penguin is so cute, but they just could add all of them. Armadilo and crabs have more uses but this is another problem with these limited features like glow ink
I still don’t fully understand why they do away with all these features that all would do well, we’ll some I kinda get in the long run like the Devourer which turned into the grindstone or whatever disenchants but still, I don’t get why you’d give 3-4 really good ideas and only implement one

In my opinion they made the other two seem so useful and then you have this. I mean it looks great but its functionality isnt so great to be added over the other two.
Yes I wish they had have expanded more into exactly how the penguins would make the boat faster and why that would be useful
Hot take but I think that they shouldn't tell us what the mobs drop and do.
These votes seem like less a mob vote and more of a vote for what items they drop.

There's actually a single species of tropical penguins, the Galapagos penguins, so jungle penguins are kind of believable
It sounds like it's just dolphins grace for boats. It would be cooler if they shed penguin feathers that can be used to upgrade boats
This only seems practical if you can trap the penguin in a boat and use it that way. It would be neat if you could tame it and have it give you various temporary buffs depending on what kind of fish you feed it.
Once again - you're right on top of things with early and comprehensive info on how this might actually be used in game!

In real life penguins live in warmer regions, too. Like South America e.g. So it wouldn't be wrong if there were penguins in other biomes than frozen ones ;)

Ngl as cute as penguins are the crab is waaaay to hard to pass up. Like boats can already go fast enough on ice. the armadillo will give armor on kill but how good is that armor? Is the armor like the shell of a turtle where it gives a tiny bit of water breathing? Mean while the crab extends ur block placing range which can lead to much creativity and be so very useful! Just me tho.

why use a faster boat when we already have Elytra and Dolphins make us faster anyway, but these Penguins do have a use ngl, making Nether Travel even faster in boats and on ice, so a Nether Hub connecting different locations is even more important if they get added
Penguins live in Africa, Australia, and many other warm places so its not that weird. Also cant forget about Penguins from Madagascar.

I'm voting for penguins to minimize clutter. My choice comes down to 1.) Giving life to an otherwise dull biome... and 2.) Inventory management.
Also, The penguin boat feature will be great for early exploration- without taking up a precious inventory spot.
With no guarantee that the crab claw will adjust block *breaking* distance, and not just placing, I don't see its appeal.
Having a new critter in the savannah would be great too- but for me armadillo falls second to penguin.
Now I think it's idiotic that my choice is based on a huge flaw in game design, but with limited space I don't want anything else with one-off uses getting in my way.
What do y'all think?
Just add all three, I refuse to believe they can’t add 3 simplistic creatures that modders can fully flesh out moments after their announcements like the copper golem and that one daisy cow. MC devs need to just hire modders, they seem to be better workers than everyone else there lol

Why are these updates and new mobs so mild? is Mojang seriously afraid of power creep in Minecraft?
How many people here actually use the Allay?
They really can't think of anything else? And why do we only get one? Would it be too much work for them to add all three? How about they make five and we vote for three to be added? How about every mob in the game has a rare drop that is actually useful. I don't mean armor on a dog useful. I mean how about it actually makes your character stronger or faster. Or gives your character a new ability.
Penguin: When a wild hostile mob kills them, they have a chance of dropping feathers. How about pieces of armor have slots? Put the penguin feather in your chestplate and now you can swim as fast as the dolphin buff as long as you're wearing the armor.
Is that too powerful for Minecraft? Jeez
Armadillo: Every time the player approaches or damages the armadillo, it rolls up and quickly rolls away, making it super hard to kill. While rolled up projectile reflect back to the shooter. If you can manage to kill it, it has a chance to drop it's shell. The armor shell can be applied to any piece of armor making it Armordilloed. Now, whenever you are hit with a projectile, there's a chance the projectile will be shot back at the shooter.
Crab: Kill the crab for a chance to get the claw. Combine the claw with a diamond pickaxe. The Crab Claw Pickaxe can damage/break multiple blocks at a time.
Would all of this break Minecraft and make it a less fun experience? These sound pretty feaking fun to me.
They never said you would upgrade your existing Boats directly. Its likely that all they do is give you an Effect called Penguin Power, something like Dolphins Grace but for Boats only.
Hmm. This is an interesting one. I personally think the crab has the best use inside of Minecraft. As much as I want to see armadillos & penguins inside of Minecraft i definitely think that they could find a better use for both of them. Also related to entities, at some point here soon Mojang really needs to make some adjustments to the way entities are handled inside of Minecraft as well as some overall lag improvements related to the integrated server/logic engine. Like when playing on a lower end pc why is it that I can get very acceptable performance with 3rd party mods, but not anything close to acceptable with vanilla? Vanilla runs SO god awful it’s honestly embarrassing. Both versions too (Though they each have separate problems). Thankfully Java has amazing mods to fix this but what about bedrock? My little sister was recently showing me some stuff in one of her worlds (she plays on Nintendo switch) and the world was straight up refusing to load. Is this just normal performance for Minecraft on Nintendo switch? I don’t play bedrock so I have no clue what’s normal on there but we did a bunch of testing together on a new world because I ensured her it shouldn’t be nearly that bad, but not a single thing I did changed just how slow the chunks were loading.

