Read the study again: they only tested up to 3 hours in the air. It could last longer in the air. Other studies indicate it lasts 9 days on some surfaces depending on temperature. This isn’t a time to downplay the risks, this is a time to apply the precautionary principle and assume the worst.
Im not a scientist Bob, but I can confirm I have heard what you are saying. There were studies coming out of China I believe, saying up to 9 days on specific surfaces. I also heard that it can effectively act as completely aerosolised, with Brownian motion keeping it lingering in the air for 24+hours. Regarding the virus particle spread ... personally when it comes to cleaning, protection and washing ... I treat it like norovirus crossed with radioactive fallout. I assume it can last anywhere for a long time .. transfer from surface to surface ... and persists in the air and on things, effectively. The GOOD news is ... that unlike other bugs ... soap and water kills it rather well IF you wash properly. But yeah a study out of Singapore showed that a patient could literally cover their entire room, AND get it through the aircon .. during a 1 day test period. Personally Im scrubbing the shit out of everything, and treating it as fully airborne contaminant.
*@TheWtfnonamez* exactly! If you haven’t decontaminated the surface yourself, assume it’s infected and act accordingly and you’ll be fine. It’s similar with people: since this spreads asymptomatically the only safe assumption is to treat everyone as if they’re infected and act accordingly. Every person who needlessly gets sick is on the margin acting to kill an old person. I think we shouldn’t kill old people. So let’s take this seriously and not be part of the problem. Take care my friend, I wish you and yours all the best!

Doctor Mike Hansen I realise you are probably run off your feet right now but when you do get a chance, could you please do a video that explains just what is/are the differences between Covid-19 and The SARS Virus? And why it may still take a year or longer for a vaccine for Covid-19? Thanking You In Advance ☮️⚛️🇦🇺
Hello, thank you fro the great content! I already wash hands all the time, avoid people, clean surfaces and try not to touch my face with my hands at all, however I am going to supermarket to get food where there are people. Even if I keep the distance and clean my food too, there is a possibility to inhale the virus. Do you recommend wearing face mask in this situation and if there are no face masks available, do you know if I could make a diy face mask, which would give me some protection? There are some dyi instructions for doing a face mask online, but I would love to have a professional opinion if this is possible to make yourself.
I'm a hairstylist and I am all about cleaning hands and properly. However it is so important to self isolate. Stay safe out there ya all. Keep it safe. Much love.
Anyone watching this video should check its sources. The Dr in question is talking about the SARS virus from over a decade ago and has nothing to do with COVID 19. NOTHING TO DO WITH COVID 19!
Brilliant, excellent work. Cannot thank you enough for your vids, no hype or crap, to the point useful info regardless of what country you are in. I plug your channel and vids at every opportunity. Please keep up the good work, easier said than done I know you have a full time job to.

It would be a terrible thing to step into an elevator when you don't know who sneezed and aerosolized or not right before your use. Wearing mask is the only protection from it.
This is a good point. People who sneeze and cough out of your sight in common areas. Its like laying an aerial minefield. When i step into elevators, I breathe shallow, and through my nose, I might even close my eyes. I may cover my face, and not until I'm off the elevator, do I resume normal breathing. Its merely a tactic to mitigate sucking up pathogens. (big open breathing through mouth seams like more invitation to viruses to come on in.)
True. That is why Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore had everyone wear mask. However we still have so many physician in Canada telling people that mask does not work!
Thanks for the information, Dr. Hansen. My concerns are with picking up groceries and mail and package deliveries, I wish there were some guidelines concerning how to address...

