I wish I could afford SkillShare, but since I can't I just use UA-cam to teach me anything I want to learn. You can literally find any kind of video on UA-cam. That's how I thought myself how to crochet. 😊💖💐⭐
woow I can't believe that there was only one, only ONE philo in this selection! Not only your plants grow, but also you as a person and with it your interests in different plant genes and this was such a fun, diverse selection to watch! loved them all!!! xoxo Kat 😚
I recommend rooting the holiday cactus in perlite and not water! I have the regular none variegated though but every time I’ve tried water it just gets rotten, but perlite have worked really well! ✨
The begonia is wicked!! I am still on the search. You look so beautiful Fern, lovin your hair, the cut is perfect. Hope you and Shane have a wonderful holiday ♥️💚✨
What a treat this video was!! You can totally tell how much joy these plants brought you 🥰 such lovely plants! Way to grow them! Esp the Thai! What a journey 🤣
Dear fern, I feel very connected with you because I'm a long time crochet'er but a just starting plant parent! I also love learning new things and wish you the best of luck with you crochet journey! I am very curious about what thing do you want to make? ❤ Have a lovely day and thank you for lifting my spirits in hard times🌱
GIRL! FIRST OFF: YOUR PLANTS ARE INCREDIBLE!!! WOW! I remember you at the BEGINNING of your plant journey channel!!! 🎉YOU 🎉 were the ONE that influenced me to get a Variegated Holiday Cactus!! AND I ADORE MINE !!! Thank you for always sharing amazing content! I love your channel, Olive, your vibe! Cheers!
Schlumberga was my first plant a few years ago (which I also killed, but I was young and stupid 😅) and even that the only thing I did was watering, it gave me soooo many blooms! R.I.P. little one 😄 The variegated one is beautiful, feels like it’s on my 2024 wish list!
So jelly of your esqueletto!! “Finally have one easier to hold and more manageable to show you” - as we can’t see Fern behind the bush at all.. I’m trying to find another Jaklyn, I transferred mine into semi hydro and it either went into dormancy or died, we’ll see in the spring if it comes back or not, not a single leaf on it
Love your featured plants and see the joy that they bring you. I just brought 2 Alocasia Jacklyns yesterday listed for $15 but marked down to $9 each from Lowe's. They're only 4" tall and were beat up with broken stems, but I'm hoping for the best. Thanks for sharing your favorites with us.
All great choices my Thai constellation is my favourite plant so beautiful and I love my linearis. Hope you successfully root the thanksgiving cactus 🤞. X
Thanks so much for this lovely video! You have such a wonderful collection so I loved seeing which plants gave you extra joy this year! I treated myself to a Thai Con as an early Christmas present and I'm so happy I did, it's already given me it's first leaf with fenestrations 💚
I love pings also!🥲💸 Since you like the cyclosecta I recommend a hybrid of it called Pinguicula moranensis var. alba ‘Molango’ x cyclosecta and Pinguicula leilani. They’re both a lighter purple and they’re my favorites in my collection. And another that’s really colorful is Pinguicula laueana CP2 x emarginata.🙂
Hi Fern, great video, love all your choices! Your variegated schlumbercya is stunning! What is the potting soil mixture you are using for her? Do you keep her moist all time?
Your Christmas tree looks amazing!!!! ❤🎄 - I fell in love with P. Majestic by seeing you grow yours. It's so stunning ✨ on my top 3 wishlist plants for sure
Beautiful plants! You asked about moss poles: I felt that my DIY mesh poles were drying out too fast, so I ordered some Grow Vertical poles (like Sydney Plant Guy uses) from Australia. They are quite sturdy and large, while still having that plastic backing. I like that I can see all the roots with the clear plastic option. Cons - Lots of visible zip ties, though not an issue if the plant is full enough to hide them, and some of the black paint on the wire mesh front was coming off on my hands when I was assembling, which made me worry that it would come off during watering, but it hasn't they are still black and I haven't seen any rust.
Love this video (as I love all your videos )! Your variagated Thanksgiving cactus is stunning! I'm so sorry it got damaged! But they root really easily especially if they have a little extra humidity! It might be a blessing in disguise 💚🌿🤍
Fun fact ❤I totally just snagged a variegated Christmas cactus the MOMENT I seen yours! I remember when you got the cutting and I thought it was cute but didn’t love it like I love it now! You picked some wonderful favs of the year!!!❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊😊
Idk, the thai con will forever be on my list of favorites. She makes me work :DD (brought my first thai con back from severe rot this year, and adopted a second one because I was so sure my first one would just die on me) The syngonium albo is also so stunning! I had mine on a mosspole but then ended up making the same decision as you to just chop and prop to have a lush shrub moment.
Don’t cut the bud!! I took cuttings from my mother in laws Christmas cactus (not variegated) several weeks ago and it’s blooming! I doubt it has roots yet lol but idk. I really love the leaves on the Jacklyn but I don’t have room for her to get that big!! 😨 but you know my logic will probably go out the window one day when I see a good deal on one lmao. Thanks as always for the video!! 💜 Tamara
Absolutely amazing plants, they're my favourites in your collection, too. You have the best collection out of every other youtuber in general. Your plants are just incredible
