue AI teammates falling off cliffs is gonna be
I just realized...HE WAS!! Z just told him to take a rock and kill whoever's there. D didn't act like he had seen an Ouroboros form before. "So you've got an Interlink going, eh?" Throw in a pause and it makes more sense... Didn't think I'd learn more lore by clicking THIS video! Thanks!

I like this video a lot, I would love to see this series continue. I'm a huge fan of challenge runs for other games so seeing a challenge run for XB3 is awesome. Only feedback i can come up with is that you'll probably want to switch the difficulty to normal as hard is going to scale the enemies up too much for you to make it through a number of bosses without tailored teams to defeat them. I can't wait to see where this series goes!
Just found this video yesterday and I've watched it twice now, really excited to see when/if P2 comes along. The editing was really clean and enjoyable as was the narration. Hopefully we get a P2 soon Swapping to normal is a fine idea because hard will ruin you with this ruleset long term even if it is a bit easier early on.

Also, as for your thoughts during the end, Normal would probably be a better way to play the game. I think continuing onwards you'll probably get wiped playing on Hard difficulty, and that wouldn't be very fun. At least for normal, I could see you making it quite late game and suffering a tragic defeat which would be better than fizzling out at Herbert, lol.
I quite liked this. Feel free to turn the difficulty down. If it gets to be too easy you can always crank the difficulty back up, but I’d hate to see the series end prematurely by having the difficulty too hard
Really should have called this "intro" or "prologue' or something. I wasted 20 minutes listening to you summarize the plot before realizing this was nowhere near going anywhere
43:39, you also didn’t realize that power ring is the only way for Eunie to charge her talent art. So by removing that, you also took away her healing ring.
Yeah but you have to use Power ring 4 times before you can use her talent art. And i dont think thats gonna happen with AI lol. But it could help with chapter 2.

This game is a masterpiece and i welcome the idea of someone adding a bit more replay value in watching it for me. I like the idea of making failure more consequentially so im fully supportive of these videos, you've got a viewer.
What's so funny about Herbert the Ropl is that it is NOT counted as a Boss (no orange wings on the health bar) but is much harder because of it, because Noah does not receive the damage buff from the Swordfighter skill that boosts damage against bosses (80% at Rank 10). If the only change made to Herbert was making it a Boss it would die much faster.
Personally I don't really count all the deaths in this video. It's sort of like in a Pokemon Nuzlocke where it doesn't start until you get pokeballs. It doesn't start until you get the classes tutorial. If you compare the time scale of a Pokemon game and Xenoblade, pokeballs and the classes tutorial probably happen at the same time.
Probably takes longer. 3 hard difficulty specifically is fairly brutal by the standards of most of the games in the series. It's not to the level of BoC but that's because that's balanced around NG+. It's also unfortunate that your only means of healing in the beginning is with the talent art which just makes the initial chapters among the hardest since you're basically required to grind to beat the one enemy he really struggled with.
At least on hard difficulty, I don't see a future for this run. The combat is completely balanced around revivals on hard mode (there is a reason you can only basically infinitely revive in XC3), so you have three options: -Completely overlevel and make the game unfun -Lose very quickly -Lower difficulty, if that helps. I have only played on hard, so I wouldn't know Obviously the only good option would be lowering difficulty, I guess.
About changing the difficulty, I'd say the best way to handle this would be to keep on playing on hard mode, but at the same time maybe you should save this point in the run on 2 different savefiles, one on hard mode and the other on normal, so that if you die on hard mode you can restart from here on normal
Yeah, I don't count this run as failed until the actual ability to swap classes was given to you. So all of those classes are still legal for their original characters. Except for Taion, who died immediately after unlocking Medic Gunner. So no Gun Taion. Other then the other guns
This seems like a nice challenge. I don't think changing the difficulty to normal is a bad idea, considering all hard mode does is change some numbers around that make fights longer, especially earlier on in the game where you lack options. I hope you don't give this challenge up and I hope this gets picked up by the algorithm!! Definitely earned a sub from me
Hard Mode doesn't only make fights longer though? In addition to giving enemies more HP, they also hit harder, are more resistant to debuffs, combos have a lower duration so locking things down with them is harder, talent arts charge slower, Interlink has a lower duration and probably most signifcantly; Chain attack multipliers are nerfed so it's much harder just to burst everything to death in one chain attack.
