@@frapollo94 well I grew up with creepy pastas, and I can say this feels like on at first glance, strange how fitting a creepy pasta is for fear and hunger
I remember reading Miro said something along the lines that the games were a reflection of everyone's collective trauma, in the most oppressive atmosphere possible. I think this was intended to be a very literal reading of his intentions and maybe was scrapped for being too on the nose ("we are all the god of fear and hunger"). Great deep dive and archival work, I love this kind of stuff.
I was going to comment this, it seems very meta, like its coming from the outside and hinting at breaking the 4th wall. I was more leaning towards it being a self insert, as in the ideas that he has leading too him creating the game is a stare into the void too long and the void stares back kinda situation.
The Person could be basically kind of Miro's self-insert. Maybe in initial versions of the game he wanted to have some avatar of himself as an interactable character, but he abandoned this idea later during the development. That would explain both The Person being "the TRUE god of fear and hunger" (the one who literally created the game) as well as refering to "the popular belief that I created the dungeon (...)"
Frapollo whispering into the microphone for framatic effect was nkt what I came here for, but what I needed to boost my mood. I hope he never stops finding new things in this game
I am 110% sure of the father funeral story thing having some kind of relation to the Vile given he too is randomly spraying pesticide on fish in Termina but whether that's super secret hidden lore or just a repurposed concept, it seems more likely to be the latter
I personally think there was supposed to be an ending about alll-mer and that the husk dialogue was about his backstory and why he became a god. Even though alll-mer is supposed to be a fiction representation of jesus christ, i can believe that the dungeon is supposed to represent his tomb as you can find alll-mers skeleton and the husk is the person who created it to seal him in there. Just a little waffle and theory but thats the fun of it!
@@frapollo94 mauthedog theorized that all mer is actually gro goroth that has died and ascended twice , first by becoming a new god and second by ascending and it was honestly pretty convincing since the sun god is the true mastermind of termina
Another way to examine this theory is that, the core tenant of Christianity is to assume that Christ arose on the third day from the tomb, say his goodbyes, and join His place as the right hand of the Father. However, with Allmer trapped in the tomb and dungeon, this assumes his ascension isn't complete as the Messiah. If Mahabre is an alternate Rome where the Polytheistic gods still roam while Allmer is dormant, the new gods are taking advantage of the power vacuum as Mahabre collapsed from its own weight, and Gothic culture became the new Western standard of thought. At least one of the new gods is as recent as the Spanish Conquistadors, meaning the dungeons were never truly abandoned. Seeing as the miracles of waterwalking and wine transmutation can also be found within the dungeon but don't exist outside, Gro-Goroth we now know hid Allmer away to keep their foothold over ruling the world, but is only a reflection of Allmer's power. The world could only wait so long before a new messiah is made, so Le'Garde was meant to take his place, but the Little Girl has more in common with Allmer than Le'Garde. However, since she's too young, she can't ascend without help and can only be manipulated by false prophets. Or, y'know, Miro is the "person" saying that Funger came to him in a dream and he was destined to work on it whether he liked it or not. "It's an evil message, but it had to be said."
D'arce's Ensing S is called the TRUE GOD OF FEAR & HUNGER where she ritualistically resurrects L'garde after his torturous demise, who underwent a mystic metamorphosis, returning as a demoniac skinless ghoul, who would herald doom and terror upon the world. I wonder, if the True God of Fear & Hunger is a remnant of these old ideas. The Tormented One being summoned from L'gard's sacrifice, referencial to the Hellriser / Hellbound Heart rituals that inspired its skinless appearance. Maybe, the Dungeons were akin to the physical form of an Old One, before conceptualizing properly the God of the Depths [the canonical engineer of the Dungeons, and an insutrumental entity in the transcendance of The Girl into the God of F&H. Miro must have re written several drafts of this already abstract process.
Yeah that's a good theory! I didn't include that as imo the narrator speaking is different than an ending title, I think the narrator is omniscent while title are just cool things!

Well, I wouldn't say that just because few aspects changed with The Vile, that his behaviour is just a coincidence. Ideas obviously evolve, and this was likely created during very early stages of Funger. And Termina actually features a lot of throwbacks to the past, some of the artworks originate from Miro's work that happened years before even the first Funger. So I think it's almost certain what Husk said here, eventually became the idea for The Vile.
In fact I don't think it is a coincidence just because of the different Vile Aspect, but also because of the moment in time Person was created, and the fact it also made it to Level 9 chamber!

