In regards to the “Which one has more range?” Question, it’s basically a tie. Rangefinder gives Palindrome the edge because it will start to drop off later than the Fatebringer, but explosive rounds will give Fatebringer an easier time once you’re* out of range. IMO, it depends on the map and what special weapon you want to use to pick one* over the other.
I personally don’t like Fatebringer's perk Pool outside of Eye of the Storm, but I’m really praying for Eyasluna to be INSANE and have both Eye of the storm and Rangefinder together just like Austringer used to.
Explosive rounds doesn't extend the aim assist/magnetism dropoff. It's not just a normal range boost like a lot of people think.
When is Eyasluna coming?
@@imjlu with “easier time” I wasn’t talking about aim assist or accuracy whatsoever, I know that Explosive Rounds doesn’t help those things at all. But it does help to have a higher damage floor. Palindrome at the damage floor hits 24 crit damage, and IIRC, Fatebringer's with Explosive Rounds hits 30 crit damage.

Just a heads up i went on to d2gunsmith and figured out between the Timelost Fatebringer and The Palindrome adept which 1 has more range..... The max range roll for the Timelost Fatebringer can hit 92 range with an adept range mod on and The max range roll for Palindrome Adept can hit 91 so literally timelost fatebringer edges out palendrom adept by only 1 range statistically.

Yup. A good KD doesnt always mean the players at the level that number states. Players quit unfair games due to wide skill discrepancies, which i dont blame them for at all. Cos obviously Dont play in any game clearly weighted so heavily & unfairly against you. Well, Unless youre just stupid lol.
but say an average player for example were to quit shit tons of actual fair games after playing well for i dunno two minutes, his KD would eventually go up to a number that doesnt actually reflect his true skill.
That 4.0 player is likely actually a 3.0 player if he quits fair games all the time. Still a very, *very* good player, but not as good as the KD suggests.
I think when it comes to these 2, feel alone is the most important thing. The sight, the model, the sounds, it’s all important to what we become attached to. At the end of the day, sure pali may have more range, or fatebringer may have more lethality, but 10 times out of 10 I’m gonna use the one that feels the best to me. Even if a gun is statistically good, if it doesn’t feel good than it’s all for nothing

I’ve used fatebringer a lot more (in both aspects of the game) but the stats and rolls on palindrome are just so hard to pass up

An important thing to note for controllers is that explosive rounds doesn’t extend the range of stickiness, while rangefinder does
definitely more interesting seeing u fight people who actually shoot back xd, and can also hit shots
I have a God Roll of both Hand Cannons with those exact rolls.
I feel Fatebringer is the better HC because the flinch is greater.
And this comes from Palindrome’s #1 fan.
I completely agree, I think the amount of flinch and annoyance Fatebringer has is what separates the two. Yeah range finder is good in range finder moments but Timelost Fatebringer just has that extra hit disturbance that can’t be beat.
I would say it largely depends on the perks each has, and how it feels for a particular player
I absolutely love explosive payload. the flinch it gives is awesome. I wish there was a solid legendary energy handcannon with it

I've been messing around with both my Timelost Fatebringer and Adept Pali in trials this weekend. Yeah, I agree with you, it's hard to choose. For me, Adept Pali edges out ever so SLIGHTLY cause of it's thinner/smaller gun model. Depending on which shader I use (DO NOT USE GAMBIT JADESTONE. Looks good, but it hurts the eyes lol), the flashlight on Fatebringer can be a bit annoying.

personally i think it's highly dependent on what special you want to use, one is energy, the other is kinetic. both s tier options for their slots. i dont think one is better then the other since they take different slots
I completely agree with you. Both options feel extremely good and BOTH are S-tier weapons period. It comes down to personal setup and preference. I hate when people try to say “one is better than the other” when they are in separate slots. i love having the option to choose.
I just got my first time lost fatebringer today explosive payload and firefly or eye of the storm. It’s so good.