Dude you're commentary is HILARIOUS!!! Definitly earned a sub from me lol This video needs soooo many more views! This idea seems absolutely insane, especially on hard mode! Best of luck 😄
40:02 Something I never realized about this cutscene is that the song that plays here is an arrangement the City's theme That's such a cool detail!! This vid is really cool btw. The music syncs with the Herbert fight are great, and something I always appreciate in vids like this. Can't wait for the continuation of this series
This was so gooood. Loved the editing style and the fact you went through everything and didnt try and speed through everything. I would be okay with you going to normal mode and since a nuzlocke doesnt start until you have pokeballs i would be fine with you reviving all your classes at the start of the next video. Great vid, very excited for part 2
This was a real fun video, and I think it's totally fine to lower the difficulty, you are already putting a bit challenge on this so no shame in just making it more fun for yourself. I do look forward to the next vid and hope you do continue on.
wait wait... you just turned XB3 into Persona 3.... where the success of your party solely relies on YOU BEING A JACK OF ALL TRADES MASTER OF EVERYTHING
Honestly, Im very interested in how this will work, like, will Master Arts also be deleted? With what happened the Origin Metal upgrades are all useless. Ooh, when nuzlocked and dead, can you still use their respective Hero?
If I had a nickel for every time there was a UA-cam channel called Paragon of Torna I would have 2 nickles. Which isn't much but will probably be more in the future
I know it's supposed to be a Nuzlocke, but maybe a checkpoint system would be fitting in this case? Xenoblade games are very long so some low number of checkpoints could work. Maybe at important points in the story? Or maybe players choose when to use one? You can have multiple saves in Xenoblade 3 whereas that's impossible in Pokémon games, so you could save at a predetermined checkpoint and reset to it later if you lose everything or just lost too many classes to think the run is viable. Also, Pokémon Nuzlockes only start after you get pokéballs, so you could start the Xenoblade 3 Nuzlocke after you unlock the class system. These changes could keep the difficulty, but add an element of risk/reward to the mix and prevent having to go over tutorial sections again and again.
Mwamba is technically a Hero. Since you can't edit Hero Accessories, it makes sense that you don't remember equipping him with the Feather Band: you couldn't have in the first place. 21:00~22:39 Personally, I would've just used the minus button menu to surrender and continue from there but still consider it a new run. Since it's barely into the first chapter, it'd basically just be skipping the stuff that would've been practically the same anyway.
I'm sure you're much farther on by now, but I would definitely suggest doing this challenge on Normal. The beginning of the game is just too RNG-based on Hard, and lowering it also cuts down on what would be required grinding.
Honestly I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to just mulligan the chapter 1 deaths lol. Doing it deathless is incredibly RNG dependent and honestly, it'd probably be more interesting if you had more classes to work with instead of half the options being dead from the get go. Plus that's definitely preferable to turning it down to normal difficulty, because normal is really easy and makes chain attacks way too strong once you get them.
Dude, treat the classes like pokeballs. Until you get those it doesnt matter if you lose, so once you get the Ouroboros and access to Classes, then the Nuzlocke begins properly I know the Pokeball ruling is so lockers dont lose encounters they may need later, but i think it can be applied here. Not to mention you cannot fully utilize your characters, and have to rely on faulty AI, till you get Mio, Taion and Sena + the ability to control characters and class swap.
I actually found this idea very fun. But I think you should have put in a leniency rule like Pokemon Nuzlocks do to allow the actual run to start once you got access to changing Classes. Since it’s such a huge game, it seems unfair to allow so much to screw you over in the first several hours when you can’t exactly help it. Not to mention actual skill comes into play more when you get more control over your party. Overall, still loved the content. Keep it up!
If this was gonna be called a Nuzlocke you could've done actual Nuzlocke rules and any deaths before class swapping are allowed for the sake of convenience. But still, this is a great vid.
