Thanks to your 100 foods list my toddler eats just about anything I serve him. We loved trying new foods each week for about 6 months and he tried 100 new foods before 1. Today he’s 21 months old and still likes to try new things 😁🧒🏼 Thank you 🤩

I can cry, I needed this. Our son will be 9 months tomorrow and has been eating strictly purées and formula. I keep thinking like “okay the doctor said by 12 months he’s done with formula” I’ve been nervous about introducing food for him to hold, just being nervous about choking. But I love the idea of letting him try a new food everyday. Then start putting meals together. This is exactly the motivation and inspiration I needed. 🫶🏾
You got this! I teach a 5 Step Feeding Framework where we do 5 new foods each week. It's safe and will help your baby get to most of their nutrition coming from food by 12m. Omg me too ive always loved the idea of my baby eating the food we are but omg ive been stressinggg for days i really dont know where to start with my almost 6 months old baby i dont want to be stuck on purees for ages, but then again i really don’t want her to choke, honestly the most stressful part of having a baby.
I never would have thought of avocado but thanks to my SIL I began feeding it to all of our babies. Ages 7 down to 3. They all loved it and it's a very popular food in our home today. Super healthy? Very satiating. Inexpensive. We just had our 5th baby. She has 2 months to go before 1st foods and I'm excited to introduce her to this method. It's much easier than the method I learned years ago.
I did blw with my now 4 year old and I just found you, now that I'm getting ready to feed my almost 6 month old. Boy do I wish I saw your videos 4 years ago 😅 this will be easier this time!
I tried the pinkly size strips of avocado at 6 months and my baby choked. It was such a scary experience. I don’t think I can try the strips until she is a little older.
We start with meats (typically lamb first, then beef) and dark leafy vegetables, then move onto allergens and fats like avocado, with common fruits like bananas being the last thing we introduce. Baby's first foods at 6 months should be iron rich.
I have same issue 😢 today I gave her sweet potato for first time, and I swear every time she started gagging I am panicking and getting heart attack , Its so scary
I totally understand the nervousness when you're starting out. It's important to note that as long as foods are prepared safely in a safe feeding environment, the risk of choking with BLW is no greater than the risk with purees. You can also trial out letting your baby feed herself with the spoon and purees to get in some self-feeding practice! I offer a free 1 hour video training at babyledweaning.co (or there are a bunch more videos on my page 😊) to help build your confidence.
Don't worry dear...i started finger food from day 1 of weaning... Yes, my baby was gagging, but i was sitting beside him to manage if anything wrong happens and he is 9 months plus now... He is being fed by babysitter as I'm working mom... But skipped the pureed form all together
You’re not alone, I’m the same by baby is about to turn 7 months and she’s been eating purées for about a month and a half! I’m also scared but I see my baby’s interest in the food I’m eating, so I think I have to try! Good luck to you!
I've been so afraid to start giving my baby foods, and had no idea where to start. Every time I thought of a food I asked myself how the heck I was supposed to make that safe for the baby. I feel like you just helped me a huge amount to get started. Ty!
This list is amazing! And I love the idea of doing allergens on Fridays and the weekends. Not sure how new it is but I’ve read new allergen guidelines and heard from a pediatric allergist that they should be introduced in purées only to ensure they digest the food and not just play with it. Apparently skin contact without digestion can cause your body to believe it’s not safe to eat and then an allergy develops. To be safe we’ve been doing purées but so focused on allergens I’m overwhelmed planning other foods for baby. So this is fantastic!! Can’t wait to check out the course!
How we know our baby eligible to start eating food ?? Just age 6 month beginning or when he able to sit ?? Or when he get saliva in mouth or anything else ??
Can someone just clarify for me please - do you just start one random day (when they’re ready) and give the baby a piece of avocado for e.g, with the baby never having had anything in their mouth other than milk before this? Or do you start with some purées before? I’m really confused and just want a straight up plan telling me what to do! 🙈 if it’s just straight in with solids, then this video is super helpful!
