I love Lance Reddick. He's fantastic in The Wire and he does a great job in the Horizon games, but Wesker has been white for over 20 years now. I was willing to suspend a certain amount of disbelief until the break-in at the Umbrella facility in the first episode. After that, I stopped watching. I work in IT and it physically hurt to see two teenagers crack the security and learn how to get past security cameras from the INTERNET. And then they go from Super Smart to Dumber Than Dirt by releasing the T-hound. At that point I shut it off and went no further.

Resident evil 2 original recipe had 2 memories that are burned in my head. Me and a cousin rented it and the harmless zombie arms bursting through the window made me and my cousin both jump and yell out loud. Right after that we had to mentally prep ourself every time we went down that hall. And my cousin refused to go into the interrogation room because he was didnt want the mirror to burst.
Me and my mate did this to another friend of ours when he visited while we were playing RE2. We purposely went to all the jump scares to laugh at his reaction. And because he's arachniphobic the giant spiders in the sewers made his skin crawl. We were such pricks to him with that game.
My favorite was when my older brothers came home to visit with their friends while I was playing RE2. I got to that hallway where the licker crashes thru the window. All I heard were grown men behind me crying out in fear. Ah, memories....

Moment I saw they had Black-washed Wesker, I knew the show was going to suck. Anytime you see someone who feels like they have a right to change essential details about a beloved/feared character, don't give them your money and run away as fast as you can.
They could've at least made an excuse for it since it takes place after RE5. Just have some husk of Wesker take over a random African guy after the Volcano fight and boom, black Wesker for an in universe reason.

Producers and directors saw classically trained actor Lance Reddick come out of makeup looking like Great Value Blade and were like “Yeah this is it, boys. Albert Wesker.”
One of the main tenets of Wesker's character in the games is that he is, for all intents and purposes, a narcissist or a psychopath. Even though the main Weskers shown in the Netflix series are clones, it just translates really poorly to have a portrayal of the character without that trait. I don't want to see Wesker caring for daughters, or hand-wringing as he pleads with some Umbrella bigwig to give him more research time. Wesker in the games only ever took a subordinate role when it was necessary to marinate his plans -- he dropped all pretenses once he got himself killed by the Tyrant and resurrected himself.
And although RE6 was... definitely something that existed but could have been better (if only Capcom didn't try to make it into 4 different games stitched into 1 game with the RE logo on it), it did show that Wesker at some point had a son... cared so little that not even his arch-nemesis ever heard of that one. So again, why would wesker care or even let himself be belittled by a little shit? This man has killed people for far less, i don't believe for even a second that he wouldn't kill his own, probably unwanted and certainly made with some sort of fucked up test-subject purpose, children would be above getting killed for annoying him.
He is also the villain of villains that is bets out many series if you wanted an evil SOB that would do anything to achieve his goals. His character is basically the ultimate evil asshole, that basically redefined what its what to be a villain.
Except the Weskser with the kids is a clone and they established that the original gives no fucks. If there was some parent taking their kids' blood none of you would care why. You guys argument that this show is bad is like saying Miles Morales is a shitty spiderman because he doesn't have an Uncle Ben. The overarching lore is what establishes a Universe in which anything can take place. This show was painful to watch, but everyone here seems stuck on the obvious woke stuff that's going to be prevalent just like superhero films and connected universes. Doesn't mean they'll all be good, but the reason they're bad isn't directly linked to being geared in a particular direction

Basically society became unhinged and nihilistic in the wake of some nebulous event called the White Flash turning the world into a wasteland and somehow causing all women to disappear. The story centers around a guy named Brad who stumbled across a baby girl, prompting him to attempt to turn his life around and protect her. This puts him in conflict with... well, just about everyone else. It's a great game, but broaches a lot of difficult subject matter and you'll suffer a lot of mood whiplash from the game bouncing between the humor and horror of it all. If you can stomach it, I highly recommend it, but it's definitely not for everyone.
Resident evil was my childhood. The hours I poured into re2 the sheer fucking terror the word "stars" put into me in re3. But nothing could prepare me for the true terror the franchise held. The live adaptions.
The RE license for live-action adaptations are all made by *Constantin Film/Screen Gems* . They still hold the IP license for more than 20 years. Based on the studios's track records, they are NOT good - pretty much telling the crappy quality, right? The reason is because they want to _secure the rights from Capcom_ .

I watched another review of this show and simply said I was concerned with the priorities of the writers when I saw they race-swapped Wesker. I was worried that the studio was not going to be loyal to the lore. I was called a racist and bigot by so many people 😂 I don't give a fuck that a black person replaced a white character, I was worried because it was unnecessarily done in spite of the established lore. I consider it more racist to race-swap a character unnecessarily, than I do to point it out. It strongly implies that forced minority casting was on their mind when hiring, and that tokenism is sadly alive and well. With very few exceptions, it's exceedingly rare that a race-swapped actor is outstandingly better than any actor they could have found of the source material's required ethnicity. I find it especially egregious should the race be changed, when the lore of the source material requires for a character to be of a specific ethnicity (Avatar; Prince of Persia, etc.).

