I bought a brand new refreshed 2022 Model S and the build quality was a joke. Big panel gaps..creaking interior panels.. It even made underbody flexing noises at 13,000 miles. Tesla Service would not do anything, calling every issue - within spec. Couldn't stand it and sold for a silly 50K loss. Now onto an X, not much better. If I get one again I would lease one.

FYI, don't slam the frunk lid. Lower down slowly and then use both hands to push it down to latch it. The frunk lid is very light material and if you slam it down, it can bent.

I've been an X owner since 2019 and I can't see myself driving another car. I do a lot of road tripping and it's been great in that regard, especially with the excellent supercharger network. Aside from that the cargo space is also fantastic and has come in handy helping haul large items for me, my parents, and friends. The falcon doors are great for accessibility and make it easy for my Mom to get in the back as she has bad knees. Software updates have just made it better and better. This one's a keeper.
Oh yeah, and forgot to mention: precisely zero maintenance issues since buying it.

    Two things
One: The frunk should not be slammed and instead, gently lowered and with both hands, push down on either side of the logo.
Two: The wall connector charger you have in your house, the wire can be wrapped around it and the charge part itself has a spot it can fit in instead of just hanging there.
Also a tip, not sure if you do, but you can schedule the car to charge at off peak times at home to save money on your electricity bill.
Otherwise, great review! I recently got a Model 3 Performance and love it. Congrats on your Tesla, the new Model X and S are insanely cool. 😄

I had my first ride in an X as a taxi in Jakarta last week. It was very nice ride. While in line for airlines I was talking to German man. I asked him what he though about all those German Tesla being made in Berlin. LOL said he “wasn’t aware” that they were making cars yet. He also added that he was sure that Tesla and other electric was not going to be the only solution to global warming or a zero carbon footprint. I just replied that it doesn’t matter what I believe because I had test driven a 3 and a Y and now I have to have one. To me driving a Tesla is so different from a gas car as it is driving a boat. The thousands of moving and wearing parts in a ice car and it’s transmission now makes no sense to me and a complete waste. Everytime my 10 speed transmission shifts I can just feel the life shortening of the car. Even though after my test I bought 30k of stock, and it’s now worth almost 10k, I still can’t wait to own one.

When leasing, I always recommend asking what the "money factor" is; essentially the interest rate, but it's a long number but you can convert it and compare it easily. Also, the residual value at lease end has a significant impact on your payment....brands and models that plummet in value after they are considered "used" may prove costlier than you realize. Fantastic video Marina, спасибо большое 🙂.

Excellent review!! With the air conditioner, I had a similar problem. We took delivery of our 2020 X and a month later began a cross country roadtrip to Oregon. When we were driving over the continental pass on I-80 the A/C suddenly went out, at first only for a short time, then more frequently after driving for a couple of hours in hot, dry climate. When we reached our destination I made an appointment with the service center in Portland. They kept the car and gave me a loaner of a ‘13 S, which drove well, but caused me to miss the advances they had made between’13 and ‘20. Also, while in Oregon, my screens went black which startled and greatly concerned me, but they rebooted themselves in two-three minutes. I later learned that it is good policy to reboot them yourself periodically, especially after watching one of the theater apps.

I have been a model S owner since 2013. My battery died 3 weeks ago and it will cost $19,000 to replace it with a refurbished battery. My car only has 106,000 miles, which is shocking and materially changes the math on the cost of ownership of a Tesla. Tesla's cost calculator may predict your fuel savings based on the relative cost of electricity versus gasoline, but what it fails to account for is the cost of the battery. $19,000 per 106,000 miles is equal to 18 cents per mile, or $5,00 / gallon gas with 30 MPG. And that's just for the battery cost. this ignores electricity costs.
Tesla has had my car for 3 weeks now and has not offered a loaner or sought to expedite their service. Lastly, I'll mention that before this repair, seven door handles, two computer screens, two charge ports, 1 seat, 2 seat covers, and one sunroof all needed to be repaired for quality of build issues. These repairs have cost well over 10K. Tesla is a very expensive car to own.

3:57, don't slam the frunk it is aluminum for lightness. You are supposed to drop it to the latch and then press with your hands to lock it in place. Does not take any force to do, but slamming it does not work at all and can bend the hood over time.

