I think it's really great that you guys explain what to look for in a lure whether it's high quality swivels that let the blades spin well in spinnerbaits or the placement of the eye in finesse jigs that help you bring them through rocks and prevent hang ups. Showing the different retrieves is really great too. It's the helpful and unique insight that keeps me coming back to this channel time and time again.
Excellent tutorial!! I'm not a proficient jig angler, however I am going to employ these techniques when I'm back on the water. I have some awesome places I need to do this!! Thanx Glenn for the tips!!
I have been fishing finesse jigs for a while now with some success but not a whole lot of confidence. After watching the video, I can't wait to get back out there and try it again. I'm especially excited to try the new retrieves I have learned from this. Love it and thanks!😃
Those tips will definitely help when the bite gets tuff. And I agree with switching to 6lb line. It makes a big difference in clearwater. Another great video Glenn, keep em coming. Thanks!
Great video and tips Glenn. I really like the addition of the underwater footage so we can see the action of the jig. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I just started fishing jigs more this year. I haven't fished the finesse jigs much at all but, after this video I'm going to give them a shot! Great tips Glenn!
Just started using these myself recently. Haven't caught anything on them yet but with the tips in this video I am sure I will get something soon! Great video once again!
You tell a bunch that I already know, but it's a great thing to keep me grounded and think about those little things that I overlook through the day. And I love to send new anglers or learning anglers to you channel. You are doing great with to the point tips and not a lot of fluff.... keep it up 👍
Finesse was all new to me but with the help of videos like this I'm at least becoming better at it! Jigs as a finesse bait really threw me. Thanks for the helpful video!
I never would have thought to drag or crawl the finesse jig. Thanks I will be sure to use these. Also love the underwater footage of the crawl so we could see what the jig does down there not enough instructional videos do this.
Great video Glen! So much knowledge in all of you videos but this one especially surprised me. I like how you talk about presentation and line because they both are extremely important. I have never fished finesse jig but now I have plenty to take with me next time on the water. thank you!
Thanks for the tips Glen. Using floro instead of braid. Keeping backed away versus the close up flip/pitch of a bigger jig. Can't wait to give it all a try.
I watched this yesterday morning and I downsized to 10 lbs line (i normally use 15lbs). It worked for me. I hooked on a very nice 5-lber. Very cool! Super cool baits too. Thanks Glenn
I have never used the yoyo method i have always did more of a straight swim jig. I am going to try some of the finesse jig method didnt think there was so many different retrieves. Thank you for your videos i have learned so much from them.
I've got three or four finesse jigs in my bag.......but havn't gotten comfortable with the style. I'll give it another try, and see how it goes. Thanks, Glenn, for the info
Glenn, once again great video. Like the idea of using 25lb floor for pitching and flipping finesse crawl or perhaps other small creature baits when the bite is tough. Applying the different retrieves for various situations is great thx again.
This is really interesting because I usually think of jigs as big bass baits and go to a small straight tail worm for finesse. The finesse jig might pick up bites that I was missing out on before.
Glenn: Notice you do'nt wear button shirts. Thats good!!! I notice also that my saved videos recently have been loading up with Bass Resource, Glenn May videos. I Like your teaching style. This vid is a great example ..... especially including the underwater photog. clarifying the technique. You definitely have a special talent. Am a lifetime almost 85 year old fly fisherman, retired guide, with 5 new spin and casting conventional outfits, learning a new technique....with my trusty fly rod close by, I might add. Many top bass pros are as knowledgeable as you....maybe more ?......but sometimes they know and assume too much, and just do not have the teaching ability and have difficulty in transferring their knowledge in an understandable fashion to us newbies. Keep up the good work.
LOVE them Strike King Rage Tails...caught a new PB last year at 8 lb 2 oz in IL on them!!! Got a new PB at 10 lb 4 oz here in IL this yaer!!! Finesse=very slow presentation with small baits!!! Use the ball head jigs to get through light weeds and rocks! Be a line watchers and time counter too!!! Gentle lift and drop or drag with rod. Crawl it too!!!
