Never got tired of listening to Canned Heat, The Bear was one of the best frontman out there. They were raw, spontaneous, and in your face. A LOT OF FUN IN THE 60'S. What happened ? Not much worth talking about these days. Just great to go back and relive what was....sorry for today's crew coming up.
Wouldn't trade it for anything ....

Been waiting for this... Let's not forget these guys headlined over just about EVERYBODY in the heyday of psychedelic music. Alan Wilson= genius,Vestine then Mandel both fantastic and what can be said about The Bear???This cat was really the blues. The Mole, from Brooklyn!!, rocking like his head was gonna fall off...Underrated is probably not enough of a word to say just how GREAT these boys were in concert and in promoting the Blues to white hippies back then and bringing exposure to the fathers of the blues who were just starting to get the recognition they deserved as the originators of the art form know as the blues...and DON'T FORGET TO BOOGIE!!!!

@@Blackscorpion1963 Don't worry, I listened to LMFAO back in 2010's throughout Junior High School Parties when they made some Electronic hits, and Katy Perry was yeah more or less on fire back than too with the new gen, Black Eyed Peas back then were good at Electronic/Rap, but heed this, Alan Wilson and blues are one. I always loved blues-rock. It really is too bad Alan died, poor kid. Such aspiration for him in the blues community back then. John Lee Hooker once said Alan was the greatest man on the Harmonica he had ever hear listen play.
I am alone at 23 with the boogie, but this boogie is so fine. Name a rock band that is not hypnotized by the sound of blues they grew up with? A very powerful and all out inspirational genre the Blues is, passed down many times, it is.
The world is only getting bluer, keep the boogie Blues!

@@acewingdabson3139 Hey don't worry I have listened to more than my fair share of many a guilty pleasure over the course of my music listening career. For a start - the very first piece of vinyl I was gifted by my parents (as I had asked for it) was The Thunderbirds on 45rpm and we're not talking about the band. When I was 10 (btw I'm a Kiwi - New Zealander) a friend introduced me to ? Get ready for this...Deep Purple. And the song? 'Speed King'. From that moment I was hooked on Deep Purple. Bought my first LP when I was 12 around 1976, and of course it was Deep Purple 'Machine Head'. But back to guilty pleasures...always have had a soft spot for ABBA...My niece is a big fan of Black Eyes Peas. I've never been in to hip hop or rap though I appreciate the genre for sure. Love Run DMC's 'Walk This Way' - I rate the song one of the best examples of creative music in history. I'm obviously not familiar with LMFAO sorry. You won't be the only 23 year young person who appreciates boogie make no error. Here's a wee tip for ya - try to listen to music from the Monterey International Pop Music Festival in '67. The gig was so influential on music at the time - I believe it had even more influence than Woodstock in '69. Lately I've been getting in to psychedelic rock. I dig Jefferson Airplane. It's a cool genre of music.

Saw them twice in their prime. They left the crowd stunned with pleasure. These guys kicked ass and were the SHIT!!!! Only 2 or so tunes ever got radio play... so what?.... They were a LIVE experience! And the "boogie" riff is not ZZ Top's.. it is a black folk's riffin' from before recorded time. HEAT had their Boogie out YEARS before Billy's Zigzag Top' "LaGrange" riff. Enjoy the real HEAT as hot as ever!

But, too many greats from that era got involved with drugs that took them away before their music skills were fully realized.

Luckily, I used to get to see them very often...they were the house band at the Kaleidoscope in Hollywood, where I often worked, they would play before the headliner. I didn't get it at first, but soon I did love it, starting with Sunflower, and a band of all-stars kicking ass. Paul Butterfield played there sometimes, and I got to compare his harp with that of Blind Owl, a lovely thing, the Mole was my favorite bass player in the world, looking like his head would shake right off, a sight to never forget. Bear was outstanding, and put such friendliness and happiness into it, and Fito putting a great beat to it all... I get the feeling that these musicians really listened to each other. so many years later, I try to hide the sadness that I can't just jump in the car and see them again. These recordings help so much to bring it back to my old brain.

They played at the Electric Theater, a venue operated by Aaron Russo that booked basically the same bands that played the Fillmore East and West. They opened for Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.

I ALREADY OWN INDIVIDUAL WOODSTOCK ALBUMS (JIMI HENDRIX / JEFFERSON AIRPLANE / JANIS JOPLIN / SLY & THE FAMILY STONE / SANTANA) THE ONLY OTHER PERFORMANCES I WANT ARE THE GRATEFUL DEAD & CCR (I COULD PROBABLY/HOPEFULLY FING A GOOD BOOTLEG FROM A GRATEFUL DEAD FANSITE - THEY LET FANS RECORD THEIR PERFORMANCES).