I remember when resident evil first came out, tried playing it at night, that was scary as hell, taking like two steps at a time cuz u expecting something to jump out at you. And then finally saying f it and turning it off cuz your nerves are shot, swore to never play that again at night. Gradually got accustomed to it, nothing felt better than blowing a zombies head off or stomping it. Even with that experience, it wasn't enough to prepare for what came after. Silent Hill, oh j christ, it wasn't jump scary like r. evil but that creepy, dark atmosphere and all you got is that damn flashlight. Ah fun times.

I've spent money, time and effort to get my grubby little mitts on every physical copy of resident evil series because I like it so much, but this Netflix series offends me on a physical and emotional level I've never known before, its the gropey drunk uncle on Thanksgiving dinner all over again.
All they had to do was take Outbreaks approach where you have survivors parallel with the game events. You could have the first episode with campers who get stalked and killed by the Cerberus with one survivor nearly making it until they are defeated with their last sight being the Bravo team helicopter. Another Episode with sewer workers where they deal with a G baby. Another with Raccoon City Hospital pre and post breakout. Maybe the Power grid workers dealing with the Deimos. How about an adaptation of the other HUNK team from that one comic where they fought G babies and used the rail gun you see in RE3. Now you have stories that don't mess with lore, mess up characters, and gives you the freedom to make all the characters you want.
I have never played a single Resident Evil game in my life, and I feel like I have a better understanding of the general themes involved than literally anyone at Netflix just from absorbing random bits of info over the years.

The thunbnsil made me think of Starship Troopers with the character pose and it took me a second to orient my brain about which movie you were refetencing. Hollywood can't seem to focus on anything but the narrative.
I remember playing RE1 as a kid when it came out. I lived in the same apartment building as my two older cousins. I went down to their place one summer evening, had dinner, then thry popped that bad boy into the PS1. I remember the sun setting, bowls of chips and candy on the floor, and me being captivated by a world of monsters and mystery. It kicked off my love of survival horror; one that, like most of you, has survived until today. Seeing what they've done to RE just makes me sad. At least the games are still decent.

Feminists are forcing their ideas into all these failed movies and shows. Instead of movies having an actual interesting plot modeled after the original source, they just take an already existing script and change the title of a movie. The reasons for a movie or a show being beloved by the majority isn't a male or female cast. It's the harmony of story, camera, writing and amazing actors and actresses.
It reminds me of those games that were initially intended to be independent games but were reconverted to a franchises sequel for whatever reason. Only they did it by splicing a few different failed story ideas and slapped the Resident evil brand onto it. And it really shows.

Resident evil 2 original recipe had 2 memories that are burned in my head. Me and a cousin rented it and the harmless zombie arms bursting through the window made me and my cousin both jump and yell out loud. Right after that we had to mentally prep ourself every time we went down that hall. And my cousin refused to go into the interrogation room because he was didnt want the mirror to burst.
Me and my mate did this to another friend of ours when he visited while we were playing RE2. We purposely went to all the jump scares to laugh at his reaction. And because he's arachniphobic the giant spiders in the sewers made his skin crawl. We were such pricks to him with that game.

One of the main tenets of Wesker's character in the games is that he is, for all intents and purposes, a narcissist or a psychopath. Even though the main Weskers shown in the Netflix series are clones, it just translates really poorly to have a portrayal of the character without that trait. I don't want to see Wesker caring for daughters, or hand-wringing as he pleads with some Umbrella bigwig to give him more research time. Wesker in the games only ever took a subordinate role when it was necessary to marinate his plans -- he dropped all pretenses once he got himself killed by the Tyrant and resurrected himself.
He even killed Spencer. Umbrella's founder.
And although RE6 was... definitely something that existed but could have been better (if only Capcom didn't try to make it into 4 different games stitched into 1 game with the RE logo on it), it did show that Wesker at some point had a son... cared so little that not even his arch-nemesis ever heard of that one. So again, why would wesker care or even let himself be belittled by a little shit? This man has killed people for far less, i don't believe for even a second that he wouldn't kill his own, probably unwanted and certainly made with some sort of fucked up test-subject purpose, children would be above getting killed for annoying him.