They will move into their wintering phase on their own, and you will notice the leaves change and become almost like a succulent. They become super compact and thick. I’ve only had one do that, so I pulled it out of its water reservoir, and just gave it a tiny bit of water every now and then. Once it got warm it started growing those bigger paddle like leaves, and I knew that it was time to put it back in its reservoir. So don’t worry about it unless they tell you!
I'm waiting for you entering more in the orchids World! ❤ Your vídeos are awesome! Love all your plants! My thai constellation is also one of my top 3 😂
I’m sorry to hear about your thanksgiving cactus. The same thing happened to me, my very full Argyraeus came crashing down and lobbed off a vine from my N’Joy that I’ve been trying to grow all year. Then instead of dealing with it, I put it back, and down it came once again! 😳 I’ve since put my Argyraeus in a heavy cover pot so it will stay put!
I will always remember yourJoys Liniares when I just started watching your channel. And now it’s paid off with all your hard work! Loved all your plants. 💚🪴💚
Fern! These are stunning! I think I am most impressed by the begonia Thurstonii! I have been searching for one since I saw yours earlier this year, no luck yet, but I have all my extremities crossed to find it one day. This video reminded me to appreciate the plants that I have and slow down a bit. Thanks!
I love your channel. I've been watching since you started! The following comment is about the general direction of every Rare House Plant channel I follow - I REALLY MISS the educational vlogs!!! I mean it's lovely and interesting to see your plant collections and favorites or never-buy-agains, but it seems the basic info to the specific anecdotes of how you grew, saved, propped, or otherwise learned about the plant is the content of a bygone era. Maybe you covered it in part of another vlog, and feel like you're repeating, but for us amateurs, we then have to do searches, and that rarely works. Does anyone else feel the same way?
This is a really good point and has given me a lot to think about. Are there any topics/plants you’d specifically like to see me talk about? I appreciate your feedback. Thank you 🫶🌿
In my experience, thanksgiving cactus roots very quickly and easily in water, also in perlite! I’m sure soil works too (?) but I’ve just never tried that because I like to see the roots! So don’t fret, she will be okay! 🌵❤ Also I love your content and your collection it honestly inspires me especially when I’m feeling that seasonal depression, which can keep me from caring for my plants as well. But! I see your gorgeous plants and get inspired to try and be as successful! So thanks for that!
OMG I love your Magestic, I got one a few months ago after seeing yours, it's still little but I hope it glows up like yours! And the pengs are so cute, I may have to make some room in my planty box terrarium thing.
Looking at your alocasia Jacklyn. Wow it has really grown this year, but look at your hair and how much it has grown❤! I cannot grow the Jacklyn. Period!! Keep it in a pebble tray, mist at least every other day, still dies 😢. Your plants are all beautiful!!
I bought a baby variegated Christmas cactus after seeing Yours , and it’s 4 times the size now ! I wonder what color the floweres will be . So glad I saw it first here tfs ❤
I agree. Thai constellation is shockingly underrated compared to the hype that surrounded the Albo. It never reverts and grows like a weed. I prefer the variegation as well.
Love this vlog. I got monstera deliciosa albo and early this year I tried the electroculture method and guess what, it's giving great vibes to my plants! I wish you could try it too. Anyways, I'd love a second part of this video!
My Favorite's are P. Majastic (the magic moment if you noticed the leaf surface of a new leaf in Light🤯🤩) Lemon Tree (got new smelling blossoms and Lemons for Christmas xD ) P. Splendid Flowering old Crassula Ovata Bonsai Syngonium Tricolor Syngonium Rayii Alocasia Black velvet (my first Alocasia iv'e got) Monstera Thai Constellation (Finally iv'e got one🥰)
I had to stop watching this video 2 times now because the first plant was your begonia thurstonii. I got my hands on one back in October and it wasn’t in great shape when it arrived. I thought it would bounce back but the freaking thing just continued to brown further and further down. It was sooo depressing. But I’m over it now and vow to try again. She is so beautiful I just have to have a thriving one in my collection at some point.
Ongelooflijk mooi❤ Wat doe je dat je planten zo groot worden en gezond blijven. Kan je tips geven . Planten voeding of speciale potgrond?? Veel groetjes uit Nederland ❤
Yay that you started crocheting! I must warn you though, it's addicting 😉 Some plant things that you can make are plant cozies and hangers (I struggle with following macrame patterns but have easily made really cute boho looking crocheted hangers). Love all of the plants in this video and sending well wishes to your variegated Thanksgiving cactus to recoup!
NIce collection. I like what you are going with the syngonium. I"m thinking of moving mine to a window box planter to do something like you have done. I'm about ready to do it as this fall I chopped mine up and have about 50 wetsticks growing nicely. As for the Pinguicula - you said you wanted to get a larger one. I'd suggest the Pinguicula laueana CP2 x emarginata - if youj can find it in Canada. It gets a nice red/violet under good light. Mine is about 3"" or 8 cm in diameter and just now sending up a bloom.
Just looked up that Ping and it’s gorgeous! Definitely would love to have it. Don’t see any sellers for Canada but I’ll be keeping my eye out. Thanks for the suggestion and good luck with your syngonium :)

