    Hello Tom, how do i make a 7g shot with this Dedica 685 ? Should i use the single basket anyway ? Or look for another basket. I can tamp properly 5-7g in the single basket. There is not enough ground coffee to be regular. Thanks.

      I would discourage single shots. They are hard to pull off. But you can use the Graef single basket if you want.

      What kind of grinder are you using? How long is your shot time, and what is your ratio of ground coffee beans to espresso milliliters out?

    Hello, I would like to ask a question. I have the Delonghi dedica ec685 model coffee machine and though the steam production is great it doesn't froth milk. The milk begins to boil in approxiamately in 10 seconds but it doesn't froth. I wanted to ask what you think the problem might be. Thanks in advance for your help.

      It has to do with tip placement. Submerge the tip 1mm into the milk, that should help!

    Hey! When I press the 1 cup button I get a really small amount of Espresso and the the machine only gives out the water for a few seconds. Is it broken or did I do something wrong? :0

    What coffee roast you like more with this machine? Cause i heard light roast isn good for the dedica

      Hey there, I prefer a 70/30 arabica to robusta blend, somewhat on the dark side. But certainly not dark and oily like starbucks. Thanks for watching! Tom

      You can do lighter roasts if you do something like a turbo shot with a long ratio, but it does mean there's less body and it's a bit thinner, like Moka pot or filter

    Hello Tom, I’m also using a bottomless portafilter with non-pressurised basket but I’m not getting crema like you do, I have the same espresso machine.What I am doing wrong?

      Hello Christos, are you using fresh beans? That’s is normally the main culprit. Also, what kind of grinder are you using?

      @@MuShTaNk Ok, what brand of beans? Many brands sell beans that are already months old. That grinder should be capable of grinding fine enough, I believe.

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner it’s called Taresso, I think it’s usually a week old mostly. I also so this video ua-cam.com/video/aSuBrhZI-xY/v-deo.html where the person gets the same results as mine and he mods it to get finer coffee. Could this be the case?

    Hi Tom. I have the same machine. But after putting it under steam wand, it creates 0 foam. It only heats up. Please help

      Put it closer to the air. You need to create a little little space between milk and the thing which released the steam.

      @@flox8907 Thanks but I figured out I was reusing the same milk after practicing steaming it once for some reason. I found out after steaming a milk once it can't be steamed again

    I tryed it many times but everytimes ended up with no good milk to draw and so i get good looking one but more Buble at end but before that so much milk so its not good taste coffee :(. I even wait for when its too hot to handle , put it in milk same like you , use 150-250 ml of milk . Well i usually just drink espresso with teaspoon of honey and put little cold milk to it . But soon i will maybe get bottomless filter and then i will start experimenting with it more .

      Hey there! The most important thing is the angle of the milk pitcher to the wand. Try to mimic the angle used in the video, and you should be able to get a whirlpool going. Also, inject enough air in the beginning, otherwise it will be too thin. Cheers!

    I have the exact machine, but when I push the far left button to start the extraction, it often just drips a bit and does nothing. I then have to push the same far left button 2-3 times before it starts the extraction process fully. Anyone know why it won't start the process after just one button push like it should?

      To me it sounds like either a loose connection or possibly a circuit board issue. Can you exchange it for a new one?

    Hey Tom! I cant wrap my head around this. I see videos of people make Cappuccino and Latte, but to me they both look identical. Is there any difference in preparation, or is it just that people call cappuccino with latte art just latte. Google images will also show you a Latte that looks different from what people on UA-cam make with thier machines. What's the difference here, because I feel like im missing out on something

      Lattes are made with thinner milk foam, to get those sweet designs. But honestly I prefer the thicker texture of a cappuccino for daily drinking.

    Hi Tom. I bought the Lavazza super cream beans but the extraction is always bitter and dark. I have the same Dedica and Eureka grinder.
    Would you tell me what should be the grinder setting for the lavazza (steps from the zero point) ?

      Step 1: never buy coffee off from big brands like Lavazza and all the other companies. Visit a local roastery and try some good espresso. After that, you will never go back to Lavazza.

      Hey Ahmed, it is best to fill the milk up to the bottom lip of the pitcher spout. Inject more air for cappuccino, to get a more stiff foam, and less air for latte, to get a silkier smoother texture.

      That’s right, in a double basket you can fit 15 g in, and aim for 3 g out.

    This is a great video. I'm trying to play around with the measurements but I just can't seem to reach 25 seconds before it reaches 30 grams. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

      Hey Sabrina, it really depends on the roast freshness of your beans, and on your grind quality. What beans are you using, and what grinder? How many grams are you packing into your basket?

      Hey Enzo, are you in Italy? I believe I was using Lavazza Espresso here, in the purple bag. I would only suggest them however, if they are less than six weeks old. Otherwise, try to get fresh beans from a local roaster. 🤗

      Yes, correct. It depends on your basket size. I can dose up to 14-16 grams in my largest basket, for a double shot. Just look to get double that amount (28-30ml) of espresso, and then nice creamy frothed milk on top. I'd recommend getting a scale.

      I'd call it a cappuccino. Latte has milk first, then espresso is poured on top.
