@DJ2226 because A: their target customers will pay the tariff. B: the cost is too high to start a whole new facility in North America due to regulations and taxes here. C: building them in Europe gives them instant access to all of Eurasia, Africa, and the middle east.
Tommy, Ineos has broken through the Chicken Tax barrier 🐔🐓and delivered an overseas pickup to the market. When can we expect the Land Cruiser 79 and Hilux Workmate to show up at the local Toyota dealer? For the record, the T100 was built by Hino who also made the FJ Cruiser. Today they make the Land Cruiser 1958.
Makes sense to have the tire in the bed... If you blow a tire in a tough spot, that's the last place you want it, especially if it's rocky or something is wedged up underneath.
@@Lukewilla I wouldn't know. I don't own one and likely never will. But I was just pointing out that having your spare in the bed like that makes sense. Especially when you're really stuck somewhere in an area where undermount spares are useless/impossible to access.
That space under the rear of the bed is perfect for a serious range extender fuel tank. Which is a good reason to choose the Quartermaster over the small std fuel tank station wagon where significant aux tank room is non existent.
12:30 Ineos is offering a chassis cab version of this, so perhaps a trayback or camper could go on top of the rails and water tank/diesel tank could go below
Where the spare tire should go really depends upon the use case for the truck. A flat rear tire on uneven ground can make an underslung spare tire hard to get to.
There's no ideal solution if you want to maintain full use of the bed, but I'd argue that a rear bumper mounted swing out is the best answer, since mounting on the hood isn't a thing these days.

Ineos is incredibly lucky that the new TLC70 pickup truck with a diesel turbo engine and automatic transmission is not sold in the United States. In this case, they would literally not sell a single car.
@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806 what issues? They just took the good old LC70, improved the design, and threw in the engine and gearbox from the good old Hilux. The combination of a 1GD-FTV engine and a six-speed automatic transmission from AISIN has proven to be incredibly reliable since 2015. I drive a 2021 Fortuner with this engine and transmission combo. The mileage is already more than 60 thousand miles (100,000 km), and all this is mostly off-road, climbing mountains and fording water up to the hood. During this time, literally nothing bad happened to the car, I only changed consumables. The B57 from BMW in the Grenadier is also not bad, but it is a structurally complex engine, and I am not sure that it will also withstand the flooding, for example. And as far as I know, the B58 engine is also installed there, and although it is powerful, it has not proven itself to be the best in terms of reliability.
It is my understanding that European countries refused to allow the importation and sale of chlorinated-a weird murrican process-frozen chicken as it violated their food safety standards. U.S. companies could have processed their frozen chickens to European standards BUT they whinged to the U.S. Congress instead. Big surprise🤣! I remember back in the 1970s we had to upgrade our export freezing works here in New Zealand, to standards that did not-in reality-apply to U.S. meat processors for another thirty years or so.
UHhh. Man I'm sorry TFL guys but that bed is one foot too long. It looks so weird being so long, It needs an even shorter bed! That's going to hurt the rear departure angle for sure
They give us a truck with less of the B.S. but charge higher prices. I'll pass on that $55k truck. We need lower prices, not raised prices for last decade's tech.
The reason why we want a solid axle, steel wheeled truck is because they should be cheap. Not $87k. Problem is that every truck has about $20k worth of government mandated "safety" equipment. That's in quotes because most of it is due to ignoramuses that shouldn't have a license. If you need a TPMS system to tell you you have a flat, turn in your license. If you need a back up camera to keep from running over your own children, turn in your license and your parent card. If you need a blind spot monitor to not hit the guy in the next lane over, turn in your license.
The way a real truck should be, it usually means it has an actual chassis instead of unibody. You have the option of removing the bed and installing a tray or a box or some other solution to fit your needs.
I like it except for the bad ergonomics - i.e. no dashboard instruments in front of the driver - only that half tablet stuck in the middle of the dash - for that reason, and the price, no thanks!
Love it - I was a huge fan of the old Land Rover Defenders. Why can't an American company create something similar? Because they are busy making cheap junk. They could make this for 10-15k and sell for 30-40k, instead make something for 5k and sell for 40-50k - that's capitalism
too expensive for what it is. people are going to look at it and just be inspired to get a gladiator. if they sold it for $20-30k less, then it'd be much more interesting.

Steel IS an alloy. Quite famous for being an alloy. You mean “aluminum” or “aluminum alloy” wheels as the upgrade?
These vehicles just seem like they would be fun to own. Ya know-If you have the money to do so
RIP to everybody who had no idea what the chicken tax is about from the comments, but now understand what’s happening.
Honestly it’s awesome in every way except the rear seat. Total deal breaker for me.
take all my money. This is awesome.
You are looking more and more like your dad every day
If they assembled them here for the market in the US, Canada, and Latin America they could lose the chicken tax.
Not worth the investment for their target market, who is willing to pay the tariff... maybe in a few years if it takes off.
Notice how the bed is separate LITERALLY EVERY EV TRUCK MAKER
The way a real truck should be, it usually means it has an actual chassis instead of unibody.
You have the option of removing the bed and installing a tray or a box or some other solution to fit your needs.
What he said ☝🏼☝🏼
Plus, the separate bed will FLEX with the frame and not rip apart by being isolated.
A classic case of "We'll take it back at what you paid if you talk good about the Quartermaster when it comes out!"
Cars price increases far surpassed real wages. They have made almost every car out of reach.
Ive never needed anything more
Why have there been 15 reviews today after wmbargo dropped and not one person measured the bed or let us know room in between wheelwells?
I like it except for the bad ergonomics - i.e. no dashboard instruments in front of the driver - only that half tablet stuck in the middle of the dash - for that reason, and the price, no thanks!
The Chicken Tax is one of the least reprehensible things about LBJ.
What makes you angriest about LBJ?
WE want that exact vehicle for under $65k. Once manufacturers figure that out maybe they won’t have all the money problems they are having.
Grenadier is a great vehicle but personally I still prefer the Classic Land Rover Defender.
I think the chicken tax has forced manufacturers to set up in the USA. Not possible for a small unit manufacturer such as Ineos.
I would 100% choose the Grenadier. Wouldn’t take a free Cybertruck.
Love it - I was a huge fan of the old Land Rover Defenders. Why can't an American company create something similar? Because they are busy making cheap junk. They could make this for 10-15k and sell for 30-40k, instead make something for 5k and sell for 40-50k - that's capitalism
Can it outran a bull elephant on safari?
Only on a narrow shelf road.
They need to come out with a manual
If these started at $55k and fully optioned at $80k. These would sell a lot better
No chicken tax in Canada. The Trialmaster is 77k USD north of the border...
too expensive for what it is. people are going to look at it and just be inspired to get a gladiator. if they sold it for $20-30k less, then it'd be much more interesting.
Without the chicken tax it would be $20k less.
The only thing cooler than a Cybertruck is one that cost even more than it.
Straight-6 turbo crew cab straight-axle truck? Jeep/Gladiator are you Listening? Hurry up w/ the Hurricane.
Cool as that guy we all know who wears obscure $100 t-shirts.
The chicken tax isnt about actual chickens. Its describing the big three and them being terrified at the thought of having to compete with the rest of the world.
No.
