  • What's the best DIM DIY welder? Should we get a TIG, should we get a MIG, MMA, and what about 110v, 220v, or both? In this video we go over the decision process based on what it will need to weld - What do we need it to do? What would we like it to do? How do we meet our cost goals? Can we get one that will do everything for under $700, for under $500. We show examples of the kind of work we need it to do now with an eye on future DIM DIY projects as well as our current Scout II repairs/restoration. How do these tasks translate into what features we need and what is the best welder to do this?
    PS -
We are very happy with our final decision having already done months of welding based on that decision. Before deciding on a specific brand and model of welder it was important to know what this video covers. We will go into detail specifics of why we chose a particular make and model as part of separate welder review videos.
    Hope it helps you.
    Final Thought - IMO
An experienced welder can use a crappy machine and compensate for it
A great machine won't compensate for inexperience
It will help us as we learn proper technique as we gain that experience.
