  • H20, go! Youth crew lives on with their new video, 'What Happened,' fourteen years after their formation. The clip kicks off with Michael Rappaport asking the same question the song's title inquires, and then comes to life with a montage of downtown NYC scenes with guest appearances from Lou of it All in a barber's chair and Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio paying homage to the East Village's Joe Strummer mural. The guys remind us that they still have 'Nothing to Prove' as they dig their influences out of record bins, flaunting a vinyl reissue of the almighty 'Start Today' album.
    lyrics
When it began, for those who don't know
It didn't matter how you looked or what you wore to a show
Dress codes, FUCK NO! we didn't care
About the brand of your jeans and all that shit in your hair
But now the biggest part is all about the image and not the art
    Fashion before passion!
And at nights, it makes me mad that I should have to ask:
What happened to the passion? (passion!)
    What the reason for screaming?
What happened the music and the message that I love?
What happened to the hard work? (hard work!)
And why does everybody look the same?
What happened the music and the message that I love?
And I know, that people chance
And we go through different stages in life
And I'm not here to criticize
But the reason I scream, is a feeling inside
But now the biggest part is all about the image and not the art
    Fashion before passion!
And at nights, it makes me mad that I should have to ask:
What happened to the passion? (passion!)
    What the reason for screaming?
What happened the music and the message that I love?
What happened to the hard work? (hard work!)
    h2o - What Happened?
    lyrics from www.6lyrics.com
And why does everybody look the same?
What happened the music and the message that I love?
    Lost (1, 2, 3, 4) lifetime ago it seems
You gave up on your wildest dreams
But I refuse to let mine go
I took an oath, you can find me here
With an open heart and ears
    Refusing to surrender
    I can't believe they don't remember
What it feels like to be young
What happened to the passion? (passion!)
    What the reason for screaming?
What happened the music and the message that I love?
What happened to the hard work? (hard work!)
And why does everybody look the same?
What happened the music and the message that I love?

This song comes to an epic lapse in 2:16 I love this part, I'm from colombia, and I come from a not so wealthy family, sometimes I don't even have the money to get into hardcore shows, but I love this music, and what it represents to me...Hardcore gives me the strength to go through everything that life's thrown at me...It made me believe in myself since i found...Now I'm in college, and people change everything they are just to fit in...but I enjoy being out of step thanks to this music andTHANK YOU H2O!

Great song and a great bunch of guys!! Over 20 years of HC for me and I'm so close to turning my back on the scene now because of all the divisions and rifts within the scene. • @I-495
      @I-495 10 місяців тому +1

I hope you didn’t turn your back on it.
Because when we’re young, we don’t think the same way as we do when we’re older
The divisions were worse in the 90s due to the rise of pop-punk and pop-core in the main stream
We just didn’t notice because we were kids growing up
Try to imagine being 14 right now and listening to H2O for the first time
      That’s what I do

Love H2O and could not agree more about the "reason for screaming". But about "it didn't matter how you look or what you wore to a show" I don't. Style and look have always been important in hardcore in general: it's the way you used to spot nazis, straight edge dudes, skinheads, and so on blablabla. In reality, TODAY! It doesn't matter what you wear to a show for real but back in the days, it was another story because your style and look could get you suckerpunched or worst.

everyone needs to quit arguing and just enjoy this! H2O is great and they bring a positive message to hardcore that can lift anyone up, when they are down and out. S.E.O.G.'s for life!!!

Don't talk about something you don't understand.
Anyway , this song is the most epic thing a Hardcore band can come up with.
I agree with whoever said that every other true hardcore band should cover this song.

H20 has been around long enough to an extent what ever they like. Look at some of their old stuff if you like this.
    P.S.
Matt Skiba's part in front of Joe Strummer gave me goose bumps.

if you suck up the fact that punk music and punk musicians create constant contradictions amongst each other, and just enjoy the music without taking it too seriously, it makes the entire experience much more pleasurable.