Well done with your video. Your humor was pretty funny to me👍🏽.
The video was also the story of my life. I gave up model 7 and miss it dearly and not just because of the extremely high gas prices. I really liked my vehicle but the repairs were Inexcusable and costly. .
I traded a BMW B7 Alpina.for my Tesla just to sell it back to CarMax
I traded my 2016 X to Carmax after just 7 months of owning the X.
I was $6500 in the hole with maintenance.
The trade was an investment because carmax paid more than what I owed due to demand for the vehicle.
Unfortunately, I barely broke even given the money spent trying to keep the car on the road.
My AC broke as well but I only had a 7 day tesla service wait time unlike your car. I had 2 ball joints repaired, weird squeaking noises from the front wheel, given a estimate to replace the front axle, front suspension malfunction , wheel molding or trim issue around the tires blew off while driving. I get it replace and three weeks later, the car wash ripped the other trim from the opposite site side. I couldn’t catch a break, I had 1 cracked ‘20 rim, ($900 to replace) a broken rear seat belt buckle, signal arm controller went bad and the center glass roof just blew off on the highway. I get home, look outside my upstairs window, look down at my X and notice the center glass roof is gone.
    All in 7 months
The quality was so frustrating with the vehicle and disappointing because I really liked my X but simply couldn’t rationalize the repairs not covered by Tesla.
BTW. I bought a used X from non Tesla dealer; PLEASE do not ever ever buy a Tesla from anybody but Tesla. You’ll likely have a few issues here and there but you’ll have some coverage with warranty repairs.

Very honest and helpful review. Nice job! I'm a mechanical engineer and us engineers don't like to jump on new technologies until they're proven solid. We are trained to tune out the noise and the fad, and focus on the build quality and the technical specs of a car for ourselves. Even if these look good, the price tag MUST make sense. Based on my analysis, Teslas fail royally on all fronts! It is for these reasons that people like me gravitate to brands like Lexus, Acura, and BMW. They know how to build reliable production luxury cars. Tesla has a long way to go to get there.

If I were looking at a electric car it would only be a Tesla. Why? I worked in manufacturing for 50 years, both on the floor in assembly, and 40 years as an Degreed Engineer in Automotive Industry. There is a huge learning curve in the beginning the design and manfacturing of a car, especially a new type like an electric car. Tesla has been through that learning curve for many years. Many of their initial design and manufactuing problems have been solved and they continue to learn. Now take GM, Ford, and Chrysler, Riven and etc. and the first owners are going to experience many quality, and functional problems in the first several years. I rather go with a proven car when they cost $ 50,000 - $ 120,000 to buy. Even if you have to wait, it is better waiting for a quality Tesla, instead of getting a car with problems from first time production.

Everyone's experience is different. I and many others I know with Model Ss and Xs have enjoyed a basically problem free ownership. I have a 2018 Model X 75D with 222k miles! That's Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla territory. I still haven't changed my brake pads! What little problems I have only started maybe last year, but I think it's long overdue. 6 months ago my A/C wasn't getting cold...it was just out of freon...I mean it's been 5 years of constant use. At 190k the bushings on the front driver side suspension had to be replaced due to the squeaking noise it was making. Other than those things....nothing. I have the 22in wheels, the tires it came with which are Pirrelli Scorpions, lasted for 70k before it needed replacing. Even the Falcon doors have never had any issues. I would recommend Tesla to anyone in the market for an EV. It's the best value out there.

Since my recent retirement, I have been considering getting an electric vehicle and your review is exactly what I needed to hear. If it weren't for innovators like Elon Musk, many of the conveniences that we take for granted today would have never happened. Frankly, I believe he is on the right track. That said, I own a conventional internal combustion sports car that is a couple of decades old. Like the Tesla, it has just about every bell & whistle that was was technologically available at the time. It has 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering, pushbutton suspension stiffening, turbo charging, and a multitude of other innovations that were a novelty at the time of its construction. Along with the state-of-the-art technology came state-of-the-art headaches. In hindsight, I should have opted for reliability over gadgets. While I feel that reliability will come to the innovations found at Tesla, as well as other, electric automobiles it may take longer than I'm willing to wait. Now that I'm retired I'm looking for reliability. I'm not willing to chance the possibility of going without A/C on 80 degree days, nor being stranded roadside in my innovative and expensive test platform. In closing, I greatly appreciate your review.

Hi, very comprehensive review! More like days in the life of a Tesla owner vs day in the life. The video review started off with enough praise to which I would consider buying a Tesla then brought me down to the issues with ownership and for me, it was a wash. My current petrol based van runs without issues, is paid for, and rarely go for long distances requiring few trips to the pump. Oh yeah the gasoline station is less than a quarter mile away and there are many others that are less than a few miles away. Wait in line for the pump? Only had to wait once for one car and that was less than 5 minutes -not a hour like most charging stations. So in conclusion I am happy with my 2013 Mazda and don't have any inclinations to change! Although nice to get your husband's views, It was difficult to understand your husband though so I fast forwarded through his talk. Other than that your video was very inciteful. Thanks for sharing.