I’ve only watched the first 6 minutes and im incredibly impressed by the quality of the editing, sound quality and script! Its rare to come across a relatively new youtuber with this quality of content! Keep going cause you’re a natural with it! Subscribed and excited for whats to come🎉 (It might also help that xenoblade 3 rose to become one of my top 3 games of all time)😅
I like the video idea but the pacing could really use some work I was very tempted to stop watching the video because I felt like my time was being wasted. Overall I enjoyed but I really feel like you could have sped up the progression and focused on the more interesting stuff
There are a few changes that I would have made in this Nuzlocke 1) just like in a Pokemon Nuzlocke (the Nuzlocke does not start until you receive your Pokeballs) this Nuzlocke shouldn't start until we are allowed to swap classes 2) you can use any hero available even if they die. This is so they are still available for quests and that certain Heroes (Nopon Champion) are not crippled. (It also makes it easier to gain classes) The reason why a Nuzlocke would normally work with Pokemon is because you are in control of said Pokemon. The biggest issue I see doing a Nuzlocke in this game in such a manner is that you are relying on AI Control of 5 characters. I can see you having the same problem as relying on AI in raid dens in Pokemon. (I've had AI throw themselves into the void, per your rules this means character death.) Still, I might try this in the future with a TPK rule instead of character deaths. It sounds like a challenge especially later on where it's easy to overlevel. (Currently supposed to be level 45, currently level 82 from exploration and side quests. I only use bonus XP to keep the levels even which I haven't had to use since chapter 2)
a game like this for the begining are always hard to consider a full reset since the fail state is so easy and the inability to change basicly nothing if reset is why letting the herbert chronicles exist like it does doesnt actually mean anything(the pride of trying it as if it was valid is intresting). the class changing and such later is what makes any of the nuzlocke part even valid. the idea of moving difficulty from hardmode to normal imo is fine considering how brutal the early game is with the lack of actual tools to even do setups. a bunch of the early part of the game balance is vary fine tunned till you get options avilable that is mostly on the fusion arts end
Ok, this is awesome. I love the editing and commentary. I know this is 4 months late, but lemme say what I think about this whole challenge You can shift the difficulty down to normal if it all feels too much to handle. No shame with that. Fun's the importance of this whole thing after all. As others have said, power ring is Eunie's way to charge her talent art, so um... don't remove it again, please. A neat trick I use to use in my own hard mode playthrough was to use the party commands "gather at the leader" to position people in buff and healing circles. Though, know that this tactic will make your party stop attacking and leave everyone open to aoe moves, so use it and disable it accordingly. Idk if you know of this trick, but I hope it helps. Another trick I liked using in hard mode was evasion arts. If timed correctly, you can avoid all damage done by enemy's big art attacks (the attacks that change their name plate for a second) That's all I have to say. Good luck with the rest of the run.
You did great man, this video was really enjoyable to watch and I can't wait to see where this goes. Personally, I would've just made the challenge rules not apply until you can switch classes (like how in a Pokemon nuzlocke the rules don't apply until you get Pokeballs). Honestly, the early-game in Xenoblade is always really tough on Hard just from the lack of options, years ago I tried playing XC2 on Bringer of Chaos and the Megalo Aligo (who happens to also have Cursed Cuisine) kicked my ass really hard.
I think this nuzlocke shouldn't officially start until you get complete freedom over the class feature, meaning that any death before then should be ignored. But that's my opinion
This is such an interesting run i have done lots of different challenge runs but this looks really fun i mean i have done things like no side quests so i can only level up with main story I have also done a challenge run where i wasnt allowed to be hit which is awful dont try that the luck you need is remarkable. But this challenge looks fun and challenging and new so ill have to give it a go. Fantastic video you have gained a new sub
My phone is listening to me. I was just casually reciting the N breakdown speech, as one does, when this masterpiece of a video is reccomended. Thanks UA-cam
I like your commentary and your editing style. But maybe the video should be a little shorter so it's easier to watch and you can make more of them. Nice video👍. Keep it up.
Wow! I’m late to the party! This is such a fascinating idea, I want to try it myself! I liked and subscribed just because of how novel I feel this is. I love XC3 so much, so to see this game turned into a challenge run is just so cool! Overall, great video. Since your goal is to showcase the game’s story and pepper it with the interesting bits of your run, I feel like you are executing well. Additionally, I’m not a professional, so it entertained me while driving, since I remember many of the games enemies and areas fairly well and could visualize everything.
