Cut, cut, cut. Nothing better than to be the first person to see the inner beauty. I noticed you pushing pretty hard. That will eventuallyake your hands tired and wear out the blade prematurely. I still find myself doing it. I try to slow down. It will take longer but not as tiring. Love the new saw. Try to stay dry.😊

Three suggestions. 1. The longer your rock is the greater the chance of binding your blade if you are hand guiding it. The same for the height. 2. Use a simple gravity siphon to get the sludge out of the well below the blade. Agitate the water with one hand while you are siphoning. 3. Dry your blade with a paper towel at the end of the session.

I use a wet saw daily . I've got several and change the water if the pump stops working or I move to another job site. Don't worry if you leave the water it won't hurt anything. I saw someone using corn syrup in the pre polish and polish stages to keep them from banging around too much, plus they also sent it through a 1000 grit stage. So it went 80,'220, 600, 1000, syrup and pre polish, corn syrup and polish. Imma try it on randos that aren't as shiny as I want first to see how it goes.

Those lapidary saws do take forever. The cuts are cleaner but if you’re looking for speed, get yourself a professional tile saw like the ridgid 10”. Cuts are 10x as fast - a little rougher but I think it’s worth it.
I owned that same saw you have and returned it after the first day due to the cut speed and the water leakage which you pointed out.

    Polishing will remove blade/cut marks.
You're pushing/forcing the cut. Slow down, let the blade do the cutting and youll have less breakage. Especially at the end of the cut. You cant stop all fractures but, can mitigate them by taking your time and going slowly.

Saws make tons of sludge and it’s only worse with oil based saws. I clean my saw every two weeks. One hint to keep in mind since you have a water based saw is you will need to remember to towel dry you saw blade after the end of your cutting sessions or your blade will rust. If it’s oil based you don’t have to deal with this but the sludge gets much much worse. I would use paper towels to cleanup the sludge. If you care for your saw well it will last for a long time and treat you to a lot of fun rock cutting sessions.

It is not a good idea to wear gloves while using a saw like those. If the glove fabric gets caught, it can pull your hand into the saw. Ironically, I worked at the Home Depot for 15 years, and safety videos were assigned monthly.

Kind of think of it as if you were taking a bath full of that stuff it’s on your skin don’t let it dry on your skin rinse it off or wear gloves And I noticed that you were pushing your rock into the saw. I actually go behind the saw and pull the rock towards me. I think it works better you decide which way you’d like to do it but it’s really a cool thing I love my 10 inch saw too. I know you are being on the safe side but do you need to wear a respirator with a wet saw? There shouldn’t be any dust in the air.

I will never fault someone for taking basic safety precautions. The wet saw does indeed minimize the amount of dust in the air, but there's a difference between "minimal" and "none", and silicosis builds up over time, and it is not curable or reversible.
