I go thrifting in upscale neighborhoods for my wardrobe. You can find a lot of quality pieces for little to nothing, and most are in really good condition!
This is what I do as well! I constantly get complimented on my appearance and wardrobe, with people thinking I spend much more than what I do on my clothes and accessories. I know how to shop for myself, and what type of classic pieces/staples to buy that can be rearranged with other items. Same for my daughter.
Esmeralda I agree. I actually own a small clothing eBay store and I thrift at the goodwill outlets and regular goodwill stores. I need to go to more upscale thrift stores outside of my area, I bet there is so much nice and trendy stuff to sell.
Here's something else: you can wear jeans but make sure they fit well. No saggy crotch, no gap in the back, stay away from low riders unless your stomach is super flat and not too tight where you look like a sausage. Also, do not underestimate the power of a white crisp shirt or a white fitted(cotton/stretch blend) tee shirt. You can wear a white top with black slacks, nice jeans, dark skirts etc. Throw on some chunky jewelry and voila! Instant elegance.
shera! you speak on alot of things I do and I tell my friend girls. so true example from my life I met my husband 3 months of dating and by the 4th month we we're married. And we have been married for 17 yrs. And when I'm out I always get called miss lady because I carry myself as a lady. Keep teaching shera!
Well, I do almost look messy and pajamas hair...but I work very hard....and busy.....and level up my mind and knowledge alot, but I will look like ---- guilty, very guilty here. I am really terrible , BUT i am a very nice helpful honest truthful person, that you can trust and build on....and I know alot....you can not compete with me the inner person I am....is the best.........BUT the outer me, need to look decent , like when I was younger ....and less busy and less obsessed with what I need to do to keep up with everthing......not with everyone....but with everything.......Life is really cruel. You dont get anything done, these days. but still Shera is right. Ohh gosh , I have never watched this video.....
I know this is an old video but if you just seeing this; Listen good bc Queen Shelia is giving absolute TRUTH. I noticed after COVID. I had stopped putting on makeup to go shop or run errands, stopped fixing up my hair and I was complaining about how racist all the stores around here are then - it clicked. They’re treating my like a bum bc I look like one. There’s a reason that our grandmas used to dress up to go to town. Sad but true. It’s a COMPLETE 360 now on my level up, people treat me like royalty, security opening doors instead of following me around… listen and do what she says, with or without a man- it will change your life.
I always do my hair, nails and makeup BUT I am guilty of wearing clothes that are very sexy. I’m 35 but love shopping at Fashion Nova, Hot Miami Styles, Go Jane, etc... my ex use to always tell me to cover up but I thought he was just being jealous and didn’t want men looking at me🤦🏽♀️ now I see it’s because he wanted me to look like a wife🤷🏽♀️
Lol. It's a phase. I am in my 27 and I kinda got over the sexy Instagram look. I know appreciate classy and elegant looks like Melania Trump. Screams high society to me and plus it would make you stand out most women don't dress like that.
I love these types of videos ! People always ask me why I dress up and wear make up and I tell them I dress to impress. You never know who you might meet right? x
Bella 09 yes! My coworkers are always watching to see what I'll have on everyday and commenting how I always look good, I just say thanks and wonder to myself why they don't do the same.
All FHAB I agree! They say the same to me. I'm in my 30s working my career with a family...so why would I look a mess everyday. plus with a 1 hr commute I have time to do my makeup every AM!
You are so right !! Some women didn't have the luxury of learning these serious things from their moms. It's wonderful that you are teaching these important things. My mom is the best and has taught me clothes do make the man so to speak. Class about class. God Bless you and stay classy. I am a new following.
Yes girl it was a wake up for me. Ive been so focussed on making sure my son, home, and finances and spirit are on point that I have neglected my physical appearance a bit. Not completely but it has definitely taken a back seat. I got myself together today and the response I got from not only men but women too was sooo nice! I will definitely take her advice on a little emergency kit for the 🚗 and hopefully meet more like minded people
This. It's not even about catching a man for me. It's simply about feeling happy with the way I look when I walk out the door. I've been on both sides. The attitude is so different when you leave the house with your face and clothes looking right. You tend to walk with your face held up instead of looking downwards. It's a small thing that can help you feel so much better.
At modeling school thru taught us to keep a bag with a nude heel black heel blazer, skirt, panty hose, nail polish remover, basic makeup, nude or light pink nail polish 💅 💄 and lotion 🧴 in it in case we get called for a job when we’re out. You can do the same in every day life.
