The Future Of Installing Plumbing Pipes!

- In this ASMR Plumbing video, I am installing new pipework underneath the floors to a new radiator using the best materials I could find. Instead of running copper underneath the floors and notching every single joist, I’ve decided to run the pipework in MLCP which is a multi layered pipe. The system is Tigris from wavin who makes some real quality plumbing materials.
Using this pipe means that there is no hot works as you are using a press gun on the Tigris fittings and copper press. This means that it’s able to use in some scenarios like schools police stations, hospitals anywhere where you don’t have to set fire alarms off or the risk of causing a fire which does make your insurance much cheaper especially if you’re doing pipework in a roof space.
The press gun I’m using is a Ridgid 241 which is super compact it comes with lots of different jaw profiles and the ones I’m using in this setup are U and M. The copper pipe is 15 mm and the mlcp is 16mm. I really think this is the future of Plumbing pipes instead of running copper all the way through the floors as the quality of copper has really downgraded in the last couple of years I found I’ve had many leaks in brand-new pipes and using this type of pipe, I can’t see having that same issue as it’s got a metal barrier on the inside.
The mlcp is so much better quality than the standard plastic pipe and fittings that just push over the top using a O ring and a grab ring. These fittings have an internal seal which is clamped using pneumatic pressure. I know it can be expensive, but I do think that the pros outweigh the cons heavily.
Using my Monument pipe benders on the copper pipe allows me to reduce fittings which increases flow rate and the chances of having a leak is very very small I think this is the future. Let me know what you think. If you like today’s Plumbing video, please give it a like comment down below subscribe with your new and I’ll see you on the next one.
What a tidy, professional install. Great to see someone that takes pride in their workmanship 👏👌
Really appreciate it mate! Hope you liked the cideo
Such an enjoyable style of video you make. I’m an electrician and it’s great to see someone doing their trade and taking pride in doing a quality job.
Thanks jimbo I’m glad you liked it, slow start but got to the good stuff. Filming the connection this week 👍
Your videos are never boring.
Thanks pat I try and make them as notable as possible!
Love watching the jobs you do....very tidy too. Love the compression tool...worth it IMHO.
Hey tracyyy thanks for following my channel buddy! With this pipe you don’t need sleeves as the fittings have the seal on inside with a stub if that myakes sense. It’s mlcp which is a multi layer pipe with a metal lining
MLCP for the win, never had an issue using it 🤘😎🤘
I've seen many plumbing videos, but have to say you really take pride in your work.
Thanks zaheid I try my best!
Water Lego, you do yourself and the skill you display a discredit, nice to see such craftsmanship in action. Thank you, I'm learning more every day.
No worries Steve I’m glad you liked it
I like that pipe hanger/support. Went to a house the other week and the pex heating pipes were flopping about on the plasterboard ceiling touching the down lights 🤪
Yeah I thought I would go into the job using the best materials I could 👊👊
Putting hanger supports in a completely empty void between floor and ceiling below is unnecessary as the pipe even when full of water will not cause the ceiling to sag. Looks good but no one will ever see it!!
lovely job x
Thanks buddy ❤
I really liked this video, it’s simple, exact and very interesting, please make more like this, it’s mesmerising to watch you work!! 👍🏾
Will do buddy I’m doing a part 2 this week where I connect to heating system 👊👊
I'm surprised in the description you say you've had leaks in new copper pipes 😮 as a DIYer wanting the best for my house i always use copper, it saddens me that even though I'm doing the extra effort it might be in vain! Loving the videos mate 👊🏻
Yeah I’ve had pin holes in brand new copper before! Was crazy!
Outstanding!!
Nice little job
Pucker job fella! 🙌🏼
Thanks bro really appreciate the watch!
Happy new year, mate.
Wish you loads of brilliant content on your channel this year.
Thanks mate I’ll just keep posting and see what happens!
Happy New year to you and ur family
Awesome videos
Keep up the excellent videos
Thank you very much dino! Happy new year and wish the family all the best! Keep watching and I’ll get better! 👊
Great work yet again mate 😁
Appreciate it buddy
Great job Bro.
Thanks buddy 👍
Hello great video. Can you kindly list the names of the connectors you used please. If possible tools and materials be better. Thanks
Hey thanks! The kit I’m using is from wavin, Tigris mlcp pipe and fittings, Check out this page from mmplumber www.amazon.co.uk/shop/mmplumber?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_aipsfshop_A8CDC5PPHGMKZTRR6YEH&language=en_US
In Poland, we have been using these pex pipes for at least 15 years. And we don't have to make a pex-copper connection to the radiator, because the valves are also 16mm on pex (safer)
It defo makes sense we need to adapt with the times for sure!