There is a very good video from Gjerda that goes into insane depth about this topic and I think the end result came down to fatebringer (timelost) being best just because of its farming method.
For sure easier but the change that makes all platinum GM runs award an adept drop does help get palindrome

explosive rounds damage doesn't get reduced across range where as on pali because it doesn't have explosive rounds you see its primary damage drop by a lot across range. Also there is a light-weight shotty in the energy slot called seventh seraph cqc, that's what i use with fatebringer timelost till i get found verdict timelost
Haven't got a great Pali but I'm in love with my timelost fatebringer, if it only had eye of the storm(I'll take the opening shot tho)

You can't compare with range stat on 2 different archetypes because it's only relevant against others in the same archetype. It's like a sniper with half a bar of range will still out range any gun that isn't a sniper. So I'm pretty sure all 120s have more range on average than 140s 🤷

I really like the games against better players! It's fun seeing you slay out, but I prefer seeing how you and the enemy adapt and okay out your tactics against each other.
Explosive payload just throws my aim off so much. Idk how people use it, Pali feels so much cleaner. I REALLY like my adept Uzume tho so I hope Eyasluna can compete. Would be sick

In my personal opinion, it's dependent on what you're most comfortable with. Both Pali and Fate are one of the best hand cannons that I've used (both in D1 and in D2), but in all honesty, it comes down to what you like more. Sure, both guns are good, and both have some crazy stats that make them one of the best HC's in the game, but if you're not feeling one or the other, you don't gotta conform to it, yknow? Play to what makes your heart feel good, and enjoy yourself.
Bottom line is: If you enjoy it, use it. Don't let others say what you can and can't do/use.
They're both best in slot because they each have different pairings even though Fatebringer overall has better pairings considering the variety of energy specials you can use.
Base statswise here is the difference:
- Range = 4 (Point to Pali)
- Stability = 1 (Null because it's too small of a difference, but would go to Pali)
- Handling = 5 (Point to Fate)
- Reload Speed = 2 (Null because it's too small of a difference, but would go to Fate)
- Aim Assistance = 5 (Point to Fate)
- Recoil Direction & Intensity = 0 (Null)
- Magazine Size = 0 (Null)
- Perks = Null (Tbh, it's Null because they both have Range increase Perks and damage perks; BUT...Explosive Payload grants unlimited range because of 1/3 split damage & 35% flinch but Rangefinder on Pali helps the AA & Accuracy cones)
- Feeling-wise = Null (As both are great feeling)
- Sound-wise = Null (they have the same shooting sound)
- Aesthetic = Null (Both are great)

Both are good depends what you want to use with them for example Palindrome and Eye of Sol or Fatebringer and Found Verdict
Did you know that waking vigil used to be a lightweight frame and those lightweights had lesser range stat than the adaptives

Wallah, the real God rolls accepted by other D2tubers and the community are these for PvP:
- Timelost Fatebringer = Fluted, Accurized, Explosive, EotS with a Range MW.
- Adept Palindrome = Fluted, High Cal, Quickdraw/Killing Wind, Rangefinder with a Range MW.
The reason why Fluted for both is because with Fluted and the bonus from the MW to all stats makes you Stability in the sweetspot zone for handcannons.

The only thing I know is I swap between the 2 and pair them with chaperone, le monarque, jotun, sometimes lord of wolves, hell sometimes witherhoard. But lately I have been loving sunshot so they aren't seeing as much love but they are both incredible and no matter which you like you're right its good.

I love chaperone on my Hunter, Pali allows me to use that. But I’m a striker Titan I use a sudden death, so I run the fatebringer there. They’re very similar, identical stats and have great perk choices. I guess it depends on what special you want to use
Call me crazy but I honestly would take Dire over both of these, even though the stats aren’t as good. Sometimes it just feels like you literally can’t miss with dire it just feels so smooth
Grav it might be a next gen thing but on old gen dire is just not it, the recoil is too hard to manage compared to pali and fatebringer and the lesser stats give no reason to use it