The Porsche Cayenne story got me thinking that the better choice isn't to buy new or lease - it's to buy a 4 year old car, at least in the Cayenne category. That's actually what I did when buying a plug-in hybrid several years ago, and it's still running great. I spent so little on it (and paid in cash) that my cost per mile must be quite low, and I can sell it any time without worrying about losing much vs. my purchase price.

      Hi the "Nurse Next Door":
Gasoline Prices and Electric Powers/ Electricity going up and down on the same scale.
When Crude Oil/ Natural Gas going up so is Electricity Price. (If you live in California, the State relies 71% on Fossils Fuels to generate Electricity. Solar powers in sunshine state can be down like this Winter. There are not enough sunny days and Snow covered Solar Panels/Faces Electricity generated by Solar or Wind might not be the same ─ while as Natural Gas will produce a steady Input/Output of Electricity.
Currently, there are only 2% BEV like Teslas etc. on the Roads and Manufactured versus Gasolines and Hybrid, in 2016, there had been 70 Million or more of Vehicles (ICE - Internal Combustion Engines) using Gasoline/Diesel or Hybrid Manufactured. The Mines that currently produce Lithium, Cobalt, Magnesium and Palladium ─ for BEV's ─ with percentage of 3% of all Vehicles (these mines, mostly controlled by Chinese) are at their best of 90% capacity Productions; assumed an increase of BEV productions to just 20-25% of current Vehicles (there have been only about 1.5 to 2 million BEV Manufactured last year 2022, or about 3% of all Vehicles Made in 2022 ) ─ what would be the costs for Batteries (As we would need 10-time the supplies of Lithium Mining and Cobalt) … etc.? Demands vs Supplies ─ remember, when China and India were still in under-developed Nations; 1990's Crude Oils were under $15 Greenback a Barrel. (What is Crude Oil now? $70-85 per barrel range).
Look at the Prices of Crude Oils now vs then 1990's. So, we do not know how the Mathematical Equations of Pricing's and Supplies would be Extrapolated? The Assumptions that Technology will advance and the cost will go down; it has not been true, Data/Statistics shown, Gasolines and Crude Oils had not come down, Explorations and Midstream, Downstream have advanced but prices have been more than 4x.
We should rely on how much we can reduce CO2 emissions. by driving less and drive a smaller vehicle if the need for a larger vehicle is not a "must"; BEV are not the Solutions; a CyberTruck would pollute more than a Honda ICE Civic and cost a lot more. We should be honest to ourselves ─ and know to identify between "What we really need vs What we want" ... If you want to buy a Tesla, and can afford then buy one; but if you needed a economical vehicle then buy a top of the line Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.
      Cheers.
      Addendum:
{ Factored in China and India Demands ─ which is only approximately double the units of Cars/Trucks supplied to USA and Canada (numbers of Vehicles (Cars/Trucks/SUV's with 4 or more wheels; not counting Motorbikes or Scooters alike) ─ sold to China and India about the same as USA and Canada respectively [during decade 2010-2020]
      * (note: China is 4x the US Populations; and India is 40x Canada Population.) }

As a financial person, it NEVER made sense for me to own a Tesla. It's NOT a luxury car, its a heavy car, not a nimble car. It's FAST, yes... and to fill up today is cheaper than gas. But that will change once more electricity demanded and the price will go up. A Tesla costs approx $600/year in electricity whereas an SUV would cost $3000 in a conventional gas car. OK, so a Tesla owner saves $2400 a year. But ask yourself how much more does a Tesla car cost than a regular car? Even at $2400/year savings over 10 years is 24,000. I can tell you a Tesla cost hekka more than $24,000 than a regular car. Not good financial sense. Plus, do you realize how expensive it is every time you bring your car in to ONLY TESLA? No mechanic has the diagnostic tools to service your car than Tesla. And yes, statistically about 70-80% of Tesla drivers LEASE their Tesla. A Lease is nothing more than a long term rental. At the end of the day, you own NOTHING! PURE FINANCIAL FOOLISHNESS! But if your emotions cause you to rationalize your purchase, then go ahead and get a Tesla - don't blame me when you complain about not being able to buy a house or retire.

My Toyota Sienna is 2007, never had a problem with air conditioning in fact it's super cold. I have117,000 miles. I guess I prefer gas models but would consider a hydrogen car when it's perfected. But you have a great way of letting everyone know about it.

My 2005 Sienna has 323K and its AC is still ice cold. Never have issues with AC, transmission or engine except periodic maintenance.