PSW TRADESUPPLIES have them
This is superior to PEX. PEX can’t be compared to MLCP pipe. Yes 16mm OD but not the same.
Have been using mlp 20 years now you can get copper/ Chrome tails for rads that press straight on to the pipe
Same in italy
just ordered my press gun , have no idea on what are the best fittings price and qaulity are a factor what do you recommend would be gratefull and what supplier do you use
Could always start with the well known brands like xpress, conex etc I just use these cause that’s what my local merchant sells
Hy !
I’m studying plumbing and it’s a real pleasure to see your job…
Thank you very much.
how do you bend copper without annealing it ?
And where can i buy the tool you use please ?
I think it’s the uk copper we use, where are you from?
@ ok. I’m from France.
As usual great quality plumbing but while PEX has advantages it’s not great for flow rates because of the restriction.
Fine while you have a nice boiler run system however potentially not so great if they want to switch to a heat pump if the pipe work cannot support the required flow rates. Not that I’m a massive fan of heatpumps but in my house I’m planning for an eventual installation so want to make sure it’s got minimal disruption when it eventually happens because that’s the way they are pushing us.
These pipe is mlcp which is petter than pex, should last longer than copper as well!
A long time to prove it will outlast copper, would never use anything else but copper, call me old fashioned, but plastic just doesn't look like it will withstand the same conditions, why fix what's not broken?
No puedo hacer mucho aporte técnico, pero si agradecer de todo lo que se aprende en cada video, manteniéndonos al día en los cambios que se producen en los oficios.
Thank you! I really mean that! Means a lot that people watch and enjoy 👊👊👍
Great !
Thanks mate!
I’ve plumbed a whole house with that system. It’s great but the fittings are way to expensive. I then found a less expensive fitting for transitioning to copper. It’s a compression fitting to transition from 16mm mlcp/barrier pipe to 15mm copper. But all the rest of the fittings like the elbows and couplers are expensive.
Let’s hope there good quality!
Fascinating video, first time I ever heard of MLCP. In your another of video, rodents ate a plastic fitting under floorboards, would they like MLCP too?
They might do but it’s metal barrier inside, never seen it be attacked before
What brand is this laser level? Thank you
Huepar 👊👊
@ thank you 👍
Great video
Glad you liked it
I'm not a pro, but I'm wondering why you didn't stick a pipe right in the radiator, why did you use a copper piece?
Because it’s not normal to do that in uk
Think the laser was a bit unnecessary but other than that nice job.
It does help buddy
video saved!!
Glad you liked it mate!
Have u got a recommendation for a good set of mlcp cutters please
Knipex do some nice compact ones, these monument ones are bit big
@mmplumber have u got a link please
Let's go Bosch! AmpShare
Love ampshare and fein 👊 all battery tools should use one battery
@@mmplumber awesome man. Ima fan of your videos. You do clean work!
I really appreciate that mate! There’s always some method in the madness I try to do clean work and show it off well but sometimes not in control of things not going to plan! We all human!
Love the vids !
I really appreciate it! Thank you!
Really enjoyed your video you can always see when someone takes pride in their work, I’m a plasterer so probably a silly question but can you tell me what’s the tool that dispenses the grey adhesive on the rad valve, much appreciated.
I would hate your job! Fair play to you lads that do it! It’s a tool for flux but I fill it with jointing paste. Fluxuator
Another excellent video. Thanks for sharing. Happy 2025.
Thanks brain really appreciate it hope you liked the format! Happy new year to you and family
Any differences between brands of MLCP? Wavin, Tweetop, Multipipe etc? Have you looked at or used Rautitan Stabil on a project before?
I think it’s all similar to be honest I just went for a more well known company
Whats that tool you use for doping
It’s called a fluxuator
That sealing gunk you put inside the threads on the radiator will probably clog up some thermostatic valve seats and stop them working properly.
Ah never had a problem with doing it
Did you have to buy the next size down in the wera joker range to get onto the rad tails 16-19mm)?
Yeah I use the L for rad tails
hey, why do you use Loctite and X Pro Gripaloc thread together? The connection is more secure when you use them together?
In my head the liquid will fill any gaps
We are using MLCP in Ireland with yrs its top quality product
I do really like it
good work. I think you are correct, the quality of copper has deteriorated over the past few years. Although I love getting the blow torch out I've been moving over to Press fit more. Including asmr.
I love using copper but I’ve had pin holes in bigger sizes I’ve just lost confidence
I’ve been using REMS press gun now for 20 years and thinking of upgrading. Any suggestions or videos coming up on different press guns.
