the way how you edited the music, going from playing the map themes during storyline parts to playing the battle theme during the actual gameplay is so satisfying!
I was initially hesitant to have the music dynamically change because I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to do it without it being jarring, but I think I pulled it off pretty well. Glad you enjoyed it!
30:56 Hazarding a guess, but I think those sages might be a reference to Julius and Ishtar! Since there's no dark magic in Engage, they might've chosen fire as the next best thing for Julius because of his minor Fjalar blood, and Thoron probably represents Mjolnir for Ishtar. They were extremely intimidating in their original game too lol
You are, no exaggeration, the absolute best at framing, editing, and making these challenge runs entertaining. They don't miss, 10/10. Please keep making more I will shower you with likes PLEASE
As someone who played through the Tellius games recently, I can relate when it comes to the bridge maps. They're frustrating, but it's also kinda hilarious trying to move a unit seven spaces for it to only go one, and then doing the same thing the next turn. The comedic timing is superb.
I'm gonna be honest, most of the time I'll continuously sit on the engage meter because I'm afraid I'll become a sitting duck if I use up my 3 turns too soon... And then I forget I even have the emblem until I've nearly finished the map anyway.
It’s actually crazy how high quality your videos are and yet less than 4k subs at the time of writing. The editing, the writing, the delivery of the lines, the general pacing, heck, even the mic quality, are things I would expect to see on a silver play button channel at a minimum. I hope you continue to make these absolute bangers and don’t feel rushed to put out a product that doesn’t meet the standards I’ve seen in this and the 3H bows only video. Any chance for challenge runs in any of the older games, or even in different series? I noticed a Pokemon video on the channel and several sound effects from the game, I’m curious as to how you would spice up those games to make them as hard as these FE challenges
I don’t know if someone posted a comment about it but the beefed up mages in sigurd’s paralogue are a reference to 2 very powerfull characters in chapter 10 around that area. You can deal with them by killing one of them or sacrificing one of your units. Both are extremely powerfull units. I’m not gonna spoil anything else about this since fe4 is my favorite fe game and would recommend anyone playing it Edit: the weapons they use are also relevant.
I always admire when people use creative strategies like you do. Although maybe you just didn't want to spend an hour and a half grinding Micaiah's paralogue. Either way you showcased some great strategies and amusing commentary. Worth a sub!
I keep coming back to this video every time I beat a chapter in FE Engage since I'm playing it blind, but I also just wanna say: 1. Thank you SO MUCH for close captioning your video! I feel like it helps me stay engaged (lmao) with it a lot, since I like reading what I can't hear well. and 2. Your humor and editing is so fucking good, I loved your FE3H video and I hope to see more FE content from you!! :)
Good to hear my efforts adding subtitles wasn’t for nothing! I figured out an efficient system to make the closed captioning so it only took me one whole day, but golly that was grind.
Great video. I did a different challenge where I never went to the Somniel when given the choice. You are forced there three times, but I either immediately left or went to the balcony for reasons. It's a fun way to play with regards to resource management, lack of forging, lack of inherited skills, and lack of bond rings. It's annoying getting rid of the DLC items, but you can first sell all of the DLC items and then buy and sell any of the infinite weapons/items until your gold is back to where it was. Thankfully, you only have to do this once.
I finally finished the game and have been allowing videos about the game to trickle into the timeline, and your challenge videos are so well edited, and funny as hell! Also, I got some good pro-tips for my maddening run
I've been looking forward to your engage video for so long!! You're so entertaining!! Cant' wait to see your channel grow! :)) I'm excited for what you will make next
There is a reference to Genealogy In Sigerds Map. When you cross the bridge and go to (if I remember its an extended ledge) an extended ledge in the map you can get a goddess icon. Just kindda cool
Shame Jean ended up as a benchwarmer. I used his in my casual playthrough, mostly because it's hilarious watching this 10 year old beat the shit out of grown adults. I've been considering doing a run completely without the Emblem rings, but I don't know if it's possible and I've never played Fire Emblem on Maddening before.
Jean is probably the unit that benefits the most from Engage mechanics because of how his personal skill interacts with Tiki's abilities. Did you end up doing a no-rings run after all?
This is Alear: A dragon with TWO types of dragon powers flowing in their body, but never gets a dragon form... I'm still salty about the amount of dragon blue balls, especially since them being a dragon is brought up in 90% of the conversations they are in!
I’m still unsure why some dragons in the game look like typical humanoid dragon forms with the wyvern ears and some don’t. It makes Alear feel even less than a dragon, since they don’t even have any visible features. Maybe their VTuber management didn’t allow that
@@Speckmantelmade I could have forgiven the lack of physical dragon traits, if we at least SAW a real dragon form for Alear... Corrin and all the other royals in Fates also don't have visible dragon traits for the most part, but they play a more active role with their dragon derived herritage, and Corrin gets a full blown dragon form very early on.
@skynet0912 Spoilers: they gave their dragonstone to their sister, and it shatters later in the game, meaning no dragon form for alear. DLC has both Tiki ring transformation and two dragon units, though!
@edwardking9359 It's not the logistics that angers me, but the fact that you are a pureblood dragon, but you NEVER get a dragon form. It makes sense for someone like Roy or Byleth, as they are only part dragon, but I felt so cheated out of a dragon form with Alear...
@@skynet0912 It wouldn't make sense for Alear to have a dragon form, though. They're now half fell and half divine, so what would that even look like? Plus, they become an emblem later anyway
The “Adopted” textbox just killed me. Should have seen that one coming since adopting basically every animal in the game has become a meme in the community. I didn’t though, so it hit me unprepared, almost choked on my tea.
Honestly, if you invest in Jean he's actually really good. And it's not hard to invest in him since he starts as a Staff Unit. Staff bot him to level 10, promote, reclass. The first level or so may be a bit rough, but he can snowball way easier than other units of his type.
Chapter 10 and 11 are so good because you get this feeling of strength and accomplishment only to have it all stripped away and forced to run away from enemies so powerful it’s too hard to fight back in any reasonable way and then chapter 12 is just haha vacation!
A little late but Sohlm was one of my favourite segments of the game, while you do a good job pointing out the storytelling is a bit hammy for trying to subvert expectations, I do find it very refreshing that a good aligned faction is actually represented as being competent for once. 'Yeah we were attacked. We kicked their butts!' Also Seforia just turning to Hortensia and saying 'WELL!? Are you gonna kill me or not?' is such a fantastic scene, especially with the mix of spirit and might that Sohlm was kinda building up to as well. In general the good monarchs are actually pretty dang neat.
Solm gave me my favourite pair of siblings with Panette and Pandreo as well as some other banger characters like Fogado, Merrin and Seforia, who just didn’t take shit from Hortensia whatsoever. What a queen. Literally. Easily best part of the game for me, since I gave up expecting a deep story pretty much at the beginning and just had fun with my character being called Slut and the hilarity that ensued from that.
In the second half of that map, Alear’s engage meter is emptied so the game can teach you about the Emblem Energy tiles. There are also enemy skills like Spirit Strike and Dark Spirit that lowers my units’ engage meters, so even though I didn’t Engage, the engage meter may not always be full.

Wait wait wait how the hell did that Freeze Staff miss Chloe in chapter 10? It's scripted for her first attack to always proc divine pulse, right? Am I going insane?
There was enough EXP to feed to her with the DLC thanks to the Lineage skill and Camilla’s and Soren’s maps, so training wasn’t bad. She was a high Magic Sage, but Citrinne or Pandreo could probably have done the same job nearly or just as well.