There are 3 acceptable methods (check out Emma Hubbard) 1) starting with purees, 2) giving pieces of food like this, so the baby can pick it up & eat themselves, 3) a combo of the 2.
Can I have the link to the seminar please? My baby is 7 months old and I am so glad I Found your channel on UA-cam. Another subscriber you've got. Thanks

FTM here, I’m getting a little lost on lingo. I have a 4+ month old and doc said introduce foods. She’s been on BM so is this for her. I keep reading first solid foods and then I see cereals and purées. Is this BLW a practice for her? Or should I start with something else?
I have been giving my 5 month old banana and avocado puree every day for a couple of days but I have noticed she has been constipated for last 2 days so i just stopped it. I am also giving her Gerber rice/ oat cereal sometimes. Not sure if i am giving right quantity or if it was too much for her. She is throwing up a little milk since yesterday.
Thank you for this! I still don’t entirely understand how a toothless infant eats some of those spears! And maybe could you do a video (gonna search for one now) that shows a normal gag response. Many thanks!
👀 We may have something coming for you soon! In the meantime, you can also check out my Instagram for posts with the cover "Beware: Gagging Video" to look at videos of babies gagging
Gums are really strong! You'll be surprised how much baby can eat with no teeth. My son was 10 months before any teeth and was already a pro at lots of finger foods by then.
So our baby is now 19 months and he is a champion eater! It was really hard for me getting through those gagging periods, and not just watching him but trying to stick with it with grandparents around was really challenging! But I’m so glad we did. :)
I first follow with 3 day pattern means giving same food for 3 days now landed at your video can i start with your 10 best foods ? he is 6 + 10 days thanks
Ok so my LO is 7 months and isn’t interested in BLW…she will grab anything I put in front of her but when it’s feeding time she just stares at the food. I then will give it to her myself and once she’s tasted it she is not a fan of the texture. I’m tempted to just do the purée but I don’t want to complicate things and have her struggle when it’s time to switch into BLW. I was thinking to just give her purée snd see if the issue is the food or texture but not sure.
glad you are learning about BLW. Def wait until baby is 6m + showing other signs of readiness to eat before beginning anything except infant milk please!
You can skip purees if you'd like. I teach a "Purees for a Few Days" method to bridge from infant milk to soft solids - you can learn more in my free online video workshop BABY-LED WEANING FOR BEGINNERS & sign up is at babyledweaning.co
I though meat wasn't good to give unless it's already shredded and mashed? Isn't it hard on there stomach when there swallowing it without being chewed good?
Absolute nonsense. Human stomach acid is pH 1.5. Similar to vultures and obligate carnivores. Animal protein will be broke. Down and completely absorbed. We started our girl on ribeye steak and bone marrow at 5 months old. She’s WAY more developed than any other babies in our social circle and play groups.
My original 100 FIRST FOODS list has 20 protein foods and 10 of them are plant based foods. The other 80ish are mostly plant foods too and you can grab that list on my free video workshop BABY-LED WEANING FOR BEGINNERS - registration is at babyledweaning.co 💕
My 8 mo baby choked on a banana. Breathing stopped for a few seconds, his face got red and scared, and then thankfully, started crying. His airway wasn't completely blocked at that second. What do you do if your baby takes huge bites?? He has two teeth.
I gave my baby whole milk plain yogurt and she had a bad diaper rash so I stopped. Does this mean she has an allergy to cow milk? She’s breastfed and on a hypoallergenic formula but I’m not dairy free. When do I reintroduce the yogurt?
Hello! When can you start BLW? My baby is already 7 months and has been introduced to purée vegetables and fruits but only prefers the vegetables. My other question is if my babies teeth is starting to come out and 99% gums is BLW still okay to attempt? Thank you for the video :)
Hey, I introduced BLW when my son was 5 months old, but he only started to get really interested at 7 months. Now at 8 months he is fully ready. So I think you can always try and see whatever works and what your child is comfortable with or maybe try BLW but always have a puree on the side just in case.
