    0 problems with my auto at 122k but I'm starting to source these parts now, this is hella appreciated. Tyvm for the informational video

      Glad the video helped. I'm glad to know that you don't have any problems with your auto transmission but I think getting parts before it happens is the best way to go about things because all you have to do is find out how to get all the work done for the swap.

      Thanks for the comment. I got the parts over time that’s why it took longer to create the video because I wanted to include all the parts needed so the swap could be easier for anyone else trying to this same thing.

    The accord have the same bolt pattern as preludes 1995-2002. From 1995-1997 the automatics in there are good, so if you want to stay automatic you can use a automatic from 1995-1997

    • @automotiveobsession7265
      @automotiveobsession7265  2 роки тому

      I know the prelude and the accord of that generation have many similarities. I noticed this when buying some other parts for the prelude it states that it also fits the accord. I can't say for sure that the automatic transmission fits the prelude just because I have not tried it myself but then again I'm not saying that you are wrong. Just a risk that every person is going to decide if they want to take. Thanks for the information and the help.

    Can you use the axles from your auto and use the manual half shaft or does it need manual axles as well?

    I've been having problems with my automatic prelude (220,000kms on first gearbox), and I think it's finally time to swap the box out, do you take the engine out at all in this job considering it's fwd?

    • @automotiveobsession7265

      The gearbox usually starts to have problems at that mileage. I got my swap done at a shop but I'm sure that my engine did not come out of the car for them to complete the swap.

      Mine’s in the workshop since last Friday…. The oil was pretty dirty and there’s a loud noise around flywheel area..i had the same noise 2 years ago and then i ignored it and it went away…. It goes in gear for some time and then stop moving after few minutes 😒

    Hey man! Thanks for the info really helpful! Was wondering if I can reuse the trans mount and axles cause I did some research and apparently auto and manual are similar for those parts?

    • @automotiveobsession7265
      @automotiveobsession7265  Рік тому

      Thanks for the kind words. I was able to keep my same axles that came with the car so I'm confident you can use them again when doing this swap. The only transmission mount that needed to be changed was the one I showed in the video which is specific to the manual transmission other than that everything else bolts right into place.

    When you swap automatic transmission to manual transmition is it also possible to swap rpm caunter, because automatic caunter is a litle bit different than manual.

    • @automotiveobsession7265
      @automotiveobsession7265  8 місяців тому +1

      You can change it especially because the D4 light will continue flashing when you drive but as far as the RPM gauge I'm sure it works the same for both auto and manual because the engine is still the same. I kept mine the same and it works fine. It's a part that you don't need that's why I didn't include it in the list but it's more of a preference and to make it less obvious the has a transmission swap.

      Hello, from my own experience and from what I've researched I have not seen a "specific" model to avoid but you should verify that the specific parts fit your vehicle and that they are the in the best condition you can afford or find to prevent future problems and to get the best results possible.

    Hey I’m looking to buy a Honda prelude it has an auto the car has 93k on it, one question do you have the exact name for the manual trans mount I can find it anywhere? At least the one in the video?

    • @automotiveobsession7265

      The way I was able to find the part was by searching for "2000 Honda prelude manual transmission chassis mount". Remember to put the year of your car in the search like I did. Now I have been searching for the part since reading this comment but I have not found any for sale yet. I bought mine on Ebay and I also searched there but could not find any. If I'm able to find one I will put the link to it under this comment.

    • @automotiveobsession7265
      @automotiveobsession7265  Рік тому

      From my experience this is no true. As long as you buy quality parts and do quality work or take take it to someone who will do quality work it should run fine.

    • @automotiveobsession7265
      @automotiveobsession7265  Рік тому

      @@cloudymo6117 Makes sense. The other thing you have to think about is that with the auto it will eventually stop running because it's known to cause problems so you either keep swapping auto transmissions or do the manual swap and at least still have a running car. Again you do this correctly with quality work and parts and I don't see why it would not run fine.

    • @MrYogitron92

    • @automotiveobsession7265

      It could be because I researched these parts for this swap and it was listed in there but I have also read of people saying they have a pilot bearing/ pilot bushing and others saying they don't. As far as I know transmissions do need a pilot bearing to work properly but maybe there are rare cases when they don't need them.

    I wish I would have just did the 5 speed swap my 98 instead.. I wanted to but thought it would have been cheaper after my first auto got sobatage by a jealouse auto parts worker from O Reilly's telling me to on purpose the wrong trans oil to use in it & it blew up using valvoline tran fluid ..I bought another semi AUTO trans & it got sobatage before it even got to my house.. someone smashed like three shift solenoid on the newer used transmission. I replace them all fill it up with HONDA TRANS OIL..so far I have spent 3k on the new trans & it still will not shift out of 1st gear not even in manual mode..if u could help me trouble shoot I would be grate full.. I tried sending it to a shop but some other jealouse scum bag stop my car from getting fix it sat at a trans shop for almost 3 month's. & they could not even tell me what was wrong with it..

      My auto transmission had the same issue of not being able to shift out of first gear even in manual mode. I even added Lucas transmission oil but it did not help because the issue was bad. When my transmission started to have problems and I researched until I found out that the automatic transmissions in the fifth generation Honda prelude are known for having problems and eventually have to be replaced with a manual one. I can't diagnose your transmission just by hearing it has problems because it could a few factors and I don't know how to fix it because I have never fixed one before. I did not even try to fix mine I just had to save up enough to buy all the parts to do the manual swap and take it to a trusted mechanic that would complete the swap correctly. I researched a lot before making this decision but thank god it proved to be the right one because everything has worked fine until now. My only advise would be to find a trusted mechanic to take a look at the transmission you have to try and fix it or just begin to save up to complete the manual swap. Good Luck.

      @@automotiveobsession7265 I'm not gonna do the manual swap any time soon.. like I said Iall ready spent 3,000.. on the new used auto' manual.. it only has 60k miles on it..the other one that went out cause some pos told me to used the wrong trans oil on purpose to make it blow up..& trans lasted over 200,000 miles.... my first goal is to figure out what else is wrong with the new trans... I will some day do a full manual swap but when I do its gonna be a dogbox. Like what kyle from the boostedbozi is running in his RED HATCH.. I'm a OG boostedbozi fan..
