I’m a RN and found your video very useful. We put a hydrocolloid dressing on my sons finger where he had a partial thickness deficit following an accident with a mirror. Mom was using a non-stick gauze dressing for the 1st day. On day 2 there was still a decent amount of senro-sanguineous drainage. After watching your vid I think this dressing will be the ticket. Thanks so much!

I just had cryotherapy post treatment after removal of actinic ketosis 2 days ago on forehead. Would colloid bandage be appropriate. Dr. only suggested clean clean and use Aquaphor to prevent crusting.🤷🏻‍♂️

I would just clean it and use the aquaphor yo keep moist . Is there a reason you would like to put a bandage on it

@Nurse Alyssa None other than I want it to heal asap. I'm bartending at the moment. I figure it's not so appetizing for the customers to have a big scab on my forehead.🥴 I'm probably over think it.🤷🏻‍♂️

Using a hydrocolloid bandage could it potentially make the wound to wet to heal? I have a spot on my nose from a sun burn but i can not stop touching it and just leaving aquaphor on it has not seemed to help heal it. Any ideas. Im desperate.

I suggest a tagaderm if it is dry (no exudate) or a tagaderm acrylic if it has drainage.

I really can't find the answer to my question anywhere but I think you would be a good person to ask. I hope so anyways. I have a Venus ulcer on top of my foot. I had some trauma to the top of my foot and I have real bad circulation in my legs since I started truck driving about four and a half years ago but I've taken a year off but before that I used to do hard manual labor and never had a problem. I started driving over the road driving a big rig for 3 and 1/2 years and I gained a lot of weight and my legs started swelling a lot and I actually got an infection in both legs at the same time and went to the hospital and long story short I learned I needed to start using compression socks. Anyways for personal life reasons and health reasonsI took a break from truck driving and I hurt the top of my foot and an ulcer developed and I've been using regular gauze for a long time and a lot of triple antibiotic to keep it from sticking and regular gauze was the least painful because I was using Band-Aid cushion care gauze pads with tape to secure it and then my compression socks on top of it but it goes from the middle of my big toe to the outer edge of my middle toe and it's right up to the cracks of the in-between my toes and from there it goes back towards my ankle about 2 inches so it's like a 2x3 in irregular looking ulcer. I've had it for four or five months and it's been getting better and a lot of layers have grown back. But it's got to the point that almost any bandage I use hurts. I can only use nonstick bandages with still a lot of equate pain itch scar relief antibiotic ointment. That is only kind I can use so I have to use a bunch of that and then non-stick gauze pad and until that starts bothering me like sometimes it's a few hours sometimes it's 8 hours I can go without it bothering me. Sometimes I've been using lidocaine wound gel hydrogel and then I'll put the gauze on there and if I'm up walking around it'll stay moist enough to keep it from hurting. See the thing that hurts it the most is drying out. When I go to sleep at night I have to cover it in antibiotic ointment because I tried using anything else and it hurts and it's only that specific kind or the Neosporin name brand any other kind will hurt the hell out of it. If I let it dry out it'll hurt like hell if it gets too moist too long it hurts so I have to maintain a certain level of moisture to not have too much pain. I don't have insurance I don't have money. I have very little money just to buy bandages and stuff I need. I decided I want to try to use the hydrocoloid bandage and I bought them the 4x4 is a pack of three for $17 from CVS. I haven't even used the first one yet because I've starting to realize the foam bandages might be better because I'm starting to sense that I need a good seal for these hydrocoloid bandages to work. Is that the case? Because I'm not going to be able to get a good seal putting this thing where the adhesive is going to be going over my toes. What should I do? The only thing I can see is that the exudate mixes with it and causes gel and I'm thinking this is just going to run right through the crack of my toes or is it thick enough to wear if I get it close enough will it still might work or should I try a foam dressing instead because it's going to leak all out if there's not a perfect seal???

Oh yeah I forgot to mention it dries out when it's uncovered and there's nothing on it but when I put Neosporin on it it exudes minimally to moderately. Also in my shoe of course my foot sweats so same thing but honestly I have not even ever tried to bandage it dry and walk around because it will hurt too bad. I literally have to put Neosporin on it give it a chance to not hurt and feel right to where I can move my toes around and stuff and then clean the edges put a non-stick pad on top and tape it down in a way it won't catch on my compression socks when I put them on. I don't know why but the regular gauze pads worked so good for so long but now since it's healed to a certain degree a stick real bad and real quickly when they didn't stick before. So that's why I got to use the non-stick pads. My first got the ulcer I tried using the non-stick pads but they would get so wet so fast because they didn't breathe well so that's why I didn't use those at first. It's a very temperamental wound. It's all but driven me crazy.

1)Stop using neosporn all together most people have a reaction to this and it s3ems like you are too
      2) no foam (you don't have enough exudate
3)keep moist with hydrogel or Vaseline
      4) hydrocoloid will work (cut it so fits properly and doesn't go over toes you do need a good seal. Make a slit if needed then hold down on it for 1 min to get it to warm up and stick well .. if it is a very dry wound dab just a little hydrogel on the wound before putting the bandage on . I have some great resources on my channel please look around at all the videos there is lots to help you here in regards to venous leg ulcers, compressions , choosing a cover dressing ecf here is a video of choosing the appropriate coverdressing ua-cam.com/video/TSWlM47Fz0w/v-deo.html
