If anyone is curious, I actually copied Stu's Ahwahnee build to try out carriers for the first time, It's great fun and I can recommend it. When the Typhon came out I simply moved everything from that build onto my new Typhon and replaced one Protomatter console with the Fortress mode the Typhon comes with and it still works great as a build.
@@sternguard8283 I am, I am still using the Elite Type 7s for the debuff but kept the Elite Valk's on the Typhon because I preferred the Torpedo Spread II of them instead of the newer Valk Mk2's only getting High Yield.
for more static builds I use the full crystal set, so once the place is filled with warp crystals, I just click and turn them into homing missiles-ish mines. On the other hand, whoever uses this and doesnt have neither crystal set omni or the pahvan omni, one good piece of omni would be the morphogenic polaron turret, cause it will adjust to the firing mode and behave either as turret or omnibeam, not just adopting the firing mode. It will fire bolts under scatter volley or beams under fire at will
I built mine with Refracting Tetryon turrets, 3 part Tzenkethi, 2 part Tholian Harmonics. Figured the auto turrets even though need a phaser buff, aren't really SUPER important and I view it more like a potential chaff clearer than actually hurting enemies. Quite pleased with it to be fair, actually got me out of my long used Cardassian carrier. That Needs of the Many skill usage sounds neat so I'll be sure to squeeze that in somewhere though!
I learned something fun about the Typhon's starship trait, So we all know that the advanced Valkyrie Fighter Squadron benefit from S.A.D (Superior Area Denial) But after some testing they also benefit from other Hangar bay traits such as Scramble fighters and Dominion co-ordination. This is pretty damn useful and probably the most versatile Hangar pet trait in the game because of this
Yeah, pretty much anything that effects your normal hangar pets will also effect the Valkyries summoned from the Typhon's trait. It's pretty awesome, especially since the pets from other traits like Hiverbearer don't work like that. It really is like having a third hangar bay.
Don't have access to SAD so I went a CA route (as I have all the good Beam Overload stuff anyway), having a good time with it. This is a good reference for what traits to use overall for sure, I still need a bunch of them.
Hey stu, SAD is from the engle attack ship which is a lockbox ship, but its also avaiable from the 12 anniversary bundle so also a zen trait if you buy the bundle which is also i nice bundle for the lexi and adamant.
Tbh, I'm a bit of behind on your vids, so doing a catch up marathong atm. Did you change your mic? Idk if it's just me but there's a tad of very minor crackling and a bit more noticeable, your 's'-s are quite sharp/harsh. This is not meant to bash on your vids, as I like them. Just genuine feedback from a fan. Also, dig what you did with the parse at the end. Instead of just showing a SFX hell (full gameplay) which I often watched on a small phone screen combined with a tiny as hell full screen parse, you highlighted certain aspects with voiceover, great stuff. That said, was glad to see the turret boat in action a bit while you went over the parses. Your last lazy boat short with the massive drifting and awesome tunes lives rent free in my head.
I've been having some audio issues lately. I think I solved some of it by moving the placement of the mic, but the crackling is a long-time issue that I've that is still driving me nuts.
Mine is more of a conventional tactical(no magic) turret build since my main is considered a projectile expert(has a family of assault layers). Gold quantum[pen] fore, gold photon[pen] aft. Bow has dual phaser cannons in addition to the Pulse and crafted[pen] phaser turrets. Stern is equipt with two fleet phaser turrets. Preferential Targeting and Ship of the Line are it's main abilities, along with Repurposed Cargo Bay Hanger working with the Valor fighters. Has both standard carrier consoles, High Energy Communications Network and Sensor Suspension Burst, along with the DOMINO and M6 Computer. And as with all my ships, Epic versions of the Lorca's Custom Fire Controls and Fleet K13 Xenotech Drift Module...And it cloaks. Fun Stuff!
The Gamma rep torp is Wide-Angle Advanced Inhibiting Chroniton Torpedo Launcher. Stick the rep turret on as well for the 2pc bonus. +10% Chroniton Weapon Damage +10% Polaron Energy Weapon Damage +10% Phaser Energy Weapon Damage +10% Flight Turn Rate
So I've had really good success running a frigate pet. I'm using the gemadar ones because I like geminadar but you could use any of the frigate pets that come off of the carrier, the support carriers and one of the type 7 shuttles. This gives me the debuff from the type 7 shuttles the frigates give me suppression barrage which gives me a little bit more survivability more debuff and then with the trait for the third hangar Bay. Realistically those are the ones that are doing most of my damage. This also lets me use the trait off of the Hydra which gives you a bonus damage based off of the biggest pet you have and the frigate gives you like the 30% or 40% damage boost which is great
Should have went with a disruptor build. With the dragonsblood flame reactor and the console from the Typhon you can get 63% cat2 bounce damage with disruptor torrents with those two console combined. Add the 2 piece Counter-Command Ordnance set with Turret and torp and you're at 70% bounce damage with disruptor with pretty much zero effort at all. Highest bounce damage in game you achieve for torrents with this setup. Would get the same numbers with Plasm if you went with the Lure Team Command Console instead of dragonsblood. The clickie on the Typhon Console being phaser is meaningless and should be ignored
Because you mentioned that there is currently no wide angle Maelstrom torpedoes in STO, id like to take a moment to go off track. Can we please ask the dev team to give us wide angle Maelstrom torps that are visually similar to the TOS and TNG photon torpedos? Im tired of playing my TOS and TNG themed builds but have to use the purple balls of death for the torpedo to actually do enough damage to make a difference.
I'm curious if you plan on doing a "Budget" Vovin build, given that it's a free event ship and I find those to be the best for true "Budget builds" since you can earn them free (and it doesn't get much more budget than that) So any new-ish players could have it and I personally am having a blast with it as a Tank carrier - though I focused on my Ba'ul beam arrays over my Hangar Bays. (I'm honestly waiting until the year End rewards hit my account to snag my very own Vengance, so an Alt will get their own Vovin)
The Vovin makes a really strong one of the best in game full pet build ships. 4 bays of fighters all boosted by SAD and other pet buffs is a lot of fun.