As always, great information! I don't have any finesse jigs in my tackle bag right now, but I will very soon. Thanks for making these videos and making them so a novice like me can understand them. Love your channel and website!
It does take a lot of practice to fish with jigs like the pro's do, It is one of the harder baits to fish with. Finesse hits this Video on the head. Thanks Rob
Since I fish a lot of wood, I don't use the traditional finesse ball head jigs. I do love the 1/4 oz structure, skipping, and swim jigs. I have a few 1/2-3/4 oz jigs I use when I fish deep, but my jig box is slowly being taken over by these micro jigs. They work all the time.
I love using jigs.... thanks for the tips.. great video as always. I appreciated the rig tips too. I wish more videos touched on rod n reel, you even covered line weight.. nice details. Thanks!
I have been using the Bitsey Bug for several years now, mostly 10# test, this year i have down sized to 8#, I do alot of finesse fishing and hadn't really thought of using 6# , but always willing to try something new...
Great info. Your frog one helped me get my personal best 6.24 lb. Jiggin is my weakness so I will try this on Friday. Going to Lake Eufaula ,Al will let you know how I do. Got em ali rigged up already.
Fantastic video once again guys great information like always. You guys are really a outstanding resource for bass fisherman worldwide. Keep up the amazing work 👍
I was not aware that there was such a thing as a "finesse jig" until watching this. I will have to seek them out and give it a try. Anything that solicits bites on a tough day is something I need!
I agree that light 6, 8lb test line can be used, but the reason I use heavier line with jigs is because I'm expecting my line to get nicked and roughed up during a retrieve because I'm generally fishing around cover. On a stronger pound test it won't matter as much. Yes, I always re-tie if I notice these sort of rough patches in my line but I don't do a full 4-5' line check on every cast :)
I didn't know that you could fish a jig as a finesse jig. After this video I see how versatile this can be. I like using spinning equipment, so I will be trying this method the nest time I go fishing.
Great video. I use a 7' Med fast action with 15lb braid with about a 10' foot long 8lb flouro leader. My reel selection I use something over a 6.2:1 spinning so I can reel down on the fish fast. I only upside my braid because the lakes I fish the transition of grass to sand is thick and need to be able to wrench my jig out if i get hung up of it the fish gets hung up in the grass.
Enjoyed the video. I just started fishing with jigs last fall with mixed results. Maybe finesse jigs will help to get a bite when things are slow. I will give them a try.
Just learning to use the finesse jig. Your tips will help. I agree with you about them hitting right at the boat. It about gives me a heart attack too.
i just picked up my first spinning set up the other day bought a st croix premier in 7 ft medium-fast with a lews custom pro speed spin in 3000 size using 15# braid with 12# fluoro leader, i live in fl and im terrified to go lighter with my leader lol
I fish a couple of small rivers in my area. It's full of rocks and crayfish. I typically throw a baby D bomb with a 1/16th bullet weight or even a split shot. When the bite is slow I do the crawl thing and I get more bites that way. I'm going fishing tomorrow to a local reservoir and I have a box of finesse jigs I want to try if the bite is slow. I've never used them before. I just hope I can figure out where to throw them. Lots of steep banks and clean shorelines and some nice points of course. Where ever I fish them it will be shallow I guess since it's spring.
yes!! the fine art of finesse jigging. i wonder if you can take a traditional Jig and move the top of the skirt down to turn it into a finesse jig and get the same results?
I do allot of finesse fishing and I use allot of different types of jigs. My favorite way to fish them is to crawl them on the bottom. but this video gave me a few more ideas to try when my method is not working.
Thanks for the great videos, I've never had luck with jigs, i just have a few of different styles but i don't have any finesse ones, this video makes me change the way i think, i tough bigger were better but wit this video i learned that some times the size is not all, other think is the line, I've never used 6 lb line, but thanks to you i will try it. Other think is that i was in the believe that jigs were only to heavy cover that's way i only have 1/2 oz and above jigs, the retrieve also is a good tip. I cant wait to go an try it in the water, thanks
I always uses finesse jigs when the bass are getting picky. But the video has good tips. I don't think that I will be using 6lb line any time soon though.
