My daughter is 9 months old and i have never tried giving her foods in big sizes, only purees all the time. I am always scared she would choke :-/ looking at this video makes me realized i have been doing it wrong with food time for my little Sofie (first time mom and every first time my baby experienced is also first time for me). I have been following your site since the day i got pregnant. You helped me a lot! Thank you.
Babysofie_ AT I am with you hun! I have been doing exactly the same with my 9months boy! At the children centre they gave him biscuits and bread and I honestly almost had a faint or an heart attack!!! But straight after they said that he liked, he did not chock and he even asked for more! 😱😍
My daughter is 7 months and I'm still rather scared of her choking. I offer her veggie sticks around twice a week but she still gags a lot on those. Thats why i focus on mushier textures most of the time: What I personally find easiest for the very beginning is banana, avocado, very ripe pear, stripes of omelette, cooked red lentils rolled into balls, asparagus. Those foods are super tender and she loved the flavor too. Especially avocado! She loves avocado. With other vegetables like sweet potato, carrots and so on, she still has difficulty dealing with the chunks in her mouth as she doesnt chew properly yet, even if i cook them tender. Thus, i turn these into purees before offering on a preloaded spoon. She doesn't like spoons too much, though, mostly throws them around 😅.if i should pick a first food, I guess I would start with banana. Its so easy to chew and its sweet and yummy. On another note, I was very surprised to see cheese in the list though. Wouldn't give cheese to a baby younger than a year. Its really salty and it has too much protein... Question for you guys: what are your experiences with meat? A lot of videos suggest to cook strips of faty meat (chicken, beef) and feed it to the baby, but isnt that really difficult to eat? I gave her ground chicken rolled into little balls once, but didn't feel comfortable giving her whole strips. When did you start that?
The vegetables must be cooked until very soft for the baby and the baby must be under supervision through the eating period, water should be given to the baby at intervals during eating.
nopes they cannot. that's why babies have a gag reflex. Foods are cooked or steamed so that it's soft enough to mash in their mouths. most importantly you don't leave baby to eat unsupervised
You don't leave them unsupervised, agree 100% on that part of your post. However, babies do very well on foods in their natural state. Baby led weaning does not have an increased choke risk. "Food under one is just for fun". They get most of their nutrition from milk feedings, solid food is for the tasting and sensory experience.
This is great! Thanks for sharing! Will be weaning my youngest in couple of months I will most likely share it in my channel too 😃👍🏻 I haven't done it with my first one so will be a first time for me!
My son had 8 teeth by 9 months and at 10 months he was playing with an apple that I was going to give him after his meal. I see that he puts it in his mouth and takes a big bite that could most like choke him. But I see that this baby doesn’t have many teeth. Giving my son a whole meatball most likely he will put it all in his mouth. For me it works best to cut the pieces myself and put it in front of him.
I see the logic of larger pieces, baby will hold on to it and will just gnaw on, small bits will be taken in and tasted that way....smaller pieces with toothless babies is a choking hazard. I realize it too late, my baby is 11 months and on chunky purees, he's not interested in new flavors and throws up real bad if any larger chunk is in puree. He has 4 teeth now and has not learnt how to chew with gums...if anyone can offer advice, I'd really appreciate that.
My 8month daughter has 8 teeth already. I don’t give her big chunks of food cause she tries to put them all in her mouth and gag on them. I still cut them up in small pieces to avoid choking hazard
I think everyone gives babys dry ceral once they start eatting solids its easy convenient and babys generally like it they just suck on it and make it all mushy its not the healthiest though
This is such a frustrating video and is actually dangerous. It doesn’t show the gagging a baby makes when they initially try solid foods, it doesn’t show the normal reflex of a baby spitting food back out. It is a false image, pretending that BLW is a simple process when it is not.
This is a video for food ideas when trying baby led weening people should be able to resurch things outside of food ideas this baby already got passed the gaging stage before doing this video and there's no real reason to say your baby may gag this is harder then it looks when you should already know the risks and process before even thinking about specific Foods to feed to them
Baby will choke if she puts small bits in her mouth, her gums are strong enough to mush up small bits...hence large pieces work better with toothless babies.
Do some research before you criticize parents. This is how baby led weaning is done, and there is no increased choking hazard. They actually do BETTER and have a lower choking risk as toddlers because they know how to handle food. Pediatricians are fine with this method.
Dude cutting foods up to small makes them likely to be inhaled if they have to chew on it first they know to swallow they can't feasibly get the entire piece of meatball or broccoli in their mouth without chewing it

How cute is this!? Can't wait until my girl is six months and ready to try !

We actually cook them on the firmer side so that baby doesn’t accidentally take too big of bite. Of course though we are always right there
I love both babies reactions to the foods more than the information the video offered lol. Such little cuties.
Aww he is such a cute baby! Love love love!
So darn cute. I need to make another baby now
I love the way the kid ate the strawberry! So cuteee 🥰

Really cute and innovative
What a great video! My daughter eats like this. She’s 10 months old and been eating since 3 months. Banana, avocado, plum are also good.
Your baby is so cute!! Thanks for this, it's exactly what I was searching for!!!

Awesome thank you!!!

TRADUCIR VIDEOS PLESE!
Dreading cleaning all that mashed food up 😩
Aint that baby too small for eating all those things?

Put some common sense video or rather not at all.
Choking hazard
What if he chokes???? Thats a very large size of food for a baby!!!! 😡

This video is making me anxious... Please cut up her food!!
Smaller pieces are a choking hazard

the food is too big,the baby could die by eating it
.... babies can choke on purees too you know. Please read up on baby led weaning.
El Guilgo If you let them try for their own it is ok.
