Netflix series was garbage. At least that last movie made somewhat of an attempt to follow the game😅. All hollyweird had to do was follow the bloody game script. The blueprint is right there. I just hope this prequel movie does the Resident Evil franchise right, and maybe going forward will open a few more movies. At least the games are good. That is the main thing.

@@ROEnetwork it so frustrating. They only are faithful to surface levels stuff like the look of locations, and characters from the games. But the character don’t look or act like the characters we know. Don’t get me started on the story.
I think it is possible to do a long form resident evil series that takes multiple stories adapted from the games and novels.
With the raccoon city destruction arc taking multiple seasons, followed by the fall of umbrella arc which would include stories from various spin-off games and novels, leading into the age of bio terror arc which would cover RE4-RE8 and the stories spun out from that. I could see several seasons of a show like that.
I just don’t know why we cant just get a proper RE adaptation. Instead we keep getting generic-post apocalyptic zombie show and a prequel to a terrible movie adaptation chimera of RE1&2

Oh great… another RE Series set in a post apocalypse. How long does Constantine still have the rights?
The reason they are doing another movie in the first place is to renew those rights. Which means constantin films doesn't want to let go of the RE film rights. If they don't make an RE film within the span of their agreed upon contract (don't know how many years), they lose the rights. So unless Constantin Films willingly lets the RE film rights go or they sell it then the movies won't stop. We can only hope that they actually learn from their mistakes and just make a good adaptation.

@@haromass1 with the way they're treating the RE films, seems like they actually don't. It's not like fans all over the world haven't been screaming their lungs out to finally have a decent adaptation of one of the most popular video games that pioneered the survival horror genre.
@@castlemein5765 I was guessing 5 years, basing off of the difference between The Final Chapter (2016) and WTRC (2021), and it's also pretty much a reasonable standard of time with most IPs in general. They are never letting go of RE.

HBO only wants complex stories with depthful characters, unfortunately Resident Evil never did that well, especially the original games, the characters were caricatures, i don't think HBO execs would look at RE games and think it to be interesting like The Last of Us, which was a very character driven game.

Each season is a game. First season can be Resident Evil 1 with Resident Evil 0 flashbacks.

Well none of these people who makes these movies actually ever played any of these games they are not hardcore fans because at the end of the day they wouldn't know what fans of the series would want. And it's sure not hell matching two story lines together that don't make any sense and then changing characters personalities that was never in the game to begin with in sprinkle in relationships in the game that never happened. but visually it was pretty at least that's one thing going for it

@@TheHmoobkey My thing is when you change the embodiment of a character that's already been written and you got fans who know that character's ins and outs. I know people was getting upset about the ethnicity of the characters that they changed personally I don't care about that but I care more about the character that they are trying to portray in the movie or film when you change that personality to the point that it's not even the same character that you're looking at then that's a problem
in that movie they changed scenarios they changed characters personalities they changed everything that made resident evil awesome. just like Claire wasn't a badass she was just looking for her brother in the game she didn't become a badass until later on but in the second game she was just a girl looking for a long lost brother and would do anything to find him even though when she got into raccoon City she didn't know what that entails. she wasn't there for a different mission like the movie betrayed that didn't make any sense.

Good question, I'm not sure really. The Milla Jovovich movies did this as a kind of post script to the games, the Netflix series also went post apocalyptic.. now again .. sigh ..
They should learn from Fallout series on how to make good game tv show adaptation.
While the Fallout Amazon series is more of an extension of the video game universe, rather than an adaptation of an established game, it has expertly woven those past games into the streaming series. This is where the CG animated RE movies succeeded.
I would love to see a series like that instead of these reimaginings of the games that Constantin is making.
how is it so hard to make a FAITHFUL GAME TO SHOW / MOVIE ADAPTATION. Like its literally insane how Resident Evil has been out for 20+ years yet, we got a The Last of Us live action show that actually FOLLOWS the game before a Resident Evil show that FOLLOWS the games one by one. SMFH, we're even getting a silent hill 2 movie that follows the game more faithfully and its not even out yet! How and why they keep dropping the ball with every new live-action resident evil is one of the biggest mysterious on this planet. ( Yes I am mad )
The only Resident evil movies true to the games are the animated RE movies
The Last of Us is very easy to adapt because it's a character driven game that is richly written, Resident Evil is a mess writing and character wise, no wonder studios try to add a lot to it since it doesn't have enough substance.
Well The Last of Us series took some liberties and screwed up some parts of the games. Especially the part with Bill. So no that crappy series has also it's flaws. I think The Last of Us is very overestimated.

RE Zero has a lot of lore with the creation of the first virus then adding Wesker and William and watching them set everything for RE1 was amazing during the game
I’ve said it so many times and I’ll say it again. I think Arklay had the right idea. It’s like RE:Outbreak by seeing the nightmare in RC unfold from some ordinary citizens that have no relation to the big name characters in the franchise. There is SOOO much they can do without even touching the main characters but maybe mentioned or some small references towards them. Hell Arklay could have been like an anthology series from different parts of RC and Arklay.

