    I wish they could come out with weedless hard plastic lures. One of the biggest annoyances in fishing are treble hooks that picks up grass and snags easily. Weedless hard plastic lures would revolutionize the category. I've converted some cranks and jerbaits to single hooks but haven't done much testing.

      Another option that I just started experimenting with is modifying the Johnson Minnow spoons. There is a vid floating around on how to modify them so they are weedless.

    Thanks for this great video, Glenn. I have a lot of crankbaits but fish them vry seldomly. Partly because of the lots of grass here in our local dams in my home province in South Africa and partly because i don't have a lot of cofidence in my skill fishing them. This is going to help me a lot as i fish mainly braid and will use one of my fluorocarbon spooled reels. Awesome chaneel and video as always. Tight lines and good health to you.

    Hey Glenn, Im a bank fisherman. Since I am retrieving uphill any difference for us bank fisherman with your choice of crankbaits? I usually dont use one that dives deeper than 8ft. Mostly I use squarbills or a DT 4, 2 or sometimes a DT 6. What do you think of the what Im throwing? Id like to hear what you think for me to throw as a bank fisherman. I do like rip rap, like the rocky banks.

    Collecting Crankbaits are to a fisherman like tool collecting is to a mechanic. 😊

      I can almost remember where I found each one. In the last yr and half, I have found like 28 lipless crankbaits; salvaged all but 4.

    Iv tried using a moderate rod on a DEEP diver KVD and it worked me to death. The rod was bent the whole retrieve the whole time.

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  Місяць тому

      A medium-heavy rod is better suited for those deep-deep, large crankbaits.

    That's a lot of lures to buy. Four different styles of lures, two different lip styles, and three colors of each of those.

      Start with 3 for the upcoming season and build your tacklebox from there. Look in the trees and bushes for lost lures. I found so many!!

      @@funkymojo111 Thanks, but no thanks. I'm an old man. Never really used them. Have caught fish without them since I was a kid. I'm trying to minimize the amount of gear and tackle I have. Not buy more.

      @bassresource  Рік тому

      Ok, so it really has nothing to do with what crankbaits to get. You just don't like crankbaits period. Thanks for your comments!

      @@bassresource It’s not just that. You’ve just advised folks to get 20+ crankbaits. That’s just in one size. Surely you don’t think one size is enough. I’m sure they’ll need one or two sizes larger or smaller also. That’s approaching 100 crankbaits. It just proves the fishing industry is designed to catch fishermen, not fish. When I know I can catch those same fish without needing to buy 20 -100 crankbaits.

    Won't the bait keep sinking if you keep reeling?
    I'm always worried about it snagging on something on the bottom.

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  10 місяців тому +1

      Once a crankbait reaches its maximum diving depth, it stays there and iwill gradually rise as it gets closer to you.

    • @mastersergeant8672
      @mastersergeant8672 10 місяців тому

      @@bassresource did not know that. Figgered it'd keep diving as I reel.

    What if you don't know how deep the water is?

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  Місяць тому

      Use a medium-dive crankbait. If it hits bottom, use a shallower-diving crankbait, otherwise use a deeper-diving crankbait until you bump the bottom a little.
