New subbie and a pediatrician here. I really love how well researched and accurate your videos are, and how you link credible resources for your audience below.
Jadelightsword was it hard to become a pediatrician? That’s my dream career but I already have a baby, so I don’t know if I should even try pursuing it because it seems like too much to handle with a child as well :/
@@scraps_4500 You should pursue your dreams! It is definitely hard, you need 4 yrs of med school (assuming you've already met premed requirements in college, but if not, you may need a post bac program), and 3 yrs of residency. It is a lot of financial and time investment (avg 200k debt and 7 yrs training in the case of pediatrics). I don't have kids myself (yet) because of that, but I have had classmates who had babies in med school or residency. They had lots of family support to make that work. Other options to look into are PA school or pediatric NP. The training is shorter and less expensive, but you also make less at the other end of it, and I would argue the way of thinking is different. But the day to day work is very similar, so that's another route to consider. Depending on what state you live in though (assuming you live in USA here....), the laws that govern mid-levels are also different, so that's another factor to look into. Good luck!
How’s being a pediatrician going?!? My sister is a senior and really wants to be a pediatrician she is a bit overwhelmed with how long it will take to complete schooling I believe it’s 7 years? And also the debt part...
@@masonsadventures1692 yes, it's 4 years of med school and 3 years of residency. And then a fellowship if you want to subspecialize, which I didn't. And then I do have 6 figure debt.....but I'm on track to pay it off within 5 years, I love the content of my job, and it's nice to have a network of physician friends for life things that happen, you know? The only complaint I have about my actual job is that our healthcare system is pretty messed up and frustrating to deal with. Good luck to your sister!
Jadelightsword you get paid during residency? Yeah our healthcare system is not the best at all... hopefully it gets better soon! So even though u did rack that 6 figure debt .... it’s easy with your salary to pay that down fairly quickly but also live comfortably?
I completely agree 👍🏾 😊.. Thank you 😙 so much for this video... Had to go through a lot of useless videos to stumble on yours. I really hoping my baby likes some of these suggestions... She's so picky
What I love about your videos: they are super informative and you go straight to the point. Many other UA-camrs blab a lot and provide little useful information. Your videos are absolutely the best, especially for busy moms 😊
I’m not a mother yet, but I absolutely love watching you videos!!!!! I find your videos so educational and I’m now definitely going to have a similar parenting style to yours!!
Even though I’m still in school and don’t even know if I want to have kids, I know that if I did I would raise them montessori style. I love children with independence and I can’t see any negatives to this style.
I don’t know how other people feel about it and nothing against your beautiful face but, I would love to watch the babies eat while you talk. There is something about watching a child eat healthy food that nurtures the heart. Especially for those of us that have no grandchildren near or maybe they are grown. Or maybe those that are eagerly waiting for arrivals or this stage of life. With all that is ugly in the world this is surely a blessing to feed the soul. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and beautiful girls with us❣️❣️
I really appreciate your approach to this. So many doctors will scare moms into only giving their babies purées. We forget that they’re humans and they have tastebuds and are capable of eating too.
I’m a first time mom, and I can’t thank you enough for sharing your thoughts and ideas :) Your content is invaluable and I am extremely grateful that I’ve found your channel!
Montessori method seems daunting, but really it’s pretty accessible! And saves some transitions that can be frustrating for babies in the long run. So cool!
I simply love you! No, seriously. So grateful for this channel, God bless you and your family for your patience and hard work in sharing your knowledge in the best way. Discovering your channel has had an impact on me as a new mum and also on my 5 months old and hopefully future children. Started reading the first book about Montessori that you've shared and wow. Thanks for everything ❤️ Proud of you, your girls are so lucky to have you as a mum. Much love and respect from one busy parent, to another ❤️
Best! Absolutely the best video about baby led weaning. Makes great sense. My baby is 7 month in a few days. Wish I had seen it earlier. But never too late I guess. Thank you so much. Now moving onto the next video 😄
You're baby girl is too adorable! Thank you for all of your vlogs, very helpful and my baby loves all the activities you recommend. I can tell that her development has been progressing much faster since I have been following along with your videos! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your videos!
best video on BLW sooo farr my son is almost 7 months old and i had no idea what to do except purees i watched many BLW vidoes but nothing was clear but now i exactly know what to do thank you so muchhhh
This was so incredibly helpful! One of my biggest confusions in BLW was the progression in how to prep the food as they got older and you answered all my questions! This is my 3rd baby but the first I am BLW and it has already brought us so much joy! We are having so much fun. So far avocados and wheat toast have been our biggest hits! Can’t thank you enough for all of this info!