I think it might be a prototipe for a different game or place where the creator juat put stuff he might want to use. For one i don't think they would talk about football in the fear and hunger setting, that conversation is probably from an older time period like in termina. The dialogue where he talks about creating the dungeon could be the creator himself speaking through a character, lots of people try to say that fear and hunger has unnecessary evil whoch could elude to the "its an evil message but it has to be said".
Its funny you bring the idea that the S endings are illusions when this "person" kills the whole party, because i always had the theory ALL S ending are cannon, including cahara even if someone has to be sacraficed for the A ending. I felt like the GoF&H was born thanks to cahara and she did kill him, but she gave the illusion that he made it out, and played out his life, as if he made it out with wealth. which is why he fears the darkness in his S ending and carries trauma moreso then the others. Its because the darkness is his actual fate, and even in this ideal dream world he is still in the depth where the GoF&H is.

Incredible video! The demo is one of my favorite bits surrounding the first game. Miros headspace at the time and the sheer amount of cut content leaves so much to the imagination.. incredible find!
Now my mind is terrified and lost in fear and uncertainty. What actually happened in this dungeon of Rondon? What was behind the scene? What was we? New gods? Bringers of god of Fear and Hunger? Or we were just a puppets walking and dying or being lost in outskirts of history that was really created and which we didn't saw or were unable to understand? If such monstrosities as Gro'goroth and Sylvian were created and saw by human eye, what else can exist in this world and unreachable for human eyes or mind? Dungeons of Fear and Hunger is just a tip of an iceberg of what actually hidden from our eyes underground, and we better not even try to reveal something that lies beneath.
The line about creating the dungeon could mean it’s related to the god of the depths Rag says these dungeons are the shifting organs of that god I believe
Awesome video and great sleuth work Frap :) The whole video style with the altered voice over from you voicing 'Person' really gave me like, nostalgic vibes from old 'creepy' videos from eons ago, the theory for the ending is also rather sound I'd say, the whole 'We never left, this is an illusion' etc
You know I actually do feel like this particular ending suggested is actually still the canon ending, similar to how Kentaro Muira had to retcon the chapter involving what is known as God in their world, Miro may also have put something into the game out of reference or similar issue that he might have instead built up a whole endgame for Fear and Hunger overall. Also made me think; the faceless figure resembles a lot of appearances to the face used for the God of the Depths. In addition, the Tormented One gives us his soul at the end of the fight in the first game when you fight his true self. But you can also fight him in the second game, and in this instance he died twice in physical form. And the sequel doesn't grant you the Tormented Soul through fighting him either, so it feels like there's something else going on there, since the first game you can indeed get multiple of the main souls of the plot and the Hexen.
you know, that final battle makes me wonder why the god of fear and hunger resembles the husks in both texture and color. it looks like an advanced form of husk, kinda?
Welp, that was unsettling. At first i just thought that it might just be stuff that was forgotten to be taken out like the debug tiles, but to have such dialog in it as well... It's hard to imagine it just being stuff forgotten to be removed. But i do think its best to remember that this stuff is not really in the position to be deemed canon, considering how one can't access this place naturally. (and i should get back to watching that vod. Hopefully this time i won't be distracted for a while, lol.)
Of course this stuff isn't canon unfortunately! That's why it may be a discarded ending the dev had in mind, but that didn't integrate well with the others!
Quick addendum. One idea that just popped into my head is that maybe this is all part of the demo storyline, or whatever it was meant to become. Those person's are in the same room as the "False Idols" after all. Also, man you respond quickly. Didn't even have time to post this addendum before you answered, heh.
You did a great job tackling this new style and tone of content, would defintely love to see more videos about Fear and Hunger theories and mythology! I think the idea of a 'true' god of the dungeons is such an interesting concept as even when you fight the reminants of the old gods your ability to win a gruelling fight is predicated on the idea of them growing bored and giving up. Just how much more powerful would this creator be?
Happy you liked it! Yeah I may give this more shots in the future, but still yeah I think person could potentially be the strongest entity of the dungeon at this point!