Perfect video to help us understand better…thank u My baby just completed 5 months ..but she is not sitting yet..so does this mean I need to wait for her to sit to start BLW?
Thank you for watching! I would recommend waiting until your baby is at least 6 months + able to sit relatively unassisted because those muscles are also necessary to facilitate a safe swallow 😊
My now 5 month old got the pediatrician ok to start solids. She tested her neck/head strength and baby passed. Baby is also very interested in people food so we have started baby cereals and a bit of avacado but I am taking it real slow. She smashes the avocado up and tries to taste it. I also smear some on her lips and she tastes it too.
I recommend removing most skins unless it's very soft for babies. But I would recommend washing produce being cutting it even if you aren't serving the skin to prevent any potentially harmful bacteria from transferring to the flesh of the produce when you cut through it 😊
My worry is that if it’s a small piece of food like a blueberry isn’t there a chance they could swallow it and choke? I also get worried about them being able to bite into an avocado piece and choking as well ughh the panic I’ve been having my baby use carrot sticks and big pieces melons but he now has two bottom teeth and I’m terrified he’ll bite a small enough piece off and choke
My baby is going to be 5m soon. She still doesn’t sit on her own or roll over. But she is extremely interested in my food. She leans on me, gets both her hands to grab food from hand, opens her mouth. I’m feeding her purées twice a day because milk just isn’t keeping her full sometimes. From when can I start giving pieces like this instead of purées?
You do not need to wait 3-5 days between new foods and it is perfectly safe to offer 1 new food per day (or more) - I just don't do multiple allergenic foods for the first time on the same day.
My baby is 3yr 4months now, i had always fed him with hand. So he dont have habit of eating with his own hand and also he holds his food in his mouth for like 30 to 45 mins. Please help
Stop being a vegetarian. You’re starving your child of Carnitine, creatine, omega 3, DHA/EPA, fat soluble vitamins, b12, Heme Iron, zinc, proline, glycine and bioavailable protein. Give your baby bone marrow and ribeye steak.
Nope, Its just as likely that a spoon fed baby will choke as blw baby. What a baby will do is gag which is totally normal and healthy for babies to do and Katie has plenty of videos on what gagging looks like and what you should (or shouldn't) do when it happens.
At 6 months your baby is still getting the majority of their nutrition from breastmilk/formula while they're learning how to self-feed. I recommend offering iron-rich food regularly and a variety of foods 💕
It's recommended to wait until your baby is around 6 months (or 6 months adjusted if born prematurely) + showing the other reliable signs of readiness to feed. I also have a free video training called BLW for Beginners if you have other questions! You can sign up at babyledweaning.co
The pediatrician said my son has a cows milk protein allergy and we have been mixing 50% hypoallergenic formula with 50% regular formula since we can't find hypoallergenic formula anymore. She told us not to start dairy until one, is there still a benefit to introducing it when he is ready for solids or should we wait till 1 ?
Hi I am just beginning to feed my baby with formula. Have tried a couple of them and she gets allergic reaction. Just want to know how you knew your babies have cow milk allergy .. And if they ever outgrew it Thanks
@IfesinachiUdeji hi, I first noticed blood in his stool and he would get upset when being fed but he was also hungry. I don't know if this was related but he also started getting eczema around the same time. Thankfully he eventually did outgrow it. Usually the pediatrician will tell you to switch to hypoallergenic formula for a while to see if there is any improvement and then slowly go back to regular formula. Good luck, I hope your baby outgrows it soon.
@karenma3211 Thanks 😊. My baby gets hives whenever I feed her formula. She becomes very uncomfortable, scratches her neck, and the whole place gets raised and reddish. She had severe excema before now, but we fought it and nipped it in the bud 😉. I was advised to stop taking cow milk myself then bc I was breastfeeding. And her skin has improved since I switched to Soya milk.. though I have also got a cream that helps, I dont know if it was the milk I stopped taking or the cream doing the job, but I'm glad her skin is fine now. Anyway, it happened 😊. Thanks for your response once more. I needed to hear that she would outgrow it if it was an allergy. Will be at the doctors today to discuss this with them as she will be 6 months two days from now.