Thank you for this video. As a pediatrician I find the information to be through and practical. I have recommended your video to the new parents to watch if they are interested to do baby led weaning.
The kids I nanny for eat this way and I have loved it!! I never enjoyed spoon feeding babies, and seeing them eat what and how they want just feels so much more enjoyable for all involved. I started watching them when the girl was 10 months, now I’m expecting my first little girl myself and definitely want to do baby led weaning, but haven’t experienced trying it during months 6-9. Thanks for the video!
In my family the first food we introduce to our children is red beans. Once soft, we season and then cook it with garlic, onions, bell paper, tomatoes, cilantro, a little bit of tomato paste, and a little bit of salt. Once cooked, we blend it to a soupy consistency, then we give it to our babies, they looove it. Next time we blend a little bit of rice with the beans. Then next time we blend rice and meat with the beans, and so on. That’s for lunch. For breakfast we introduce them to fruits specially bananas.
@@tianacookies7927 well I find that when she was 7months I'd give her strawberry twice in the week and it treated her well...And even now that she is 13months she has fruits as a snack.
You are AMAZING! So informative and you explain things so well. And you have SUCH CUTE STUFF like the crinkle cutter. Wow wow wow. And the tiny glass cup from your other video! I love the recipes and the information in the links. Thank you!!
This very educational because I feel most led weeing food video's are strictly veggie and fruit and there's nothing wroung with that but my family were pretty adventurous eaters so I'm happy to see that there are more options out there
These girls are so cute! I'm really enjoying the videos. Can't do full set up at home and I'm not a stay at home parent but I've now put my son in a Montessori at home daycare and am trying to support his development at home as much as possible so these videos are very helpful.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us ❤️... Your Babies are so Beautiful... My 1yr old Daughter wants to start feeding herself now this is so helpful and makes me feel more comfortable on letting feed herself now... Have a great day.
I loved this video! My lil is 6 months on Tuesday and we've started our food journey. I just bought a crinkle cutter on amazon because of this video, great idea!
Love your video! It's really helpful to see how you actually cut the food. I've done babyled weaning with my older son and planning on doing it with my younger son as well. We live in the netherlands where they actually advice you to start introducing solids when your baby is 4 months old. So we started with single ingredient purees and porridge for month 4 to 5 and always giving them a spoon as well to hold. From about 6 months we introduce the foods to grab themselves. It's a bit of a mix, but worked really well with our first son :)
Fellow Dutchie here! I start at six months old with my baby. The 'consultatiebureau' advices to start between 4 and 6 months old but with breastfeeding it's better to start at 6 months according to the WHO (cb also advices this in their yellow breastfeeding 'groeigids') I'm still on the fence if I'll start with puree or pieces.
Thank you so much for this video. We have just learned we skipped the the finger length foods. This part is SO challenging, and thank you for you guidance. I love the way you presented this. Amazing Mama
I love love love this video! So informative and helps me feel more confident in what I can feed my baby girl. I love the baby weaning approach to foods. We tried avacado for the very first time a few days ago and I think today we will try a banana. Thank you so much.
Great video! We are planning on starting a family and want to go the Montessori route, like my sister did. Love learning from your channel for the near future.
Thanks a lot that i found your channel!! Our babies the same age. So we can follow you and your baby Mia🤗🤩 keep going. Waiting more videos about baby led weaning series
My baby is 5 months, I have been reading about baby lead weaning and watching your videos! (I also want to implement Montessori so your channel is perfect!) I just got my baby lead weaning cookbook in the mail a couple of days ago! After reading the baby lead weaning book 😊😊

Thank you for posting this series! I’m getting ready to start BLW with my daughter, and these videos have made it seem way less intimidating and have given me a big boost of confidence. Can’t wait to learn more!
Just wanna say a huge thank you to you Ashley! The banana with the stem was such a genius idea! Cz when I tried giving my baby the banana without it it was a total failure. But now he can hold very tightly onto the banana and he enjoys it so much! (Although he licks on the banana peel for majority of the time)😂

Your videos are chock full of information, which is awesome. You've cut out all the silence between sentences to maximize your content density, I get that. I also get that on UA-cam there's pause and rewind so it's not like we have to take notes or memorize information in real time. However I think you can use silence in an effective way to make the viewing/listening experience a little easier. Just a small suggestion. Keep up the great work!
thank you so much for the video, I have trying weaning with the baby and all info was not clear and made this juorney hard, but you kept it super easy and clear
I love your videos! I love all the information you share. It's so good. You answered all the questions I had and then some. I know this is months after you posted the video, but just cause I wanted to share. My LO is 1 week away from turning 6 months and we started her with carrot puree with breastmilk then a few days later avocado with breastmilk. But I forgot about your videos cause I first saw them last year, so i came across them again last week. So today I gave her a banana and did great! A little messy lol, but she enjoyed it, had fun and my 5 yr and 2 yr had fun watching her learn too. Thank you for the encouragement!!