Quick question how heavily on doffs do you rely on borg boffs right now I utilize them heavily for cooldown and normally keep 1 security like 27 and 3 deflector officers like 37-47 along with boimler. Do you think I am overkilling on the borg doffs? They seem to really offer a lot for a duty officer. Especially 27 with crit chance and severity. Also does the typhon have survivability issues based on any of your runs?
Yeah, that's definitely overkill. I normally just use one of the deflector officers, generally the ones for Tac and whatever Spec the ship is. Sometimes I'll throw a second one on if I have it to cover a secondary spec and the sci seating to help the uncon triggers. but yeah, three is a lot. And yeah, I was having survival issues with several other tests depending on the enemies I was facing. I think it's a number of factors: it's an escort so it's already kinda squishy, I'm using turrets so I'm not killing this as fast as I could be with dual heavy cannons, and Needs of the Many is taking all my shields (Shield Absorptive Frequency Gen was not enough to overcome it, which is why I didn't use it here). Ive found that the Kelvin phasers and the loca 3 set is real amusing both visually and play wise. Not the most powerful, made less so by my un optimized build, but damn its fun to fly and watch.

Once i get this bundle on a 35% sale, i'll put a Virirdian Plasma turret build on the Typhon with Complex Plasma Fires from the Gorn Hunter. That should give some significant extra damage over time and also look cool. But yeah, the Typhon console needs to be buffed significantly. First of all, at least increase the firing arc of the deployed turrets to 180° and then buff their damage by at least 2x - 3x. It is primarily a tanking console, but maybe the turrets should act more like point defenses, targeting enemy fighters and torpedos with priority.
Do you think Strike Group Command Authority and using the jem hadar carrier console is more viable than having another trait slot available and a carrier hangar console?
supercharged weapons applies to pets greater than the sum is a massive pet damage bonus because it buffs their weapon power summon artillery vessels counts as a frigate for the 40% on strike command authority
How does this build do if you change out the Valors for Elite Type 7s? Co-Pilot tells me the Type 7s should come out on top. Yes. Bings AI, Co-Pilot. I call it "Chewie". Either way, it says that the the 2 debuffs from the Type 7s should be giving a better performance than using the Valor. HOWEVER... Co-Pilot doesn't play STO. It's not THAT neat. I'm just curious because 1 means buying a bundle and the other means buying 1 ship.
If built around pet damage Valour's are massively stronger then Type7's If built around ship damage or team damage you go for Type 7. Co-pilot doesn't understand context. Stingers fighters are cheaper and identical to Valours in DPS output. If you don't mind using a none Fed pet.
FaW. The 30% damage buff to turrets from the console is only cat1 (meaning the buff is calculated off of base damage, not total damage like a bonus damage buff is) so it's really not enough to overcome the inherent weakness of turrets compared to most other weapon types.
Agree to disagree. The Typhon is a Tactical Carrier. And honestly ALL Carriers should be tactical focused. Because in reality what carrier would be science focused? Are they science focused in the modern times? No? And somethings don't change.
What are the odds of older ships like the Jupiter carrier or the Orion Corsair carrier getting a rework? Compared to the newer ships their stats seem underwhelming.
Odd question: Does the typhons hanger trait pets gain ranks like a normal ? Iv used the high energy console and I have noticed the pets 4 set from obelisk gain ranks like normal hangers. And that trait would mix well with Hivebearer and maybe Hive defenses.
Yes, they level up like normal fighters. Fun fact, I've been told that Hivebearer also triggers with the launch of the Typhon trait pets, so you can actually get the Swarm pets out faster when paired with the Typhon trait.
