Embarking on the drive north from Canmore to Abraham Lake through Banff is a captivating expedition through the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Canadian Rockies. Departing Canmore, the journey unfolds with the towering majesty of Banff National Park as a backdrop. As you traverse through the iconic Banff townsite, the pristine Bow River accompanies the road, its turquoise waters mirroring the surrounding peaks. Continuing north, the route ventures towards the renowned Crowfoot Glacier, a spectacular ice formation that commands attention against the backdrop of rugged mountains.
Further along, the journey introduces travelers to the ethereal beauty of Peyto Lake. The vibrant turquoise hue of the lake, nestled amidst the towering peaks and pine-clad slopes, is a visual spectacle that leaves an indelible mark. Moving through the Icefields Parkway, the colossal Columbia Icefield captivates with its massive glaciers, including the famed Athabasca Glacier. Each twist and turn along the road reveals iconic landmarks like Bow Lake and the enchanting Mistaya Canyon, where turquoise waters carve through ancient rock formations.
Approaching Abraham Lake, the scenery transitions into a vast expanse of dense forests and crystalline waters reflecting the grandeur of the Rockies. This drive is a symphony of natural wonders, an immersive exploration of Banff's iconic attractions, making it a journey etched in the memory of those fortunate enough to experience its splendor.

Photography is beautiful, as a person who grew up in Kelowna BC we spent most of our summer camping trips in the 60's and 70's in this area. Sad how the glaciers have disappeared, but still the most beautiful place on the planet. I am cycling the Icefield parkway next summer with my sons, I will be keeping a night at Abraham Lake on our schedule.

The glaciers are dissapearing for sure. That camp site I stayed at is only 100 meters from the road too which makes it easier on the bike. Further up the road on right side if you are going towards saskatchewan river crossing there is a paid parks camp site stay away from that one, paid and doesn't have the views.

I will remember that … creeks are one place where you can easily spook grizzly bears and they can eat you.
Life lessons with David😅 thank you! This channel is much more entertaining than politics, although coaching Sophie how to take a poop in the woods was pretty spot on!😂