You nailed it on the drag - I use 6# test all the time and have landed some pretty big fish on a finesse jig.
I think it's really great that you guys explain what to look for in a lure whether it's high quality swivels that let the blades spin well in spinnerbaits or the placement of the eye in finesse jigs that help you bring them through rocks and prevent hang ups. Showing the different retrieves is really great too. It's the helpful and unique insight that keeps me coming back to this channel time and time again.

a few people don't have the patience, but jig is one of my favorites... many techniques to mimic real world.... walk, drag, etc. thx.
Excellent tutorial!! I'm not a proficient jig angler, however I am going to employ these techniques when I'm back on the water. I have some awesome places I need to do this!! Thanx Glenn for the tips!!
Glad to help, Frank M. Let me know how it works out as I would love to see the results.
I have been fishing finesse jigs for a while now with some success but not a whole lot of confidence. After watching the video, I can't wait to get back out there and try it again. I'm especially excited to try the new retrieves I have learned from this. Love it and thanks!😃
You're welcome Dustyh! Thanks for watching.
Finesse jigs are quickly becoming one of my favorite techniques. Especially for Smallies! Great info thanks for this vid!
You're welcome britt murray! Thanks for watching.
All your videos are very informative and have helped me become a better angler. Jigs will help a lot around the ponds where I live
Parker Fleming, glad I can help. Thanks for subscribing as well.
Those tips will definitely help when the bite gets tuff. And I agree with switching to 6lb line. It makes a big difference in clearwater. Another great video Glenn, keep em coming. Thanks!
Ricky White II, glad I could help. Let me know which tips helped the most. Looking forward to hearing much more from you.
I'll check my tackle today & see if I have a top tie jig. May use the technique tomorrow, weather permitting. Thanks for the useful Info, Glen.
Great video and tips Glenn. I really like the addition of the underwater footage so we can see the action of the jig. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks, Dewayne Atwell, I appreciate your feedback.
I just started fishing jigs more this year. I haven't fished the finesse jigs much at all but, after this video I'm going to give them a shot! Great tips Glenn!
Hi Jim Harris, glad I could provide value. Which one of them did you find most helpful?
Fall fishing is here in 2020 and here i am watching this to help get my technique down
Thank you!!!
Glad to help!
30 years of knowledge, can't go wrong. Bite has gotten tough around here recently, guess it's time for some finesse jigging. Thumbs up Guys!!
Good, informative video. I like that you covered all the bases. Rods, reel, line, weight and technique.
Just started using these myself recently. Haven't caught anything on them yet but with the tips in this video I am sure I will get something soon! Great video once again!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great tips and videos. I have never considered finesse jigs. Will have to give it a try.
These videos are awesome. Finesse jigs one of my favorite ways to beat a tough bite.
Excellent video on finesse jig fishing with details on the little presentation nuances that make the difference between catching and nothing.
You tell a bunch that I already know, but it's a great thing to keep me grounded and think about those little things that I overlook through the day. And I love to send new anglers or learning anglers to you channel. You are doing great with to the point tips and not a lot of fluff.... keep it up 👍
Thanks, 208 Angler, I appreciate your feedback.
Excellent information on finesse jig fishing! When its tough and fish won't chase....finesse them!
Finesse was all new to me but with the help of videos like this I'm at least becoming better at it! Jigs as a finesse bait really threw me. Thanks for the helpful video!
Pete Scales, glad I can help. Thanks for subscribing as well.
I love using small jigs. Caught some of my biggest bass on them. Thanks for another great video.
I never would have thought to drag or crawl the finesse jig. Thanks I will be sure to use these. Also love the underwater footage of the crawl so we could see what the jig does down there not enough instructional videos do this.
Nice! We love to hear feedback like this. Thanks for being a loyal viewer!

Thanks for the tips Glen. Using floro instead of braid. Keeping backed away versus the close up flip/pitch of a bigger jig. Can't wait to give it all a try.
I've never really downsized my baits and slowed things down like I should. I need to try these tips out. Thanks Glen!