Pure pet focused builds do more then just clear Elite patrols they solo ISE and HSE. Pet focused Carriers do around 500k to 700k solo or random groups and 1 million to 1.5+ million with the right support group. They can do any Elite content in game. A lot of players run 100% pet builds, never seen any Streamer do this though for some reason.
@@Milan_1389 Yes, you need to do 650k to 750k DPS to get past the first part of ISE which I can do with full pet builds. But that's a specialised ISE build, I wouldn't recommend it for random TFO content. I have dozens of full pet builds over many ships, its what I focus on. When you said pets only I assumed you meant main weapons included but the full focus on pets as main damage source?
kinda, but not really. That extra torp wouldn't be effected by torp firing modes and only fires once at a target. Kinda need it to do more than that if i'm gonna rely solely on it as a torpedo.
If you don't want Holographic Mirage which is pretty terrible. Why don't you take the pet trait Into the Breach which has a nice pet damage buff every time a pet kills a target? While not a full Carrier pet damage build you have a bit of a focus on pet damage buffs so why don't you drop the Type 7, take "Into the Breach " and fit FaW and you could double or triple the pet DPS output. Fit stronger pets and perhaps even quadruple damage output. 121k pet DPS with that many pet buffs is extremely low the problem is lack of FaW and the use of Type 7.
No HYDRA console or Swarmer Matrix? Missing out on 60% pet turn speed, flight speed and damage. Also hangar pets benefit from the 3 and 4 piece set bonuses from the Iconian rep set.
@@Stu1701 I mean you have room for one of them if you ditch the colony console (and the other if you actually did decide to ditch Fortress Mode). Also pets benefit from Super Charged Weapons (they get their own stacks of it when they fire torpedoes). Also Torpedo Command and Control would play well with this ship and the Valkyries/Valors. Also the Advanced Inhiobiting Heavy Phaser Turret for its -10 drr to targets slower than you.
At the time I wanted to keep the colony console to help with survivability, but after testing, it really didn't help as much as I had hoped. One just isn't enough to make a difference, so yeah, in hind sight, Hydra probably would've been a better move. Though at this point, I'm more likely to swap out the Fortress mode than anything else. As you said, the Inhibiting turret only applies the debuff to targets slower than you. When using Fortress Mode, I'm slower than everything, so it's not gonna do much. Even without Fortress mode, i tend to be mostly stationary in combat.
Not Command boff abilities, the Kodai fighters have Command integration, meaning whenever you use one of the Inspiration abilities (the Command ship mechanic) they fire an extra torp spread I. not a huge addition, but if you're using them a lot, it could make a difference.
@@Stu1701 That's not how it works and it is a huge addition as they fire 20 torpedo spreads per pet. So 240 extra torpedo spreads for 2 bays. When you use Inspiration abilities you trigger the ability which gives them a stack I think it was every 2 seconds over 40 seconds which stacks up to 20 stacks. Then they chain fire torpedo spread back to back until the 20 stacks runs out.. So you get something like a 400%+ increase in torpedo spam. They massively out torpedo Valkyrie pets.
It's really not compared to something like the Lexington. A turret boat needs to be beefier. If it's not, you're going to die a lot as you pull aggro but take too long to kill the target.
Auggie's not wrong. Normally turrets wouldn't have been my first idea for this kind of ship, but went with it because of the console (which didn't do nearly as well as I had hoped). So you can do turrets, but really, a large cruiser with a sec that's better for energy weapons build be better.
@AugmentedDictatorGames Unless your a Command Carrier with Reconstructive Wave like this Carrier. Then each time you buff your pets or use any Commmand power of which you have many your pets get a large DPS boost and you heal your ship a crazy amount. The Typhoon is way beefier like this then a Lexington.
I can almost copy this build minus the friendship trait and the protomatter tac console. Though if it were me, I'd probably throw on the Voth Carrier Synergies trait from the Voth Rampart Carrier.

