No , no...People literally drive faster in the rain because THEY ARE FUCKING STUPID!! There is no way of preventing accidents like this from happening because stupidity overrules common sense with millions of drivers. It's really not that difficult to grasp how to drive a vehicle safely. It really isnt. In fact it is one of the easiest things to do as a human being because it's something that we have 100% control of if mechanically sound of course. No respect for themselves or others.

I know that they put up the plastic posts(?) all up and down the 67, but at some point I think they need to install/extend the "Jersey" barriers (like they have to divide the highway on the "hilly" section north of Lakeside). I think that would play a large part in reducing these dangerous crossover crashes.

The problem isn't specific to CA. Slowing down isn't always a good idea, especially if it means you'll be traveling 10mph+ slower than the traffic immediately around you. A good driver pays attention and adapts. A bad driver recites rigid rules to all who will listen, gripes when others ignore his rules, doesn't give her full, undivided attention to driving, and blames everybody else when bad things happen to him.

Tragic. As a UPS driver, we stay accident free (for the most part) by slowing down and increasing our following distance. Please allow 4 to 6 seconds following distance at speeds less than 30 mph and 6-8 seconds following distance over 30 mph. Better to get there later and safe than never at all. Please, slow down and increase your following distance. Also, never be the first into an intersection! Please! Look left, right, left before entering an intersection. And always count 1,2,3 before starting up at an intersection and entering it. Yeah, you might get a tap of the horn from someone behind you. But your life and the lives of those in your car matter. Just remember… Somebody is going to blow through that red light today. Don’t let them take yours or your loved ones’ life. My prayers for the woman who passed away and for her family’s peace and comfort.

I have to say with a smile; this is the best breaking news team I've ever HEARD. Keep it simple, to the point and just the facts, no personal thoughts. I like on the air, your staff asks the name, spelling the last name, title and/or company person is from. Witnesses seem very willing to tell the camera what they saw and heard. Everyone seems calm and professional. I'm sure your team is stereotyping to pick out the best people. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PROFILING AND STEREOTYPING! We did it when I worked for the CA state parks. We tried to keep the loud, obnoxious potential drunks out; keeping the environment peaceful for families and others, so they can walk away with a good experience.

My thoughts a heartfelt prayers to the young woman's family.
Prayers to the injured & burned victim, may he fully recover with no scars, physical or emotional. Prayyers of mental healing for all the victims and first responders, not an easy thing to see and you never get over it or used to it.
To the other drivers, do not hold yourself to blame. Unfortunately a young woman thought she was immortal and set into motion something completely out of anyone's hands to change. She paid the ultimate price for her decisions and sent her family on a pathway they never wanted to ever traverse.
I pray that those immortal youth see this and know, she also thought it could never happen to her...only to "the other guy" never realizing try at to every one else...she IS...WAS the "other guy".
Be safe, save your family and all others from the pain/guilt she has forever burdened them with.

Yesterday, Sunday in the UK there seemed to be endless idiots ripping up the local through road in both cars and on bikes, many not them illegally ridden off-road bikes. All three in the pick up were seriously injured from bouncing off the steering wheel and dash board (they were doing about 65 when they hit). Not pretty, so i do urge you to go to a speed shop and get some good belts. Metal dashboards are not very forgiving. Some people don't understand hydroplaning. U can't speed on a rainy high way or road. The tires lose traction, and u can lose your life I live in Danbury, Ct. Black ice, in the winter, gas the same effect. No traction! Speed kills. Slow down! Life is short enough, instead of going to the store, u go to the morgue. Blessings and prayers to the families and the cops and firemen.

It's easy to be mad at the speeding driver. What we're really saying is I wish this never happened. Blaming the driver seems to make it easier to accept. But we've all driven to fast and stupid at one time or another. Occasionally one pays the price. And it's tragic and life changing for so many. Being harsh and judgmental helps no one.

I would get new tires and still the same issue, even when driving slowly. One time it spun me out on the highway and left me facing the opposite direction. Just down the hill from there is Mina de Oro Rd. A couple years ago I was the first one on the scene of a single vehicle fatal crash. The weather was clear and sunny and the roads were dry and yet the driver went off the edge of the road. He took out the stop sign at that intersection on his way off the road. I found the driver and his truck in 2 different places. The way his neck was bent I knew he was gone but a few people who stopped insisted on doing CPR. Paramedics pronounced him dead the moment they got to him. My brother had a property on the west side of Ramona and I was going there frequently that summer to help him tidy the place up. Most of the people who use that road have proper respect for it but as we see it only takes one person without the proper respect to make a real mess

The only way to stop people from doing stupid things is to have the vehicle control the speed and following distance. Many heavy trucks have systems to try to maintain a safe distance. Some beep to warn the driver and drivers cover the speaker with something so they don't hear it. Some vehicles have adaptive cruise control that slows them down when they follow too close. Many drivers get around it by not using cruise control.
