Sofo ae I remember I started with part of a broom handle with a hole drilled through and a rope with a weight on, used to hold it out and rotate that weight up and down, dam that used to burn my forearms.😁
this is literally why i watch athlean-X, you give great variance of exercises i can use. While i keep my core exercises mostly the same, i use your vids to change up the last half of my workouts every few weeks
i am a 52 year old male and enjoy exercise, but recently have become board and as a result i have started to develop injuries and strains, Athlean x has help me refocus and prevent injury and strain. I now concentrate on method rather than reps and weight. thank you
Jeff, I have worked through Athlean Xero several times back to back in the last half year and experienced an incredible body transformation, thank you! However, I'm getting bored with repeating the same 6 weeks over and over again. I am really hoping you'll bring out Xero 2.0 at some point soon because a gym membership or home gym is simply not an option with how frequently I travel. Thanks again - you've changed my life with your Athlean Xero and this UA-cam channel!
I like how Jeff and Jesse are changing each other for the better,Jesse's bringing out the more light hearted Jeff that has fun is some videos now and Jeff is trainning Jesse and he is now getting bigger and more confidence in himself.
Jeff, I love your videos and I’ve started using a ton of your material in my own workouts. Especially after watching this, and knowing that you’re right (which a lot of us know we need to change, we just don’t want to), I will be building new workouts off many of your videos. Thanks again for the effort you put into these and keep it up man.
I remember when I was a kid we would be outside "p;aying" all the time. When I say kid I mean all the way up to 18. We had our "seasons" too. I grew up in Brooklyn and summer timewas Stick Ball, Punch Ball, Slap Ball, Softball in the parks season. At night time we sould play other games like Man Hunt (variation of Hide and Seek played in teams) where climing fences, trees, or garages was a norm. We would Jump Rope with the girls, bicycle ride 15-30 miles, staart Footbll Practice in August, Play basketball in the parks, play Two Hand Touch in the streets durign the winter, and so on. TALK ABOUT FOUNDATION/CORE TRAINING! But as we get older we do not play anyomer! I am glad I discovered your channel and you are now motivating me to change myentire work out routine for the better. I still like heavy weights but foundation and core training takes up most of my work out! Thaks!
Jeff could you please do a video on grip strength? Whenever I do exercises like the deadlift or the shrug, I am stuck with using lighter weight then I'm capable of doing because my grip will eventually give out. I know you probably have many videos to cover in the near future, but I believe this is a very under addressed problem that effects many of us who want to lift heavy.
Kyle Condon I believe he's done a video on that. I'm not sure what the title was but I remember one of the workouts for grip strength was just hanging on the bar as long as you can. good luck finding it
Save the straps for when you are going for your 1RM or 2RM. Using straps is an artificial means of helping you lift a certain weight - it is not the same as actively trying to strengthen your grip. You could try using a switch grip with one hand over the bar, and one under - the one caveat if you're going to do this though: it is important to change the under/over hand regularly as there is a bit of rotational torque going on which could cause problems if you favour one particular side. Another piece of advice is to incorporate rack pulls into your routine - this is like doing the top half of a deadlift, but because you go a lot heavier there is more strength gains to be had. This may sound counter-intuitive if you are having grip problems, but try them and see how you go. Failing that, farmers walks etc. I wouldn't waste my time with isolation wrist curl exercises - strength is largely a function of the nervous system, and your CNS will laugh at 'pump' exercises like that. Otherwise suck it up, and just carry on with what you are doing - the strength will come.
Love the channel Jeff, probably the best videos out there especially for someone over 40. Having lifted for years I recently changed my whole approach with the goal of "lift heavy but without pain" So I appreciate your detailed approach to form and anatomy to explain why certain pains occur and how to avoid them. I have one question and maybe it's covered in a video...I tend to lift every other day. Was wondering what you recommend the day following a heavy lift session, I normally do cardio and core but I'm asking in regards to soreness. For example, yesterday did legs and shoulders. Cardio will blow today because my legs are dead. Just curious what you recommend to treat that soreness so I can still have a great cardio workout following a killer lifting session. Thanks and keep it up!