I’ve had a novo, used a rems, the novo is nice if you have Milwaukee gear I just fancied something different
20mm MLCP. I sometime also use the 16mm end of the rolls off UFH jobs, where other throw them in the skip.
What fittings and pipe would you use for underfloor etc to use on heating and hot and cold? Uponor?
@@mmplumber I use various pipes and fittings. Uponor are more costly than those I get from sites like Plumb2U or Natural Green Heat. The brands are mostly imported from Poland and other EU countries. Pert-Al-pert mainly, they sell all the fittings and sizes. When I buy it's normally a bulk order with a variety of stuff to re-stock. Small order like copper press I get from the merchants.
@@mmplumber You can use MLCP on secondary returns. The pipes are stable for hot water systems
Thanks for the introduction to MLCP, very interesting. Can I ask why you and other professionals consider push fit systems to be less professional. If installed cleanly and correctly, aren't they just as reliable?
In my head your relying on a grab ring and rubber o ring for a seal, the seal is on the outside of the pipe. With mlcp the rubber is inside and it’s crimped together using pneumatic force which I think it’s a much better connection
In my house the previous owners had the plumbing mostly installed in speed fit, which is largely fine, but the installers (I don't think it was an actual plumber) used all speed fit stop taps etc. they are flimsy and have leaked at the connections with washing machine/dishwasher. The ease of use leads to inexperienced people installing them poorly and taking shortcuts
Where can i grt that ratchey shifting spanner/wrench.....so much better...
amzn.to/3PtV0Tx
Proper neat job MM and your flies were closed! 😅
Haha I’m glad I’m learning to dress myself correctly 🤣🤣
@mmplumber well done 👏
Hi danke wieder für deine tolle Tipps.
Wollte wissen ob du dein Kreuzlinienlaser weiter raten würdest?
For plumbing 100% Huepar ❤
Where is your tool store list?? I gotta grab that flexible water bucket thing. Anybody??

Hi great little video, what brand is the mounting system you use under the floor.
Thanks bud these are from monsterplumb but they based off the wallraven kit
Great video! Which laser level do you use? Also, what is the black three-way object use used on the plastic pipe? Thanks!
I use one from huepar and the tool is a deburrer
@@mmplumber Thanks. Love the underfloor pipe supports! Amazing work!
real fun and a learning experience ty keep it up. also what hand drill did u use?
Thanks! I’m using the kit from fein 👊👍
Don’t like mlcp, think of the plumber who comes in after you and doesn’t have the gear to make a repair.I’ll use copper until my hand is forced.same for press i don’t like it.fittings are too big and it costs too much.
Great vid though mate
Glad you like the video mate, I suppose that’s my job for life then on this one 🤣🤣👍
I get it don’t get me wrong.Bute line never really took off either but mlcp seems to have grown some legs here in the last few years so maybe it’s here stay
in europe use mlcp id use it looping back manifolds no joints and do all above floor
Class mate good if I had access to do that but I love that idea of plumbing
The future? You’ll have to need to catch up on the trade my friend 🤣
What you mean pal
What you think of the manual press tool much cheaper yes can be heavy and big
I dunno if I got the guns to use a manual one and probs a lot of room for error
Loctite 55 - Pipe Sealing Cord has a liquid sealant on the cords. Why use extra sealant?
Just in case, I’ve done it before and works lovely
Better than plastic for long runs with no joints, but still doesn't look as good as polished soldered copper. I do a lot of uponor first fixes for modular high rise builds.
How do you get on with it? I would fit copper but the quality these days is terrible
What is that type of spanner call it's cool
Wera joker XL 👊
In France we use these type of pipe since many years
Oh really? We must be very behind
In Russia we use pipes like these more than 20 years. We have gost 32415-2013 about it. It like ISO in Europe or ANSI in USA.
@@mmplumber yeah you are ;) watched many of these "plumping repair videos" / shorts... and i just thought "wow, i were the last generation who learned this" - and thats 25yrs ago.
press fittings are "standard" since ~20yrs i think, and multilayer composite pipes in many many different versions since 15yrs maybe
greetings from germany
Do you know any good plumbers in South East Wales, as I live in a 10 year old house built by those cowboys Barrett's and have multiple plumbing issues.
Sorry bro I’m close but don’t think I’m close enough!
Hi. What are your thoughts on Chinese press fittings?
Used these embrass and peerless ones for years with no problems
@ how many years? I’ve used them a bit recently and the green plastic on them in my opinion is a really good idea.
I think about 2 mate to be honest but never seen a problem using them
@ nice one thanks. 👍
Genuine Question
Why use griploc with 55?
Surely the 55 with the non hardening compound
With the griploc with hardening compound counteract
each other?