I get what you're saying, problem is, in reality, being stuck in a mansion and the underground facilities would only take place in a matter of hours, so unless you do it like the '24' tv series, I don't see how it would work. Unless there's a whole story that takes place before the mansion incident and leave the last 2/3 episodes for the mansion/underground incident.
They could try that to be fair, actually do some character building at the RPD for the first episode (that’s true to the canon, rather than what they shamelessly did to Leon). They could introduce some characters only seen in Outbreak for example. Then bravo team leave to go investigate. Could end the first episode finding out that there was no response from bravo team. Then do a couple of episodes of Alpha experiencing the mansion without finding anyone alive from bravo until they eventually find Rebecca, then 2/3 more about the events of Zero, then back to finish the events of Remake in the final few. You could easily fill 10 45 minutes episodes if they could be bothered to give anything the depth of story it deserves, rather than treating it like an action movie for action movie fans. It should be legit terrifying, rather than what was essentially comedy segments in both WTRC and the Netflix series.

Me being honest I think they should do one at a time like start with Resident Evil Zero like a movie and then when that's all done you know to its own roots and then make a new Resident Evil movie have like Western and Chris and Jill Valentine and Berry I would make it where they would go their own way and like Jill encounters for example like the snake you can use CGI also you know and then have where Chris Redfield encounters Lisa Trevor in the movie in and then have it where Richard saves Jill from the shark also using CGI and then you have where Barry saves you know Jill and then you could have like where Western saves Chris Redfield in the movie just throwing ideas

I may be curious about the prequel Zero movie, if done as actuality as possible to the main source, unlike Welcome to Racoon City which tried to cluster f*ck multiple into one. The series sounded promising until it brought up zombies with guns and rocket launchers. The things I'm looking forward to the most are The Keeper's Diary and additional news on George Romero's Resident Evil doc.

Well from what i've heard, the next live-action movie will be indeed a RE0 adaptation but would act as a complete reboot apart from Welcome to Raccoon City. They will try to really make it faithful to the game and if the movie is profitable enough they will make straight up adaptations of RE1, RE2 ect...

the highlight of this video for me wasn't about the netflix series but instead the premiere dates for the keepers diary which is about a week from now got me excited
"Faithful" has lost all meaning with these executives. We're guaranteed to get two mediocre products with the Resident Evil name slapped on them for marquee value.
The only RE films that I have put any stock in are the CGI films, at least they are faithful to the source (being that they are set in the game universe). Though they have gone a little overboard recently with some of the shit we see in the films. Honestly, I would like to see the films get brought back to a more realistic point, where are characters aren't wielding these massive non-realistic man-portable weapons without even breaking a sweat. Like I know we all like to keep joking about punching a boulder but come on, it's too much.
They should title these movies: Survivor: Welcome to Sheena Island, Veronica: Welcome to Rock Fort Island, Biohazard Zero: Welcome to The Umbrella Chronicles. Like how the 90’s Tom Clancy films were title just the book names and leave the Tom Clancy name out.

Rurouni Kenshin immediately got it right with one live action film followed up by amazing sequels. They even got the casting down. Meanwhile Re is still struggling with live action content. Might be an unfair comparison but adapting a manga into live action isn't a easy task either.
The difference is Rurouni Kenshin was made by the Japanese about Japanese people in Japan. Netflix has a lot of DEI baggage to inject because of low interest loans paid out by NGOs like Black Rock and Vanguard.

Also I want to say I hope that the keepers diary becomes a better success over the shity Netflix series that were going to get and then maybe possibly good resident evil zero movie even though I feel that we should be getting a remake of that and code Veronica instead because I think even though don't get me wrong things are going well for the series I feel that we still need some games to be announced before a movie or a TV series goes into work and they need to get better people that aren't going to put their own spin on a series
Only way we're gonna get a proper adaptation is if the fans pool our money together and make one and use the SD Perry books as a script.

Every single time a RE movie was made it was always advertised as being faithful to the games. And every time it turned out to be a didappointment.
Keepers Diary was the only exception. Kudos for that. Great watch
Josh Peck (from Drake & Josh) was filmed at a shooting range, with someone (the instructor, maybe) commenting on the ‘T-Virus’. Thought that was just them making a reference/joke, but maybe it was actually him practicing for the new Resident Evil projects.

This series disgusts me, though, because it's just a retread of the 2022 series but swapping out Wesker's daughter for Marcus's daughter and removing the stupid teen drama aspect. I hope this one doesn't happen.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking too while listening to JJ describe the new show. It sounds almost exactly like the 2022 Netflix series...just swapping out Wesker's daughter for Marcus'. It's like they learned absolutely nothing. I can't say I'm excited for it. It's probably going to be just as terrible as the 2022 show was.

Oh God, seriously another movie, although I loved everything about Resident Evil, the last live-action movie was terrible and so was the Netflix series, I don't understand why they don't make a movie that is 100% faithful to the game, it shouldn't be difficult writing a story or script, the first movie should have been about RE0 and RE1.

Still, it clearly showed that they knew all the beats of the first two RE games.

Ideas for Capcom:
1. Dino Crisis (remake) now including dino's like Triceratops and Ankylosaurus that got cut in the original game.
2. Dino Crisis 3 (remake) - The remake retcons the original games space theme with the original story concept that got scrapped.