I JUST finished xenoblade 3 and was mindlessly looking for content to watch about. I wanted to find a video where I could tell the game was appreciated more than the average person. And I can tell you have that passion. The ouroboros cutscene and the battle music that you showed love for really showed me that. Amazing amazing amazing video
This was great, I'm looking forward to the second part. I remember that when I started playing the game I also wondered if a nuzlocke based on classes would work. It's really cool to see someone attempting it. I might try it once you show the full rule set because I am not smart enough to come up with one on my own. Also I like the joke at the very end about not being able to count higher than 10, it was very relatable, since I cannot do that either.
This was a pleasant find in my recommended. I always did feel like it was easy to brute force 3’s combat with revives until you Chain Attack, so I might give this a shot when I see the ruleset. I know I’ll definitely be following this series though. If not to see if things will get easier than to hear some story thoughts again. I know I’m probably one of the few people who like them in challenge run videos, but it just does it for me. Based on my experiences, I think switching to Normal would be preferable at this point. At least until Ch 3 because the portion coming up can be harsh even with Chains(Uniques mostly but the story fights can be bad too). But even after that, Hard can get pretty annoying with just one-shoting non-Defenders with AoEs on a dime. I think staying on Normal could be more fair and less luck-based, as well as help the viability of certain classes like Machine Assassin. Speaking of my experiences, I might as well put my knowledge to use. I know the playthrough is past this point now, but I’ve compiled a few things that weren’t used in the video that could make the part of the game covered here easier and more possible, mainly if anyone stumbles onto this comment and wants to try. The Flame Clock in the top corner isn’t just for show. If you raise it enough by killing trash mobs you do get a stat buff. The only way it goes down is when everyone dies. It goes away after the first D fight, but you won’t need it for the second because Interlink. The damage increases on certain enemy types accessories are huge and you can get some good ones in Yzana Plains. The Tool Belt works for the automatons and a Black Mask from Fox’s collectapaedia gives 50% damage on most enemies around, including Herbert. Put it on Lanz for keeping aggro or Noah to finish fights faster. Too bad it doesn’t work for the Agnus fights or D. In general, looking ahead and knowing the upcoming fights for proper accessories can be huge. The damage boost on certain enemy types is a huge increase for the entire game pretty much. Ones like Garnets and their higher tiers let you kill enemies in group fights fast to make them more manageable, while the Warped Crystal and similar start group fights with no boosts but let you get crazy damage boosts later on. These can seriously be make-or-break. Taking certain UM fights for one guaranteed drop of certain accessories can be massive. I know Power Ring being better than Vortex has already been addressed in the video and another comment, but it really can make a difference. It’s like 50% Attack when you’re inside, so it’s pretty nuts. It makes Lanz keep aggro better and Eunie generate Healing Rings, but the main strength is using Overclock Buster on Dazed enemies inside it. Especially with the right accessories, it chunks even hard mode enemies at this stage. Break resistance is at an all-time low at this part, so use it to stop Arts like Cursed Cuisine when you see them. Even against resistant guys like D, it’s worth trying. I’d say it’s worth holding onto your Break Art until you see an enemy Art going off, at least for the lower Break resistant ones. Topple can do the same thing if the enemy is already broken and you’re controlling someone who can. Just wait for them to start using it and Topple on reaction. That’s all I got. Hope it helps someone.
Cant wait to see more😀 but fr... We gotta do something about Herberts spirit lending its power to enraged enemies... Lol, the vid was great! I guess thats what i wanted to say... Cant wait for the next! You just earned a sub! :D

I love how you sync the music so perfectly to the video
I'm sure you're much farther on by now, but I would definitely suggest doing this challenge on Normal. The beginning of the game is just too RNG-based on Hard, and lowering it also cuts down on what would be required grinding.
Herbert is an absolute villain in hard mode
Honestly I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to just mulligan the chapter 1 deaths lol.
Doing it deathless is incredibly RNG dependent and honestly, it'd probably be more interesting if you had more classes to work with instead of half the options being dead from the get go. Plus that's definitely preferable to turning it down to normal difficulty, because normal is really easy and makes chain attacks way too strong once you get them.
