Hey there! German reenactor here seen posing in the background on the left side of the screen at 24:14. Definitely understand that it looks odd from an outside perspective. We are always happy to answer the awkward questions about just "Why do you do this?" What it really boils down to is, somebody has to do it. We are always invited back by the museum because our group in particular is a heavily-vetted, well represented group of living historians with no real ties to N@zism.
A majority of our members have relatives who were negatively affected by the war, I have Jewish ancestors who fled from Belarus at the time and immigrated to the United States. Our goal in German WW2 reenacting is to represent the conscripted soldier, who had no choice but to fight for a country that was unfortunately run by very evil people. By doing this, we are able to keep the memory of the bad guys alive, as history may be doomed to repeat itself when forgotten; but by representing a soldier of the general army, known as the Heer forces of the Wehrmacht, we are able to represent these bad guys in the best, least controversial way possible. This is in opposition to actually dressing up as Nazis, or members of the Waffen-SS, who were known in far greater documentation to commit atrocities than the members of the general army. I am happy that there are also groups that do portray the Waffen-SS, as they unfortunately also need to be shown in WW2 reenactments, but you will never find one of my group's members in that uniform. There were indeed SS groups present this weekend, which are also run by very good, well-vetted people.
In the end, my groupmates and I all have the best intentions, and we seek only to teach history to those who are more curious about the bad guys after visiting the good guy camps. For that reason we feel comfortable with representing the Germans in World War 2 - because it's necessary that someone does.
Thanks for attending the show, we hope you stop by for the Battle of the Airfield during Columbus Day Weekend! Please feel free to respond to my comment with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Very well put, thank you. I completely understand, and your portrayal of the enemy of WW2 is an amazing way to teach not just the kids in the audience, but most adults who have no ideal.
You guys were amazing, and it was great to see everything on display. This was a great event and fabulous museum. I will definitely be returning.
My friend and I actually had a conversation about wearing of these uniforms, something I should have added.. covering the points made by you and what I have just wrote.
Thank you again sir, for all you and other living historians do.. love seeing the youth attending and learning. My disgust of that particular group during WW2 has no bearing on teaching about it, in any way possible to help others learn.

I was confused when the museum described the 3 collections.. I took it as 3 buildings, but in fact the auto and aviation collections were in the same building. It was shown, up the stairs in the Aviation hanger, was the auto collection, the race cars specifically. Though there were other automobiles and carriages that were not shown in the video.