I use 55 myself and sometimes with a little jetlube
But never with locker as it does harden.
I interest in your thoughts 👍🏼
The thread locker seals hard and the tails went to far in with just the liquid so I just packed it out with the thread, I’ve had good success doing this way so thought why not 🤷♂️🤣
@ 👍🏼 Fair enough 🤷🏼♂️ just never done it and wondered was there a specific reason for doing it.
I’ve used liquid ptfe before which is grand until you need to remove it again 🤦🏼♂️ disaster 😂
What are the connections at 11:15 brother?
It’s a Wavin Tigris 16mm to 15mm brass tail
@ thank you
My builder wants to replumb in full plastic, but i was thinking copper was best, but after reading comments, it looks like plastic is the way to go 😬 I was just worried 🫣
Haha this is metal barrier, racially polly on steroids
Just bought our new home and it’s going to need a compete re-pipe and heating install. Does anyone know, percentage price wise, how it compares to plastic and copper. FYI our house is. 50s 3 bed semi, 2 reception/kitchen bathroom (9 radiators). Would love to find someone who uses this system near us. Great video btw 👍 👍 👍
It all depends on joists and pipe runs in my opinion, depends if old floor boards or chipboard etc as sometimes plastic is the only way to run through the floors, glad you liked the vid 👊👊
Well done. No voice-over?
Let my hands do the talking
J'aime beaucoup tes vidéos en Belgique quand nous mettons des vannes verticales nous mettons une sonde déportée est-ce que ton système fonctionne à plein rendement est-ce la fête de mettre la vanne sur le bas du radiateur qui changent la donne👍
Hey and thank you for your support! I know too and bottom is best but houses in the uk just don’t like it done that way! Still work perfect being at bottom and looks much better
I have a problem with removing the flooring, I'm afraid I might damage something.
Slow and steady wins the race!
I have installed many radiators over the years and been using plastic pipe since it cam out. What I do not understand is why you didn't simply connect the copper pipe to a push fit elbows instead of several fittings which cost more money than push fit and need a very expensive piece of kit to compress the fittings. I am impressed by the plastic pipe bending tool. I never use ptfe tape/string AND jointing compound as the jointing compound makes the ptfe slide about and not compress into the threads. I tried blue but went back to ptfe as easier to disassemble!! Cheers
Yeah we all got out ways but Pressit mlcp will outlast pushfit plastic any day in my opinion
@@mmplumber There may be some instances where press would have been better - last weeks freeze pushed several push fit elbows apart on an external installation. But for interior work the ease of adjustment and ability to unfit makes installation easier. Or I use solder!!
Just missed the deburing of the copper pipe. Otherwise nice job. 👍
Thanks bro yeah I need to get onto that!
@ look for an tapered drill, easy and fast.
I would prefer copper pipe right throughout the house every time dont like this plastic speedfit i am one of the old heads who would fit copper all the time can't beat the old tradition same with painting and decorating oiled based undercoat and gloss all day long you can't beat the old traditions
I think this is mlcp so metal inside like copper pipe with a decently wide internal bore rather than fully plastic pushfit stuff
Yeah it’s not speed fit mate 👍
I think it could be the future
That is great but aren't we supposed to be cutting down on plastic's etc.
Think we have bigger things to worry about dude
Your obviously highly skilled and are capable of doing this in more than one way but i just feel this doesnt have same quality and longevity as the traditional way ... but as the skill level is not that high people can do ut themselves now if they are competent enough
No harm in moving with the times, I’m sure the old school plumbers said the same about using copper when they was using steel
@mmplumber true.... it's similar to guys who hate electric cars i guess..lol
I have been using MLCP for two years now, and I have come away from pushfit completely. Not that I used pushfit that much.
But this stuff is bulletproof! Although you do have to think differently on how you go about in installing this pipe work sometimes.
Overlapped wallpaper....
Very old council house 👊
It's pretty stupid to make connections hidden in the floor.
Clearly, you're not a plumber 😂
Funny as it’s the easiest to fix and trace
My thoughts too!
You have no idea how plumbing is installed. Just sit back and watch
Future?¿ lmao Europe uses MLCP at least since 20 years ago.
We are so behind here!
You should wear gloves. Who knows what nasty fkn chemicals are in that pipe sealant.
I don't like that PEX pipe and I reckon that'll end up becoming a nightmare later.
I think America was using first generation pex and it ended up becoming a huge problem after it started to fail or I can't remember what happened but it might have been toxic.
Tbh we have been using this style of pipe in underfloor heating for the last 15 years and that’s left under solid concrete!
Great video
Thanks mate glad you liked it
