I was 10 years old the first time I saw this man in concert,1983. He was wild and crazy on stage. Shirt ripped off, beating on the drums as they played “kaw-liga” and running all over the place. A lot to take in for a 10 year old but I loved it!! I’ll never forget it and I’ll never stop listening to his music.
I just found your channel today, and I'm enjoying it very much. I just thought you might enjoy a little tidbit of my personal family history. My oldest sister, Mary (God rest her soul) was a little bitty thing. Full grown she was 4 foot 11. I'm an old woman. 65 years old. Mary was 18 years older than me. What I'm going to tell you happened when she was 5 or 6 years old. So around 1944 or so. Hank Sr. was on the radio and touring around from place to place and he came to east Texas. My mother was a Hank Williams fan and took my older sister with her to see him. My sister was thirsty and tippy toeing to try and reach the water fountain just as Hank Williams was walking by to go on stage. He stopped and picked Mary up and fled her while she got a drink. And I think it was a wonderful and humble thing to do.
If you listen to enough of Hank's songs he will tell you his life story and it's pretty unique. Along with Hank Sr. the man is a legend. Thanks for the video!
The thing is most men haven’t been through what Hank has at the age of 30. There’s a interview he did where he talks about almost dying on a cliff, growing up singing his dads songs, being on the road at age 8 drinking with his dads band. It’s unbelievable what he’s experienced
Oh man, when you go to a Hank Williams Jr Show you get to see and hear him play every instrument on the stage. He is awesome there's nothing he can't do. And yes Kid Rock has played with Jr. HWJ learned from everyone in the music business they all came to his mother's house to pay respects to Hank Williams . Jr had been through a lot at thirty man, almost died from a fall off a mountain, that's why the sunglasses and beard to cover the scars. He used the music to try to cover the scars on the inside. What a man.
By the time Bocephus was 30 he had lived more than most of us at 50. The man lived through drug overdoses and alcohol addiction, fell of a Montana mountain and should have died, he been through it all. He lived the life of a true traveling musician and true blue hell raiser, he is a living legend and one of the last true outlaws.
Hank Sr and Jr were HEAVY partiers. Jr grew the beard and wore sunglasses so you can't see the scars after he fell off of a mountain. Then he became the Legend.
God in all his grace allowed some of us to be blessed with the creature known as a good woman...They are everything that we are not..And these women hold your head proud because you are the perfect gift to us that needed you! thank you!

Hank Williams Jr. was a young boy when his daddy died and his mama pushed him to sing his daddy's song on stage. She wanted him to take his daddy's place on stage. He finally grew up enough to rebel. He did not want to be a substitute for his dad. He wanted to sing his own songs and to sing the way he wanted. He managed to break free and has his own career. For a long time he avoided his daddy's song but he finally more or less made his peace with who he was and who his dad was. He has even made a video of him singing with his dad like they were actually singing together. This was something he was never able to do in real life. I saw it once years ago but I really do not remember the song but it should still be out there somewhere. He and Kid Rock are friends.
Glad you got it. It is a love song to his wife. Of course he honors his Dad (who was awesome in his own day) Becky was great for him. She brought him back from falling off a mountain onto his face,
HANK Williams Sr passed away from an overdose when he was 3. HANK Sr was THE country legend of the 40’s/50’s and was only 29 at his death. A lot of folks wanted him to copy his dad, but he had friends in both rock and country who were pushing him to be his own singer. Yes. His career was only from 1947 till his death in 1953 at 29. In that time he wrote hundreds of songs that became super hits for him and later artist. George Thourogood’s “Move It On Over” was a cover of a Hank Williams song
Hank Sr had a deformed spine and attempted rodeo riding, that made it worse. He drank and did drugs partly for pain relief. I've been a hank jr fan since my childhood. The more you learn about him the more of a fan you become. If you get a chance watch the movie of him. Living proof. Gives some history of young hank. U commenting about playing instruments, the man can play anything I think. Hank jr. Is the man!
Hank Jr and Kid Rock were the founding members of Muzik Mafia with Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson. They did a few years worth of collaboration with each other and toured together. Hank's son HW3 also sang with him a few times as well on tour.
His father was the pioneer of Country Music. Hank Williams senior toured all over the US in the late 40s and 50s. He died at a young age in a car when they were on the road headed for a performance. He died of heart attack due to a mix of drugs and alcohol.
Hank Jr history is an absolutely amazing story. If I lived closer I would love to share a pot of coffee with you and great country music history about 2 legends.