a turret build on a ship with a missing weapon slot. i do not understand why people can even tolerate this 4/3 tiny ship .. let alone hyping this underwhelming bundle that only has 1 thing (hexacannon) that is good.
Had it on the previous version of the build, but it doesn't effect the Odysseys summoned by fleet support for some reason. Decided to ditch it this time for more summon consoles.
since you are that much of an oddy fan, why not using command frequenzy and friends in unusual places, cd is reduced to min, and over time it gets alot of fleet support on a map, also interference drones is a good pet trait, but also promo ship

Hivebearer has it's own cap, so it's not that you get a ton of pets because of pairing the two traits, you just get the ones from Hivebearer faster.
I really wish there was a way to add jemhadar wingmen to an none jem ship as I love them things.
Typhon needs full omni compatibility. You could also use the protostar set for some funny emergency movements and ordinance.

Interesting tidbit. You can start the Mycelial beam attack from the Revolutionary gear and then trigger fortress mode

Does superior Ariel Denial work with the Coordinated Assault trait that allows pets beam overload and cannon rapid fire when you use them as well?

It is primarily a tanking console, but maybe the turrets should act more like point defenses, targeting enemy fighters and torpedos with priority.
I think the idea was (especially with the extra "Hanger" from the trait) that you'd use one of the standard hangers as a defensive screen.
Do you think Strike Group Command Authority and using the jem hadar carrier console is more viable than having another trait slot available and a carrier hangar console?

How does this build do if you change out the Valors for Elite Type 7s? Co-Pilot tells me the Type 7s should come out on top. Yes. Bings AI, Co-Pilot. I call it "Chewie". Either way, it says that the the 2 debuffs from the Type 7s should be giving a better performance than using the Valor. HOWEVER... Co-Pilot doesn't play STO. It's not THAT neat. I'm just curious because 1 means buying a bundle and the other means buying 1 ship.
If built around pet damage Valour's are massively stronger then Type7's If built around ship damage or team damage you go for Type 7. Co-pilot doesn't understand context. Stingers fighters are cheaper and identical to Valours in DPS output. If you don't mind using a none Fed pet.
For this ship what would do more damage, a FAW build without the console, or turrets with the 30% console?
FaW. The 30% damage buff to turrets from the console is only cat1 (meaning the buff is calculated off of base damage, not total damage like a bonus damage buff is) so it's really not enough to overcome the inherent weakness of turrets compared to most other weapon types.

Odd question: Does the typhons hanger trait pets gain ranks like a normal ? Iv used the high energy console and I have noticed the pets 4 set from obelisk gain ranks like normal hangers. And that trait would mix well with Hivebearer and maybe Hive defenses.
Yes, they level up like normal fighters. Fun fact, I've been told that Hivebearer also triggers with the launch of the Typhon trait pets, so you can actually get the Swarm pets out faster when paired with the Typhon trait.

We need pet ONLY build. To see how much pets could do. Like in Robotech. It should clear some Elite patrols.
Pure pet focused builds do more then just clear Elite patrols they solo ISE and HSE. Pet focused Carriers do around 500k to 700k solo or random groups and 1 million to 1.5+ million with the right support group. They can do any Elite content in game. A lot of players run 100% pet builds, never seen any Streamer do this though for some reason.

@@Milan_1389 Yes, you need to do 650k to 750k DPS to get past the first part of ISE which I can do with full pet builds. But that's a specialised ISE build, I wouldn't recommend it for random TFO content. I have dozens of full pet builds over many ships, its what I focus on. When you said pets only I assumed you meant main weapons included but the full focus on pets as main damage source?