I mean who knows maybe the dev works on implementing that or rather expanding on that what is in the game at some point, maybe sometime after working on termina and I really like the theory it was very interesting to listen to^^
Maybe person was an Architect who built the dungeon before the incident in which it turned into what it is today. Maybe wanted to revive his father so he tried to contact the gods in which they created THE dungeon we know today and creating an entrance to mahabre? We know the person says "contrary to popular belief I did not create these dungeons, they created me"
its funny because this kinda ties into a theroy about the sulfur god and all-mer kinda that when all mer ascended that another god was also created and so when the god of fear and hunger was created it was not the true god but just the whispers of it and the other god created was "hidden" from others etc. idk if that makes sense im tired
Maybe Person was going to be the God of the Depths? Person says that they did not make the dungeons but the dungeons made them, which reminds me of how the God of the Depths is explained to change the layout of the dungeon. Maybe it was going to be an explanation of how the God of the Depths came to be? The God of the Depths is called a god, but is not treated like any of the ones we hear of. It’s only really treated as one by the cave dwellers. When asked in battle what god you serve, it’s not one of the options (Raer isn’t either though to be fair). The coloration of Person reminds me of the God of the Depths’ mouth. They’re both that sickly yellow color. Just my take 🤷
Your dedication to the game is truly inspiring and admirable. Thank you, Frapollo! I literally got chills from how you narrate the dialogues, especially the last one
This video feels like those documentary-type deep dives into obscure gaming ARGs in the same vein as MyHouse.WAD, and I'm all here for it. On a completely unrelated note, what's the music track you use for your outros?
I'm not sure if it has been mentioned but just contextually, this might be another Berserk reference? I'm not gonna say what happens in it but this information might be a potential spoiler. there's a famous/infamous berserk chapter that, after publication (and im paraphrasing here) Miura thought it hampered things about the story, so the chapter doesn't appear in volume releases, and much of what it features is considered non-canon. the dialogue of the faceless person reading "I did not create these dungeons, they created me, what you see is me reflecting them" in Fear & Hunger is similar and has a similar context to how it's used in that lost chapter of Berserk. Maybe there's even a small playfulness in the idea that a lost room in F&H mirrors a lost berserk chapter, which could indicate a reading on how to interpret this room
@@frapollo94 the chapter is actually part of the Golden Age arc, its Chapter 83 (if you see chapter guides and volumes, youl'd see they jump from chapter 82 straight to 84), though as a personal opinion, it does make sense that this chapter should be read at a later point, like around the chapter 200 mark
I cant tell if this is creepy pasta or actual ingame code that somewhat fits narratively since previous videos have mentioned these skipped battles and endings
I love this video! Its cool that someone is putting so much attention in to this game it definitely deserves it! Props to you my dude for once again being the real MVP!!!

You introduced me to this game and now I'm obsessed w it😂I'm so impressed by your skills I've died 100s of times and just recently made it to the first save point. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get to Moonless without breaking both my legs jumping down that pit. Thinking about trying some of the other games you stream as well
Wow! That is intriguing! True and false endings, new and old gods... the whole thing is a storytelling masterpiece of horrific design. I didnt realize there was a hidden fight w "True" Fear and Hunger that led up to S-Ending. I mean, whose to say "Person" didnt just assume their form to live out S-Ending? That would be my theory. Its wicked. Noticing some of the jumbled tiles reminds me- when working in RPG Maker, sometimes tiles that arent in a tileset anymore or have been changed/ modified in the system, appears as other tiles. I thought that was interesting bc there mayve been a design choice which excluded the level. Otherwise, my last thought, is I noticed bugs and what have you crawling about. Does Talk w/ Insects provide any additional information in this setting? Id be curious to know if it differs. Fascinating discovery- ty for sharing Frapollo! : D
didn't ragnvaldr say the god of the depths controls the dungeons and IS the dungeons themselves? also for the "true" god of fear & hunger thing, i think it's talking about the idea of the ideology of fear & hunger which exists in the green hue just like every other idea in human existence. and it would make sense that it would acknowledge you because you delving into the dungeons and coming out more powerful than the average human is the literal embodiment of it's ideology so of course it would like that.
it is interesting that true god of fearn and hunger might either implies person is the god of fear and hunger but as person say ''i did not create the dungeons. they created me. Therefore you fight god of funger and when you win TRUE god of funger acknowledges you. or person is the true god of funger and such a being is mrely a construct of the dungeons that somehow occured naturally.
What if the Dungeon was a manifestation of Alll-mers negative emotions that he hid while he was alive? He's supposed to be a representation of Jesus Christ and he's never shown to have negative feelings in the Bible, despite what he's been through, so the dungeon could be the demonstration that he was instead hiding all his pain. I feel like it could also be related to why the only person who can become the god of fear and hunger is someone innocent who only knew evil in their life, much like Jesus who was sacrificed despite never having harmed anyone
amazing work as usual frap! really had me on edge with the narration even if it is just a silly little theory kinda like an arg or a creepypasta. well maybe not so silly now that i think of all the research you did haha... i'm waiting for the next lisa the painful stream
Ngl the true god of fear and hunger but makes me think that this is a fight against the God of the Depths. They were the original old god of fear and hunger and the new one could be seen as a usurper. The dungeon was built around the God of the Depths so the details add up there. It even fits with Mauthedoog’s theory on Traces since it’s a dying god.
