    I bought one of these last month and I was initially annoyed when video output through Thunderbolt did not work. However, after updating everything (Windows, firmware, Nvidia drivers, Synapse), everything works perfectly now. I love my Razer now. Honestly, 3070 Ti was just fine last generation, but with these new 4nm graphics chips, it's so much quieter now. There's finally a great gaming laptop that isn't a sweaty mess when it comes to everything else. I still think a MacBook Pro 16" is a better laptop for most people and is actually cheaper, but for those who want to game, the Razer 16 is the one to get, and if you look at the price to performance ratio, I think the 4080 model is the best bang for the buck.

      You make some great points and I agree on the MacBook Pro front, I have a m1max 16" and its an amazing machine as long as you don't want to game! for everyday computing and work it is amazing.

    It's worth it. They basically fixed all the real problems with the blade: overheating, speakers, and throttling.
    I got the $4,000 blade last year and I have experienced these problems personally.
    I am a little sad and I felt the proverbial punch in the gut of buyers remorse, but my machine is fine for everything I need to do and still performs great.
    It just seems like the blade took a huge jump in performance this year.
    The new blade is a great purchase and the model you have is priced well for a premium gaming laptop.

    I like Razer design. Clean, minimalist, the real pro vibe without showmanship. I am happy it's thicker to get more performance which is more important for long term use. If I were forced to find a con, I'd say the lack of numpad in a large chassis, the lack of secondary function backlit (in UK). And of course price. (For broke asses like me, Asus is still a sweet spot)
    But hey we can hope for black Friday lol

      I personally wouldn't have bought it if it did have a numpad because that would have meant the keyboard is off to the side and the speakers would probably be rear firing. Do not like that.

    Solid review. I have the 4090 version with mini LED. It's a beast and achieved over 32K in Cinabench R23 with an undervolt and overclock. I obviously won't be pushing the laptop that hard all the time and enjoy just keeping it in balanced mode with the fans at max when gaming. I am disappointed in the fact that it doesn't have a built in ethernet port. I can say that I have seen games kick the CPU up to 100C which I also don't like, which is why I undervolted a bit to keep temps under control.

    • @MashITTech
      @MashITTech  Рік тому +2

      wow you have hit 32k? what UV are you using? I am at -0.125 and managed almost 31k. I am not overclocking, just undervolting I may try and push the cores some more but as we are wattage limited I don't think it will improve things much. Yes, the ethernet was my only real gripe which is actually pretty good if only 1 thing annoys me. And yes I get the odd spike to 100c on default settings but its less with my undervolt. I am half way through my deep dive video where I am recording all my tweaking of the CPU, hopefully that will be out next week

    • @kennethdawe9984
      @kennethdawe9984 Рік тому +2

      @@MashITTech I'm using Intel XTU and have the P cores undervolted to -.150V, Cache undervolted at -.095V, and the E Cores are undervolted to -.100V. I then cranked all the dials on Synapse in the overclock section to the max and let Cinebench rip. It was just 1 run and not a continues 10 minutes, but my exact score was 32,539. I was blown away by that. Looking forward to your deep dive video!

    I bought the 15" Razer Advance model with the NVIDIA 3080 when it came out. It has been a great laptop, and never let me down, even when I hit the key hard to kill that last crystal clear monster. So I am on the waiting list for the new 16" 4090. As Grumpy said, it is pricey, and the heating issue is troubling. But I have used a cooling pad on the one I have now with no problems.

    And no, you are not crazy! -- You got what you felt is the right laptop for you, so all power to you!
    I do have the M1 Max and the Razer Blade 15 OLEd [2022], and I find myself using the Razer blade more and more, just because of the 3D work I do, where it is better with video card that has cuda cores.
    The 2023 Razer blade and the 2024 [since they are almost the same], are great machines, but I think I'm sticking to my Razer Blade 15 Oled, for another few years, maybe a couple more before changing, since it is still meeting the needs I have, and what I through at it in terms of 3D work, or even video games from time to time!
    Great breakdown!

    Nice review! I am going to replace my M1 Max macbook pro with this unit. More versatile and that CPU is pretty astounding. Only reason I liked the mac was the audio, but it looks like Razer's much better this year (not the same level as Mac, but much improved in that area) so this becomes a solid choice

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England Рік тому +5

      Yes, Razer is the Apple of Windows and a good choice if you are moving OS because you need more versatility.

    • @mikerahl123
      @mikerahl123 Рік тому +3

      @@andyH_England Exactly. I find I'm constantly irritated with Mac because, I can do almost anything I want, if I want to jump through hoops. I can run the VMs I want for various studies I'm doing, but either I deal with the performance hit of the translation layer, or I hit application issues, for example. Obviously, gaming is possible, but far from ideal on the Mac (needing multiple subscriptions for most of the games). Only real reason I have it still is for facetime and such, but iPads do that role just fine and I have an ipad pro already, so the mac just becomes redundant. And 5-5.5 hours battery life is actually quite decent. I'm generally close to a plug and even at a coffee shop, a couple of hours is fine for my needs, so the razer is a solid choice this year. And I always loved their designs.

    I am now selling my Zephyrus G15 and ordering this machine ! Thank you for the review. Do you think it’s worth the extra $400 to order 4070 over the 4060 ? I currently have a 3060 in the g15 and am happy with its performance so I’m having a tough time choosing 4060 or 4070 variant.

    • @mbvglider
      @mbvglider Рік тому +1

      Everybody clowns on the 4070 this year but it's actually a worthwhile upgrade from the 4060. According to UserBenchmark numbers, it seems like 4070 is 16% faster than the 4060, and considering the 11% price difference, that means it's worth it. The main issue is that going from 4070 to 4080 is a 43% performance difference for a 20% price difference, so there's an obvious performance gap there. Just as long as you understand that there are two tiers of performance improvement from 4070 to 4080, whereas there is one tier of performance improvement from 4060 to 4070, I think the 4070 is a good buy.

    • @MashITTech

      the 4070 is a bit of a rubbish option. My advice would be get the 4060 or save the extra for the 4080! 4070 isn't much better than 4060. 4060 is a nice boost over 3060 too so you should be happy with even that card :)

    horrible pricing as always for Razer. You're paying 900 to 1k more for a product that performs just like the other brands with the same specs

      I don't mind no number pads on 15/16" but there is no excuse for it on the 17/18" at least Alienware have brought it back on the m18 this year

    ethernet port?
    are you serious?
    wifi 6e is faster.

      Yes! Most gamers will still prefer Ethernet. 6e may be theoretically faster but Ethernet is more stable with less packet drop