I had to show my family how fast a virus could travel, I know its a Hollywood's movie and things don't happen that way in real life, but.. Thanks for what you do and your time.
I appreciated this video - many woman didn’t wash hands either. I like how you touch topics in detail, though some things are too technical. I been in a hotel and elevators are my big issue when young sport kids are careless of others in elevators. They see 2 people and they hop in some without masks and talking all the way. In breakfast rooms they hold meetings and kids sit everywhere including counters, no home manners Orr respect of others. Hotels are trying very hard. I carry Lysol spray, gloves like the 60s. & always with sunglasses & mask.
Yes, I’d like to see a video on proper hand washing. I also wonder what to do with the clothes that I’m wearing when I come in the house from being somewhere around people. Do I need to wash them right away, or can I leave them on something by the door and put them on again when I go outside. I don’t know if i’m doing the right thing or not. Also what about boxes we receive in the mail? And items in the boxes? Do they need to be cleaned?
Sounds crazy but as soon as I walk into my house (and any other household members) we take off all our clothes and throw them straight into the washer machine until its a full load. After we do that we take quick showers to get any germs off. Then after all that we grab our keys and phone and wipe them down with alcohol. As for shipment I've been opening them outside and try not to bring the box inside the house and wipe down w.e. it is we recieve with Clorox wipes. Sigh this life kinda sucks right now.

Thank you Dr Mike Hansen for important info-videos. Can you please give some information on what temperatures ( Celsius and Fahrenheit) are sufficient to eliminate COVID 19 virus and how long the exposure should be to effectively kill the virus. Best regards!
Dr Mike, we appreciate your channel and the important information you give. How about giving us a simple recipe to make our own hand sanitizer and surface top and door knob sanitizer. Although there are videos on these topic, they vary widely and we don't know who to trust. Thank you for your time and consideration.
I looked up how long viruses can stay in the air. When the humidity is high and someone coughs or sneezes, the droplets stay large and fall to the ground pretty fast. But when the air is dry, it pulls the droplets apart, making them a lot smaller, like a mist and they can stay in the air way longer.
Calm Heart yep, this thing, like other CVs, is heat, humidity, & pH sensitive. Raise all 3 to lower risk of spreading! Temp >70°F dramatically reduces transfer, none detected at >86°F in study with previous strain of CV. (I think it was SARS-1) Exercise, raise your body temp! Get in a sauna if you can! Humidity >50% dramatically lowers transmission for the reasons you stated. Virtually none at 80% humidity--but unless you're in FL or TX if in the USA, or a rain forest, you're probably gonna have to plug in a humidifier at home, and 80% saturation in home will be dangerous for structures (wood, electrical) & bump up mold, mildew, & fungus colonies. Use a sauna or steam room if you have access to one, or can create one. pH has to be slightly acidic for the virus to be able to attach to the receptor & enter the cell. Nix sugars, grains, starches & alcohol and push your fluids slightly alkaline and it can't dock, high jack cells & replicate. It's not rocket science. Just simple hygiene practices & basic lifestyle choices conducive to good health & a robust immune system! ☺
hallobre Woman who was a child & survived Spanish Flu said her family was one of very few that didn’t get the horrible illness & her mother had them all drinking a tsp baking soda in water every morning🧐maybe it was the reason??!
@@sweetpeace5 No wash your hands stay away form people and take Vit. D you are likely low in Vt.. D & it is used by your immune system to work properly.
For your info airline air-conditioning don't have air filters. Aircraft use a ACM for pressurized cabin and air conditioning. All air flows out of the aircraft through a outlet that maintains 5psi cabin pressure. Lot more than I can text here
Please also let us know what role does the surface temperature play. If higher temperatures of surfaces could kill the virus in lesser time, it would be a great help to figure out better sanitization methods for public places with lesser chemicals used.
How long it will live in vegetables, Greens and non veg. How can we clean and use consume. Food is very important in life. Please advise on the same doctor
Thank you. Also if you are receiving goods like groceries even boxes delivered wouldn’t it be wise to wash everything and handle it with gloves etc to be careful?? Don’t know who’s handled it. What about fresh produce like lettuce which is hard to wash? Can u discuss proper handling by chance? Awesome info I’ve been following you for a bit. Thank you for providing this as so many are complacent or don’t understand. Oh and glad guys are getting it. 🤢
With respect to packaged products, I saw recommendations elsewhere that, ideally, people would let the packages sit unopened in some remote area, then opened in the remote area while wearing gloves, discarding the package materials, and washing the hands immediately following this procedure.
Washing my hands at home in the bathroom, for example: is using a hand towel an opportunity to spread germs, even after 20 sec washing? If I use a paper towel I know to turn off the faucet with the paper towel, but in my bathroom I have no paper towels so end up touching the same faucet after washing.
Can you do a few info lists (Ie ten things to know about virus lasting). There are many people too impatient to listen or watch videos and those we come into contact with need to know. Thanks 😊
Now is a time to ramp up on hygiene. Hands, distance, money, can all pose a challenge in controlling the virus. This is an invisible enemy that we have to visualized it.
I’m glad you called out people who don’t wash hands after using the bathroom. It needs to be said. Way too many people don’t do this and they leave public restrooms a mess for the next person. STOP being so egocentric and think of your fellow man!
Thank you! I didn't know how long it can live on cardboard boxes. Good to know I guessed right and I'm healthy. The box is not contaminated. An international concerned parent (who I teach their child online) sent me N-95 masks to my surprise. Her heartfelt message to me and everyone (she did her best to write in English with her cell translator): "May God bless you all. I hope the US epidemic can pass quickly. May all people be healthy and happy."