Loved the video as usual!!! I didn’t do baby led weaning with my first but I would like to do with our next kid. I did start with avocados though, I smashed and spoon fed to my son. Loved the idea of cutting and letting them explore the food. I must say that after he was already eating more regular food I started actually searching for recipes and found some great ones that he started eating at around 9 months and has been loving it until today (26 months), one example is this oatmeal balls that he absolutely loves and eats all the time. I wish you had left the give away window open for longer. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to watch this video when it was posted 🙁 would have loved to have a chance to get that book. Still looking forward to the next video in the series!
this is so helpful and informative! I really want to do BLW and love your videos, but always felt I had no idea where to even start and what to make, but having this visual has been mind opening! thank you!

Hi. This is such a helpful video. My son will be 1 yo next week. I want to start blw now and till now we’ve done spoon feeding (not necessarily purées, but family food mashed and fed with a spoon). Is it possible to do blw at this age? If yes, how to go about it? Could you share any tips regarding the same? Thank you.
Thank you for such detail. And also I thank you for leaving the links to all of the favorite recipes you listed. I will try each of these with my 1 year old. He isn’t overly thrilled with table foods. He eats a bite or 2 and that’s it. So we are still primarily on the bottle. I am hoping I can find some foods/recipes that he will love so that I can get him off some of his daily bottle intake.
Thank you so much for this video Ashley! I’m feeling much more confident now about how to prepare food for BLW. Especially when you explain why finger size food is a great idea 😅. Hope all well with your family and your girls 😀
Hi Ashley!!! You are incredible! I am so thankful that I came across your channel a few weeks ago. Only to find out you talk about everything I want to do for my daughter and such a coincidence my baby was born on March 12th so only 3 days after Mia. She is so cute. Love her eyes! I actually already own that book but just for fun I plan to introduce avocados to her first this week as she is just sitting on her own now. Thank you so much for this amazing content you offer here. You are the best!
Great video Ashley - very informative, and I loved the inserts of you cutting up the food, so we could see exactly what sizes/ textures were recommended. The clips of Mia and baby Kylie were super-cute too!
My baby girl is almost 6 months old and is a hapa baby too! I love your videos they are really informative and and your girls are adorable. I recently purchased the floor bed you have for Mia and can't wait to put it together. I'm excited to try baby led weaning because I feel it will give my girl control and independence over her body. I don't have an Instagram handle. Thanks for making great content.
Pregnant with baby number 3 and I am determined to succeed at this. My daughter 18 months is so picky right now. Possibly from teething . This was so helpful and saved it to a Playlist. So no baby rice or oatmeal either?
I love your videos! I'm curious to know if you have any tips on storing and conserving what remains of the prepared food after a meal, so they can be used again another time. From my experience with my first baby I know that, specially in the beginning, they won't eat the whole avocado/banana or whatever we give them. Thanks!
Any untouched bits I usually just store in the refrigerator as leftovers for the next attempt. Otherwise, I just try to take the strategy of giving her very little at first, and if she eats all of it, then I can always give her more.
Great video especially since my fourth and last refused to be spoon fed from the start and definitely wanted what we were eating she is now 9 m and eating everything that we eat ( with exceptions to choking hazards and very salty dishes ) loves avocado 🥑🥑🥑
Oh man 😟 this video is 2years old. I missed the give away. Well I thank you so much for all the information, it could be a bit scary feeding your baby food at first but you make me more comfortable doing so after seeing this video. Thanks
Thank you again Ashley for this video! I feel that I'm thanking you for every video (re: BLW / Montessori) posted just cause they are very helpful and informative for me! I would like to ask if your babies ever throw food down from the highchair / table? My baby is 11m old now and we started her on BLW since 6m but it wasn't consistent as I wasn't her main caregiver on weekdays. Her progression is slow but steady. She does full BLW on weekends with me and I'm amazed each time I give her food (how to reacts, explores and eats them). But lately I noticed she's throwing food down from the highchair. I guess she's not interested in food at that point or it's something she is not familiar with / doesn't want to eat. I have to keep reminding her that "food is for eating not throwing" and using a lot of "no, no, no" at mealtimes. I also resort to removing her plate and she just sits on the highchair while the family finishes our meal. Is there any suggestions to workaround it? I feel that I'm not doing it right? I don't feel good but don't know what else to do. Thank you in advance!!