How did the half and half go? My daughter is also Cow milk protein intolerant. Her allergies are severe. She is currently taking Similac Alimentum. Getting it is so tough. If 50% hypoallergenic and 50% Lactose free formula will work, I am willing to try.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but..I measured your adult pinky finger with my adult pinky finger and if your comment is really the size of your adult pinky finger then you have an adult pinky finger thats is on the smaller side.
How old your baby? After 1 yrs old than give the baby plan / sweet yogurt, just a little ,.also can give the baby food with taste like salt, sweet, sour ,let it they try .with small amount
My 9 month old gets itchy and a rash from dairy as well. So what I've been doing is slowly introducing a little bit of dairy mixed into his food so that his body can learn to fight it. He still gets itchy but I know it's better to continue building his immunity up for it. I do this by adding little bit of cheese to fritters/meatballs, yoghurt or milk to oats, etc. Bit by bit so bub doesn't get shocked and can build it up :) And I would give them sweet yoghurt or salt. Too young for that and they'll become accustomed to it. Just stick to plain yoghurt or even Greek which is healthier and no salt, just seasoning if you wish like herbs and spices :) much better for them xx

Some families love the air fryer....tbh extra fat is good for infants' still developing brain so regular frying works great too!

What are your protein options for a vegetarian family?
My original 100 FIRST FOODS list has 20 protein foods and 10 of them are plant based foods. The other 80ish are mostly plant foods too and you can grab that list on my free video workshop BABY-LED WEANING FOR BEGINNERS - registration is at babyledweaning.co 💕
@@babyledweaningThank you so much!! I’ll check that out!
But babies do not produce ptyalin until their molars come in, so any grains are a no go. I'm surprised so many people push this.
At how many months do you start this. I need to try blw with my current baby.
When your baby is 6m + showing the other reliable signs of readiness to eat 💕
Do I offer this one food only once a day or can I do something for breakfast and then again for dinner?
My child eats Nestle cerelac junior Rice Porridge. This recipe, which contains no additives, no sugar, all natural ingredients, is a great help to me.
Is it okay to give avocado to baby even if it has lots of "hair" inside?
No it sounds like this advocado is not good
Perfect video to help us understand better…thank u
My baby just completed 5 months ..but she is not sitting yet..so does this mean I need to wait for her to sit to start BLW?
Thank you for watching! I would recommend waiting until your baby is at least 6 months + able to sit relatively unassisted because those muscles are also necessary to facilitate a safe swallow 😊
My now 5 month old got the pediatrician ok to start solids. She tested her neck/head strength and baby passed. Baby is also very interested in people food so we have started baby cereals and a bit of avacado but I am taking it real slow. She smashes the avocado up and tries to taste it. I also smear some on her lips and she tastes it too.
my husband and I keep the skin on most of your feed, is there a way to safely serve baby with the skin on?
I recommend removing most skins unless it's very soft for babies. But I would recommend washing produce being cutting it even if you aren't serving the skin to prevent any potentially harmful bacteria from transferring to the flesh of the produce when you cut through it 😊
Meet without salt?
My worry is that if it’s a small piece of food like a blueberry isn’t there a chance they could swallow it and choke? I also get worried about them being able to bite into an avocado piece and choking as well ughh the panic
I’ve been having my baby use carrot sticks and big pieces melons but he now has two bottom teeth and I’m terrified he’ll bite a small enough piece off and choke
Hey please assist how old are we giving the strips of food is it at 6 months?
6 months and up as long as they are showing signs of readiness for BLW. Definitely make sure they are first before doing so.
I think when we introduce solid food to a baby, it should be in the form of puree, not in stripes
From when can I start giving pieces like this instead of purées?
thank you for idia baby food. Normally, my baby eats soft food like CERELAC JUNIOR PORRIDGE Chicken .am ready star for to Baby-Led Weaning
I am just wondering so, each day we can give new food or wait a week??