I dress up and wear makeup everyday. I will say you do get treated better, you do get free stuff and ppl want to help you. It makes me sad to see girls out in pajama bottoms and scruffy flip flops just shuffling along. Hold your head up shoulders back. Do your best! It does make a difference.
now that i've watched your videos on and on..I've levelled up. I don't get out of the house without make up and looking pulled together. I went shopping and men and women were turnning their heads looking at me...and I was like wtf in the beginning. But then I was like...sure..I'm glammed up, sure they are going to look since they look ratched :)
Thanks for this video Shera! Dressing/presenting yourself with *intention* is one of my favorite topics. Sometimes as a young adult, I feel pressured to dress sexier and spend money on fast fashion. But like you, I firmly believe that building a more classic and put together wardrobe reaps benefits in almost all areas of our lives, including our relationships!
Yes you are so right...I have got very good treatment from men the door is all ways opened for me and nice treatment from people in the Department stores and restaurants you are right and I try to tell my friends that...
I don't get the people that go out in public looking scraggly and not put together. If someone does not have the money to dress classy, that may something they cannot control. But, for people that do have control over how they dress, it's no excuse. Showing up in Wal-mart or wherever with these ridiculous clothes on, I don't get it. Either they dont know how bad they look or I guess they just don't care. Even if you have a partner already I think we should still try to look put together when we go out in public whether it's at work or play.
urthebest1122 Indeed. I have a few health issues that really restrict what I can wear. I spend most time in sweats. But even so, they fit well, no rips or stains, my shirt matches, etc. I'm not cover girl ready, but I am not an embarrassment, either. And in the spirit of this channel, I don't have any trouble garnering male attention from desirable men!
This is so true. My man was finalizing his loan application for his new truck and the bank manager offered me a job just because I didn't leave the house looking any kind of way. I wasn't even looking for a job 🤣
But then again, I dunno know. My ex walked away from our relationship because i started my career and got really into makeup, dresses, etc. He said he didn't want a professional woman but someone who wasn't trying to impress others. Great advice, but i think it depends on the individuals involved. Wearing LOFT, and J Crew makes me happy. A woman should do this for her and herself only. If it attracts her ideal partner, that is icing on the cake.
That doesn’t surprise me. A lot of average men don’t like to compete with other men for a woman, which is why they like low-maintenance women. When you’re dolled up, you’re bound to get attention from other men, particularly men that may be better than he is, so he knows that he could lose you to someone better. Strong, confident men don’t care, and they get a boost when their ladies are getting positive attention. It’s a bit of a status symbol for them, because if they’re with a beautiful women, people assume that the men are “all that”.
LADIES STOP LOOKING CRAZY WHEN YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE!! ALWAYS BATHE, LOOK GOOD , SMELL GOOD.....MY PARENTS TOLD US NO PAJAMAS, NO BEDROOM SLIPPERS, NO SLEEP BONNETS,
I agree some women need to stop trying to squeeze into sizes too small. I see this much too often. Nothing wrong with buying your correct size and you'll feel more comfortable as well.
Muriel Perez : I’ve never understood the concept of squeezing into the smallest, tightest clothes just to brag internally to yourself. This makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. People notice the FIT, not the SIZE. On the opposite end, women who have lost significant weight need to be vigilant about evaluating their figures and trying on various sizes and styles of clothing to get flattering fit. Stop automatically reaching for the largest size on the rack! Sagging baggy clothes add visual weight and are a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. Get new bras and panties. Panties that are too big = MAJOR DISCOMFORT.
Momma taught me to always look my best at all times and I took that to heart. I don't give a damn if I'm just going to the grocery store. You never know who you'll meet or what you'll end up getting into at any time and when you look good, you feel good and more confident.
While I was growing up women dressed differently. They were more selective in their clothing, hair and makeup. Seeing a woman in rollers/ scarves/ bonnets were an exception instead of the rule.
When I wore a size 14 I had a stylist at Ann Taylor. She had me always looking my best for business and special occasions. When I put on an extra 15-20 pounds I became a size 16 (sometimes 18 in some cuts) and have a difficult time finding classic pretty styles especially tailored looks which is what makes me look my best with my body type. I dont have a figure without tailored clothes (but i do have a big bum...lol). Im working on losing this 20 lbs now so I can love shopping again.
I love your videos encouraging women to look their best. We are always told to put ourselves on the back burner and that is how you loose your confidence lowers your self esteem and makes you feel like your stuck. Yes, self- care, dressing, is part of general hygien. It has nothing to do about gaining attention or not in the public world. Clothes are cheap to sustain hygien.