Yes Hank And kid Rock are best friends. They did some music together too .he sometimes refers to him as his son. I think Hank sees some of himself in Kid being wild and don't give a darn what people think of him
Oh man!!! Finally someone reacts to this one!!! “Country boy can Survive” and this one are my favorites- ok, let’s get to it.. (I was like 😯and immediately commented first) And you just gotta see “Living Proof The HWJ movie”- this man had to relearn everything after falling from a MOUNTAIN cliff- - they had to put his face back together like a puzzle- literally! (hence the now iconic beard and glasses) this song was after the incident when he tried to become a recluse in a cabin in the mountains- the movie shows it ALL- 💙👍✌️. PS - I see a lot of folks mentioning Alan Jackson’s cover- I must agree! However, please do the live version with Hank Jr. and fam sitting front row watching Alan Jackson do it- Great stuff!!! Again, the movie is fantastic!!👍✌️
Dude you're on the right course with Jr. "Mr weatherman" and "Outlaw women " are songs In the same slow smooth realm of hank classics. Mr weatherman you gotta do the live 1980s version.
His dad passed away when Hank was only 3 years old and his mom Audrey pushed him to perform his dads music and with help from many different musical greats he learned how to play almost every instrument you can think of and developed his own style after almost dying after falling off of a mountain and almost overdosing.
Gosh this was my favorite song back then. Just about him. He wrote the soundtrack to my youth and I thought I heard a beautiful soul inside those songs. But, I guess we never really understand anyone altogether. Broke my heart when he changed so much.
I'm probably late to the game, but .... Back in the late 80's when Bocephus (Hank Williams Jr) was winning back to back CMA Entertainer of the year awards, he would play every instrument on the stage at least once. and his name is a reminder of his Daddy... Hank Williams Sr. the original traveling cowboy.
I watched him at concert in like 2015 and he was playing the piano and stood up and and sat on the left side piano keys and started sliding from side to side on his ass shit was legendary
This song reminds me of my dad he went through his exact situation but it sadly got to him and I listen to hank every day pretending my dads wit me you’ll never fully appreciate someone until there gone
You say it takes most people a lot longer than 30 to take a look at themselves and see they can do better. That's true. However, the stuff Hank Jr. did and went through by age 30 would probably take most folks 50 or 60 years to experience, He led a rather wild and out of control life very early on. Thank God he took a step back. And thanks to the support of his wife through all of it.
You should watch Living proof the Hank Jr Story made for TV movie, its free on UA-cam, be fun to see a reaction to it and ALL IN ALABAMA or IF YOU DON'T LIKE HANK WILLIAMS are some goods, I could list dozens :) He and Kid Rock are pretty good friends
I remember when living proof first aired on TV 📺 people were saying that John Boy Walton Richard Thomas should not gotten the role but I think he did an outstanding job playing Hank I guess people didn't know that before his accident Hank Williams Jr was clean cut
Hank Williams Junior fell down a mountain and broke every bone in his face and sings Like he does but you need to hear Hank Williams Junior’s son Hank Williams grandson he sounds just like his grandfather He sings that old Timey country
I always cry when I hear this, I grew up as a kid when his father was alive. and my dad sang his songs. and in this video there was his father's guitar case. His father drank himself to death.
His wife just passed away a few weeks ago. Some back story on Hank. When he was a teenager, his mother had him touring, basically being a clone of his father. Until he fell off the mountain in Idaho he never got to be himself. He battled so many personal demons he had to come to grips with. Waylon Jennings is one that helped him and was a lifelong friend. Check him out., another legend
I am about to blow your mind... There is a Hank Williams the Third. AND HE'S A MUSICIAN, TOO! And let me tell you, the right woman will bring out the best in you without ever changing you.
Hank jr. OD’d in Denver and In the arms of cocaine Two of his best. But we already know they are all classics. You’ll enjoy these two songs.!!’n play em!
You asked what is he not play and none I saw him once in concert he played everything and he jammed take nobody entertain an orange like Hank Jr he is a true showman
Hank Jr. once said when his father died, the musical greats often stopped at the house and they gladly taught the little boy how to play guitar, piano and everything else under the sun. They knew his father wasn't around to teach the child, so they were glad to pass the musical legacy forward.

There’s an incredible song called Men with Broken Hearts and it has all 3 of the Williams it’s amazing hearing 3 generations singing in one song
This is great I have never seen this.
Hank's been through some s**t, seriously. His song catalog is incredible. I'm so happy to see you digging him. Thank you!
