  • kck.st/3KSBcHb (Kickstarter link) Windham Hill Fans: I'm excited to be helping out with what promises to be a great documentary about a great (Palo Alto) record company with which I had a wonderful relationship in the days of the New Varsity. We were able to document so many of the artists there, as it was a bit like home for many of them, especially Michael Hedges and Tuck and Patti. Please dig down deep, if you are able, to help these seasoned documentarians tell the story of Windham Hill Records. Donations at this link: kck.st/3KSBcHb

What a wonderful concept. I have almost every piece from the artists that you feature in this promo. I will certainly see if I can make a contribution , no matter how small. Unfortunately our currency [ the Rand] is very weak in relation to the USD buit i will make an attempt . Wishung you all success. Greetings from Cape Town , South Africa

Nice idea. Great to see so many of the WH artists interviewed here. As was correctly stated, WH came along at the right time and place. I think, in the wake of the disco era, etc. many people were looking for something fresh and new. WH supplied that need. But it's more than that. The music itself was so creative and so well done, not to mention expertly recorded and produced, that it so easily generated a loyal following. I don't think we'll ever see any out-of-the-mainstream musical 'movement' like that again.
All that said, however, after reading through all the various donation levels and perks associated with them, I was turned off. Just seems too tacky for my taste. The fans helped make WH what it became. Doesn't seem right to now solicit funding from them to make a movie. Watching the kickstarter video (which was quite good actually) is enough. Probably all the interviews with WH musicians that I'd ever care to see are already available on youtube.