Hey Jeff I just want so say thank you for the great content u create for us :) My training has gone from 1 to 10 because of your chanel keep up the good work brother 💪#GOAT
man jeff makes so much sense. i was struggling with a plateau over the last week i changed up my workouts and now im back to losing weight again! thanks jeff your information is helping me lose a ton of weight i havent felt this good ever!
I had them too. Would wake up the night before if it was leg day in the mornings. I then decided to squat 4 times a week. It's been 4 months, major gains in my legs, and squats now have become my favorite exercise. I don't feel like I worked out if I don't squat.
Same, that's most people, its sort of a manly man thing, like knowing how to work on your car own or something.. Everybody knows squats are the fucking hardest and most painful excercise. Never skip leg day. the sad thing is though I feel like Jeff is right about your body adapting to the exercise thus minimizing gains.. I used to hate squat but now I'm starting to like it a good bit, I really don't want to switch to deadlifts cuz those hurt like fuck too lol.
Jeff please can you do video about how to do all those basic exercises (dead lifts, squats..), if your leg length is not the same (femur)? As our body adapts to all.. so i am sure everything can be properly done if we find the right form? PLEASE PLEASE, I ve asked this question even before, but i am sure you havent seen it.. way to many comments to read. still hoping.. and you are the best! would like you to be my personal trainer (i am on recovery, long time, long story, accident, 11 surgeries etc..). Never miss any of your videos, you are one in a million. Thank you in advance!!!
Been sharing your name Jeff, along with your channel name every time somebody asks me about some kind of tip at the gym. Truly the best channel and programs around. I'm currently at the very end of the first month of NXT and I'm so beyond satisfied with this mentality regarding structure of workouts, intensity and everything about what you dish out in your videos and stand by. Thanks for doing what you do my man!
Jeff, please please please do a video on reversing functional (muscle imbalance) scoliosis. I really want to see you explain the science behind it and how to combat it. Thanks a bunch Jeff. Please thumbs up so he sees this!
I just got into working out and it literally took less than 3 weeks for me to hate my gym. I still go cuz i cant really afford to switch rn but it's kinda limiting
A cool new intro would be popping up from below the camera view. Just jump up and scream. That will get people excited and ready to work out. Jesse, I know you are reading this. Bring it up to Jeff.
Hey Jeff or Athlean X viewers and subscribers. Can you help out a 5 feet 8 180 pounds overweight 17 year old male, who recently joined a basketball team and trains 3 times a week. My goal is to first lose some weight. I'm trying to go all the way down to 152 lbs. And that while I'm losing weight I'll also train my core. Do you have any tips in terms of nutrition. Because nutrition is my biggest struggle I don't know what to eat in the morning and how much I should eat. Like do i have to check everyday how many kcal I must take in or is it not necessary. I'm really bad at knowing how much I should eat. It usually ends up with me eating to much at dinner. I also want to mention that I'm not in a hurry (I could wait another 4-5 months to lose all that weight). Ps: Sorry for this long comment, but I'm trying to lose weight for like 5 months and I only lost like 13-14 pounds. In the beginning it was easy to lose these pounds but now I'm kind of stuck. (Could you guys please help me with upvoting this comment this so that Jeff can see it.!!!)
Jeff some time ago you did a video on how your typical day goes and still find time to train. Now that you have twin boys, do you think you can another updated video of how you manage being a dad, husband, business owner, traveling, etc.. and still find time to train. Thank man!
Vince Warren people complain about planet fitness for the lunk alarm and no free weight bench but other then that better gym then any "regular" gym. If you actually know how to properly lift grunting loudly and screaming doesnt help anything except your ego breathing correctly is what matters and if you have to drop the weight then you shouldn't be lifting it
Jason Ayers If you actually push yourself to failure you will make sounds. I don't scream or anything, but I will stun or breathe audibly on my last reps. Especially for heavy compound lifts. No free weight bench alone is a deal breaker and makes it a shit gym. Planet Fitness is for people who don't train, but simply occasionally exercise. I train relatively quiet compared to a lot of people in my gym, but I make too much noise on squats, deadlifts, bench and other heavy exercises so Planet Fitness is out of the question. Plus, they make it pretty clear that thet don't want any "meatheads"(aka men who lift).