Some kids stop throwing food to the floor once it’s no longer a game because they’re closer to the floor... have you considered a weaning table? Also, serve less at once and allow them to ask for more if they eat it all, this way there’s less to play with. But with that said, this is still developmentally normal. I remember Kylie doing it. 😊👍🏻 Otherwise, keep doing what you’re doing with the reminders and ending meal times if play begins.
@@HapaFamily thank you so much! Yes I was considering getting a weaning table but here in Singapore, our apartments are very small. I'm figuring out where to place the table and chair if we do purchase one. Over the weekend, I observed that she only throws food she does not want to eat. I googled about it and someone recommended giving a separate bowl for baby to place their unwanted food so they don't throw it down? I might try that. It's easy to clean up at home but quite a hassle when we're dining out.
Love the video! Such a handy tool you use for cutting the food! Question about the oatmeal. You say just follow the instructions on the package. On my package there are none. But when I make oatmeal for myself I use milk. I boil the milk then add the oatmeal and cook it. Animal milk is not allowed under 1? Do you use water? Breastmilk? Plant-based milk?

Your videos are chock full of information, which is awesome. You've cut out all the silence between sentences to maximize your content density, I get that. I also get that on UA-cam there's pause and rewind so it's not like we have to take notes or memorize information in real time. However I think you can use silence in an effective way to make the viewing/listening experience a little easier. Just a small suggestion. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the constructive feedback! :)
thank you so much for the video, I have trying weaning with the baby and all info was not clear and made this juorney hard, but you kept it super easy and clear
After watching this I’m so excited to start BLW I have tried purées but I really want to switch to this !!!
Very helpful content. I feel better trying this with my daughter.
I have two boys age 6 & 18 month. I thought I know it all but this video is very helpful for me. Thanks
I just came across your channel. I love your content! This is so helpful for a first time mom like myself. Thank you ❤
I love your videos!
You´re so great explaining really important details, thanks Im not a mom yet but your videos definitly will help me soon.
So much good info in this video! Thank you! I'm really enjoying your channel!
The BEST video I watched on led weaning. Thanks!
Absolutely helpful! Can’t thank you enough! You’re great teacher!
this is so helpful and informative! I really want to do BLW and love your videos, but always felt I had no idea where to even start and what to make, but having this visual has been mind opening! thank you!
Amazing!!! You really cover all the bases with your videos
Thank you for these videos. I decided to switch my twins at 1 from puree to baby led weaning. (Late I know) this has been do helpful

My baby girl just turned 5 months and I’m preparing my self for baby let winning.
I’m so nerves and excited. ❤️
Love your channel
Thank you.
I love your videos! You always explain things thoroughly. I don’t have babies yet but I’m getting ready
Agreed, entirely! 🌹
Thank you! This has been very helpful. More helpful than any other weaning video I’ve seen. Looking forward to trying your recipes too
Hi Ashley!!!
Your videos are sooo educational! Thank you!
Thank you for keeping up on the literature and giving updated information about allergenic food being given earlier rather than later!
What a cute babies 💕 Thanks for sharing experience 👌
Fantastic video! Thank you 😊 how do I go about freezing some of the prepared foods.
Great video!!! 😊😊😊💜💜💜Thanks for these useful tips!
Very informative video you explain everything very clearly. I am starting weaning my baby with banana easy to mash and feed the baby.
Great video especially since my fourth and last refused to be spoon fed from the start and definitely wanted what we were eating she is now 9 m and eating everything that we eat ( with exceptions to choking hazards and very salty dishes ) loves avocado 🥑🥑🥑
I always follow your video.. i was worried how to start finger food for my baby.. Thank you so much 💓
This was SO helpful, thank you so much for this info! Love how well researched and informative these videos are
Thank you so much!!! This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! Thank you! I was so confused!!!
Oh man 😟 this video is 2years old. I missed the give away. Well I thank you so much for all the information, it could be a bit scary feeding your baby food at first but you make me more comfortable doing so after seeing this video. Thanks
This is incredibly helpful thank you
Thank you for your video, this was all super helpful. Also, there isnt one "extra' word in those videos, how do you do that? :-) xx
Omg...this is soo helpful,to the point...and just apt..thanks heaps for this
Thank you again Ashley for this video!
Love this. Super easy. Thanks for breaking it down simple! Going to try some of this with my 9 month old.
You can use any of the above, I usually use water. :) It’s up to you! 😊
@@HapaFamily Thank you! I will try with water in a few months!