Dude, treat the classes like pokeballs. Until you get those it doesnt matter if you lose, so once you get the Ouroboros and access to Classes, then the Nuzlocke begins properly
I know the Pokeball ruling is so lockers dont lose encounters they may need later, but i think it can be applied here.
Subscribed and excited for whats to come🎉
(It might also help that xenoblade 3 rose to become one of my top 3 games of all time)😅
I like the video idea but the pacing could really use some work I was very tempted to stop watching the video because I felt like my time was being wasted. Overall I enjoyed but I really feel like you could have sped up the progression and focused on the more interesting stuff
I'd say you can definitely lower the difficulty, though I assume it's a bit late for this comment. Can't wait for the next one though
There are a few changes that I would have made in this Nuzlocke
1) just like in a Pokemon Nuzlocke (the Nuzlocke does not start until you receive your Pokeballs) this Nuzlocke shouldn't start until we are allowed to swap classes
2) you can use any hero available even if they die. This is so they are still available for quests and that certain Heroes (Nopon Champion) are not crippled. (It also makes it easier to gain classes)
The reason why a Nuzlocke would normally work with Pokemon is because you are in control of said Pokemon. The biggest issue I see doing a Nuzlocke in this game in such a manner is that you are relying on AI Control of 5 characters. I can see you having the same problem as relying on AI in raid dens in Pokemon. (I've had AI throw themselves into the void, per your rules this means character death.)
Still, I might try this in the future with a TPK rule instead of character deaths.
I know this is 4 months late, but lemme say what I think about this whole challenge
You can shift the difficulty down to normal if it all feels too much to handle.
If timed correctly, you can avoid all damage done by enemy's big art attacks (the attacks that change their name plate for a second)
That's all I have to say. Good luck with the rest of the run.
I have a run i plan to do in the future, it's only S class compatibility, no DLC, only Hard.
I'd say lower to normal if you want. Xenoblade battles can go south really quickly even on normal.
Can you give me the full list of rules? I'm considering attempting this myself.
ah yes, Time to spend a million years grinding to lvl 99 in the starting area to make the game less fun
This video is awesome! Love when UA-cam recommended gets it right!
Definitely not how the game was meant to be played. Still a really fun video though!
What about when other party members reviving. Mid way into a fight.
I've thought about doing this before, but never had the time. Excited to see how it went
They should put weight of life on normal Pokemon nuzlock
Only 300 people subscribed to him? Get his numbers up bois 😭
Funniest vid I have seen in ages! Please continue the series...
I really liked the video, I'll be waiting for the next one!
Fine UA-cam i will watch the video you have been haunting me with
My phone is listening to me. I was just casually reciting the N breakdown speech, as one does, when this masterpiece of a video is reccomended. Thanks UA-cam
I recite that to myself more than I would like to admit
Sparkin’ brilliant
You deserve more subs this video was amazing!
I like your commentary and your editing style. But maybe the video should be a little shorter so it's easier to watch and you can make more of them. Nice video👍. Keep it up.
Videos like these have to be long. We like longer videos, besides the fact.
Please keep going and drop the difficulty if needed
love all the xenoblade quotes (specifically the one about zanza being revived 24:48 )
hard mode especially at the start of the game is quite bs - very fun vid btw :D
I would absolutely love to see more of this one day! I love challenge runs and I love Xenoblade even more, so this video was spot on perfect for me!
Thanks! “One day” is a very accurate term…it’s slow progress but this will be finished eventually!
This seems like a fun idea, I think going in normal mode would be good considering what we have seen in this one
I was ROTF laughing after you called Lanz "Mr. Meat Brain"
33:50 gosh that noise still makes me shudder
🥸
🥸
48:06 You *never* used the dash?!? Bruh😅
24:50 you sound so much like alvis here
Herbert, the cursed Gourmand.
I liked the editing and the scripts!
Reku is common variety nopom
Cant wait to see more😀 but fr... We gotta do something about Herberts spirit lending its power to enraged enemies... Lol, the vid was great! I guess thats what i wanted to say... Cant wait for the next! You just earned a sub! :D
In terms of Herbert wait until we get to Moebius H 💀
And thanks for the feedback! For some reason we’re having an algorithm boom so I’m glad to see all the support
Now that I think about it, this entire challenge idea makes so much sense (and for XBC2).
