Will came on all the way from Australia with 2,700 hours flying time; Buffalo demotes him to being a rampie (with no apparent chance of advancement to fly in sight). I think Will had a complete right to make an ultimatum like that. Buffalo intransigence all over again; they can be really mean to new employees. Sorry, Will, just go back to Vanuatu and really enjoy the tropics and flying in them. Buffalo just ain't for normal people at all; you have to be part crazy to work there.

Yeah I don’t blame him for leaving he was already light years ahead of the normal rampies. For the normal rampies I completely understand why they make them bust their butts for a while it costs Buffalo a lot of money to train them and it’s not like a regular airline where you just fly you gotta do everything a regular airline would do plus loading and unloading, all the extra work that piston planes require, de-ice the plane so if you can’t handle being a rampie for a year you won’t handle flying for any amount of time at Buffalo so it would be a massive waste of money for buffalo to spend training. However they should hire some regular people to work at hay river not put pilots there it’s obviously a huge morale issue. Also have more structure for the rampies as far as getting to fly and when they fly and aren’t ready tell them they need x amount of time on the simulator and learn the systems better and whatever till the next flight so they aren’t just wondering when they might fly next give them goals to meet.

They all know what they are signing up for
It even says it in there website that you have to work the ramp and slowly work your way up before you will be allowed to fly
Because there are no simulators for any of their airplanes
So you could even have over 10'000 hours of flight time
And still have never been anywhere near an airplane like the ones that they are using

Why would a pilot with 3,000 hours want to work as a manual laborer? The Buffalo system does not make any sense at all.

The lad makes his own choices and in the end he made a stupid decision. He has no one to blame but himself.

The company has a cult operating system that is led by Joe as the leader.

@@inhale.exhale.2527 Yes, and only a tiny percentage of any population joins cults. Others see it for what it is.

Obviously Will never watched any of these shows, because who in their right mind would go "lets work for Buffalo" unless it is their only choice.

The sign of a bad instructor: the guy who constantly takes control, instead of properly pre-briefing a new student on expectations, sequence of events, procedures etc.

I can't say I don't blame him for making an altumatem But buffalo is way different than any other company you got to work your way up to getting in the pilot seat.

The thing here is, flying the old plays is just a passion project for him and he has multiple job offer. I would be out of there in a second if I traveled all that what and they just wanted me to be a UPS driver when I could head home a be a pilot.

The Australian should have known that an ultimatum wouldn't work on Joe or anyone else in the company. He may have 2700 hours flying time but he has effectively zero hours on the aircraft that Buffalo flies and will need many hours of training to reach an acceptable standard of operation on even one of the aircraft types. Buffalo is not an ordinary airline. If you want to fly the old warbirds, you have to demonstrate your commitment to the company first by doing all the unpleasant jobs they give you for a number of months. He shouldn't have expected any special treatment or a fast track to the pilot's seat. Despite his experience, he is not an asset to the company with that kind of attitude.
