Oranguru is one of the strongest psychic types actually due to it's signature move being instruct so in doubles you essentially make your other pokemon attack twice which is absolutely broken.
It’s actually a pretty good trick room setter and support Pokémon in doubles thanks to trick room (obviously), the abilities telepathy and symbiosis, instruct, a good typing and actually quite solid stats. But yeah in singles, it’s pretty mediocre.
Story time: On a playthrough of Emerald I managed to catch a shiny Spoink. This Spoink was pretty strong even if was under leveled. I used it on my team going against Winona (Flying type gym leader) and even at lvl 25, it beat her Altieria by itself. When it evolved it somehow became worse and weaker.
Fun fact Mr mime made Batton pass teams overpowered that he got ban from gen 3 OU before even considering baning the move This litterly explains how a gimmick can make or break a pokemon like curse cridaly in gen 4

I still remember the first time I got an unown, it was well before I put much thought into my playthroughs and I was so excited. Used it once, realised it was utter hot garbage and that was probably one of the first pieces of pokemon information I retained.

I’m actually using a Hypno named Zeke that I bred for in my Pokémon HeartGold. He actually has 3 perfect IV’s those being his HP, Defense, and Special Defense. Right now he’s level 36. He has 120 HP, 71 Defense, and 100 Special Defense. I think he has some EV’s in those three stats so he’s a lot bulkier than Hypno is usually according to what you said. I’m not a competitive player so IDC how bad a Pokémon does there, but if they aren’t doing well on my team I box them.
I know you called Oricorio's presence in these lists a cop-out, but honestly, I kept being surprised by it because I forgot it more often than I should.
Normal/Psychic is honestly better than Pure Psychic. Having one less weakness and adding an immunity is definitely worth having one less resistance. Plus, you have to admit that Oranguru is very clearly designed as a Doubles Pokémon.
Sidenote: Poliwrath is not that bad of a Pokémon. It shouldn’t of been lower than #6 on the previous list. Edit: Yeah. I’m still pretty salty 🧂 about the fighting type list.

Water/fighting works better if the pokemon have good speed and attack stat like Urshifu-R-P. Yeah it can be good in pve like almost every single pokemon but lacking of speed, priority moves and weakness to psychic and electric basically made it ZU currently

Oranguru prolly could’ve been out of the list. If you’re looking at it from a competitive standpoint, having an ability that’s only good for doubles is great (most truly competitive playlists are doubles - vgc included), and honestly, “having a pokemon thats only good for 5 turns” isn’t a minus. Trickroom teams are built knowing that.
Yes, mons are seemed good in playthrough mostly. However in Competitive, unless you are playing in RU or below, Pokemons in this list will not be viable.
Haven’t watched it yet, but the thumbnail made me sad. I used Oranguru on my mono-Normal playthrough of Shield, and it was really useful there (it acted as a Fighting counter, as well as Unfezant). Granted, I don’t play competitively, but it still made me sad. xD
Fun fact: Unown isn't actually the weakest Psychic type. It's the weakest fully evolved psychic type, and as we all know, this series only includes fully evolved pokémon (otherwise Magikarp would be #1 on the water list), meaning Cosmog is disqualified.
Jynx? Exeggutor? Bruxish? Oranguru's Doubles Utility with Trick Room + Instruct is crazy, which lets you get two Torkoal Eruptions in a row or even two Hatterene Expanding Forces. Ally Switch and After You give you extra options.

The thing is, he talked kinda bullshit about it. He talked about offense, but not defense which makes Chimecho literally the best on this list. It has recover, heal bell and healing wish as well as dozens of other support moves.

The problem is the its outclassed Fighting Type wise by Hitmontop and most water type pokemon with swift swim as an Ability.
