They attribute a 50% decrease in these fatalities to this ad campaign? Forgive me for being cynical here but, I don't know anyone that saw that ad and felt like they should stop speeding.
I certainly don't plan to stop speeding. I break the speed limit to get places faster, so show me that I won't get places faster. the real most likely reason for a 50% decrease in fatalities was because they didn't actually improve safety and they just put more people in cars, letting auto makers do the work for them. if they gave a rat's ass about safety they would've started redesigning their roads to passively enforce speed and remove conflict at high speeds

Speeding and showing off with a burnout does not mean you have a small penis, or low self esteem. What it means is you are just young and wild regardless. There's an old quote that supports this: "you can't be old and wise if you were never young and crazy".

That's nothing more than bullying on an epic scale. Maybe find some actual arguments and then come back.
Dude, one of the guys is driving a laser. There is a variation rather than just cars with bodykits. Get a life and face the facts that these ads are often made from statistics. If you are a safe driver but feel targeted under the circumstances of age profiling then join the club. I feel the same. But that does not exclude the fact that others are giving us a bad name. This ad is more than valid to depict the kind of people that are most dangerous on our roads.

Sure, you're all patronized by the RTA but it's a sick sad fact that over half of the male as depicted in the ad have a need to compensate for your egos to drive dangerously. its funny when speeding only accounts for around 5% of the Australian road toll...the speed kills is just a revenue raiser...reason why speed limits are lower than whats recommended so ppl are more likely to speed = more fines and more money

first of all.. ive never seen a burnout kill anyone? another odd point to make in the add is no one was actually speeding? most accidents are caused by inattention not speed, road safety stats are skewed no matter which way you look at it. fixed speed camera's on danger areas should be more widely used and not covert actions taken by police officers. if people haven't noticed australians as a whole are becoming more and more the bubble wrap country

The fact is that the highest number of road deaths are 18-24..and a great deal of them are from speeding. At that age you think you are immortal...and you aren't. No one is saying you shouldn't drive..we'd also like to see you grow up instead of being wrapped round a telephone pole at 120 kph. And if a P Plater does burnouts then maybe its time he got a bicycle..he sure as hell isn't handling a car responsibly.

For all they know, each and every young male driver could be and all they think about is being harassed by police every time they use the roads to travel. Issues like this would effect the concentration needed to drive a vehicle and put more lives at risk...defeating the purpose of harassing the youth that is meant to be protected!