They are all so beautiful. Your collection brings me joy too 😂🎄🎁🌿❄️🎀

Your Thai con is easily one of the most beautiful ones I’ve seen 😮
I haven’t understood the hype but when I see yours, I get it 😍
What a treat this video was!! You can totally tell how much joy these plants brought you 🥰 such lovely plants! Way to grow them!
Esp the Thai! What a journey 🤣
from watching the comical repot that the Thai rotted, I NEVER thought she would make it here. so proud of how far she's come!! looks amazing
Agreed!! It’s shocked me lol!
I was so excited to see your Thai on this list. She was worth the struggle. gorgeous.
Such a fun video to watch. Sparked a new interest in some new plants for me. Good job. ❤
You influence my wish list more than anyone! We have all the same taste and your plants are so gorgeous. 😍
Omg that stand is gorgeous!!!
You've leveled up!! There's so many planty UA-camrs that just seem to not learn anything through their journey. You're one of the few that learns!
Those Thai leaves are amazing, such gorgeous color 🍃🌹🌿
Dear fern, I feel very connected with you because I'm a long time crochet'er but a just starting plant parent! I also love learning new things and wish you the best of luck with you crochet journey! I love your Begonia❤ she's big and beautiful 🌿🌼
Stick the holiday cactus in water and it will probably still bloom! Mine have done that. They are super easy to root/prop 😊
Look at Sydney plant guy..his cebu blue is HUGE on a moss pole..might help ID it ❤❤❤
It's so interesting how you form these relationships with your plants. I also could just pick my favorites intuitively.
Please do a video about your variegated holiday cactus ❤️
I sure can! thanks for watching :)
@@wildfernyay thank you so much i just got a variegated christmas cactus and there are no videos anywhere about either of them.
@@wildfern I believe it's actually a Christmas cactus. I have the same one.
All great choices my Thai constellation is my favourite plant so beautiful and I love my linearis.
Hope you successfully root the thanksgiving cactus 🤞. X
What beautiful plants! I love them all!
Hello Fern hope you're having an awesome
Do you sell cuttings. I really want a linaris but it’s so hard to find. 😢
My Linearis bloomed for the first time last summer. I hope yours blooms this summer for you.
This was everything! Thank you! Your collection is just goals! ❤

That Thanksgiving cactus is awesome! But I also have to say all the other plants are really amazing too. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching :)
I’d love to know where you got the recycled skateboard plant stand. 💛✨
SAME!! It’s so cute! 😍
That Thanksgiving cactus was beautiful. Loved seeing pinguicula in there too
Thank you so much!! 😊

Ahh thank you!! 😊
Such beautiful plants!! ❤️
Love your plant collection it is stunning!!!❤❤❤ Have a great week!! See you in your next video!!!!
They’re all beautiful 💚. I can see why they made your top 10 list.

