Finally back with a new video. I probably could have gotten this one done and uploaded in early May but then the Philippine elections happened. When the results came out, I was a grieving blob for like two weeks. I could get absolutely nothing done. I even went into a kind of existential crisis about this UA-cam channel. It just feels so trivial to be talking about this luxury hobby while the literal forces of evil sweep my country. I’ve soldiered on through finishing this video and I will do the same for the remainder of my sponsor contract but after that I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Do I want to keep making the keyboard content? Should I start over and pivot to a different topic? Should I just edit video for another creator since that’s the part of the video-making process I like most? I don’t know. We’ll see. Thanks for reading and watching, as always.
While the results of the elections is really quite disappointing I don't think you should stop making content. This is especially true if this kind of content gives you a sense fulfillment and relieves stress For many of us, this is our escape from the harsh realities of the world.
Hope you will be okay! I personally love this channel and would hate to see you go but we all have to do what we have to do! Good luck with whatever you decide
I think the Yellow Pro being prelubed out the factory helps out more in its value. A lot of people just genuinely don't have the time to hand lube switches/buy the tools and other things to get the springs lubed. On top of that a lot of us aren't chasing the "endgame" board. Some of us just want quality boards on a budget and I applaud Gateron for giving us these things. It won't be as good as hand lubed but its still better than not having lube in general
I'm grateful for finding this video as it helped me finally decide between switches! I couldn't decide whether I wanted to try to the more expensive options or just go with the budget king yellow pro. I ended up going with the yellows since the difference was negligible. Thank you so much.
So glad to see someone else get off the idea that all switches need films and you have to lube every switch precisely. Thanks for being reasonable and spreading effective and efficient lubing methods! Also great comparison
@@楓糖綠茶 For sure, it's all based on what works for you, and what you like. I can feel and hear the difference - but it's not worth the effort to me and the end result isn't meaningfully different, even if it's noticeably different.
Thank you for this video, my first keyboard uses Gateron Oil Kings, love it for home but tired of taking a heavy alu keyboard to and from work. Going to build a 2nd keyboard with the milky yellow pro, stock will be fine for office use.
I’m having a hard time deciding if I should lube my Milky Pro’s or not. I prefer the sound of he milky pros stock here but then i feel like lubing them will make them feel just that tad bit more smoother. 🙃
I think milky yellow pros are doing pretty good if you tape 3-4 layers and put some premium foam in it There ya go ! You got yourself a creamy thock keyboard
Also, while its popular, I think that the KBD67 Lite is not a great testing keyboard - since it's quite a muted board and doesn't demonstrate the differences between switches particularly well
@@CaloysKeyboards haha, I get you, I have the same issue! What software do you use for editing? You do a really great job visualizing your sound comparisons (I know it your skill and hard work and not the software, but I'm curious!)
the reason why I want to switch from Gateron reds to milky yellow is because the reds are too light. Sometimes I press keys accidentally without even noticing and according to Gateron the yellows are perfect if the reds are too light. Then I discovered the milky yellow pro and now Im gonna take these instead of the normal yellow pro 3.0 nice video! :)
So you mentioned that both switches developed sharp noises after use, likely due to lube leaking. Did that also affect the feel of the switches in any way?
I probably can shorten the explanation: Why Milky Pro Yellows are better: 1. A lot cheaper 2. Tolerable/adored pitch 3. Better spring weight although shorter 4. Doesn't require lube/film to make it sound amazing Note: All these switches are good, depending on the preference of the person using it. The gateron ink blacks is debatably better weighted for the heavier switch fans, slightly smoother, helps a bit with north facing interference, but more than 3 times the price of the milky pro yellows, which is identical in pre-lube performance, better in spring weight for the lighter or middle lovers. I think the milky pros are better, or just better in value.
Those are different. On the cap switches, there's a hole on the stem where a pole from the bottom housing slides into. On most other switches it's the opposite: hole on bottom housing where pole from stem slides into.
@@andrashoffmann7522 I haven't tried the cap switches yet so I can't say for sure but I seem to remember people having problems with the first version of them but I hear the v2s are much improved.
@@andrashoffmann7522 The Cap V2 series in my opinion are big improvement from the Pro series and have their own unique aspect. The stem wobble is less than Pro and they are smoother than Pro after lubed, so I would recommend you get the Cap (Milky or Golden) if you have the chance :D.
Cherry, Gateron and Kailh. Their switches in my opinion, have the highest leaf quality that can last very long. For the lube, it's advice that you re-lube the switch, as the pre-lubed was never a good choice for long-term using.
hi! will milky yellow pros cause interference w cherry profile keycaps? im planning on using cherry profile keycaps with these switches and i also have a north facing pcb
I'm not a fan of 205g0..never was. It takes away too much of the specific sound signature of a switch. I'm a fan of 3203/3204 or even 107 oil. Usually I'm lubing only stems or only bottom housings.

Do you think they will remove vaccine mandates? I plan to visit in Dec, and I do not believe cv19 vaccines improve immunity.

You can consider oilkings definitely better than yellows but difference is minimal

Having the ink black v2s I would agree with your conclusion. Personally I would also go for Milky Yellow Pro for my next build for my girl.
I’m so excited you uploaded as I love your vids!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼

WHAT WERE KEYCAPS AT 2:43
Why my gateron yellow milky pro in keychron k6 pro sound veryyyyy quite. Quitely creamy sounding. I expect it to sound thocky and creamy
So you mentioned that both switches developed sharp noises after use, likely due to lube leaking. Did that also affect the feel of the switches in any way?
No, they still felt just as smooth.
@@CaloysKeyboards Alright thanks
Gateron Oil King or Box Ink V2?
Which one?
Why?
Can you please advise exactly which keyboard you were using. Complete spec including color please.. Thanks
Where did you get that Desk mat from?
Would you recommend lubing over the factory lube?
Stock pros are probably deeper sounded because of the factory lube and i think box inks are dry

try tribosys 3203 or 3204 both are thinner. I use 3203 for tactile switches and 205g0 for linears.

Thanks for the awesome video!
Can u pick 1 for me between g pro milky yellow or cap v2 milky yellow? Whic the most deep and quiet
Haven't tried the Cap v2s unfortunately 😅
what are the kb specs you used in the vid
3:14
How would u compare the smoothness of the ks9 pro 2.0 vs cj?
CJ is smoother in my opinion. The KS9 Pro 2.0 still have a noticeable friction sound when you hear them closely.
Do you have to break in milky yellow pro before lubing or you can just lube it off the get go
For me, there's no need to break in any switch. This one especially doesn't need it as it's already quite smooth even stock.
@@CaloysKeyboards the vintage black definetly needs break in

Ink black sounds much better after lube