Why can't I find a friend like this? All the advice she gives is things I knew already since a kid from people watching lol. Few things are new or learned something. Women I know go against all this advice except one.
Whenever I look pulled together, my family says it's too much. I live in a small town in Germany and everyone is just sooo casual, they even go to a wedding with black trousers and a blouse. I am called "Miss Butterfly" by my mom because I wear skirts and dresses and nice clothes instead of ill-fitting jeans and an old shirt
I see y some men marry strippers bc some of them have it pull together nails hair clothes shoes etc they arent materially emotionally mentally pulled together but they are pulled together on the outside. Im just saying dont be mean to me its whats in my area. Just saying...
Cherry Lu true. the exotic dancers understand femininity because of their line of work. if you watch interviews of dancers, they have to cultivate relationships with the customers to get bigger tips. They employ femininity & seduction to make money. The men pay to watch booty & titties and to experience flirtation from the women.
I can only understand five years if you’ve been dating each other since you were teenagers. If not, I agree with you that two years should be the maximum
This is apart of my Leveling up process and I love who I am becoming. Not even for guys but just so that I can feel more like a lady and not just a mom. I never get my hair or nails done but that is something that I am going to start doing. Pampering myself. Also Not dressing like a mom everywhere I go. Because I clean up well and when I put in the effort I stop cars! lol
as Maya Angelou said I am a woman phenomenally phenomenal woman that's me. no MATTER what you wear if you don't KNOW yourself without all the layers then dressing nice won't do anything. men approach me in sweats and regardless because I wear my Confidence in my Abilities not my looks. trust and believe you can look stuck up and dry so be yourself whether sweats or heels if you can't keep it real it won't matter
I always look forward to your videos. Great advice! I'm a strong believer of "first impressions count" a woman should always try to make the effort to feel and look her best as much as possible x
Love it.. love it. .. low hanging fruit just don't even bother ..they look from afar. .. Learn how to choose great fabrics and create capsules for each lifestyle demand ..keeps cost down and makes it easy to stay polished and or to easy select an outfit quickly. Great tips.. I immediately went out and purchased some gorgeous geox sneakers after your last video on the topic a few days ago... in a neutral shade... keep up the elevation and knowledge! !! thx
I love making myself up, however I don't think anyone a man or a woman has to be dolled up all the time. Life's too short we should all be bums from time to time. And if we are bums people shouldn't judge for the way we look
I agree. But clean and maintained, hair up in a cute ponytail, decent clothes(ditch the sweatstained tshirt, lol) can be just as nice as being all done up!
I find it hard to dress my body without looking skanky. Literally everything is made for straight up and down shapes and the few pieces that aren’t are prostitute clothes. I don’t have the money to tailor every single thing I buy. Any suggestions?
You know I get your point but I do these things for me first. I don't make these moves for these pathetic men out here. You will be busy waisting time and a money. I love and pamper me for me. Soemtimes you can do all this and find some men still dissatified and complaining. Sooo please I make moves to make me feel wonderful. My lord first, me, and maybe a man last.
I concur fully 100% ones presentation is every thing in how you carry yourself. Classy demeanor. I love the attention when I dress and how I am treated with compliments. Sometimes hates give attitudes which I ignore the negative energy.
Girl you’re so right about the tight clothes. I’m 19 and I want to show my figure and I’m learning that I can still show my figure without showing too Much
I dont know how women can not care about them selves, I have always cared about my appearance and the way i dress. I just need to work on finding a man that is good enough for me. Love your videos and straight forward advice.
Lol what the shit am happy I don't believe in love between man an woman so I won't have to worry about this shit life has taught me a lot an don't care how much u do for a man or how good u are to him he still going cheat an I think cheating is betrayal so I won't set myself up to be hurted no more I love the idea an benefits of loving what a man can do for me so that way I can probably benefit more an won't be heartbroken in the end if the betrayal comes!
I have a friend who waited 6 years but she thought it was so sudden and they got married 2 months after her engagement. But idk they are so young early twenties. I don’t think they will last they are already in financial debt and they just had a baby. They got married in April last year. I feel like they are not going to last. You have taught me a lot. And I will take your advice and not mess up.
Shera! i went to court today with a white button up short sleeve and pencil skirt and when i went home this old man called me sweet for holding door and looking at me for a long time he was with his woman who was looking boring and unkept! Im going to try to dress like that everyday
I go thrifting in upscale neighborhoods for my wardrobe. You can find a lot of quality pieces for little to nothing, and most are in really good condition!