Finally a video on finesse jig fishing. My favorite.
Glad you liked it David Powell!
I watched this yesterday morning and I downsized to 10 lbs line (i normally use 15lbs). It worked for me. I hooked on a very nice 5-lber. Very cool!
Super cool baits too.
Thanks Glenn

Great! Let me know how you do!
Have fished these before but the video gave me several ideas for additional ways to present them when my usual way is not producing.
I'm teaching myself how to jig fish right now, so this will be some more learning for me! I will be trying this technique!
Great! Let me know how you do!
Great video Glen.. learn so much when i watch these videos!.. keep em coming!
Hi Eddie Blanco. Thanks for the feedback and support. I look forward to hearing more from you.
Very good tips Glen and the results were a couple of fish worth reeling in during the video. Nice!! :-)
Excellent information on finesse jig fishing, They will pick up fish other guys miss, thats for sure!
Hot summer in central Florida, finesse jig is the only way to go. Great info.
Glenn, once again great video. Like the idea of using 25lb floor for pitching and flipping finesse crawl or perhaps other small creature baits when the bite is tough. Applying the different retrieves for various situations is great thx again.
Thanks for watching Jerome Dwojak!
I am not a very good jig fisherman so any information is good for me, however I am a fan of light tackle so finesse may be right up my alley.
Finess jigs - one of my go-to methods here on Table Rock. Thanks for the informative video.
This is really interesting because I usually think of jigs as big bass baits and go to a small straight tail worm for finesse. The finesse jig might pick up bites that I was missing out on before.

I'm going to have to try them. I usually just go to a wacky rigged Senko when the bite is tough.
LOVE them Strike King Rage Tails...caught a new PB last year at 8 lb 2 oz in IL on them!!! Got a new PB at 10 lb 4 oz here in IL this yaer!!! Finesse=very slow presentation with small baits!!! My goal is to figure out jig fishing this year. This helps. Thanks
I have a couple of finesse jigs that I've never tied on, mainly because I'm inexperienced with them. This vid makes me want to give them a try.
Caught my biggest bass finessing a jig. They can't resist it. Great tips!
Very Good video! I need to put these in my go to box!! Keep up the Great Job with all the information.
I was not aware that there was such a thing as a "finesse jig" until watching this. I will have to seek them out and give it a try. Anything that solicits bites on a tough day is something I need!
6lb test, i don't know if I can do that. However a lot of these tips can be used from both the boat and from shore. Thanks for sharing.
yeah 10 to 14 would be light for the types of jugs
Good video. Finesse jigs are a confidence bait for me. Thanks Glenn!
I've bean throwing them around lily pads, with a mister twister grub style tail on it. Works great.
I agree that light 6, 8lb test line can be used, but the reason I use heavier line with jigs is because I'm expecting my line to get nicked and roughed up during a retrieve because I'm generally fishing around cover. Great info. Need to get me some fitness jigs and try this. Thanks.
Enjoyed the video. I just started fishing with jigs last fall with mixed results. Maybe finesse jigs will help to get a bite when things are slow. I will give them a try.

Great stuff,Glen! I'm using jigs more and more and was wondering what the difference of the finesse jig was. Very informative as always.
i just picked up my first spinning set up the other day bought a st croix premier in 7 ft medium-fast with a lews custom pro speed spin in 3000 size using 15# braid with 12# fluoro leader, i live in fl and im terrified to go lighter with my leader lol
Luv me some finesse jigs. I like a white one with a white Yamamoto grub trailer when they are feeding on shad.
Great information! I love fishing jigs and I'm always looking to find new ways to make fish bite!
Another great tip, I will try it next time I'm on the lake.
I fish a couple of small rivers in my area. It's full of rocks and crayfish. I typically throw a baby D bomb with a 1/16th bullet weight or even a split shot. When the bite is slow I do the crawl thing and I get more bites that way.

Another great video. I like fishing those thru sparse grass. Also great for rip rap.
I always uses finesse jigs when the bass are getting picky. But the video has good tips. I don't think that I will be using 6lb line any time soon though.