4UnlimitedBEing would drinking a pinch of baking soda in water help with the ph?
hallobre Woman who was a child & survived Spanish Flu said her family was one of very few that didn’t get the horrible illness & her mother had them all drinking a tsp baking soda in water every morning🧐maybe it was the reason??!
@@sweetpeace5 No wash your hands stay away form people and take Vit. D you are likely low in Vt.. D & it is used by your immune system to work properly.
Go for it Dr
I'd like a video for my family to watch about proper hand washing, please.
Thank you Dr. for posting the videos ...straight to the point..
Thank for the info, Is this means I cannot open my windows to have fresh air?
For your info airline air-conditioning don't have air filters. Aircraft use a ACM for pressurized cabin and air conditioning. All air flows out of the aircraft through a outlet that maintains 5psi cabin pressure. Lot more than I can text here
Thank you for continuing to inform us
Thank you so much for what you're doing! It's a great video.
Quick and concise information. I don't like those long winded people. Thanks for the video.
Thank you sir. Stay safe
I would like to know if a patient who had tuberculosis is at higher risk. Thank you!
What are the current treatment procedure, would you please explain..
Great info - thanks for making these. Any info on if there is danger of re-infection?
People in Japan who were infected and recovered have started getting re-infected and it's worse the second time around
@@CatMom5050 not surprising. Thanks for responding. Hopefully a vaccine will be created soon.
Thanks for another great video :D
Could you do another autopsy review?
Please also let us know what role does the surface temperature play. If higher temperatures of surfaces could kill the virus in lesser time, it would be a great help to figure out better sanitization methods for public places with lesser chemicals used.
THANKS. KEEP GOING GOOD VIDEOS ON COVID19 ON ALL ASPECTS.
thanks, this is the exact question I've been looking answers for.
Don't worry, three hours floating in the air means we all are screwed
Thank you so much for caring and educating!
Washing my hands at home in the bathroom, for example: is using a hand towel an opportunity to spread germs, even after 20 sec washing? If I use a paper towel I know to turn off the faucet with the paper towel, but in my bathroom I have no paper towels so end up touching the same faucet after washing.
Leave the faucet on after washing then use Bleach and water to spray down all the faucets then turn it off.
I love all your video!!!! Just love!!!
Thank you for your hard work.
Dr. Hansen, how long can the virus live in a deceased body? Is cremation recommended? Is the body safe for morgue and funeral preparation?
... Hey Doc, thanks for taking the time to explain...
The only thing I dont like about tour Chanel Is that I would like them more often I love them
I’m glad you called out people who don’t wash hands after using the bathroom. It needs to be said. Way too many people don’t do this and they leave public restrooms a mess for the next person. STOP being so egocentric and think of your fellow man!
I bet you get a few raised brows watching dudes using the restroom...lol! Stay safe everyone.
How much time does it stays alive on food items
