  • Today we are going to go in-depth on the story of why the Dodge Demons were created, and also the engineering and some decisions as to why the engine turned out how it did and why some of the parts were used. The first part of the video looks at the idea behind the car, the goals of the SRT team, creating the name and logo, behind-the-scenes development info from brainstorming with a Challenger ADR in 2015 to the production version in 2018.
    The second half of the video focuses on the development and engineering of the engine, where I’ll go through the major upgrades and components that the engineers wanted to include to improve the Demon and set it apart from a Hellcat. That will include the fuel, supercharger, air intake, heat soak, weight, driveline, launching, suspension, and transmission.

    Since they announced the 170, I’m stuck holding onto my Demon which was number 4 off the line for another 20-40 years. I’m fine with that.

    Nice video content Marspeed.😊👍 In your chrysler 300 0-60 video, the hellcat swap 300's don't count in 0-60 video because those vehicles weren't made from the factory, there were aftermarket created.

    The 6.2 in the scat pack sucks. 485hp out of a motor that size is a big let down. I have a turbo 2L 4 Cylinder that makes 380. I could only imagine if i had 4.2 extra liter displacement.

      Man I’m not sure you know what your talking about. It’s 6.4 naturally aspirated no boost there are categories for measuring you can’t take a boosted engine and measure it against an na motor 🤣. Then can I add nitrous to the scat and race you that’s fair power adder for power adder. and your issue isn’t with the motor because it held the na record stock for the big 3 for many years making respectable power. Your problem is with the weight of the car. And the block in the 6.4 is iron very strong 18 plus model can make 1700 built just like the hellcat. Build it and it will make really good power if on boost and even na. Not 380hp with forced induction 🤣. You realize that’s the only reason it even makes 380hp is boost right and because it’s in a roller skate makes it feel fast. But na your motor probably makes 200 hp and 120 torque. Tq is part of the equation for hp. And I’m pretty sure a stock scat pack can take you with a tire. Don’t even talk shit because I have a hellcat 🤣. Na meaning-naturally aspirated which means it’s reliant only on the atmospheric pressure and the cylinder to suck in air which is why displacement is key for na motors if you didn’t know what that meant.

    • @matthowell8985
      @matthowell8985 7 місяців тому

      @joshreynolds729 I understand What naturally aspirate it is. Just as an example, the hellcat is making somewhere between 700 and 750 these days and it's forced induction. If you look at my hp per liter is 187.5. So to match that hp per liter the hellcats supercharged 6.2 would need to put out 1167 it doesn't though. You see what I'm saying. I know you don't love those numbers but it doesn't make them wrong.

    • @joshreynolds729
      @joshreynolds729 7 місяців тому +1

      @@matthowell8985 hp per liter argument is pointless as reliability becomes the issue while being capped on power. And it’s not just simple math either the higher you go in hp the more of a loss you gain through parasitic loss. It’s like this for all cars. Another factor you missed is tq something small motors lack at and so do 4 valve motors leaving 2 valve motors which is why the quickest cars in the world run big hemi v8 blown top fuel motors. It’s run what you brought and last I checked 485 hp and 475ft lbs at a lower rpm than a smaller engine would stock na is pretty good. The capability is still there to make over the number you want. But who is going to sell you a factory 1100 hp car for 60k common man.
