This might be a weird place to say it, but I'm a writer who's married to a Filipino girl who's really knowledgeable on the traditions and cultures there. Reading about their culture and mythology and traditions really gave me tons of inspiration for a story I'm writing. Seeing how underappreciated this aspect of the Philippines is, especially around the world, really gave me a drive to put some of it into my work. So many interesting things were lost due to the imperialism. I'm here doing research for my stories and I hope to one day do my part in sharing the life and world of these beautiful people. Cheers.

@@Deadflower20xx Holy moly! That's amazing to hear.
I wonder what kind of story you'll cook up? And yes.. it is unfortunate that so much of our pre-colonial era was totally destroyed/distorted by the Spaniards.
To this day, even the normal Filipino (including myself) knows vaguely about our native origins.
Which makes it even lovely to hear that someone is interested in investing in it. I hope to see your works in our local media soon.

As a musicologist I advocate that these folksongs which are untouched by Spanish music styles (unlike Bahay Kubo, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, etc.) should be popularized and be brought to greater awareness to the rest of the Phils.

Y'all need to stop bringing down one Filipino culture to compliment another. Tboli culture is just one of many in our country. Diversity is a strength of the Philippines and not every Filipino identifies with this (because it's a specific tribe). Many identify with the post colonial culture and that's okay. It's still Filipino culture and we made it our own, it's not "fake" Filipino culture. The difference is that the video is indigenous culture. Also calling it "Spanish alien sounds" sounds like xenophobia 😭. Influences from different cultures happens everywhere, whether it be through negative events such as colonization or more natural causes such as migration. Rejecting post colonial culture is like rejecting most of the country today and is being "purist" and again not everyone identifies with indigenous culture. We can embrace our roots by accepting the diversity we have. I personally love all the cultures we have. I'm a big fan of vintage filipinianas and I'd love to have a collection of indigenous textiles as well. ❤