He plays almost any instrument they can put on stage. Hank is a rockin country blues legend. Great video brother.
One of my all time favorite songs
His father was the pioneer of Country Music. Hank Williams senior toured all over the US in the late 40s and 50s. He died at a young age in a car when they were on the road headed for a performance. He died of heart attack due to a mix of drugs and alcohol.
Now you gotta listen to "Ballad of Hank Williams" hilarious but true song about his dad.
Sang it with Don Helms. "Ballad of Hank Williams"
Stinging the heart, this song!
My favorite Hank
Fricken sweet
He is a huge influence on Kid Rock. Both are amazing. Hank Williams Jr. and Waylon Jennings.
Love your reactions my brother. Much ❤️🔥❤️🔥 from Louisiana
My favorite Hank Williams jr song
Swear hank is crying, he was living in that moment.
He looked like he was wearing a biggie 👕
Dinosaur!
@@dustinsamson4879 I was going to mention a T-shirt I seen Hank wearing in this video also. Thought maybe it looked like John Lee Hooker.
@@dustinsmith3235 that also is true
His dad passed away when Hank was only 3 years old and his mom Audrey pushed him to perform his dads music and with help from many different musical greats he learned how to play almost every instrument you can think of and developed his own style after almost dying after falling off of a mountain and almost overdosing.
I saw hank twice, I’m from Philly and I’ve been listening to hank since I was 18, now I’m an old baby boomer. He’s a legend!
I'd bet there is no instrument he can't play. He was born into music and had a name to uphold. Everyone helped him along the way.
His daddy died when he was a little boy.
Se there, you said you were a city boy but you get it man music can bring us together.
Beautiful song
Gosh this was my favorite song back then. Just about him. He wrote the soundtrack to my youth and I thought I heard a beautiful soul inside those songs. But, I guess we never really understand anyone altogether. Broke my heart when he changed so much.
Hank Jr is the man!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
My momma knew Hank Jr. She said he was such a nice giving man. Momma is now gone but I have the stories she told me
His dad had wrote I forget how many hits and died at the age of 29 these are musical geniuses
Yes thats kid rock
Ain't first won't be last. So glad you're gettin into the good shit
This song reminds me of my dad he went through his exact situation but it sadly got to him and I listen to hank every day pretending my dads wit me you’ll never fully appreciate someone until there gone
You need to see him in concert to appreciate him. He is great!
We are All just Family, Brother... 🤘❤🤘
Good Call, All in Alabama is a great song, one of my favorites!
I remember when living proof first aired on TV 📺 people were saying that John Boy Walton Richard Thomas should not gotten the role but I think he did an outstanding job playing Hank I guess people didn't know that before his accident Hank Williams Jr was clean cut
Watched that movie many times have it on VHS and even have the book
Some great songs and mixing on 3 Hanks men with broken heart. Album mixing vocals from all 3 Hanks. Sr, Jr & III
Yessssss
One of the best concerts I ever attended was Kid Rock and Hank Jr.
Yà got it!!!
Hank Williams Junior fell down a mountain and broke every bone in his face and sings Like he does but you need to hear Hank Williams Junior’s son Hank Williams grandson he sounds just like his grandfather He sings that old Timey country
Yes, that was Kid Rock, and bless your heart for recognizing Hank SR. There's also a Hank Williams the 3rd. You should definitely check it out.
Hank jr. OD’d in Denver and In the arms of cocaine
Two of his best. But we already know they are all classics. You’ll enjoy these two songs.!!’n play em!
I love you're breakdowns of these old songs. Big fan here.
This song is without a doubt my favorite of all time from any genre. Being a jr. myself it hits a bit harder
Life has a funny way of evening everything up!
You can listen to "the conversation" it's with Hank Williams Jr and Waylon Jennings talking about Hank Williams it's one of my favorites
Love hank jr. hank sr. Is awesome.
You asked what is he not play and none I saw him once in concert he played everything and he jammed take nobody entertain an orange like Hank Jr he is a true showman
Habits Old & New was his best album, in my opinion!! And this was one of his best songs ever!!!!!
You tearing up Bro. You are real.
I love this song... Alan Jackson does a real good job with this song too
Bocephus! Love this man and his father.
Love this one!
Hank Jr. once said when his father died, the musical greats often stopped at the house and they gladly taught the little boy how to play guitar, piano and everything else under the sun. They knew his father wasn't around to teach the child, so they were glad to pass the musical legacy forward.