Frapollo will milk all the fear and hunger juice to the last bit of it, and i'm gonna love it.

The line about creating the dungeon could mean it’s related to the god of the depths
Rag says these dungeons are the shifting organs of that god I believe
Awesome video and great sleuth work Frap :)
The whole video style with the altered voice over from you voicing 'Person' really gave me like, nostalgic vibes from old 'creepy' videos from eons ago, the theory for the ending is also rather sound I'd say, the whole 'We never left, this is an illusion' etc
Thank you so much! I'm happy you appreciated those aspects, it means I really was able to achieve something with this!
Those are interesting points! It has to be explored more!
I think that maybe person could be the god of the depths, being created from the darkness but people thinking he created it.
That's a possibility!
you know, that final battle makes me wonder why the god of fear and hunger resembles the husks in both texture and color. it looks like an advanced form of husk, kinda?
the person is clearly the developer
Seems like cut content to me, an idea for an ending that didn't quite play out correctly. The faceless could just be a placeholder sprite.
DAW, THE “PERSON” ENDING UP BEING YOU (theoretically) IS SO F’N INSANE TO ME
LITERAL SHIVERS BEHIND MY NECK
YES, I was hoping you'd cover it ever since I stumbled on a different video showing it off!
Nice! Hope you enjoy it!
another correlation with the vile is the fact that it is spraying fish with pesticides, its definitely related
Maybe, but it's not only that for sure!
Orange is now panicking someone found his secret stash.
Lol imagine
I mean who knows maybe the dev works on implementing that or rather expanding on that what is in the game at some point, maybe sometime after working on termina and I really like the theory it was very interesting to listen to^^
Thanks! Happy you liked it!
Maybe person was an Architect who built the dungeon before the incident in which it turned into what it is today. Maybe wanted to revive his father so he tried to contact the gods in which they created THE dungeon we know today and creating an entrance to mahabre? We know the person says "contrary to popular belief I did not create these dungeons, they created me"
After more research this theory is wrong, the dungeons were created before people shortly after mahabre
"Its an evil message, but it has to be said" I love that phrase! Its so underrated!
its funny because this kinda ties into a theroy about the sulfur god and all-mer kinda that when all mer ascended that another god was also created and so when the god of fear and hunger was created it was not the true god but just the whispers of it and the other god created was "hidden" from others etc. idk if that makes sense im tired
Huh it may be interesting to investigate more about that!
Just my take 🤷
Interesting!
Your dedication to the game is truly inspiring and admirable. Thank you, Frapollo! I literally got chills from how you narrate the dialogues, especially the last one
Awww I'm so happy you liked that part! It was a lot of fun!
The only bad thing about F&H 1 is that it ENDS!
We need more content of it, way more content, I can't stop wishing for more from this game.
Fear and hunger will NEVER end! There will always be new stories!
This video feels like those documentary-type deep dives into obscure gaming ARGs in the same vein as MyHouse.WAD, and I'm all here for it.
On a completely unrelated note, what's the music track you use for your outros?
Thanks! Outro music is black souls - battle of wonderland!
@@frapollo94 Thanks right back at you!
creepypasta video vibes lmao i love it
Happy you're feeling those vibes! I tried to go for that road!
Frapollo finding a simple silly file and realizing he can find a whole fuckin videos worth of content
Fear & Hunger demo on gamejolt: stonks
Oh I think I didn't arrive to that part in berserk! I stopped after golden age! Or maybe I just don't remember, but interesting!
"and you where skeleton and WROTE THIS!!"
The true god of fear and hunger is the dungeon we delves along the way
Honestly while this is super interesting, the idea of the girl not being the true god is super lame to me lmao
Why lame?
Ey ey ey, slow down. It's slowly going to turn into a creepy pasta.
That's what I wanted!
Gotta say, your presentation of this was amazing!
It really put me on edge, even though I was listening to it while cooking dinner
Thanks!
How could i possibly pay atention to the theory when frapollo is talking like that into my ears? 🥵
I wanted to create a tone more dark for this!
I cant tell if this is creepy pasta or actual ingame code that somewhat fits narratively since previous videos have mentioned these skipped battles and endings
This is in game code! I narrated it in a way to recreate a sort of story for it to seem a creepypasta!