This was hard to watch. I'm guilty of coming out the house any kinda way. No pajamas, bonnets, or anything like that...just not pulled together.
Chaun'Drea Clark Same. Especially when depressed.
Geneva Welch yep...depression will do it..especially clinical (chronic) depression.

i agree, classy attracts people that respect me and my standards.
In the Latino culture, a year is enough time for a man to know if he will wife you up or not. The men will usually propose at a year.
i noticed that. they waste no time
That sounds kind of hot. Maybe i need some latino.
Lies......depends on how desperate a man is!! Has NOTHING to do with Latino men.....lol!!
This very true one of my best friends got married only within knowing her husband just six MONTHS alone!

I can only understand five years if you’ve been dating each other since you were teenagers. If not, I agree with you that two years should be the maximum
I'm laughing so hard I can't breathe the helicopter hairdo
Love the added in pictures LOL!
This is apart of my Leveling up process and I love who I am becoming. Not even for guys but just so that I can feel more like a lady and not just a mom. I never get my hair or nails done but that is something that I am going to start doing. Pampering myself. Also Not dressing like a mom everywhere I go. Because I clean up well and when I put in the effort I stop cars! lol
Me I always save my friends nos with their names to help them remember they were people before they were married
as Maya Angelou said I am a woman phenomenally phenomenal woman that's me. no MATTER what you wear if you don't KNOW yourself without all the layers then dressing nice won't do anything. men approach me in sweats and regardless because I wear my Confidence in my Abilities not my looks. trust and believe you can look stuck up and dry so be yourself whether sweats or heels if you can't keep it real it won't matter
Even if you’re already married. Married women love freebies too!
I always look forward to your videos. Great advice! I'm a strong believer of "first impressions count" a woman should always try to make the effort to feel and look her best as much as possible x
omg that Berenstain bear caption with the hair bonnet was great😂😂😂😂😂love this video!!
my ex angrily asked why I always have to dress like I'm.going to a meeting..
🙄🙄
Love it.. love it. .. low hanging fruit just don't even bother ..they look from afar.
!! thx
Watching your videos daily have given me a rise in confidence. Thank you so much for the content you share ❤️
I love making myself up, however I don't think anyone a man or a woman has to be dolled up all the time. Life's too short we should all be bums from time to time. And if we are bums people shouldn't judge for the way we look
Sara Jack ,🙏👏 Amen
I agree. But clean and maintained, hair up in a cute ponytail, decent clothes(ditch the sweatstained tshirt, lol) can be just as nice as being all done up!
Your opinion is the opinion of an ugly creature: PEOPLE ARE GONNA JUDGE YOU BY THE WAY YOU LOOK
No I enjoy dressing up lmao never bummy
Life is too short to be bummy and live a bum life lol leave the comfy ness for the bed lazy
Girl you have me wanting to try color contacts and my eyes are already hazel! LOL keep shining
Your eyebrows give me life 😍😍😍
"Rolled out of the back of someone's truck" 😂
ITA @ about 10:40. I have learned that tinted moisturizer and a lightly tinted lip balm saves lives.
I concur fully 100%
ones presentation is every thing in how you carry yourself. Classy demeanor. I love the attention when I dress and how I am treated with compliments. Sometimes hates give attitudes which I ignore the negative energy.
Love this video! Low key hilarious 😂 Your picture choice... Real tears 😭
Girl you’re so right about the tight clothes. I’m 19 and I want to show my figure and I’m learning that I can still show my figure without showing too
Much
Bwahahahahahahahahaha I swear i love you💃💃💃💋💋💋💋💋
I dont know how women can not care about them selves, I have always cared about my appearance and the way i dress.
Do not tell your age
I love your honesty. You are like the older sister trying to help.
5 years ? Hell no let’s say 1 1/2 - 2 years
6 months
Look like a high class goddess
loove the examples on background !!
The more a woman smiles the more men are drawn to that you know better
I have a friend who waited 6 years but she thought it was so sudden and they got married 2 months after her engagement. But idk they are so young early twenties. I don’t think they will last they are already in financial debt and they just had a baby. They got married in April last year. I feel like they are not going to last. You have taught me a lot. And I will take your advice and not mess up.
When I leave the housr, I look like I've been in a tornados
Yeeahh, me too, I am really terrible......I used to look like a decent and well dressed lady.....not anymore, when you are tired all the time.