Jeff, any chance you can do a critique/discussion of traditional beginner and intermediate barbell programming methodology (Starting Strength, 5/3/1, Texas method, Conjugate style methods, etc. etc.) or even just a general video on your thoughts on strength programming in general (at the beginner and intermediate stage), kind of like a condensed video version of Rippetoe's "Practical Programming..." but from your perspective? I know there's tons of videos and resources on this but I think your perspective would be quite enlightening and I'm sure many, many others watching would benefit!
Yeah that was my issue, trying to learn to do too much when I'm inefficient with the things I'm already doing. I best do something about it. Thanks for that info.
love the relationship between Jeff and Jessie, that's youtube gold! Also, you've made me kick my own ass in the gym, getting out of a rut. great content always!
Logan Smith then you're a dumbass, I'm not saying this guy even knows Jeff. But he has done drugs in his day. Look at his face dude, and I can guarantee you he's had alcohol
Jeff is seriously a mind reader. I asked this question yesterday on yahoo, then today i get a video of jeff answering exactly my question. Unbelievable hahah
thechugdude Just focus on eating healthy rather then eating less. And workout regularly. You will not see a giant loss in weight. But the fat will go away as the muscle takes its place. Its a long process but it is worth it.
Iamlegend835 I agree. I've seen gradual weight loss by simply switching to oatmeal and fruits in the morning. And I eat a ton of that too, 4 servings, which is 600 calories + those of the fruits, but I get tons of fiber and feel amazing everyday. Small changes, when consistent, lead to big results. And yeah, not only does working out make you expend calories, it is so good for you in many other ways, like helping your arteries stay elastic, etc. And more muscle mass equals more calories spent when exerting effort :)

I know you probably have many videos to cover in the near future, but I believe this is a very under addressed problem that effects many of us who want to lift heavy.
Kyle Condon Try a hook grip. Fingers over thumb. Hurts at first but works effectively especially for deadlifts.
Kyle Condon I believe he's done a video on that. I'm not sure what the title was but I remember one of the workouts for grip strength was just hanging on the bar as long as you can. good luck finding it
It's the saw in 6 minutes series forearm episode. Just type in athlean x forearm workout on utube. I have same problem.
Use straps till your grip strength gets stronger. For grip strength, I do sitting forearm curls and clasping exercises with dumbbells and bar.
Otherwise suck it up, and just carry on with what you are doing - the strength will come.

i remember doing coke with jeff back in the early 90's, we had a great time
He has said that he has never done any drugs or even drank alcohol. Clearly you're lying. I don't get your comment.
Logan you must be fun at parties
Kartik Kumar and you must be the life of it lmao
Logan Smith then you're a dumbass, I'm not saying this guy even knows Jeff. But he has done drugs in his day. Look at his face dude, and I can guarantee you he's had alcohol

Do a video on what the most ideal training splits are for a weekly training routine to build strength and mass
Jeff opinion on erythritol !!!??? It's such a popular sugar substitute now.
Toby brennan use stevia. It twice as sweet as sugar, doesn't stay in your body, and doesn't call your body to store fat.
Robert Alegria yup, all natural and way better for you
Jay Z 317 Fuck you
The Flavor drops i use from MyProtein have sucralose in them
so is sucralose bad or you can get away with it with limited consumption?
Richard's Mom why?
Jeff is seriously a mind reader. I asked this question yesterday on yahoo, then today i get a video of jeff answering exactly my question. Unbelievable hahah
Anyway I can get stronger while losing bodyfat?
thechugdude Just focus on eating healthy rather then eating less.
And more muscle mass equals more calories spent when exerting effort :)
thechugdude Eat the same amount but eat healthier and increase your protein intake.
I agree with you Jeff keep ur intro, it's simple and direct.
When is shoulder internal rotation a good thing?
At the top of a dip
Everytime I watch your videos I learn something new ❤️