Your hair is cute. I love the cut and color...looks great on you, you wear it well🤟🌈⭐
Thank you 😊
My butterworts have been such a surprise. They have beautiful, dainty purple, violet-shaped flowers.
YAAAAS gosh I love your thurstonii. This list was amazing!
PS love seeing you so happy and thriving :)
Ordinary schlumbergeras root pretty easily, I think it's not gonna be a problem and you will have more branches 💚
Love this video (as I love all your videos )! Your variagated Thanksgiving cactus is stunning! I'm so sorry it got damaged! But they root really easily especially if they have a little extra humidity! It might be a blessing in disguise 💚🌿🤍

Oh my that hanka is so frickin cute!
Every time i see a video with a plant on a pole in tempted, but they just look like so much work to get it going.
They are quite a bit of work, but sooo satisfying to see them root in a size up :)
Absolutely amazing plants, they're my favourites in your collection, too. You have the best collection out of every other youtuber in general. Your plants are just incredible

If you increase your light on the linearis your peduncles ought to make you some blooms.
Thank you, Fern! Love your enthusiasm!
Wow! Your Syngoniunm Albo and your Jacklyn....amazing! Thanks for sharing all your beauties with us Fern. 👌🏼🥰
You are so welcome! 🤗
Your xmas tree looks so nice!🎄

Your esqueleto is stunningly beautiful 🤩. I think the esqueleto is by far more beautiful than the adonsonii.
Hi Fern, great video as usual! FYi, the holes in leaves are perforations, and the splits are fenestration. Wishing you a Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️
That makes sense - thank you! Merry Christmas 🎄😊

Thank You ! You inspire me a lot! God Blees You And Your Green Hands ! 👍
They are all so beautiful but that variegated Christmas cactus is to die for 😊
Thank you! I am so happy to have it in my collection 😊 was worth the wait.
OMG I love your Magestic, I got one a few months ago after seeing yours, it's still little but I hope it glows up like yours! And the pengs are so cute, I may have to make some room in my planty box terrarium thing.
That huge Jacklyn is so gorgeous! Any tips on how to take care of Alocasia? Always managed to kill a LOT of them 😢
I love how narrow the fenestrations on the Epipremnum NoID are!
Thank you :)

Thank you so much! 😊

! I wonder what color the floweres will be . So glad I saw it first here tfs ❤
Thanx!
Love your linearis, it inspires me to really put effort into mine which is new
Merci de nous avoir montré de belles plantes, heureuses de croître. I agree. Thai constellation is shockingly underrated compared to the hype that surrounded the Albo. It never reverts and grows like a weed. I prefer the variegation as well.
That variegated cactus! Need one now.
that variegated schlumbergera is nice... graft it onto some dragon fruit stock... that's what we do for our rare hybrids...
Totally agree. I loooooooove my esqueleto 😍
Love this vlog. I got monstera deliciosa albo and early this year I tried the electroculture method and guess what, it's giving great vibes to my plants! I wish you could try it too. Anyways, I'd love a second part of this video!
😮 thought your variegated dragon scale would make the list!
I was considering it 👀
My Favorite's are
P. Majastic (the magic moment if you noticed the leaf surface of a new leaf in Light🤯🤩)
Lemon Tree (got new smelling blossoms and Lemons for Christmas xD )
P. Splendid
Flowering old Crassula Ovata Bonsai

Happy New Year. love your videos! You inspire me very much. Am so envious of your beautiful Hoya Linearis. beauty! Do you ever sell cutting of it?
If you use African violet food on your holiday cactuses, they do amazing
That’s great to know - thank you!
Yay that you started crocheting! I must warn you though, it's addicting 😉 Some plant things that you can make are plant cozies and hangers (I struggle with following macrame patterns but have easily made really cute boho looking crocheted hangers).
