I drove this truck during the 14 days of the 2024 Calgary Stampede, and it was a pure joy. It is a large truck with a very high level of fit and finish, a comfortable drive, and every convenience option anyone would want. Well done, GMC!

If we ignore pricing. It’s very very hard to decide which is the best HD pickup today. All of them are absolutely amazing I’m in my late 50’s and have been driving pickups all my adult life for work and personal “go to church in our best” attire.
This is how ridiculous government regulations have become. I can take a 1979 Ford F-350 Crew Cab 1-ton pickup (I use to own one) and back then I pulled tongue trailer that hooked to the rear bumper (not a Reece hitch) that when fully loaded with firewood weighed upwards of 30,000 lbs. Now, not one police officer nor weight station would ticket or stop a rancher or farmer from pulling an overloaded trailer as long as stuff wasn’t falling off and becoming a threat to passing cars. NOW, today I could add some airbags to an F-150 crew cab with any motor Ford offers in their F-150, and I could not only pull that 30,000 lbs trailer but I could do it safer and with little to no major long term problems with the F-150.
The point is this, todays pickups are on a factor of capability many many times more powerful, safer and economical to fuel up than in any time in history.
For example the 1979 F-350 had a 400 cu in motor had 159 go, 290 for lbs torque at about 3500 rpm!, and it actually weighed less (5980 lbs. A 1/2 ton crew cab F-150 in 2024! A fully loaded F-150 Weighs 6893 lbs. has 400 hp and 570 ft lbs of torque. The thing is this motor make this power at less than 3000 RPM!
The thing is, any single 1/2 ton truck today is more powerful, stops faster and has stability control systems that make them many many times more powerful than 3/4 or 1-ton pickups of just 30 years ago.
Yet… if I were to add springs or airbags to an F-150 with Max trailering package then hook up a 25,000 lbs trailer….. I’d not only receive a ticket but might find myself in prison if I were in an accident EVEN if the accident has absolutely nothing to do with with the pickup and its load.
So… that’s one hell of a truck. But for $100,000 dollars it should be!

The rear view camera is strange at first, but have any items that may block vision in bed, as long as they don’t block camera, it allows you to still see and eliminates some blindspots.

Holy crap, I used to live not too too far away from this dealership. I lived in the neighboring city called Bossier City.

Some people have trouble with blood clots. A good comfortable seat can really help out ( sometimes).

Beautiful truck, test drove the Ultimate today, but boy, that sticker price! And yes, there are some things GMC should have done better on something with this price tag and Ultimate designation

The days of a cheap truck are a thing of the past. Any luxury truck is going to be $90k+

Ok… I’m looking at either the F-350 Platinum / limited or the 3500 in a GMC Denali Ultimate, GMC AT4x or the Chevy Silverado High Country. But I need a telescoping tilt steering wheel and would really like adjustable pedals. Am I missing it… but it appears that GM only offers manual tilt and no adjustments for the pedals.
I sure like GM (both Chevy and GMC) HD trucks starting in 2024 model years. It’s going to be a really tough decision.

Not sure if you decided…just left Ford and got GMC. Very brief experience so far…Pros: independent front suspension smoother ride, some technology features, not as much as fords with comparable features. Cons: center screen not as intuitive as Ford, some controls seem cheap eg sliding rear window switch doesn’t feel “solid” compared to ford, and I am ok with tailgate concept but it’s just annoying and run risk of damaging it when have hitch, not as many gauge options as Ford, and think Fords seats are more comfortable.
I like the truck. Is it perfect? Nope. Went with GMC because lower price for similar features, comparable performance, better ride, and for me, looks better.

Bad design on the column shifter , blocks the screen , very annoying. A pig compared to the superduty . Made the mistake of trading in my Ford superduty for a 2024 3500 drw ultimate. Expected a lot more from a 6 digit plus truck

    • @trevino73
      @trevino73 8 місяців тому +1

What do you mean by pig? Are you talking about the fuel consumption?

Maybe slightly inconvenient, but haven’t found it prevents me from seeing needed information.
Does block manual sound knob or home button if you like those.
I wish it was easier to navigate, or quick access for cameras. Have a Yukon that has button but not my HD. 🤦‍♂️
What was SD mpg? I got 18-18.5 on hwy through Appalachians. Which, had half ton got 19-19.5 for that same trip.
