  • Join The Crystal Collector on an incredible adventure as we unearth some of the world’s largest and finest Bixbyite crystals, hidden deep in the heart of Utah! This rare mineral, known for its striking luster and rarity, isn’t the only treasure we discovered. Alongside Bixbyite, we stumbled upon vibrant Topaz crystals, including the elusive pink Topaz, and the rare mineral pseudo-Brookite.
    A huge shoutout to Gem-Tours for granting exclusive access to this legendary location. Thanks to their expertise and hospitality, we dug up a stunning variety of crystals throughout the day, each one telling its own ancient story.

      What state are you in? Every state has gems to mine! Jade is my favorite cause you can find hundreds of pounds of gem quality in one rock and all it takes Is a sledge hammer and some safety glasses and you can get tons with a bucket and a vehicle

      Anywhere that's public land or recreational forest land, you're allowed to collect minerals and gems and wood unless posted otherwise or in a claimed area , many areas aren't claimable but are perfectly legally mineable with bucket and hand tools

      I'm in oregon and my last post in my shorts is of a 100k gold specimen I found in gold beach oregon a town known for its gold that was once called Ellensburg back when the pirate captain who ruled the area from coos Bay oregon down to crescent city California named that area now known as gold beach, Ellensburg after his daughter Ellen a female pirate who lived in gold beach

      A web search for "Dig Crystals in Minnesota" or whatever state or province you live in will usually reveal something without 150 miles to dig. If nothing pops up for Crystals, substitute Gems or Fossils or Geodes. Or go with "Where can I did Bixbyite?"

    Great video. Does the topaz fade after it becomes pink? Or will it hold it's color? Do they ever find red beryl with the bixbyite & topaz? That would make a killer specimen.

    • @poniesFTW7
      @poniesFTW7 2 місяці тому +1

      Christian here, with TheGemTours. The Pink Topaz from Solar Wind doesn't fade clear, even if the pink is really light. It comes from the Mangenese inclusion.
      We do get bixbyite at the Red Beryl mine but they are all cubic. There are no Red Beryl at the Solar Wind Mine.

    • @poniesFTW7

      Them turning pink is really the sherry color fading away. Like with all Utah Topaz that takes about 2 weeks of infrared from direct sunlight.
      The pink is the manganese within the Topaz crystal structure.

    I know that most topaz from that area will fade to clear when exposed to the sun. Does this pink topaz just have some extra elements in it that keep some color as the sherry color fades to clear? I'm hoping one of the clubs I'm in near SLC have a field trip down here soon! (R.O.C.K and Wasatch Gem Society)

    • @poniesFTW7
      @poniesFTW7 2 місяці тому +1

      Hello! Christian here with TheGemTours, the pink is actually entirely separate from the sherry color. The Topaz from Solar Wind Mine has both, so when the sherry fades out with the infrared (typically from the sun) all that remains is the manganese in the Topaz, making it pink.
      They do range in intensity, sometimes the pink is not discernable until held over white paper. That is not the norm though.

    • @poniesFTW7
      @poniesFTW7 2 місяці тому +1

      @Teacherspetspoods Hello, Christian here from TheGemTours.
      The pink color remains in the Topaz from Solar Wind after the sherry color has faded away, because it has manganese mixed within.
      The same manganese is what forms the Bixbyite, and it's also a key ingredient in the Red Beryl we dig at our other mines.