One more comment to add to my previous one. I have had my tesla S since 2013, so I am on the very, very early side of their production. If what I'm experiencing is about to happen to many more tesla owners as we get into the heart of their growth, there will be hell to pay. Minimally anger from customers and potentially class action suits to follow.

I bought a Mazda CX-5 and I've loved it. Going on 2 years and no issues. It has power, great on gas, lane assist, heated seats, collision avoidance, huge LCD screen and system that integrates seamlessly with your iPhone, sport mode which feels like a professional racer has taken over with a stick shift :), and AWD for those situations where you need traction. The most important thing is the place I bought it at with a warranty. If something goes wrong, I walk into a building with smiling people who say "Chris we will get this taken care of today if possible, tomorrow by the latest...and would you like a ride home or need a car to drive until it's ready?" Don't get me wrong, I love innovation and I think what Tesla is doing is awesome. I just think as this video points out, you have to be ok with the difference. For the ones who still want a near perfect experience and pay way less? Probably a little soon for a Tesla. Thank you for a great honest review video!

Omg this is a lovely review of the car! You were so honest and open minded about your opinions. So simple. And the way the video was made, totally loved it. Hope you get your car back in normal condition. And Tesla and every car makers need to prioritise quality and customers safety over market share and profit.

The Model X that is new is $81,630 then a credit of $7,500 plus free ultra red color. I am considering it.

The issue with the quality though is very dependant on which factory the car came from, the issues are almost exclusively from the fremont factory that was inherited from gm, not purpose built. The quality has improved vastly in a very short time period

Thank you for your honest review. Your husband mentioned Telsa has good service, but waiting 18 days (before your car fully broke), is not good service. The reason you can get a Mercedes, Lexus, Cadillac, or ? repaired quickly is that there are many independent repair facilities, which reduces the load from the dealership for service. Until Tesla opens the ability for independent repair, timely service will only get worse as more cars are sold. Aside from this, since this is all internal, no-one will ever know the extent of problems that occur, since it is not available to the public, like you would see in mechanics Alldata, or OBDII diagnostics databases.
Sub standard quality (for the price), reliability and no independent service are the biggest reasons I can't justify a Tesla. Maybe an EQS Mercedes would be a better choice?

Thanks for the funny review… my Model X was 12 times in service, 3 times drive shaft replaced, 2 times black screens, etc … since 2019 / 30k miles 😂😂😂… So quality is really not to be proud of… I like your husband‘s summary. Its true that it is a technology oriented object and if you like these gadgets, Tesla is your car… You may want to highlight next time other super practical gadgets like automatic garage door opening, door lifting height adjustment and air suspension regulation based on GPS, endless driver profiles, spotify and karaoke which my kids (around 9-10) love when taking their friends with us, dash cam, ….
You are the first i see mentioning the „Close All“ button 😂😂😂 I love it too✌️
My main concern is the drive shaft design issue… out of the 30 kmiles, the car was vibrating during 25k miles… and there is no final solution in sight according to Tesla service centre…. For me this is a clear NO GO. I will not buy a Tesla again if I have to replace the drive shaft once a year…

I took off my last post because sold my buick lacrosse hybrid which had a range of 400 mikes. After looking at the EV and seeing that they have not been improved, i brought the Jaguar XJl which i fully fuel up (once a month) and takes me 3 to 5 minutes not 20 minutes or 20 hours. My range is now 570 miles which supersedes any EV built by Tesla and at 41 thousand dollars, it's paid off.

Most entertaining and informative review I have seen, your adventures were highly instructive. I still don't have a Tesla, happy as a lark with my classic high-mileage Mercedes S500, on the waiting list (about a third into probably 150,000 deposits) for the Cybertruck, a virtual Teslarati so far, but completely happy with everything Elon as an ex-Californian and hi-tech investor.

When you were at the Tesla dealership with your air conditioning problem, how much do you want to bet the rep came out personally to check on the issue because they were notified that you had a camera crew and was recording the experience? If they didn’t see your camera filming, you would have had to stick with the app and wait like everyone else.

This a super review! Thank you for giving an honest review. Real use and details about a tesla and not an over excited technology lover that oversees the " small" details. I do love technology but there are too many things that make it less well built and more expensive in the long run. Plus 70k for a used one!!!!???

Great review. I own Model Y and everything works just perfectly. Never had any issues. Very happy with the purchase. I also have FSD which hopefully will get better overtime and can drive the car itself. Technology and Safety are Tesla’s main goals.

.... My God, I've noticed many times that the outside of Tesla's have the most horrible fit and finish where doors and trunk linings don't line up properly but I didn't realize that that was extended into the inside of the car... Maybe it's what happens when you put innovation ahead of quality.