I’m learning to get better with hand cannons and PvP in general, and I seriously like my Opening Shot, Explosive Payload, Range Masterwork Fatebringer(I’m too trash for Trials, so I don’t have a Palindrome).
I have an identical roll to the fatebringer you have in the vid, and it is unbelievably cracked. Gotta go with that over Pali, even tho it has zero recoil
I recently got my timelost fate and feel the same about the 2 guns, my fates got explosive with opening shot while my Pali got killing wind and range, so I feel like my fate hits first shot more and staggers them so I take less hits while my Pali feels like i hit headshots more at longer range.
But I love my fate cause of how classic it is but both are crazy good, I use duality with fate and chaperone with Pali

palindrome will have more range due to rangefinder, exposive rounds is just little additional damage that doesn't drop off. The issue is that this does not affect bullet magnetism or anything regarding actual range, so palindrome has better range and better actual range.
Good thing i kept my old Surplus, Elemental, Full-choke, accurized astral to use with Pali.
High Cal is better for dueling but since you lose that stability boost you would want smallbore to give some of that back without losing too much range.
I just got both guns this week for the first time. I wanted to like Fatebringer more, but Palindrome feels more crisper, more accurate. At least the rolls I got right now. My FB is missing a tad on the range department.

i agree with your sentiment in the beginning. these two pretty much nullify all other available 140s right now besides the exotics, and even some of them are dumped on stat-wise. i kinda can't believe they put these two i nthe game with stats like these, and haven't even mentioned bringing them down a little or buffing ANY of the other 140s up even a little

I have an adept pali with full bore, flared, range masterwork and range mod, it’s pretty great, my bottom dollar has opening shot, rangefinder, flared n smallbore it’s also great

Was lucky to get a timelost Fatebringer this weekend - hammer forged, accurized w/ tunnel vision and eye of the storm , i cant bring myself to put it down its so good. Also farmed a few pallis this weekend - best roll i got was corkscew, ricochet w/ subsitence and range finger and outlaw on another. Havent had a chance to try it out in PVP just yet but very curious after this video. Its going to be hard to beat that time lost though.

Pali feels like gold.
The reason waking vigil is so bad compared to the palindrome is that waking vigil was a 150 but 150s got changed to 140 rpm and bungie kept all other stats on 150s the same. So the old 150s that are now also 140s have low range and medium stability with high handeling and thus are worse than normal 140 rpm handcannons.

ive done 31 gm's, still no got no roll with rangefinder. best roll i got one was killing wind / one for all. this week has been a pain for me trying to get the godroll palindrome.

I have a smallbore, ricoshet quickdraw rangefinder adept palindrome with a handling mw and a normal fatebringer with smallbore, accurised explosive and openingshot and honestly i like the fatebringer a bit more but thats probably because of that auto-aim perk lol. Its very hard not to start a gunfight with a headshot because of that
I have payload and kill clip on my fatebringer with rewind rounds/firefly I love it. Would prefer eye of the storm or opening shot but kill clip is fun. Farming a good pali rn got 1 decent roll.

Might as well grind for both, so you can swap whenever convenient. Outside of exotics, these are the top-down HCs.
They’re better than exotics in certain ways, both more stable than Ace, both pittance Thorn, both can have icarus grip etc
Obviously the exotics have their own unique benefits but just because these are legendary doesn’t mean they’re worse

Well the question is which slot do you want to put your special weapon and if you run divinity, izanagis, etc.
Better players is always better that you curb stomping new lighters with risk runner
The problem with having guns that are as good as these two is that pretty much every other gun you have is just not worth using anymore because these guns have better stats in every category.

I have a god roll adept astral which feels nice for me, and i have 4/5 adept palis and it annoys me that they're all missing rangefinder 😔
In my opinion its hard to say which one of these 2 hand cannons is better i mean i like my explosive payload, kill clip Timelost Fate Bringer so much i have hard time not using it when i use a hand cannon and i like the fact that i can pair it with my Adept Uzume on the other hand Palindrome can pair with things like Eye Of Sol .... In my opinion these hand cannon's are complete equals 1 is not really better than the other they are both stat beasts that feel amazing when they are used.
Fatebringer adds extra flinch with EP. Pali with rangefinder flinches harder because of the zoom. Bc of this I use Fatebringer more than my god rolled Pali.
