It's not just the BBC that covers abuse up, the church is guilty as hell. My daughter was sexually abused for years by her RI teacher at school and we spent months trying to get the school and the church to take action. The police were worse than useless and advised us to "let it drop" as it was only my daughters word against his. It ruined our relationship with our daughter as she felt that we didn't try hard enough to get him punished [ we did] but the system didn't support us. The church still allowed him to take groups of children away on camping trips and we were warned that we would face prosecution for defamation if we continued to speak out. Fast forward 15 years and the police contacted our daughter to ask if she would be a witness in a prosecution against him for several current allegations of child rape . How many children's lives have been ruined by this man in the past 15 yrs because of the protection of this evil man by the very people who should have been protecting our children?
Well said. Abusers of any sort should always be called out publicly and punished severely, Not just sentenced to a couple of months in prison. Thank you for speaking out for those abused who cannot defend themselves!

I’m always curious in these cases. Wouldn’t you consider this a mental illness and if so, should there be a form of rehabilitation available? If not, what’s the way to deal with these kinds of people?
The therapist said to us that there is a cycle of re offending usually because of triggers such as the odd glance... Not sure how you would separate it from other sexual preferences! it's a difficult one my friend xx

It's a right and wrong choice for normal people, most in the majority. Its personally to me too as i had a life long friend just get raided and arrested for the same thing, Ironically his father also got arrested in the early 2000s for downloading dodgy images off of limewire, His father did change after being put on a list for 10 years and has changed his life for the good, So im willing to give my friend 1 last chance, I know i could follow the crowd with pitchforks and fire towards my friend, but that's just not me, My moto is forgive but never forget, because life is too short to hate, and with so much hate and messed up things going on in this Country & the World, I dont want to be another piece of fuel to the fire of the hatred machine

It's important yo understand whether such "cycles of abuse" can even be broken - and, in the interest of children and vulnerable adults, how we can break them. Imprisonment should not be about revenge or loss. It should hopefully be aimed at modifying behaviour and defusing dangerous people.
Dear Marcus, this all sounds very precarious. It feels as though you are being triggered by these reoccurring events and public exposures of grim abuse. It is all shocking and dehumanising. PTSD‘ is clearly a big issue here. How much therapy did you get? These are long lasting processes.