I think I would argue that they're willing to license out their intellectual property knowing that somebody is going to pay real cash money for the privilege. Basically society became unhinged and nihilistic in the wake of some nebulous event called the White Flash turning the world into a wasteland and somehow causing all women to disappear. The story centers around a guy named Brad who stumbled across a baby girl, prompting him to attempt to turn his life around and protect her. This puts him in conflict with... well, just about everyone else. It's a great game, but broaches a lot of difficult subject matter and you'll suffer a lot of mood whiplash from the game bouncing between the humor and horror of it all. If you can stomach it, I highly recommend it, but it's definitely not for everyone.

I watched another review of this show and simply said I was concerned with the priorities of the writers when I saw they race-swapped Wesker. I was worried that the studio was not going to be loyal to the lore. I was called a racist and bigot by so many people 😂 I don't give a fuck that a black person replaced a white character, I was worried because it was unnecessarily done in spite of the established lore. Does anyone else think I am a racist person for having that concern?

I consider it more racist to race-swap a character unnecessarily, than I do to point it out. It strongly implies that forced minority casting was on their mind when hiring, and that tokenism is sadly alive and well. With very few exceptions, it's exceedingly rare that a race-swapped actor is outstandingly better than any actor they could have found of the source material's required ethnicity. I find it especially egregious should the race be changed, when the lore of the source material requires for a character to be of a specific ethnicity (Avatar; Prince of Persia, etc.).
I'm surprised they actually portrayed what being a stepfather would be like.

I remember when resident evil first came out, tried playing it at night, that was scary as hell, taking like two steps at a time cuz u expecting something to jump out at you. And then finally saying f it and turning it off cuz your nerves are shot, swore to never play that again at night. Gradually got accustomed to it, nothing felt better than blowing a zombies head off or stomping it. Even with that experience, it wasn't enough to prepare for what came after. Silent Hill, oh j christ, it wasn't jump scary like r. evil but that creepy, dark atmosphere and all you got is that damn flashlight. Ah fun times.
The show makes the shitty Paul W. S. Anderson movies look like masterpieces. Seriously why can`t they accurately adapt Resident evil for over 20 years? The games already have actually strong independent heroinesTM that people actually like.
The worst part is it wouldn’t be hard to make a good movie just get a transcript of the dialogue from one of the games and make two movies out of it

The films mostly just stand on their own by merit of being a simple action film, the people who say shit on the films tend to just be angry anyway, it's just a film, I love the games, I love the films, but then I'm not on whatever site being infected by insanity, so there's that.
Don't forget, Resident Evil was so popular for Capcom they used it's engine to create the underrated masterpiece Dragon's Dogma.

All they had to do was take Outbreaks approach where you have survivors parallel with the game events. You could have the first episode with campers who get stalked and killed by the Cerberus with one survivor nearly making it until they are defeated with their last sight being the Bravo team helicopter.
Another Episode with sewer workers where they deal with a G baby. Another with Raccoon City Hospital pre and post breakout. Maybe the Power grid workers dealing with the Deimos. How about an adaptation of the other HUNK team from that one comic where they fought G babies and used the rail gun you see in RE3.
Now you have stories that don't mess with lore, mess up characters, and gives you the freedom to make all the characters you want.

I have never played a single Resident Evil game in my life, and I feel like I have a better understanding of the general themes involved than literally anyone at Netflix just from absorbing random bits of info over the years.
That is probably true. Lol. I feel the same. I’ve played a little bit of the series, but very little of it. I’ve watched people play it at times. I definitely could more closely replicate it than these people.
The thunbnsil made me think of Starship Troopers with the character pose and it took me a second to orient my brain about which movie you were refetencing. Hollywood can't seem to focus on anything but the narrative.
I remember playing RE1 as a kid when it came out. I lived in the same apartment building as my two older cousins. I went down to their place one summer evening, had dinner, then thry popped that bad boy into the PS1.
I remember the sun setting, bowls of chips and candy on the floor, and me being captivated by a world of monsters and mystery. It kicked off my love of survival horror; one that, like most of you, has survived until today.
Seeing what they've done to RE just makes me sad. At least the games are still decent.
I think the whole "all female cast " thing is insane , not only have I never wanted a movie with a all male cast id say right off the bat it would fail because no men would want to watch it either , we love sexy , smart or bad ass women in our movies , trinity is a perfect example not one single person ive ever watched the matrix with has ever said "ah they just have her here for feminist " na its always damn that chick is a bad ass , but here we are with what 5 or 6 movies with all female cast that failed miserably
Feminists are forcing their ideas into all these failed movies and shows. Instead of movies having an actual interesting plot modeled after the original source, they just take an already existing script and change the title of a movie.
The reasons for a movie or a show being beloved by the majority isn't a male or female cast. It's the harmony of story, camera, writing and amazing actors and actresses.

It reminds me of those games that were initially intended to be independent games but were reconverted to a franchises sequel for whatever reason. Only they did it by splicing a few different failed story ideas and slapped the Resident evil brand onto it. And it really shows.