@@frapollo94 damn your skills were good enough for me to not even realise if you were acting or not
I love this video! Its cool that someone is putting so much attention in to this game it definitely deserves it! Props to you my dude for once again being the real MVP!!!
Thank you!
Didn't even watch the video yet but I already know it's good
Awww thanks! Enjoy!
Interesting theory and your voice is very good for it. I wonder if there is
similar map in termina
Happy you liked the tone I made! It seemed more appropriate to me for this type of video than my usual one!
Have to say this is one of my favourite videos I love the lore based look it takes
Keep up the great work Frap
Thank you so much! I may do something similar if i Find other interesting topics!
the s ending of d'arc is named the true god of fear and hunger or some reason
Just a cool name I think!
That sounds like a creepypasta
I like that
Hell yeah!
Bae wake up new frapollo just dropped
Enjoy!
This version of the song is an APSOLUTE BANGER, I need it on my playlist
I am begging for Termina content
In the future my friend!
2:40 wait a mo... vile?
Literally what i thought
Finally Fear and Hunger creepypasta
Did someone ask Miro about this? Personally i think this is really interesting topic and theres not much info on it. Someone probably should ask his opinion.
the editing and writing was phenomenal, thank you for sharing this theory!
Thank you so much! Yeah no worries I'm happier if I know my content helps you relax!
5:37 Have you tried talking with bugs in that map?
iirc they don't say anything special, but imma try! Who knows, maybe there will be enough material for a part 2!
I’ve been craving for more fear and hunger lore and story, so I flipping love this video. Can’t imagine how long it took to put this theory all together but, it a awesome theory that fits with the really well fear and hunger game❤
Glad to know you liked it my friend!
it feels like a creepypasta! cool!
Yesss I appreciate you saying that, I tried to recreate that feeling!
this game reminds me of a line our main characters has said 'how little you know'
You introduced me to this game and now I'm obsessed w it😂I'm so impressed by your skills I've died 100s of times and just recently made it to the first save point. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get to Moonless without breaking both my legs jumping down that pit. Thinking about trying some of the other games you stream as well
You're welcome my friend! F&H is a game of knowledge, the more you learn, the stronger you will be!
This is immensely fascinating
Wonderful work again
Thanks!
I am actually surprised at how much content he can pull and still not make a single f&h2 video
You... probably missed the roblox video...
Roblox video? I thought that was f&h 3 alpha footage
Everyday I love your content more!
Awww thanks!
Love this video, you went trough so much trouble to gather all the info but it was worth it in the end! Great job!
Thanks!
Someone pointed out to talk with insects, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything relevant! Still thank you so much for your support!
Great editing on this one!
Awww thanks!
imma be honest, half the reason i got interested in this game is because of the way you say fear and hunger i love it
Awwww thanks xD
I love Frapollo's videos.
I love you too!
didn't ragnvaldr say the god of the depths controls the dungeons and IS the dungeons themselves? also for the "true" god of fear & hunger thing, i think it's talking about the idea of the ideology of fear & hunger which exists in the green hue just like every other idea in human existence. and it would make sense that it would acknowledge you because you delving into the dungeons and coming out more powerful than the average human is the literal embodiment of it's ideology so of course it would like that.
I love watching your videos man! Thank you so much for always making great content 🙏🏼
I’m excited for when you start making videos on Termina!
Thank you so much!
should have started the video lighting up a candle :P
I thought about it, but I don't think this is as good as Creepy Games :)
it is interesting that true god of fearn and hunger might either implies person is the god of fear and hunger but as person say ''i did not create the dungeons. they created me. Therefore you fight god of funger and when you win TRUE god of funger acknowledges you. or person is the true god of funger and such a being is mrely a construct of the dungeons that somehow occured naturally.
Fun video and theory but the background music made me constantly think there was a mosquito around me
I think it fit, also it was the music of that map so I felt it would'ver been more "complete" if I used that one!
I think you may discover more about these... negative feelings if you play termina!
I LOOVE YOUR VOICE WORK ESPECIALLY WITH "person"
THANKS
bro's like gaster of fear & hunger frfr
lmao true
Reckon you might consider making a mod to explore the discontinued ending?
Hmmmmmm we will see!
amazing work as usual frap! really had me on edge with the narration even if it is just a silly little theory kinda like an arg or a creepypasta. well maybe not so silly now that i think of all the research you did haha...
i'm waiting for the next lisa the painful stream
Thanks for the support! See ya on thursday!
So we go on the rabbit hole of rabbit hole of fear and hunger
Hell yeah!