Lorca's set gets you a omni directional torp.... kinda.
kinda, but not really. That extra torp wouldn't be effected by torp firing modes and only fires once at a target. Kinda need it to do more than that if i'm gonna rely solely on it as a torpedo.

If you don't want Holographic Mirage which is pretty terrible. Why don't you take the pet trait Into the Breach which has a nice pet damage buff every time a pet kills a target?
While not a full Carrier pet damage build you have a bit of a focus on pet damage buffs so why don't you drop the Type 7, take "Into the Breach " and fit FaW and you could double or triple the pet DPS output. Fit stronger pets and perhaps even quadruple damage output. 121k pet DPS with that many pet buffs is extremely low the problem is lack of FaW and the use of Type 7.
You're right, while not directly buffing the pets, a damage res debuff would still benefit the pets' damage. That's a good idea.

No HYDRA console or Swarmer Matrix? Missing out on 60% pet turn speed, flight speed and damage. Also hangar pets benefit from the 3 and 4 piece set bonuses from the Iconian rep set.

@@Stu1701 I mean you have room for one of them if you ditch the colony console (and the other if you actually did decide to ditch Fortress Mode). Also pets benefit from Super Charged Weapons (they get their own stacks of it when they fire torpedoes). Also Torpedo Command and Control would play well with this ship and the Valkyries/Valors.
Also the Advanced Inhiobiting Heavy Phaser Turret for its -10 drr to targets slower than you.
At the time I wanted to keep the colony console to help with survivability, but after testing, it really didn't help as much as I had hoped. One just isn't enough to make a difference, so yeah, in hind sight, Hydra probably would've been a better move.
Though at this point, I'm more likely to swap out the Fortress mode than anything else.
As you said, the Inhibiting turret only applies the debuff to targets slower than you. When using Fortress Mode, I'm slower than everything, so it's not gonna do much. Even without Fortress mode, i tend to be mostly stationary in combat.
Full protostar turrets yay or nay. Been loving it, just asking.
If you're just judging them based off proc, I'd got Radiolytic over Protostar phasers.

No. The only reason there are advanced Valkyries on the build is because those come from the Typhon trait

Not Command boff abilities, the Kodai fighters have Command integration, meaning whenever you use one of the Inspiration abilities (the Command ship mechanic) they fire an extra torp spread I. not a huge addition, but if you're using them a lot, it could make a difference.

@@Stu1701 That's not how it works and it is a huge addition as they fire 20 torpedo spreads per pet. So 240 extra torpedo spreads for 2 bays.
When you use Inspiration abilities you trigger the ability which gives them a stack I think it was every 2 seconds over 40 seconds which stacks up to 20 stacks. Then they chain fire torpedo spread back to back until the 20 stacks runs out.. So you get something like a 400%+ increase in torpedo spam. They massively out torpedo Valkyrie pets.

The 45 degree arc makes no sense for a turret console. The trailer for the bundle even shows it firing in 360 degrees
I prefer to think of Fortress Mode less as an "Attack in any direction" console and more of an "Attack in EVERY direction " console

It's really not compared to something like the Lexington. A turret boat needs to be beefier. If it's not, you're going to die a lot as you pull aggro but take too long to kill the target.
Auggie's not wrong. Normally turrets wouldn't have been my first idea for this kind of ship, but went with it because of the console (which didn't do nearly as well as I had hoped). So you can do turrets, but really, a large cruiser with a sec that's better for energy weapons build be better.
@AugmentedDictatorGames Unless your a Command Carrier with Reconstructive Wave like this Carrier. Then each time you buff your pets or use any Commmand power of which you have many your pets get a large DPS boost and you heal your ship a crazy amount. The Typhoon is way beefier like this then a Lexington.
I can almost copy this build minus the friendship trait and the protomatter tac console. Though if it were me, I'd probably throw on the Voth Carrier Synergies trait from the Voth Rampart Carrier.

assuming we get a legendary typhon (it's pretty early to say), i wouldn't be surprised if they released more Invasion fighters with it.

since you are that much of an oddy fan, why not using command frequenzy and friends in unusual places, cd is reduced to min, and over time it gets alot of fleet support on a map, also interference drones is a good pet trait, but also promo ship