It's gotten to the point where you can't play 2 players without the game freezing every couple minutes
Switch runs that bad. Also there is a size cap on the save files. You can only have 1GB for all your worlds and resource packs to share.
@r3ckless960, luckily hosting my realm on pc, and having my brothers join with their Switches seems to take some of the problem, but come on Mojang/Nintendo 🙄
I hate that the choice of one is the omission of the other two. We need a mob update.
I think he penguin would be useful since it could make Ice boating in the nether even faster and exploring even more fun. It might actually make transporting villagers faster too.
There should be snowy, cold, temperate and warm stony shore so it matches the ocean and surrounding biomes. Beaches should have temperature variants too. And also when it comes to water hue to blend well. Stoney shores could generate huge parts in other stone variants so you can have like granite cliffs or andesite cliffs.
I am voting crab. It provides a tool that will help us out and many different scenarios. Wolf armor is neat but could be introduced later through turtle scutes.
I am hoping that people will realize that Chest Boats will be getting an upgrade.
I also really hope this works with ice like you had mention.

I simply wish they wouldt pick only 1 out of 3 mobs, but rather let players decide, which of them is going to be added first, second and last. Seeing these options, I would love to have them all.
I was kind of expecting penguins to show up in ice biomes, which would have been a bonus as far as breaking up some of the monotony of the biome, but just stony shore is just.. eh. Overall not crazy about em.

Fun fact, most penguin species actually don't live at the South Pole! Only two species of penguins, the emperor penguin and the Adélie penguin, actually live in Antarctica. Most of the penguin species live in temperate areas across the southern hemisphere, some species even live at the equator!

The reason I'm voting for the crab is that once you get an elytra boats are obsolete. Not everyone has a wolf, and some who do don't take them on adventures, they just keep them safe at home. But everyone places blocks, all of the time. Weather you're building a starter house, mega base, caving, exploring the nether, fighting the ender dragon or fighting other players we all place blocks. Crabs extend your block placing reach so they are the most useful. That's why I'm voting for the crab
It's just gonna be annoying when you make a mistake and gotta get closer anyways to break it.
Also, elytra doesn't replace boats. Mobs still need to be transported.
Despite those 2 things, I super respect your take. Picking the one that has the most effect on most players regardless of early game vs late game. My issue personally is. . . most players won't find it. :/ Mangrove is like. . . impossible to find without a seed searcher. . . which, more players use dogs than seed searchers.😅
Maybe they are easier to find with an elytra. Sure, but at that point, you would be prioritizing late game. And most players don't actually make it that far.
Imagine if you could pick up a penguim with a boat and drive the boat faster all the time... That would be cool

Crabs have too many issues, first why do they only spawn in mangrove swamps? If they are adding crabs I want them in coral reefs and beaches. Second a crab claw would end up as a total novelty item, we already have too many tools in our inventory and a few extra blocks or reach (that are exclusive to building and can’t even be used in combat) wouldn’t justify another one. Not to mention that it would mess with your muscle memory to have different block reaches. If you have ever played the create mod, there is the extendo grip that is the same thing and I have never seen anyone genuinely use that.
Okay, but just wanna say. Of it would work for combat it would be SUPER broken as it’s just Reach Hacks
It’s a quality of life thing. The dog armor is much more useless as nobody uses them to begin with.

They can be used in
combat, you can water bucket easier, pour lava onto players, and cobweb players.
crabs are in mangrove swamps so that mangrove swamps have more of a purpose and it would look nice.
It would for sure mess with muscle memory but it's not a big problem, you can adapt to it easily with practice
Even though the penguin is a useless mob, especially compared to the others, I still think it's gonna win just because it's the cutest mob

Building is always used even if you're not much of a builder. Wolf armor kinda useless because they just kill themselves, and more boat speed wont always be used.
In my opinion im gonna say crab it is incredible useful and i feel like we should try and fit more things into the new biome

Crabs: get a crab claw it'll give you the ability to place blocks further away
Armadillo: get armadillo scut to make wolf armor for your dog

Yep this is only useful if you can strap the penguin to your boat and use it as your outboard motor.
Crab should be added and is the reason why you would vote for it. 1st it can place block from further away and if possible can make pvp a little more interesting if they make it pvp usable. 2nd armadillo is cool but it's not going to be beneficial to the player base that don't use dogs. 3rd and Finale the Penguin is cool but I think it only work on water instead of land and it's just the dolphin but with boats which seems less useful when you combine depth strider and dolphin together which may be more expensive but it faster. That's all if you read this plz consider the crab and if possible vote for it because building in basically what players do when they go into the end game

The majority of penguin species don't live In the cold, crested penguins live mostly in warmer climates so it makes sense to have them on Rocky shores even away from the cold biomes. It wouldn't Make a lot of sense to put them in
