What if the "suspect" decided to kick off? Should have cuffed the right hand first, as it is usually the stronger hand. Knuckles should be touching each other, and should have started cuffing by having the cuffs in right hand, using the left hand to grab the four fingers of suspects right hand, which would give more control of the suspect in case he/she kicks off. This right here is very, very easy example of effecting arrest..