You do not need to wait 3-5 days between new foods and it is perfectly safe to offer 1 new food per day (or more) - I just don't do multiple allergenic foods for the first time on the same day.
My baby is 3yr 4months now, i had always fed him with hand. So he dont have habit of eating with his own hand and also he holds his food in his mouth for like 30 to 45 mins. Please help
I am going throught the same situation right now. Worried and stressed how to let him eat himself. Did anything help you in anyway? Please let me know
My baby have eczema. Can I give her fruits and yogurt already? She is 6 months
Thanks for your video. Please share the spices you are using. Thanks again
How did you cook the chicken
What can substitute meat and egg with being a vegetarian with a no egg diet?
Stop being a vegetarian. You’re starving your child of Carnitine, creatine, omega 3, DHA/EPA, fat soluble vitamins, b12, Heme Iron, zinc, proline, glycine and bioavailable protein. Give your baby bone marrow and ribeye steak.
Pardon the ignorance but won't the baby choke? I have a 5 month old and was given the go signal to start solids and I want to try blw
Nope, Its just as likely that a spoon fed baby will choke as blw baby. What a baby will do is gag which is totally normal and healthy for babies to do and Katie has plenty of videos on what gagging looks like and what you should (or shouldn't) do when it happens.
She says not to start BLW until 6 months
when you start do you give them normal food like this and still give them baby food to make sure they r geting all nuterience?
At 6 months your baby is still getting the majority of their nutrition from breastmilk/formula while they're learning how to self-feed. I recommend offering iron-rich food regularly and a variety of foods 💕
How early can I start this ?
Is 5 months ok ?
It's recommended to wait until your baby is around 6 months (or 6 months adjusted if born prematurely) + showing the other reliable signs of readiness to feed. I also have a free video training called BLW for Beginners if you have other questions! You can sign up at babyledweaning.co
For 5 month old baby , it should be in the form of puree
The pediatrician said my son has a cows milk protein allergy and we have been mixing 50% hypoallergenic formula with 50% regular formula since we can't find hypoallergenic formula anymore. She told us not to start dairy until one, is there still a benefit to introducing it when he is ready for solids or should we wait till 1 ?
I also have cows milk protein allergy. I feed my baby half breast milk and then a goats milk formula - called Holle. From Europe.
Hi
I am just beginning to feed my baby with formula. Have tried a couple of them and she gets allergic reaction.
Just want to know how you knew your babies have cow milk allergy ..
And if they ever outgrew it
Thanks
This comment is as long as my adult pinky finger.
Hey sometimes you gotta say things 20 times til anyone actually listens 😭😭
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but..I measured your adult pinky finger with my adult pinky finger and if your comment is really the size of your adult pinky finger then you have an adult pinky finger thats is on the smaller side.
My baby today 6 month. But she doesn’t havr teeth, so can i give avocado like this??? Pls replay😊
If your baby is showing the other reliable signs of readiness to eat, yes! Babies don’t need teeth to start solid foods 💕
i breast feed my baby and i cut dairy out of my diet because he was getting a dairy rash. should i still try and introduce him to the yogurt?
How old your baby?
After 1 yrs old than give the baby plan / sweet yogurt, just a little ,.also can give the baby food with taste like salt, sweet, sour ,let it they try .with small amount
My 9 month old gets itchy and a rash from dairy as well.
So what I've been doing is slowly introducing a little bit of dairy mixed into his food so that his body can learn to fight it. He still gets itchy but I know it's better to continue building his immunity up for it.
I do this by adding little bit of cheese to fritters/meatballs, yoghurt or milk to oats, etc. Bit by bit so bub doesn't get shocked and can build it up :)
And I would give them sweet yoghurt or salt. Too young for that and they'll become accustomed to it. Just stick to plain yoghurt or even Greek which is healthier and no salt, just seasoning if you wish like herbs and spices :) much better for them xx
