6 Seater is the best confirmation and the most expensive option. I am 6’2” and I like the fact if I’m sitting in the 3rd row at least one of my legs can stretch out. Also the 2nd row captains are electric adjustable. 7 row is not Ideal.
Thanks for the video. You might already know, the position of the door could be saved for this location, so it will always open all the way in your garage. (adjustable from center console instead of using physical button)
I think it comes down to what you prioritize: storage space or second row comfort. The second row seats in the six seater are more comfy, but I’ve been able to haul a broken 65 inch TV to the recycling center with the seats folded down.
Thanks for watching. The 2nd row can be folded down automatically via the button, but moving the row position from front to back or vice versa can only be done manually through the manual release beneath the seat.
Thank you for watching. Here are a couple of options - Topfit Under Storage Bins (these are the ones we have in our Model X, great for putting random items like kids toys, babywipes): amzn.to/3PJeLpK JOWUA Collapsible Organizers (you can fold these down to fit under the seat and expand them to use them as a shopping bag): amzn.to/3RKcBJ7
I never owned the old model, but I did ride an older 6-seater. The seats feel similar, but the rear screen in the new Model X is probably the biggest change.
It depends. You can have two slim booster seats with high backs next to each other (Diono Radian style), but I don’t think you can fit two boosters with more robust padding. We’ve also fit three boosters (one backless and two with high backs) across the second row.
Thanks for the video - it was helpful to see the second row room with a car seat for reference. Do you mind sharing what protector you have in the trunk? It doesn’t look like maxpider to me.
Thanks for watching. The protector in the trunk was from a former owner of a previous generation Model X and the set also included two mats for the back of the second row (not shown in the video): amzn.to/3WbxUm3
@@TheTeslaTours Thank you so much for the response. I was trying to find those onlinr (maybe Topfit used to make one similar) and couldn’t find a current manufacturer. This is exactly what I was looking for. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
man.. i have a y 7 seats.. i ordered, the x 6 seaters.. it seam if i get the 7 for the x, there is no space really leg room for adult.. Though 6 seater,, 3rd row can get in / out easily and place their leg down the center. very hard to decides, maximum room passengers or comfort. Still a beautiful X.
I agree. The third row in the Model X is tight with the 7 seater, but the access to the third row is better with the 6 seater. The one advantage of the 7 seater Model X is the fully flat seats when folded.
@@TheTeslaTours That was a problem that I found with the 6 seater Model X -- the second row doesn't fold down at all. It's a bit of a bummer though, that for the 7-seater variant, in order to be able to move the second row forward/aft, it is a manual lever rather than powered seats.
Yes, agreed. It would have been nice to have an electromechanical solution instead of a manual lever. I guess it’s one less thing that could break long term, though.
Is it really the case that one has to jump in to the third row? Is it possible to tilt the whole seat in the 2nd row and not only the backpane? Maybe the single seat and not the double?
@@TheTeslaTours Not exactly. I can see that by folding down the back of the seat (either the 40 or the 60 in the second row) you can step "over" it and climb into the third row. I have 5 kids and doing this multiple times a day in ugly weather is a clear no go. So I am curious if there is another mechanism to access the 3rd row, something similar to the 6 seater, where the 2nd row seat slides forward and tilts forward simultaniously.
Oh I see. Yes, it is possible to access the third row without completely folding down the second row, by sliding the second row seat forward and partially folding the seat back. However, this is harder to accomplish with an adult occupant. Kids shouldn’t have a problem.
I’m glad I was able to help! And just to emphasize from the video, you can partially fold the second row seat with an electromechanical release via a button located near the headrest, but the sliding mechanism for the row is completely manual (no powered adjustments like the 6 seater).
I think most people want a 7-seater because they need one because they have a family they must transport regularly that's too large to fit in anything less than a 7-seater, two of whom are bound to be small enough to fit comfortably back there. Basically, that third row is for kids, or in a pinch, the smallest adult or adults in a group of six you need to drive somewhere. Also, don't underestimate the determination and flexibility of the young. When I was in college at Michigan, five us all, all 6' - 6'3", got jealous seeing all the kids leaving for spring break and so decided last minute to drive down to Panama City Beach, Florida. The problem was, all we had was Nate's rusted-out Ford Escort hatchback from the '80s. Though we tried, we physically couldn't fit three of us across its backseat, so we ended up taking 2-hour shifts for 26 hours straight down and 26 hours straight back, along with everywhere we went in Panama City, having one of us curled up and closed into the tiny hatch space behind the backseat with our knees up to our chest and our head forced sideways by the glass so that we were basically staring directly into the ear of whichever of our friends in the backseat whose ear we minded least staring into and smelling the neck and hair of for two hours. By the way, we also had limit how much each of us could take to what'd fit inside each of our backpacks we usually used to carry our books to class and carry them on our laps the whole time, but since the driver and hatcher couldn't do that, obviously, we'd wedge theirs between the two backseat passengers before loading in for the next two-hour shift. The only person not having his knees pressed into something was the driver, who was allowed to have his seat back just far enough his knees wouldn't touch, which meant who got stuck behind him had his knees jammed so hard into the back of the driver's seat the driver could feel them pressing against his back through the seat. Point is: That back seat is not actually as non-functional as it may look. Where there's a will, there's a way, especially since someone 5' 7", the height the guy in this video said he is, fits back there, even without his knees pressed into the back of the seat in front of him but with an inch or two space. Granted, I wouldn't want to go back there, but anyone 20s or younger, no problem. I mean, they may make a bit of a meal out of having to, but they'll figure it out and I'd be all, "Just be glad it's not 26 hours to Florida in the hatch of an '80s Ford Escort." Anyway, the third row isn't why I'd never buy this car. Elon Musk is.
Yes, you can, although there aren’t latch anchors in the third row. We made a video about car seat installation here: Tesla Model X - Quick Car Seat Installation ua-cam.com/video/wXnkX_T6qSw/v-deo.html
If the replacement cost is that much out of warranty, it’s definitely not cheap, but there’s no reason to think the battery will absolutely fail after the warranty period. Recent Teslas and other EVs have very good thermal management of the battery to limit degradation and good reinforcement to protect against physical damage. Nothing lasts forever, but gas powered vehicles have their own long term replacement costs as well. I think that EVs as a whole are more reliable due to less parts compared to a gas powered vehicle.
Because the 6 six seater has nicer, more comfortable seats in the second row, at the cost of functionality (the second row seats cannot be folded down completely).
First thing I wouldn't buy a model X. Too expensive. Why are the bat wings doors only on the back seats???? And I don't need a seven seat vehicle. My model Y five seater is adequate enough. Bye!!!!!
Expensive, but cheaper than before ($79k and now qualifies for the $7,500 tax credit). But if you don’t need 7 seats, then I agree that a Model X isn’t necessary.
